I recently got a 2 bingo cards in the mail saying that if I got bingo on both of the cards, I would win cold hard cash, up to $1000. Of course, I got double bingo and called the number.
The receptionist at Uniway told me that the least I would walk away with was $100 and all I had to do was attend a ONE HOUR tour of their showroom. Well let me tell you, it was TWO HOURS, and by far the most bizarre experience and biggest waste of time. EVER.
The one thing I will give uniway is that their salesmen are EXCELLENT at selling the membership. I mean they know exactly what to say when to say it and how to say it to lure you in and steal your money.
The more the tour went on, the further I was falling under the spell of "saving money." By the end of the tour I was ready to sign up, but was concerned about the membership fee.
Well the well-trained salesman knew EXACTLY what to say to convince me. He said he could finance the membership and since I was still being reluctant, he decided to whip out the ultimate. He said as long as I gave him an imprint of my debit card, I could have 2 WHOLE WEEKS to think about it! Great I thought I'll do it! All I had to do was call and tell him to cancel it if I decided against it.
He pulled out the application and left the room, which was by far a blessing from God because the moment he left the room, I woke up from the trance he had me under and realized what I was potentially doing to my credit. I CANNOT BELIEVE I was under his spell. I am not easily duped, but he definitely had me. I also CANNOT believe I almost gave this cheater my DEBIT CARD! What was i thinking?! After some really evil looks from my salesman, I left the place and was told not to come back.
The next time you get some sort of prize offer from uniway in the mail and you think it might be too good to be true, BELIEVE ME, IT IS. Do not waste your time or money. These people should be stopped. I ended up winning some lame vacation package, which is also a fraud from what I've read, as well as some really awful looking prizes I had to MAIL AWAY FOR AND PAY SHIPPING FOR. If you are a uniway salesman reading this, all i can say is how can you live with yourself each day, knowing that you cheat people for a living??
