People do your homework!!! I Just barely avoided amajor fraudulent network of household goods movers and they can fool you toojust as they have fooled many others! I am so thankful that someoneshowed me the light today and helped me avoid a huge pitfall in the form ofextortion artists.
I have a few nice antique pieces to move to New York and in getting my pricingquotes together I was first contacted by a company called Reliable VanLines. I liked everything they had to say. The salesman representedtheir company well and was very polite. I gave him $200 from my creditcard to hold the move for me in a few days.
When I received their paperwork in my e-mail the paperwork said something abouta Chicago Moving Systems. I was not born yesterday so I got suspiciousand decided to speak to a few other movers. The others all informed me ofhow to do some snooping online. When I did my research what I found wasenormous amounts of individual bits of information linking Reliable Van Lines, the company for whom I had given my credit card number, to a host of othercompanies all known for seedy business practices.in fact much of theinformation I found suggests this to be the same company. I even foundsome information on this very usacomplaints.com site.
I got very worried and I am now not able to get a hold of neither of the men Ispoke with at Reliable Van Lines. Their names were Dan and Max.
The first thing I did was searched their phone number and then got theresults. Here is what came up.

These guys are all the same company.
ASAP Van Lines is Chase Relocation, who is Chicago Moving Systems, who is AMPMMoving (formerly ASAP of Texas), who also is the unlicensed broker Reliable VanLines, who is also Chicago Movers (who goes by Master Movers).
I will be contacting my credit card company to try and get my money back and then I will be canceling my account.
