About eight months ago I was battling an addiction to pain medication. So I went online and searched out a doctor to help. I found Dr. Jason Hatcher of Panhandle Family Medicine in Chipley FL. And made an apointment to be seen. When I was told that I was a good candidate for the drug suboxone (a drug that blocks the high that most on pain meds are looking for) I was told to go hme and stop using for 36 hours and to return later that week for treatment. I was asked to fill out what seemed like a mountian full of paperwork and asked to pay a great deal of CASH upfront for the new medicine.
My treatment started on a Wed. And I was seen at an A.M. Apointment so they could get me up to the correct dosage. I am not stating that the dr or his office did not help me because for a while they made life bareable. Now to what the problem is. As a patient I guess I signed a peice of paperwork that stated I was NOT TO QUESTION the Dr. Or how he billed. I was just asked to pay 300.00 a visit once a week plus the first initial visit cost and first dose cost (Because I had to get if from their supplier) Well I will stop with all the little details and get to my point. As I was dishing out all of this money I began to recieve mail from my insurance co regaurding the charges that Panhandle Family Medicine was applying for! That seemed odd because I was paying and they told me that insurance co. Don't pay for drug treatment.
So by my accounts he was getting 600.00 a visit by billing me and my insurance co. Once a week. And the cherry on the pie is that when I called him on it they dropped me as a patient. Now just a quick little background on Suboxone it is more addictive then Morphine and herrion so when they stopped seeing me as apatient I was in worse shape then when I started. I know that most are probably saying good a druggie he got what he deserved but this is the reason why our medical insurance is so much.
A doctor who was double dipping. And when he got caught he just let me suffer. What about carring about patients??? Just a word to the wise a Dr. Who won't let you question his billing... Well you decide I just don't want another person to have to pay like I did and then become addicted to a drug worse then the one you started with. And we are working with our insurance co to fight All the charges that this office did and so far we have recovered most of our money and they have had to give back money they did not deserve to get. So in closing I have been clean for 3 months now and I just hope nobody else gets hurt by Dr. Hatcher and his office.
