Twitch complaints: refunds, cancelling a subscription and where to complain

This page was checked on 2026-10-20. No published complaint reports are currently linked to this profile.

  • Cancel a subscription. The Terms of Sale say "You may cancel your Subscription Service at any time by selecting the 'Do Not Renew' option under your subscription settings" and that you "must cancel your Subscription Service at least 24 hours before its renewal date to avoid being charged for the next subscription period". Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current payment period.
  • Banned or suspended accounts. The Terms of Service say Twitch's right to terminate its services "includes the ability to terminate or to suspend your access to any purchased products or services, including any subscriptions, Prime Gaming, or Turbo accounts", and the refund article says Twitch "reserves the right to restrict purchase access or suspend accounts that are found to be in violation of our refund policies".
  • Refunds. The Terms of Sale (Section 11) state: "our policy is not to allow cancellations after a purchase and not to offer refunds, including, without limitation, Subscription Services fees", to the extent permitted by law, with exceptions at Twitch's sole discretion. The Help Desk article "Refunds on Twitch" adds that Twitch does not offer refunds for recurring subscriptions "except in circumstances where technical issues impact the purchase or benefits relating to a subscription, where the purchase of a subscription was fraudulently made, or where otherwise required by law". The same article says Twitch "may offer limited refunds on purchases of recurring subscriptions", that "Decisions whether to refund a subscription purchase are solely within Twitch's discretion", and that examples of technical issues include "duplicate purchases, specific error messages, missing benefits, or other outages". Gift subscriptions "are not refundable except where the purchaser experienced a technical issue with the purchase, the purchase was fraudulently made, or where otherwise required by law". Bits that have been Cheered cannot be reversed or refunded except for technical issues, suspected fraudulent activity or where required by law. If a refund is issued, the article says funds go to the original payment method "within 10 business days".
  • How to ask. The help article says purchases made on the Twitch website or Android app are requested through the Twitch Help Portal (while logged in, choose the subscription or purchase category and "Refund Request"), and that invoice IDs show where a purchase was made: Google Play IDs begin with "GPA.", Apple IDs are alphanumeric, web purchases are a series of numbers. For a technical-issue request the article asks for "screenshots, error codes, and (if applicable) which Twitch channels are involved". For a purchase made through the Twitch iOS app, the article says to "contact Apple support for help" and that "Apple's refund policy will apply". Unauthorized transactions should be reported through the Help Desk. Gift cards bought from retailers are handled by the retailer.
  • Mail. The Terms of Sale list "Purchase Support, Twitch Interactive, Inc., 350 Bush Street, 2nd Floor, San Francisco, CA 94104 USA"; the Terms of Service say to write to the same address, "Attn: Customer Support".
  • If Twitch does not resolve it. You can file a complaint with the FTC (reportfraud.ftc.gov) or the California Attorney General, and ask your card issuer about a chargeback for an unauthorized charge. These are general consumer routes, not steps Twitch's pages describe.

The Terms of Service say disputes are governed by California law and must be brought in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California or a California state court in San Francisco County, and that legal claims must be brought within one year after the cause of action accrues, to the extent the law permits.

They contain separate wording for consumers in the EU, EEA, UK and Switzerland. The Terms of Service text opened on 2026-10-20 does not contain the word arbitration.

Before filing a lawsuit, the Terms of Service say you must first send an informal dispute resolution notice to Twitch's registered agent, Corporation Service Company, using the instructions on Twitch's Service of Process page, after which "you and Twitch will have 60 days from Twitch's receipt" for informal discussions; limitation periods are "tolled for the 60-day period". The same Terms cap Twitch's aggregate liability at the amount you paid in the twelve months before the claim or one hundred dollars, whichever is greater (capitalized wording in the Terms).
