Baker Classic Cars, Inc
The owner, jack l. Baker, of this so called operation wrote me a check that he stopped payment on the next day for services i performed and completed on time and damage free for him

After contacting another transport company regarding the shipping of a 2002 Ford T-Bird from Pompano Beach, Fl to East Peoria, IL, the transport company said they would contact the customer and see if my dates to ship that car would be acceptable. Then I receive a call from Jack Baker from Baker Classic Cars, Inc. Saying he was the dealer who purchased this car and needed it shipped.
So I worked directly with him to ship this car which he then tells me it has a set of tires and wheels also that need to come also. Well I am an automobile shipper and this I told him, Where was I going to place these tires and wheels, Jack said Oh just put them in another customers vehicle. My driver stated to him this would be $200 extra which he argued and refused to pay, so they came to an agreement of only $100 in addition to the extemely good deal of $400 to ship the car also.
So his total was $500 payable on delivery. My driver delivered the car along with the extra wheels and tires and met the owner of Baker Classic Cars Jack Baker along with his son and another employee which helped my driver stack the tires in there shop.
Two days after delivery our office receives a call from Jack Baker stating that the driver damaged the car that there is a 4 inch tear above the head light. So we had the delivery receipt faxed to us by Jack Baker and our driver. The original inspection that my driver did on the car when he picked it up in Florida showed that tear among many more marks (20) on the vehicle as this car is 8 years old. So he stated that he was going to STOP payment on his check and that I owe him additional money for the repair. Jack Baker himself received this car in good condition and signed for the delivery of it to be received in good condition. He would not listen to a word we said and could care less what he signed and insisted that my driver did this damage which would be impossible to do on a car carrier.
I think Jack Baker is in the business to rip transporters off on a regular basis, that is why the 1st company chose to make no money on the deal and step out of the middle of it.
ICC regulations state regardless of damage you are still required to pay for the shipping of your vehicle and this man chose to do it the wrong way.
BEWARE do not take a business or personal check from this company, he will find a reason to stop payment on it!
