Barcareers
Ripoff, scam, false advertising, unprofessional, lies

I was contacted by Barcareers who had seen my resume on the Career Builder website. I signed up. Already being a certified bartender, I quickly fulfilled all of the company's requirements and paperwork in order to begin their bartender's employment assistance program.

They asked me to fax in my paperwork and bartending certification. After which I was supposed to make a follow-up call about an hour after I had sent the requested items. They immediately began to act suspicious and unprofessional when I made my first follow-up calls to their company.

I made several calls over a few weeks time where all I got was the run-around by people who would lie to me, make up excuses or simply refer me to another phone line where I would speak to another person who could not give me a single straight answer to my very simple questions like "Can you give me a listing of employment opportunities in my area?

One of their telephone lines that is listed on the front page of their website says "CALL NOW for employment opportunities in your area." I called that number a couple of weeks into my membership, only to get a response from a guy that said, "We have tons of job opportunities available in Akron Ohio.

I said "Great! Can I get a listing of these prospective employers?" The guy said, you have to sign up for an account at Barcareers in order to gain access to that information. Barcareers does guarantee you a job! I said, "Good, I already have an account. Can you give me a listing of employment opportunities in my area? He said, "I'm sorry, I'm just a telephone operator. I don't have access to that information. Try calling customer support."

By that time, I already had my fill of customer support. I had done everything that they asked of me. I had made follow-up calls that they told me to make. They told me that these employer listings would come to my account's inbox once a week. After the first week when nothing showed up in my inbox, Barcareers told me that there was a waiting period of a week that I might not see any action.

After the second week with no action on their part, I sent a text message to the website administrators that they totally ignored. Several days after that, I made a phone call to customer support where they just claimed that "Some lady" was in charge of my account and they would remind her to check her text messages and respond ASAP. I waited several days and they never did respond to that inquiry.

When it comes to this company, the right hand has no idea what the left hand is doing. All I got from this company was a bunch of avoidance, stuttering, excuses and bold-faced lies. From the sound of their voices on the telephone, I (and my girlfriend) were led to believe that each and every person was drunk or strung out on some kind of drug. A company could not get any more unprofessional.

I finally told them (in another text message) that I might submit my story to usacomplaints.com. The very same evening, some guy named Paul was calling me on the phone to offer me a complete refund as long as I requested this refund no later than June 17th. I asked him about these "tons of job listings" in Akron Ohio, and he said "No we don't have any job listings in Akron Ohio, but the situation must have changed since a week ago." His voice, like the others sounded pretty nervous and shakey.

Since I had plenty of time to get my refund, I decided to wait a few days just for the sake of curiosity. I called in today just to confirm that I wanted my refund, but Paul was not available.instead, I got this tweaked-out sounding phone operator who took a sarcastic tone while telling me that Barcareers would only refund "part" of the money. He made sure to say that they did not "have" to give me anything.

Barcareers promises the world and delivers nothing. Each person speaking for this company contradicts the other people who speak for this company. They seem as if they are making up new excuses as they go along. Between their lying, stuttering, scrambling and self contradictions, it is almost a relief when they put you on hold for a half an hour while they try to compare and get their stories straight.

If you want a bartending job, train at PBSA and submit your applications to various bars. Just a heads up on that. Don't be a sucker.
