UAIC (United Automobile Insurance Company)
United Automobile Insurance Company (UAIC) is a Miami Gardens, Florida auto insurer offering non-standard private passenger and commercial auto products. This page gives UAIC's own claim portal and the Florida regulator's complaint route, what a 2001 Florida consent order and a 2015 Illinois examination report say, an Arizona 2014 consent order, a Florida financial examination, the BBB figures as displayed on October 14, 2026, its Florida receivership-list status, and four court cases with their outcomes. Complaints and lawsuits are allegations unless a court or regulator states a finding, and the page gives no rating of its own.

UAIC: how to report a claim, dispute it or complain (checked October 14, 2026)
United Automobile Insurance Company (UAIC) is a Miami Gardens, Florida auto insurer that offers non-standard private passenger and commercial auto products. People searching this page are usually (a) UAIC policyholders with a claim, (b) other drivers or passengers whose claim is against a UAIC-insured driver, or (c) providers and shops waiting on payment. The routes below come from UAIC's own pages and Florida state pages opened on October 14, 2026. Your policy, the letters you received and Florida or your state's insurance law control over any summary here.
Report a claim. UAIC's Claims FAQ (uaig.net, opened October 14, 2026) lists two options under 'How do I report a claim?': policyholders can use the company's digital claims portal ('file claims and track status updates 24/7 from any device', myclaim.uaig.net), and 'You can also report your claim via our toll-free number during regular business hours by calling 800 344 2150'. The FAQ asks for the policy number, other parties' insurance information and phone numbers, the police report number and department, the date, time and place of the accident, and the vehicle's location.
Check status or send documents. The same FAQ says, under 'What is the status of my claim?': 'All parties can use our inquiry portal to check claim status, or submit claim inquiries, and/or documents to adjuster handling your claim. It is available 24/7' (claimstatus.uaig.net). That route is the one the FAQ gives to people who are not UAIC policyholders. UAIC's Claim Center Portal page (mypolicy.uaig.net) also offers 'File a Claim', 'Claim Status' and 'Continue As Guest' links and a separate 'Subro Payment' link, and UAIC's claims page lists short help videos titled 'How to send message and documents to your adjuster', 'How to schedule an appraisal', 'How to check claim status if you are not a UAIC customer' and 'How to report a claim'.
Repair shops and providers. The FAQ says that if more damage is found after repairs start, 'the repair facility needs to call our supplement hotline and request a supplement'. The pages opened did not state a separate billing or payment route for medical providers; the Subro Payment link above is the only payment-related link on the portal page.
If the claim is stuck. Keep a dated record of every call, letter and upload: claim number, adjuster name, what was promised and when. Ask in writing for the specific document or estimate you are waiting for, and for the written reason if a claim is denied or reduced.
Complain to the regulator. For a Florida policy or claim, the Florida Department of Financial Services (DFS) Division of Consumer Services takes insurance concerns through its Consumer Assistance Portal. Its page asks you to provide 'The exact name of the insurance company', the adjuster's name if any, your policy number, your claim number and date of loss, a copy of your declarations page, a detailed description and supporting documents. For a policy issued in another state, the insurance department of that state is the regulator; UAIC has been examined by Illinois (see the regulator section).
BBB. UAIC has a BBB file with a published complaint process; the figures are in the complaint record section.
Regulator actions and examinations that name UAIC
Florida Department of Insurance consent order, 2001 (Case No. 41688-01-CO). The order recites an agreement between UAIC and the Department after a market conduct examination covering January 1998 through December 1999. It states that the Department 'determined that UNITED AUTOMOBILE committed the following violations of the Florida Insurance Code or Florida Administrative Code': failure to follow a filed rate, rating schedule, rule or underwriting guideline (private passenger auto and cancellations/nonrenewals, s. 627.0651), failure to properly forward automobile titles (s. 319.30), failure to comply with third-party claim payment requirements (s. 627.743), failure to properly compute sales tax (rule 4-166.026) and, under complaints, failure to comply with unfair trade practice requirements (s. 626.9541). UAIC agreed to pay 'an administrative penalty of $2,500 and administrative costs of $500', to comply with the Insurance Code and to implement the report's recommendations within 90 days; it waived a hearing and any right to contest the order. The copy opened is an unsigned form with the day left blank ('this _____day of ______________, 2001'), so its exact date is not stated.
Illinois Department of Insurance market conduct examination report (published November 2015). The examination ran from November 3, 2014 through January 23, 2015 and covered July 1, 2013 through June 30, 2014. Its table of violations includes, for example: 18 of 99 private passenger auto cancellation files (18.18%) lacking the required notice content under 215 ILCS 5/143.15; 3 of 8 rescinded policies (37.50%) rescinded after being effective for more than one term or one year (215 ILCS 5/154); in total-loss files, 26 of 31 (83.87%) with the words 'full & final' on the check to the insured and 28 of 31 (90.32%) without the right-of-recourse letter within 7 days, which the report ties to Order #5 of 'the Stipulation and Consent Orders entered on September 17, 2004'; and 5 of 31 total-loss files (16.13%) with underpayments totaling $1,713.34. The report is an examination report; the copy opened does not itself state a penalty, and this site did not find an Illinois order in the sources checked on October 14, 2026.
Arizona Department of Insurance consent order, January 2014 (Docket 14A-003-INS). The Department's 'Orders Filed: 1/1/2014 - 12/31/2014' enforcement report (report date January 21, 2015) lists 'United Automobile Insurance Company (NAIC 35319)', type of action Consent Order, order date 1/10/2014, civil penalty $14,000.00, settled by consent 'Yes', source 'MOD' (market conduct exam), with the entry 'Correct violations. Submit evidence of compliance w/in 90 days. Department shall verify compliance. Civil penalty of $14,000. Exam report and objection letter shall be filed.' The report says full order details require a paper copy from the Department, so the order's own findings are not quoted here.
Other Florida regulator records. The Florida Office of Insurance Regulation's market regulation index (floir.gov, opened October 14, 2026) also lists documents titled 'United Automobile Insurance Company 07-24-2001', 'United Automobile Insurance Company 03-04-2004', 'United Automobile Insurance Company Consent Order 74212-03-CO' and 'United Automobile Insurance Company 05-25-2007'. This site read only the 03-04-2004 document in full; the others are listed here by title and their contents are not summarized. The 03-04-2004 market conduct examination report says UAIC 'writes non-standard private passenger automobile liability, personal injury protection, private passenger automobile physical damage insurance, commercial automobile liability and commercial automobile physical damage insurance', that only private passenger coverages were reviewed, and that in the claims review 'Six (6) errors resulted in underpayments totaling $22,667' with a pending item that the company 'must pay past due bills as identified in the Claims Section totaling $11,152.55'. The report also notes that 1,294 consumer complaints were filed against UAIC from June 2002 through May 2003.
Florida OIR financial examination as of December 31, 2023. The examination report (published May 2025; fieldwork concluded February 19, 2025) lists a 'Reserve Deficiency' finding: the examination actuary's central estimate of net unpaid loss and loss adjustment expense reserves was $237.3 million against recorded net reserves of $146.4 million (gross $297.3 million against $190.5 million). It says the examination was not recommending a refiling of the 2023 annual statement because the development 'has already been included in the 2024 Annual Statement', in which the company 'has recognized adverse development of $112,614,778'. The same report states that surplus as regards policyholders at December 31, 2023 was $86,395,641, which 'exceeded the minimum of $14,460,800 required by Section 624.408, Florida Statutes'. A reserve finding is a regulator's accounting estimate and is not a statement about whether claims will be paid.
Receivership status. On October 14, 2026 the Florida DFS Division of Rehabilitation and Liquidation 'Companies in Receivership' page listed 12 companies in liquidation and none in rehabilitation, and UAIC was not among them; its Closed Companies list also did not show a company named United Automobile Insurance Company. A different insurer, United Property & Casualty Insurance Company, appears in the liquidation list; it is not UAIC. Absence from a receivership list says nothing about the reserve finding described above, and the reserve finding does not state that UAIC is insolvent.
Who UAIC is
The Florida Division of Corporations record (Sunbiz, opened October 14, 2026) shows United Automobile Insurance Company, document number J85368, filed 03/02/1989 in Florida, status ACTIVE, with an annual report filed 07/01/2026, a 'Last Event' of AMENDMENT with an event date filed of 08/24/2026 (the filing image was not opened, so its content is not described), a mailing address shown as the same 1313 NW 167 Street address, and its officers and directors listed at 1313 NW 167 Street, Miami Gardens, FL 33169. The Illinois examination report says UAIC 'was incorporated on March 2, 1989 in North Miami Beach, FL to provide a high quality and low cost insurance product to the non-standard automobile insurance market', that 'The company is family owned', and that it was 'currently providing auto insurance in 13 states: FL, IL, MS, OK, TX, GA, UT, NV, IN, AZ, SC, AR, PA' as of that 2014 to 2015 examination. The Florida OIR financial examination as of December 31, 2023 lists UAIC as authorized to transact insurance in Arizona, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Nebraska, New York, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina and Utah, and in Florida for private passenger auto liability and physical damage and commercial auto liability and physical damage; it also says UAIC 'commenced business on July 1, 1990'.
UAIC's privacy notice (mypolicy.uaig.net) says its policy applies 'to all companies within the United Automobile Insurance Group family of companies', naming United Automobile Insurance Company, United Automobile Insurance Services and United Group Underwriters, under the heading 'United Automobile Insurance Holdings, LLC'. UAIC's own site describes products including automobile insurance, SR22 insurance, non-owner policies and commercial auto insurance, sold through agents ('Find an Agent Near You').
Names to keep apart: 'United Auto Credit' (UACC) is an auto lender and 'United Auto Insurance Group' and 'UAIG' appear in some older reviews; this page covers the insurer United Automobile Insurance Company only.
Complaint record: BBB, ComplaintsBoard and this site's archive (as of October 14, 2026)
BBB. On the BBB profile for United Automobile Insurance Company, 1313 NW 167th St, Miami, FL (page text retrieved October 14, 2026), BBB shows the company as accredited, with a rating of A+. The complaints tab says '218 total complaints in the last 3 years' and '53 complaints filed in the last 12 months'; its status filter shows 184 'Complaint Answered' and 34 'Complaint Resolved', and its type filter shows Service or Repair Issues 165, Product Issues 25, Order Issues 8, Billing Issues 7, Sales and Advertising Issues 7 and Customer Service Issues 6. The reviews tab shows '1.12/5 stars' and 'Average of 76 Customer Reviews'. BBB says customer reviews are not used in its letter grade, and these are different BBB measures shown as displayed. BBB also notes that displayed complaint text may not represent all complaints filed. UAIC's written replies on the complaints tab come from its compliance staff; the most recent one opened (dated September 2, 2026) says the adjuster 'finalized the claim' and that payment 'has been issued to the complainant'.
ComplaintsBoard. The ComplaintsBoard page for 'United Automobile Insurance Company [UAIC]' says it has received 63 complaints, the first published August 22, 2008 and the most recent May 18, 2023, with 7 marked resolved. These are user-submitted and not verified by this site. Trustpilot could not be opened on October 14, 2026 (access denied), so no Trustpilot figures are stated.
This site's archive. 10 approved complaint posts from 2006 to 2012 are about UAIC itself. They are allegations by individual writers and are not verified findings. By keyword count within those 10 posts: 7 mention a denied or unpaid claim, 6 mention delay or being given a runaround, 3 mention a policy or signature dispute (excluded driver, signed name, rescission) and 2 mention rental or a total loss. The count is a keyword match, not a measure of how common any problem is among UAIC's customers.
Court cases involving UAIC
The cases below are those checked on CourtListener and Florida court pages on October 14, 2026; other cases exist and are not listed. Complaints and bad faith claims are allegations unless a court states a finding.
- Bad faith judgment affirmed. In United Automobile Insurance Co. v. Estate of Levine (Fla. 3d DCA, listed by FindLaw as 2011), the court affirmed a final judgment under the Florida bad faith statute. The case arose from a December 2001 collision involving a UAIC insured with $10,000 per person bodily injury limits; the dissent describes the judgment as $5.2 million. UAIC argued among other points that evidence of its prompt settlement of two of four claims was wrongly excluded; the majority found no abuse of discretion or reversible error.
- Judgment for UAIC on appeal. In United Automobile Insurance Co. v. Buchalter (Fla. 4th DCA No. 4D22-14, August 3, 2022), the court reversed a $45,000 county court judgment for a chiropractic provider because the PIP statute 'did not provide a private right of action for the claims'.
- Commercial dispute decided for UAIC. In MSP Recovery Claims, Series LLC v. United Automobile Insurance Company (S.D. Fla. 1:20-cv-20887), the court entered final judgment for UAIC on July 13, 2021; the Eleventh Circuit affirmed on February 22, 2023 (No. 21-12439). This was a Medicare Secondary Payer Act recovery suit by an assignee, not a policyholder complaint.
- Telephone-law class action dismissed. Reyero v. United Automobile Insurance Company (S.D. Fla. 1:25-cv-20624) was a putative class action filed February 11, 2025 alleging Telephone Consumer Protection Act and Florida Telephone Solicitation Act violations; the plaintiff filed a notice of voluntary dismissal and the court dismissed the case on May 29, 2025 (order entered May 30, 2025).
Is UAIC (United Automobile Insurance Company) Legitimate?
The Florida Division of Corporations lists United Automobile Insurance Company as an active Florida corporation (document J85368, filed 03/02/1989). BBB records show license number NAIC35319 issued by the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation, and the Florida Department of Insurance's 2001 consent order calls UAIC 'a domestic property and casualty insurer authorized to transact insurance business in Florida'. This site could not render the current Florida OIR company search on October 14, 2026, so current licensing in each state was not independently confirmed. UAIC was not on the Florida DFS receivership lists that day. A Florida OIR financial examination as of December 31, 2023 reports surplus of $86,395,641 above the statutory minimum and also a reserve deficiency finding (see the regulator section). Regulators have also issued findings against UAIC (the 2001 Florida consent order, an Arizona consent order of January 2014 and Illinois' 2015 examination report), a court affirmed a bad faith judgment against it, and BBB shows an A+ rating alongside a 1.12 out of 5 review average; these are shown as sourced and are not combined into a score.
