I recently changed to AHP - Arkidus Home Protection from AHS - American Home Shield, after AHS through their negligence damaged my home to the tune of $4K by using incompetent contractors and ignoring my repeated requests for help with a plumbing leak.
First off let me say that I have had a fabulous response from Ray Berges at AHP. It is so nice to have ONE person to call when you have a problem, and to have that person responsive and responsible for helping you.
This is the opposite of my experience with AHS, where you spoke to anyone who picked up, if you got the Tennessee call center you were out of luck, if you got the Iowa call center they actually tried to help. Also, at AHS often one person would say one thing and then another person deny that what the first person said was correct. They also put false information into the computer record, so I had to start writing them memos after speaking to them to make sure the record showed correctly.
The above has not be my experience thus far with AHP and Ray Berges. They have been fantastically helpful and responsive. I signed on at the end of September there was a one month waiting period, and then late into October I had a sudden plumbing problem. We live in a two bedroom one bath home, and the toilet was backing up into the bath. I called Ray Berges and told him what was wrong and he told me he would call me back in five minutes. He did and he said he had arranged to have 'Rescue Rooter' come to fix the problem and that there would be a two hours window before they could get to me. They would try to be here in one hour, but it was now morning rush hour so it might take a bit longer. Ray hoped that this was okay. It was a far faster response that I had ever gotten from AHS, so that was fine with me.
The Rescue Rooter plumber arrived in just over one hour, and had my situation sorted out in less than an hour. He got the toilet unclogged first using the clean out, even though it was difficult because it had a 'Sweep'. The tub still was going slow, so he cleaned those pipes out from the tub end, and it is now draining like new. The pressure from the clog had caused the old wax ring on the toilet to go, so clean water was leaking from under the toilet. I had an extra wax ring on hand - so I asked him to switch it out. He said he would have to get approval as he was only sent for the clogs, but I called Ray again. He picked up immediately, and I told him what was happening, and the water was draining out of the bottom of the toilet now, and he told the plumber to change out the wax ring immediately, that he was authorizing it then and there. He said that they should get everything right on that trip.
Just something to note: the Rescue Rooter plumber arrived in a clean uniform with his name on it, in an easily identifiable truck with a corporate logo. He was very professional, and when he switched out the wax ring under the toilet he went out and got a huge pad to move it on so it would not sully my floor, and he cleaned up after himself. This is how a PROFESSIONAL should act. Wow, that had not been my experience with other plumbers from my area. I was very happy with this contractor.
I know I am a new client, but thus far the corporate culture of AHP has impressed me, they really CARE, and their response is fabulous. Ray is an exceptionally intelligent, nice, kind, and empathetic man. He really cares about his clients. This is what customer service should be. I am referring all my friends, to AHP.
