Town North Mazda
Horrible Incompetent Service and a Ripoff at Town North Mazda

My dashboard had been damaged when my 1999 Mazda Miata was broken into. I took my car to Town North Mazda in Richardson, TX. After 5 days they finally gave me back the car and it was a disaster.

They did not know how to reinstall my after market radio. The Radio did not work one of the 'A' pillar covers was not reinstalled correctly and one of the defroster vents was broken, they broke my window switch and the GPS Antenna cable was laying on the dash.

They said that my rear end noise was from my front brakes and not the rear end. They put new brakes on the front even though I thought the brakes worked fine. The Service Adviser (Victor Bernal) stated to me that they would pay to have the radio re-installed correctly.

I took it to the original installer (Circuit City) and after 4 hours and $210 later it was back to normal. Also, at that time the noise was still occurring from the rear end. They never even bothered to check it out or drive it.

Now the dealership is not honoring paying completely for the re-install and Terry Burden the Service Manager is calling me a liar and accusing me of fraud on the installation of the radio. Both Victor Bernal and Terry Burden are now stating that they told me that they could not deal with after market radios when I initially turned the car in. They informed me of this when I went to pick the car up, not when I dropped it off.

I do not want to pay for the shoddy work they did on my car which was $1300.00 they ended up being really ugly to me on the phone and I have never been treated this way by any company. Filed BBB Complaint.

Response to BBB Complaint ID#: 91038527

First of all Mr. Terry Burden is mistaken in every one of his points. I was not told when I dropped the car off for the repairs that they did not deal with aftermarket equipment. I would not have left the car for the repair if in fact that had been stated.

This was told to me after I went to pick up the vehicle and then they told me they would pay for the re-install of the radio as is stated in Mr. Burdens' response.

They in effect have acted in bad faith on this point. I have no proof that the brakes needed repair as I was not having issues with the brakes when I brought the car in and do not have any proof of this as they NEVER offered to show me or return my parts.

As to the noise in the rear it had nothing to do with the brakes and how is it that a noise in the rear translates to bad front brakes? Also, I never told them that the noise happened when I braked.

Their original paperwork does not state this misinformation by Mr. Burden. This is a huge discrepancy on their part. As reinstallation of the radio I have a date and timed stamp receipt of the work done and the mileage was a guess as to what it was as I was not in the car when I filled it out. This has nothing to do with what was promised to me by the dealership and is a ploy to get out of what they promised.

I also have proof from the installer and the manager of Circuit City where the re-install took place as to the damage to the radio and my car as well as to the date and time it was fixed, as well as video surveillance of my visit.

When I dropped my car off to Town North Mazda everything was in working order, I got it back in very poor condition, I did not receive any of my parts back and I have consequently found additional problems with the work done to my car. My dashboard lights do not work; there are loose parts rolling around in the dash.

Mr. Burdens' failure to address the problems of the broken defroster vent and the 'A' pillar cover from my original BBB complaint is a presumption that they did cause that damage during the repair.

I was the one that was called a liar and a fraud and I have documentation, witnesses and proof of what I am stating in my complaint against Town North Mazda and its representatives.

In addition I was charged the mechanical rate of $89/hr for the work on the Dash when I should have been charged the Body Work rate of $44.50/hr. This fact was admitted by the Service Adviser Victor Bernal to my Insurance agent as this repair was an insurance claim.

I have proof of this fact and can submit documentation to back it up. Mr. Burden stated that I was rude to the CS Rep at the Mazda corporate office; This is also untrue and again this can be proven as they record the conversations.

I have never agreed to drop this issue and will not stop pursuing this until it is made right. I have also filed to FTC Fraud Complaints

FTC Fraud complaints # 10404330 and 10364844.
