In September I refinanced my mortgage through Centex Home Equity to help with some much needed home repairs. Everything was done via internet and email except for the closing through one of those advertisements that sends lists of mortgage companies that are willing to work with people of my background, (A single mother with one income, and hardly any credit. I was told that I would be saving money, I would get money back to pay off debts and have money for home repairs.
Well it ends up they only did it for enough money to pay a portion of my car balance, which I didn't ask to them to pay for and an 11 year old hospital bill, which I didn't ask them to pay for. And I ended up with a higher mortgage note than I previously had, not to mention that insurance and property taxes were not included in the note. So I have been with out property insurance and unable to pay my property taxes, because I'm struggling to pay a higher note.
I have been called by so many of their representatives, threatened and harrassed at home and on my job my some. I was told by one rep to just sell my property. A manager there told me that he shouldn't have told me that, and that he would be willing to work with me, but all of a sudden he got amnesia. I get calls starting on Sunday mornings at 7:00 A.M. From Centex.
One agent had me to start doing electronic checks, where they would call me to see if they could draft from my account, well that turned to a nightmare. I didn't know that he set it up to draft every month out of my account without my knowledge. I am a couple of months behind, I have been trying to make the regular monthly payment, but I am so discouraged by the treatment that I get from these people. And my list of names from their company is growing. Just last night (3-30-04) one Manager told me I needed to go find somebody to borrow money from. And how come I didn't refinance.
One manager told me, are you crazy we are not refinancing you. One manager called me on my job and told me she was sick and tired of me playing games, she wanted to know when was I going to get paid and when was I going to get my income tax. I get paid once a month. And as soon as I make a payment to them, they call me up asking for more. I bring home a total of $1375.00 each month and I pay them $746.00 a month more mortgage plus $8.95 to moneygram it each month to them.
I am so depressed and disgusted. And I really don't know what to do. What kind of help is available for people in my situation. They don't even care that my property taxes is far behind, and also they did a forced insurance on my property that they were paying for and charging me, I got a notice that the insurance had lapsed for non payment. I had already stated that I could not afford to pay the rate that they wanted for insurance which was an additional $153.00 added to the $746.00, and plus a $100.00 a month for property taxes. My property is not even worth what they want for it each month. Should I sell it or what. Please HELP Me!
