I bought a leather lounge suite from Rhodes on the 3/19 2002. The furniture was delivered on time as agreed. The salesman talked me into buying a leather guard warranty, I did this as I was guaranteed that I would be covered for accidental rips, burns, tears etc.
I moved apartments and the sofa was damaged while getting it through the door. I immediately registered a claim with Rhodes, Their customer care division called me shortly thereafter and rejected the claim outright. This I find totally unacce[table as the claim was rejected without even inspection of the damage. I was told that moving was abuse and that if a child had ripped the furniture with a sharp object, then that would be considered accidental.
I have subsequently spoken to a number of their senior management. All to no avail. They wouldn't even suggest who to call to get a quote to repair the damage. As a new immigrant to the USA I am not only cheesed at the total lack of customer service from Rhodes but also in their apparent disinterest in helping me resolve the problem.
Customer Service in the USA is known to be the best in the world.
I have experienced wonderful support from other companies
and expected at least the same from Rhodes.
The bottom line of my gripe is that I will never ever buy from Rhodes again and in fact would not recommend them to friends or family.
