Rocket Money

Rocket Money is a personal-finance app (budgeting, subscription tracking and cancellation requests, bill negotiation, savings goals) run by Rocket Money, Inc. of Silver Spring, Maryland, formerly Truebill, Inc., which Rocket Companies acquired in December 2021. The core app is free and paid tiers (Premium, Premium+) and a success fee on bill negotiation are optional. This page starts with how to cancel Premium, request a subscription cancellation, handle a bill-negotiation fee and reach support, then lists the documented record: BBB and CFPB database counts and Trustpilot as displayed on October 11, 2026, an advocacy-group complaint to the CFPB from December 2022, and one 2021 court docket. On the CFPB enforcement-actions page no action naming Rocket Money or Truebill was identified on October 11, 2026.

Rocket Money problems: cancel Premium, stop a charge, bill negotiation fees, contact (checked October 11, 2026)

Rocket Money is an app run by Rocket Money, Inc. (f/k/a Truebill, Inc.) per its Terms of Service (effective 10/02/2026). The Terms describe an optional premium fee that "may vary in price" and say "You may choose the price you pay for Rocket Money Premium Services"; the Help Center says Premium+ is "$15/month plus tax". Charges people ask about fall into three groups: the Premium or Premium+ membership, a Bill Negotiation success fee, and savings transfers into a Financial Goal (the Help Center says these are "not charges, but deposits").

Contact. The Help Center says the quickest route is chat in the app, or email to [email protected] from the address tied to your account, Monday to Friday 9am to 8pm EST, and that "all our support is currently provided digitally" (no phone line is published there). It also says that although Rocket Money is under Rocket Companies, "we can only assist with your Rocket Money account"; Rocket Mortgage and Rocket Loans have separate support teams. The Help Center gives [email protected] for problems with a subscription-cancellation request and [email protected] for Bill Negotiation.

Cancel Rocket Money Premium. Per the Help Center (article dated July 30, 2026): in the mobile app open Settings, Membership, Manage Membership, move the slider all the way left to $0/month, tap Cancel Subscription and follow the prompts; on the website use Settings, Membership, Manage, the same slider, then Cancel Subscription. It adds: "Cancellation takes effect at the end of your billing cycle", cancelling Premium "does not delete your Rocket Money account", and "Any active Bill Negotiations remain in place." The Terms also say you can stop subscription-fee debits by cancelling Premium or Premium+ or closing the account, and that notice should be given "at least 3 business days before the next scheduled debit date".

Delete the account. The Help Center says deleting "will permanently erase all of your Rocket Money data and cannot be undone", and lists cancelling Premium, cancelling active bill negotiations and closing active Financial Goals first. In the app: Settings, Profile, scroll to the bottom, Delete My Account. On the website: the Settings icon in the left-hand sidebar, Profile, scroll to the bottom, Delete Rocket Money Account, then confirm. The article adds that a separate Rocket account, such as Rocket Mortgage, is not deleted.

Free trial. Two Help Center articles differ in wording: one says new Premium members "will receive a 7-day free trial"; the sign-up article says "Most new users are eligible for a free trial when first signing up through the app." Check the trial terms shown at sign-up in the app.

Ask Rocket Money to cancel another subscription. Per the Help Center, Premium members open the subscriptions list in the app, tap the three dots next to a subscription, then Cancel and "Cancel This For Me". It says most cancellations take "2-10 business days", status appears in the app's subscriptions list and by email, and if no Cancel option is shown "Rocket Money is not yet able to cancel that particular subscription" and the app gives self-cancellation instructions. Subscriptions billed through Apple, Google Play, Amazon, Roku or PayPal must be cancelled on those platforms. If you were charged after a cancellation, the Help Center tells you to use in-app chat or [email protected] with as many details as possible. The cancellation article adds that "a charge may go through before the cancellation is confirmed, depending on your billing cycle" and recommends "disputing any unexpected charges with your bank if needed". Under the Terms Rocket Money acts as your "limited agent" for the requested cancellation or negotiation.

Bill Negotiation fee. The Help Center says the fee is charged only when a negotiation is successful, is "35% - 60% of your first year's savings" (the percentage is chosen by the member within that range), applies after a 48-hour window unless a payment plan (weekly, bi-weekly or monthly, up to 12 months) is set up, and "is not refundable once charged". The Terms say the fee is "non-refundable, except in the event that an error was made during the Bill Negotiation, or except as otherwise required by applicable law." The Terms and Help Center also state that starting November 2, 2026 new Bill Negotiations will be available only with Premium+, with no negotiation fee, and automatic renegotiations will end; negotiations already in progress continue under their agreed fee.

Refunds and credits. For the Bill Negotiation fee see the paragraph above. The Terms add a cancellation-related remedy for negotiated services: if you cancel the service for which Rocket Money negotiated, "you must notify Rocket Money in writing no later than thirty (30) days after your provider services are canceled in order to receive a pro-rata credit for the days remaining in the month"; if you cancel before all savings appear on your bill, documentation of the last date of service is due within 30 days and Rocket Money "will adjust your invoice on a pro-rata basis"; and "If you’ve paid in advance, we’ll issue you a credit to use toward future Bill Negotiations with Rocket Money." The stated remedy is therefore a prorated adjustment or a credit toward future negotiations, not a cash refund. A general refund clause for Premium membership charges was not identified on the Terms page when it was read on 2026-10-11, and no standalone refund article for Premium charges was identified in the Help Center collections checked that day. For a charge you do not recognise, the Help Center suggests checking whether an authorized user on the bank account pays for a Rocket Money service.

Unauthorized or erroneous transfers. The Terms say: "You agree to contact us immediately if you believe an error has occurred or an unauthorized transfer has been made from your account. We will handle your notice in accordance with Regulation E and our error resolution procedures. Your notice will be forwarded to our bank partner(s) for investigation and resolution".

Disputes with the company. The Terms (section 26) say: "ANY DISPUTE OR CLAIM RELATING IN ANY WAY TO THE SERVICES ... WILL BE RESOLVED BY BINDING ARBITRATION, RATHER THAN IN COURT", except that either side may use small claims court "if the claims qualify". Notice requirements: "You must notify us in writing within two (2) years of any dispute arising under this Agreement", sent to Rocket Money Inc., 8455 Colesville Road, Suite 1645, Silver Spring, MD 20910 or by email to [email protected], "or you will waive your right to bring these claims in arbitration or small claims court". The notice must be signed by you, describe your relationship with Rocket Money, the supporting facts and the claims, and you must "allow sixty (60) days from receipt of notice" before filing an arbitration or small-claims matter. On governing law the Terms make two statements: "Michigan state law governs this Agreement without regard to its conflicts of laws provisions", and "The Federal Arbitration Act governs the interpretation and enforcement of this provision; the arbitrator shall apply Michigan law to all other matters." Read the clause itself before relying on this summary.

Where else to complain. The CFPB complaint portal says it accepts complaints about, among others, checking and savings accounts, debt and credit management, and money transfers, and that "Most companies respond within 15 days." The FTC takes reports at reportfraud.ftc.gov and says it cannot resolve an individual report. The CFPB says that if "another agency would be better able to assist, we’ll send it to them"; not every Rocket Money issue (for example a dispute about a bill negotiation fee) is necessarily a financial-product complaint within the CFPB’s list, and for suspected fraud the CFPB page points to the state attorney general and the FTC. You can also use the BBB complaint process described below.

Regulators and watchdog filings

EPIC complaint to the CFPB (December 2022). The Electronic Privacy Information Center (EPIC) published a complaint on December 7, 2022, filed with the CFPB by the NYU Tech Law and Policy Clinic on EPIC's behalf, captioned "In the Matter of Rocket Companies, Inc." and directed at Rocket Money (formerly Truebill). It alleges unfair, deceptive and abusive practices under the Dodd-Frank Act (including about how the paid tiers and Bill Negotiation fee were presented and about privacy statements) and violations of the Fair Credit Reporting Act. This is an advocacy group's filing; the allegations are EPIC's, and the sources checked did not show a CFPB decision or public response to it. Rocket Money's response was not identified.

Enforcement actions. On 2026-10-11 the CFPB enforcement-actions page, filtered by the keyword "Rocket", returned one action, against Rocket Homes Real Estate LLC and others (filed December 23, 2024), which does not name Rocket Money; the same page filtered by "Truebill" returned no results. The CourtListener federal-docket search described in the court-record section returned one docket. A search of the FTC case library and of individual state attorney-general sites was not completed for this page, so this page makes no statement about those sources. Non-public inquiries would not appear in any of these sources.

CFPB complaint database. The figures in the complaint-record section are consumer submissions published by the CFPB; they are not findings against the company.

Who runs Rocket Money

The Terms of Service name "Rocket Money, Inc. (f/k/a Truebill, Inc.)" as owner and operator of the website and app, with a notice address in Silver Spring, Maryland. The BBB lists the same address and alternate names Truebill Corp, Truebill and Truebill, Inc. The company says Truebill was founded in 2015 (Rocket Companies press release, December 20, 2021); BBB's raw page data gives an incorporation date of 2015-11-23.

Ownership. Rocket Companies announced on December 20, 2021 an agreement to acquire Truebill "for $1.275 billion in cash" and described Truebill as having 2.5 million members; its FY2021 Form 10-K states it "completed the acquisition of Truebill, Inc." on December 23, 2021 "for total cash consideration of approximately $1.2 billion". Rocket Money's website footer says Rocket Money, Inc. is, with Rocket Mortgage, LLC, Rocket Loans, LLC and Rocket Close, LLC, a "separate operating subsidiary" of Rocket Limited Partnership, which together with Redfin Corporation is wholly owned by Rocket Companies, Inc. (NYSE: RKT), and that "Each company is a separate legal entity". The company-updates page lists a July 19, 2022 post titled "From Our CEO: Truebill to Become Rocket Money".

What the service does. Per its Terms and Help Center: it links bank and card accounts to track spending and subscriptions; Premium members can ask it to request cancellations; it offers bill negotiation with a negotiation fee (moving to Premium+ on November 2, 2026); Financial Goals and a high-yield savings account (the footer says banking services are provided by nbkc bank, member FDIC); and, from Premium+, "Rowan by Rocket Money", which the Help Center calls an AI financial assistant. The company's own About page claims "10 million+" app users; that figure is the company's statement.

Sales tax. The Help Center says that since December 1, 2023 sales tax is added to Premium and Premium+ in a list of states, so the charge can exceed the chosen price.

Court record

A CourtListener RECAP search run on 2026-10-11 (case name: Truebill OR "Rocket Money", ordered by date filed, newest first) returned one docket, the Martinez case below, with "Truebill" in the case name and none with "Rocket Money"; that search covers only federal dockets CourtListener holds and does not cover state courts or arbitration.

Martinez v. Truebill, Inc., No. 1:21-cv-03644 (E.D.N.Y.), filed June 29, 2021, before the Rocket Companies acquisition closed. The docket as published by CourtListener (opened newest first on 2026-10-11, last known filing November 4, 2021) shows a notice of settlement on September 23, 2021, a stipulation of dismissal on October 25, 2021, and an order dismissing the case on November 4, 2021. The complaint text was not available in the free docket, so the claims are not stated here, and the settlement terms are not on the docket.

The Terms of Service also describe a bellwether process for coordinated individual arbitrations. That is a contract term, not a record of any proceeding.

Is Rocket Money Legitimate?

Rocket Money is operated by Rocket Money, Inc. (f/k/a Truebill, Inc.), which identifies a Silver Spring, Maryland notice address in its Terms of Service (effective 10/02/2026). Its website states that it is a subsidiary, through Rocket Limited Partnership, of Rocket Companies, Inc. (NYSE: RKT), and Rocket Companies' FY2021 Form 10-K records the Truebill acquisition completed on December 23, 2021.

On the review sites, as displayed on October 11, 2026: BBB shows Accredited with an A+ rating, 212 complaints in the last 3 years and 1.52/5 from 67 customer reviews; Trustpilot shows 3.9 from 4,216 reviews with a notice that the company has not invited customers recently; the CFPB database lists 41 complaints under the name TRUEBILL, INC. These sources measure different things and are not combined.

On the CFPB enforcement-actions page, searched on October 11, 2026 for "Rocket" and "Truebill", no action naming Rocket Money or Truebill was identified; other regulator sources were not searched for this page. A December 2022 EPIC complaint to the CFPB made allegations about its practices that have not been adjudicated. The practical points that matter most to users are in the first section: Premium cancellation takes effect at the end of the billing cycle, cancelling Premium does not delete the account, and the negotiation fee is described as non-refundable once charged.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I cancel Rocket Money Premium?

The Help Center says to open Settings, then Membership, then Manage Membership in the mobile app (Settings, Membership, Manage on the website), move the slider all the way left to $0/month and select Cancel Subscription. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the billing cycle, and the account and any active Bill Negotiations remain.

Does cancelling Premium delete my Rocket Money account?

Per the Help Center, cancelling Premium "does not delete your Rocket Money account". Deleting the account is a separate step (Settings, Profile, Delete My Account) that the Help Center says permanently erases the data and cannot be undone; it recommends cancelling Premium, active bill negotiations and Financial Goals first.

How long does it take Rocket Money to cancel another subscription for me?

The Help Center says cancellations are typically processed within "2-10 business days", depending on the merchant, with some completed the same day and complex ones longer. It says status appears in the app's subscriptions list and by email, and that subscriptions billed through Apple, Google Play, Amazon, Roku or PayPal have to be cancelled on those platforms.

How much is the Rocket Money bill negotiation fee, and is it refundable?

The Help Center says the fee is "35% - 60% of your first year's savings", chosen by the member, charged only when a negotiation is successful, and "not refundable once charged"; the Terms add an exception where "an error was made during the Bill Negotiation" or where law requires. The Terms also describe a prorated credit, or a credit toward future negotiations, if you cancel the negotiated service and notify Rocket Money in writing within 30 days. From November 2, 2026 new negotiations require Premium+ and carry no negotiation fee, per the Help Center.

Why is there a Rocket Money charge on my statement?

The Help Center lists Premium Membership charges (optional, with a chosen price), Bill Negotiation fees, and Financial Goal deposits, which it says are transfers rather than charges. It also notes an authorized user on a shared bank account may be paying for a Rocket Money service. Support is reachable by in-app chat or [email protected].

Does Rocket Money have a customer service phone number?

The Help Center article "Contacting Rocket Money" (August 14, 2024) lists chat and email only and says "all our support is currently provided digitally". A BBB-listed number, (313) 373-5400, appears on the BBB profile; the company's Help Center does not publish it as a support line.

Who owns Rocket Money, and is it the same as Rocket Mortgage?

Rocket Money's website footer lists Rocket Money, Inc. and Rocket Mortgage, LLC as separate operating subsidiaries of Rocket Limited Partnership, which is wholly owned by Rocket Companies, Inc., and says each is a separate legal entity. The Help Center says Rocket Money support can assist only with Rocket Money accounts, not Rocket Mortgage or Rocket Loans accounts.

What do the Rocket Money Terms say about resolving disputes?

The Terms (effective 10/02/2026) provide for binding arbitration with a class-action waiver (small claims allowed if the claim qualifies). They say "You must notify us in writing within two (2) years of any dispute arising under this Agreement", by mail to the Silver Spring address or by email to [email protected], "or you will waive your right to bring these claims in arbitration or small claims court", and require 60 days from receipt of notice before filing. On governing law they state both that "Michigan state law governs this Agreement" and that "The Federal Arbitration Act governs the interpretation and enforcement of this provision; the arbitrator shall apply Michigan law to all other matters." Read the clause itself for the exact terms.

Where can I file a complaint about Rocket Money?

Start with in-app chat or the support addresses above. Outside the company, the CFPB complaint portal accepts complaints about products such as checking and savings accounts and debt and credit management and says most companies respond within 15 days and that it sends a complaint to another agency when that agency would be better able to assist; the FTC takes reports at reportfraud.ftc.gov; the BBB has its own complaint process.
