Valero gas station problems: who to contact (checked October 16, 2026)
Pages opened on October 16, 2026: Valero's Contact Us, Branded Valero Fuels, Ways to Pay and ValeroPay+ pages, the Form 10-K for 2025, BBB, and state weights-and-measures pages.
1. Know who runs the station. Valero's 10-K for 2025 says branded sites 'are independently owned and are supplied by us under multi-year contracts' and that about 7,000 outlets in the U.S., Canada, the U.K., Ireland and Mexico carry its brand names; in the U.S. they are sold under the Valero, Beacon, Diamond Shamrock and Shamrock names. For a station open today, a cashier, price, pump or in-store dispute therefore usually involves the station's own owner or operator, and the receipt and store sign are the first place to look for that operator's name. Valero's history page says its retail business was divested in 2013 and spun off as CST Brands, so a station named in an older complaint may have been run differently.
2. Pump, price or fuel-quantity problem. Keep the receipt, pump number, date, time and amount, and ask the station for a manager. Fuel pumps are inspected by state or county weights-and-measures offices. The Texas Department of Agriculture page says it handles complaints about 'inaccurate scales, LPG meters, packages and misleading or misrepresentation' of prices and gives (512) 463-7698 and [email protected]; it also says TDA 'investigates all complaints from any person who believes they may have been overcharged in a commercial transaction' and asks you to 'include the name and address where the alleged violation occurred'. It does not name fuel pumps on that page, so ask the office whether your issue is in scope; this page has not confirmed which Texas agency inspects fuel dispensers. The California Department of Food and Agriculture's Division of Measurement Standards page says county sealers carry out 'the vast majority of weights and measures enforcement activities at the local level' and lists 916-229-3000 for the state office. Its complaint page says complaints may be filed 'with the Division of Measurement Standards or the local weights and measures office in the county where the business is located', and that 'in order to be entitled to free air and water at a California service station you must have first purchased fuel at the location'.
3. Valero Credit Card, prepaid card or ValeroPay+. Valero's Ways to Pay page gives 1-800-333-3560 for the Valero Credit Card (lost or stolen cards, credit limit, payments), with representatives available Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. CT and an automated line open 24 hours; standard-mail payments go to DSRM National Bank, P.O. Box 300, Amarillo, TX 79105-0300. Express-mail payments go to Valero Payment Services, 7201 Canyon Drive, Amarillo, TX 79110-4339, and the page says the card 'cannot be used for cash withdrawals, the purchase of lottery tickets, money orders or gift cards'. For prepaid cards it gives 1-866-482-5376 for help and reloads and 1-888-240-2355 for balance checks (its marketing block says 'Call 866-482-5376 or visit online to check your balance'), says 'All Valero prepaid card transactions are final', and says that if a prepaid card is 'lost, stolen, damaged, destroyed, or used without permission, any value on the card cannot be replaced'; for a card ordered and lost in shipment it gives [email protected]. Prepaid terms are at valero.com/valero-gift-card-terms-and-conditions. The page also mentions a Valero fleet account 'offered by WEX', which is a separate program. Valero's Contact Us page lists [email protected] for credit card service and [email protected] for the app. For fraud and ID theft, Valero's Ways to Pay page links to reportfraud.ftc.gov and identitytheft.gov.
4. Escalate to the company. Valero's Contact Us page lists [email protected] for 'Branded Consumer Relations' and the headquarters line (210) 345-2000. The page's Consumers section reads 'Questions about Valero branded gas stations, credit cards or ValeroPay+?' and lists Branded Consumer Relations, Credit Card Customer Service and ValeroPay+ Support.
Who Valero is and how Valero-branded stations work
Valero Energy Corporation is headquartered at One Valero Way, San Antonio, Texas (telephone (210) 345-2000). Its 10-K for 2025 describes a company incorporated in Delaware in 1981 under the name Valero Refining and Marketing Company, renamed in 1997, whose common stock trades on the NYSE as VLO. It says that at year-end 2025 the company owned 15 petroleum refineries in the U.S., Canada and the U.K. Valero's Q2 2026 earnings release (filed 2026-07-30) says it operates 14 refineries, and its Q2 2026 10-Q says full idling of all processing units at the Benicia, California refinery was completed in April 2026. The 10-K also says Valero is a joint-venture member in Diamond Green Diesel (DGD), with Darling Ingredients, and owns 12 ethanol plants.
Branded stations. The 10-K says most rack volume is sold through unbranded channels, and the remainder 'is sold to distributors and dealers that are members of the Valero family of brands that operate branded sites'. It says these sites 'are independently owned and are supplied by us under multi-year contracts' and that approximately 7,000 outlets in the U.S., Canada, the U.K., Ireland and Mexico carry its brand names (Valero, Beacon, Diamond Shamrock and Shamrock in the U.S.). Valero's history page says the company merged with Ultramar Diamond Shamrock in 2001 and spun off its retail operations as CST Brands (2013), and a footnote reads 'Retail business divested in 2013'.
Credit card and app. Valero's Ways to Pay page offers a Valero Credit Card, prepaid fuel and gift cards, Valero ValuePay and the ValeroPay+ app, and says the card can be used 'at Valero, Diamond Shamrock, Beacon, or Shamrock locations'. Its payment address names DSRM National Bank; the page does not describe that bank's relationship to Valero.
What the record shows (as displayed on October 16, 2026)
BBB. The BBB profile for Valero Energy Corporation, San Antonio, TX, shows 'NOT BBB Accredited', BBB Rating A+ and 18 total complaints in the last 3 years, as displayed on October 16, 2026. BBB's raw data gives a business start date of November 1, 1978. BBB lists many separate Valero Energy Corporation entries for individual gas stations in other states; those are different listings and are not added to this number.
Complaints on this site. We link 20 older complaints (2006-2013) that name a Valero-branded station as the subject, plus 5 more station complaints (2009-2011) and 2 complaints (2009) about Valero Credit Card billing that are shown separately. They are consumers' own accounts, mostly about fuel quantity or price at the pump, receipts or card charges, and store staff; they are unverified and describe individual locations. The 10-K's statement that branded sites are independently owned describes sites as of 2025; Valero's history page says its retail business was divested in 2013, so whether a given 2006-2013 location was operated by Valero or by an independent owner is not established for these complaints. Valero's response, if any, is not shown here. Counts here are not combined with BBB's.
SEC filings. The 10-K for 2025 reports under 'Environmental Enforcement Matters' that there were no proceedings required to be disclosed under the SEC's $1 million threshold. The 10-Q for the quarter ended June 30, 2026 (Part II, Item 1) reports a new proceeding: 'Between 2019 and 2023, our Benicia Refinery received various Violation Notices (VNs) from the BAAQMD for excess emissions, among other violations', which 'were aggregated and resolved with the BAAQMD during the second quarter of 2026'; the filing states no dollar amount, and the same item says no single notice exceeded the materiality threshold. This concerns a refinery, not consumer complaints about stations.
Trustpilot. No Trustpilot profile for valero.com was identified on 2026-10-16 (trustpilot.com/review/valero.com and a Trustpilot search for 'valero' returned no matching Valero Energy business).
Is Valero Legitimate?
Valero Energy Corporation is a Fortune 500 company registered with the SEC (CIK 0001035002) that files annual reports; its latest 10-K, filed 2026-02-25, lists its address as One Valero Way, San Antonio, Texas 78249. BBB shows an A+ rating and no accreditation for the San Antonio profile, with 18 complaints in three years as displayed on October 16, 2026. Because branded stations are independently owned, the experience at a given station depends on its operator, and complaints about a station are allegations about that location. Use the contact steps above for station, card and app problems.
