I worked for ECPI College for 11 months. I had been under the care of a Doctor for 7 months because of a major infection I had in my head/mastoid area. I dealt with severe pain, sinus infections & illness for the past 7 months and continued to work, but I was out days too. A surgery was scheduled for Oct 6th, but I pushed it up until December so I could make my "numbers" at work and because of money - I would not get paid for one week in regards to short term disability. My Boss, Noble Risner was aware of all of this. I was suffering major pain and my Surgeon insisted on doing the surgery sooner, which was Oct 27th. I became severly ill the week of Oct 20th & missed work, leading up to my surgery. Again, Noble was aware of this. I had major surgery Oct 27th, yet there was a message on my phone from Noble. I called him Tuesday the 28th for him to tell me I was seperated from ECPI, or terminated.
I know Virginia is a fire at will state, but what ECPI did to me was wrong. My health insurance was cancelled on Oct 31,4 days after major surgery.
I had to deal with Noble Risner, my boss, for 10 long months, severe mood swings, drug use in the office, and his erratic behavior, and ECPI fires me?
Just had to let people know.
