Vinted refunds, the Vinted fee, account bans and where to complain: what Vinted's own pages say (checked October 6, 2026)

This section sets out what Vinted's own pages said when opened on October 6, 2026. This site has no archive posts about Vinted, and Vinted's U.S. service is recent: the company's press release dated January 22, 2026 says it was announcing its U.S. expansion that week, so the figures below are from a short U.S. history.

Which Vinted this is. The U.S. Terms say vinted.com is made available by Vinted Inc., "registered in Delaware", and that users must be residents of the continental United States, Alaska, Hawaii or Puerto Rico. The page displayed "New version applicable from 08-10-2026" without saying which date format it uses, so read the version shown to you before relying on the dates and numbers below. The same Terms say "We may enable Users to engage in cross-border transactions" and that, for a buyer, the Terms of the buyer's country of registration on Vinted apply to the contract with the seller, so the U.S. Terms are not the only terms that can matter for a transaction with a seller in another country.

Refund for a lost, damaged or "significantly not as described" order. The Vinted Refund Policy says it applies to purchases made with the "Buy now" button; payments made outside Vinted's system are not covered. After Vinted notifies you that the order should have been delivered or seems lost, you have "2 calendar days" to press "I have an issue" in the conversation screen. If you do not report in time, or you confirm you accept the order, "your payment will be sent to the seller and we’ll be unable to support you with a refund." Reporting suspends the order and the payment is held until the issue is resolved. The Help Center's chargeback article says "Buyers have 2 business days from the delivery date", so the two pages differ on the wording of the deadline; use the shorter one. For a not-as-described claim the policy asks for photos of the item, the outer and inner packaging and any visible damage. The seller may offer a full or partial refund, or ask you to return the item within 5 business days; buyers pay return shipping unless the seller provides a label. A parcel is treated as lost after Vinted's notification or after more than 25 business days since shipping. If you and the seller cannot agree, the policy says "our support team can help. We’ll review the case and all available details, then decide what should happen next."

What the policy says is not eligible. Orders already completed, items that match the description but do not fit or suit you, items with minor differences, and items used or damaged after delivery.

Disputing the charge with your bank or card issuer. Vinted's chargeback article says: "Before opening a chargeback with your payment provider, please contact us first," and that if you open a dispute outside Vinted before contacting it, "your account may be restricted, as per our Terms and Conditions." It also says you still have the right to raise a dispute with your payment provider.

Account bans. Vinted's ban article says the appeal link is in the inbox message or email with the moderation decision, that temporary bans end automatically after 7-30 days depending on the reason, that the article says "You can only appeal the decision once, and within 6 months of receiving the moderation decision notice", and that a permanently banned account can still be used to contact Vinted and to withdraw earnings, but "withdrawals may not be possible" if they pose a risk to other members, involve a compromised account or the ban is due to fraud risk as determined by the payment service provider. The Terms (section 7) say Vinted informs you in writing of a corrective action with the right to appeal, except where the law, a payment provider or a fraud investigation prevents it.

Where to complain. Vinted's Terms point to its contact form (https://www.vinted.com/help/support_tickets/new) for a disagreement with Vinted. Outside Vinted, the BBB profile points to econsumer.gov for complaints about companies outside the U.S., and the FTC's ReportFraud site (reportfraud.ftc.gov) accepts reports about fraud and bad business practices; the FTC says it cannot resolve individual reports.

Legal terms to read. The Terms include an arbitration agreement with a class-action and jury-trial waiver, Delaware governing law, and a right to opt out of arbitration within 30 days after first becoming subject to it by sending notice through the opt-out form the Terms link to. The Terms also describe an informal dispute resolution process by notice first, and say that if it does not resolve the dispute "within sixty (60) days after receipt of your Notice" either party may proceed to binding arbitration.

Regulators: EU dialogue, Lithuanian data-protection decisions and U.S. record

United States. No U.S. federal or state regulator order against Vinted was identified in the sources checked on October 6, 2026 (Vinted's own pages, a CourtListener RECAP party-name search, and web searches). The FTC press-release search page opened that day did not give a usable result, so that check was not completed and this is not a statement that no such action exists.

European Union consumer-protection dialogue (Vinted, not the U.S. service). A European Commission press release dated June 18, 2024 says that, following a dialogue with the Commission and national consumer authorities, Vinted improved its pricing information. It says the authorities had received complaints including about "the automatic addition of a fee to the purchase at check-out without informing consumers about it upfront." The Consumer Protection Cooperation Network, led by the Lithuanian State Consumer Rights Protection Authority, started the dialogue in December 2021. The release lists changes to Vinted's website and app, including clearer total prices and information on claiming a refund when a purchase does not arrive or is counterfeit, the counterfeit review process, identity verification for sellers, and review policy. It adds that Vinted did not agree to the Network's request on how to tell consumers that displayed prices do not include delivery fees, that national authorities may take enforcement measures, and that in some Member States there were ongoing legal proceedings against Vinted. The Dutch consumer authority ACM published a notice about the same agreement on the same date. These are EU measures under EU law; they do not describe the U.S. service.

Lithuanian data-protection matter (EU). A news item of the Lithuanian State Data Protection Inspectorate (VDAI) dated May 23, 2025 says the Regional Administrative Court rejected UAB Vinted's complaint against VDAI's decisions, and that the year before VDAI had imposed a fine of 2.385 million euros for GDPR violations in three areas: handling of data subjects' erasure requests and insufficiently clear information, failure to implement the accountability principle, and personal-data processing through so-called "shadow blocking" carried out without a clear and lawful basis. The item does not say whether a further appeal was filed. It concerns UAB Vinted under the EU GDPR, not Vinted Inc.

VDAI 2026 decisions register (EU only). VDAI's page "VDAI sprendimai (baudos, nurodymai ir kt.) 2026 m.", opened on October 6, 2026, lists nine entries with Vinted, UAB as the respondent, each with the result "Nustatyti pažeidimai" (Lithuanian for "violations established"): 3R-440 (March 16, 2026; right of access, GDPR Article 15), 3R-706 (April 20; right to erasure, Article 17, and the transparency and fairness principles, Article 5(1)(a)), 3R-745 (April 24; right of access, Articles 12 and 15), 3R-988 (May 28), 3R-1053 (June 9), 3R-1151 (June 22), 3R-1248 (July 7) and 3R-1258 (July 9) (each listing the fairness and transparency principles, Articles 5(1)(a) and 12, and the right to erasure, Article 17), and 3R-1707 (September 25; Articles 12(3) and 15(3), time limits and access). The register lists no fine amount for these entries, and this page does not describe any of them as a fine. They concern the EU service operated by Vinted, UAB and do not describe the U.S. service or Vinted Inc.

Company background

Vinted's U.S. Terms name Vinted Inc., registered in Delaware, as the company behind vinted.com, and give its address as 1000 N. West Street, Suite 1200, Wilmington, Delaware 19801. BBB lists the business as "Vinted inc" in San Francisco, CA 94109 and says it has not been able to confirm a physical U.S. location and that, according to a Secretary of State filing and the website, the company is based in Lithuania. Vinted's About page says the company started in Lithuania in 2008, has more than 2,000 people working from its Lithuanian headquarters and offices across Europe, and lists Thomas Plantenga as CEO and Adam Jay as CEO Marketplace. Its press release dated January 22, 2026 announced the U.S. expansion, and a press release of April 9, 2026 says Vinted Group grew gross merchandise value by 47 percent to 10.8 billion euros in 2025 (company-reported group figures, not U.S. figures).

How it works. Under the Terms, Vinted is a marketplace and "hosting provider": "we don’t buy or sell Items on the Catalogue and aren’t a party to any Transactions." Buyers pay the item price, shipping, the Vinted fee and any optional services into an escrow account controlled by a Vinted Wallet Provider; the Terms name Adyen N.V. (with a San Francisco branch) as the provider and say Vinted does not handle the payments itself. Sellers must open a Vinted Wallet within 5 calendar days of the first sale (the Terms say that otherwise "you will not be able to ship the sold item and the Transaction will be cancelled") and may be asked to complete KYC checks, which can include a Social Security number or identity documents. Vinted's About page says sellers pay "0% selling fees"; the Vinted fee is paid by buyers and is described under the fee question below.

Policies that change what you can do. The Terms say private-message conversations must concern an item, that Vinted may block accounts or hide listings for violations, that a user may have only one account, and that you grant Vinted a licence to use your Content, including for development of AI and machine-learning models, with an opt-out for marketing use in account settings.

Complaint record: USAComplaints posts, BBB and Trustpilot (as displayed October 6, 2026)

Posts on this site. This site has no approved archive posts about Vinted as of October 6, 2026. One older post whose text contains the letters "vinted" (a 2012 title using the word "invinted") concerns a different business and is not linked.

BBB. As displayed on October 6, 2026, the BBB profile for Vinted inc, San Francisco, CA shows an F rating and says the business is not BBB Accredited; its file was opened on June 14, 2026 (raw page data). BBB shows 352 total complaints in the last 3 years and 352 complaints closed in the last 12 months, lists "Failure to respond to 202 complaint(s) filed against business" among the reasons for the rating, and shows 1.06 out of 5 from an average of 48 customer reviews. The complaint tab groups complaints under headings including delivery issues and billing issues; BBB does not verify the accuracy of complaints or reviews.

Trustpilot. As displayed on October 6, 2026, Trustpilot's page for the vinted.com domain shows 1.2 out of 5 from 23,852 reviews, 6,066 of them in the last 12 months, with 31 percent five-star and 61 percent one-star reviews. The profile has been claimed since January 2022, the page says the company asks customers to review and has not replied to negative reviews, and it does not say how many reviewers used the U.S. service. Trustpilot's own AI summary of recent reviews mentions account bans, bot-like support replies and listing restrictions; that summary is Trustpilot's text, not a finding by this site.

The BBB and Trustpilot figures are collected from different groups of people at different times and are not added together or compared here. Vinted's position, as stated in its refund and ban articles, is that refunds follow its refund policy and that bans follow its Terms and Catalog Rules.

Court record

Joto Inc. v. Vinted, UAB (E.D. Tex.). A CourtListener docket for case 2:25-cv-00756 shows a complaint filed on August 1, 2025 against Vinted, UAB in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, a notice of voluntary dismissal on November 18, 2025 and an order dismissing the case on November 21, 2025. The docket entries include two forms titled "Notice of Filing of Patent/Trademark Form (AO 120)" (August 1 and November 21, 2025). Patsnap's case record, a third-party reproduction rather than the court's own page, describes the case as a patent infringement action and quotes the court's order accepting the plaintiff's notice of voluntary dismissal without prejudice under Federal Rule of Civil Procedure 41(a)(1)(A)(i), stating that the defendant had not yet answered. A complaint is an allegation and no finding of infringement or liability was made. It is a case against the Lithuanian entity and not a consumer case.

A CourtListener party-name search for "Vinted" run on October 6, 2026 returned this docket as the one naming a Vinted entity among the first results opened; CourtListener's coverage of PACER filings is partial, and state courts and arbitrations are not covered, so this is not a complete list. No U.S. consumer class action naming Vinted Inc. was identified in the sources checked on October 6, 2026. Outside the U.S., the EU matters described in the regulator section are the ones checked from primary notices.

Is Vinted Legitimate?

Vinted's U.S. Terms name Vinted Inc., registered in Delaware, as the operator of vinted.com, and Vinted has published a U.S. refund policy, fee page and ban-appeal procedure that this page quotes. As displayed on October 6, 2026, BBB shows an F rating for "Vinted inc", says it is not BBB Accredited and says it could not confirm a physical U.S. location; the figures are in the complaint-record section above. Trustpilot's domain page shows 1.2 out of 5. Regulators in the EU have acted on Vinted's pricing information (a dialogue closed in June 2024) the Lithuanian data-protection authority fined UAB Vinted in 2024 for GDPR violations, which a Lithuanian court did not overturn in the first-instance decision reported May 23, 2025, and its 2026 decisions register lists nine entries with Vinted, UAB as respondent and the result "violations established" (EU service). No U.S. regulator action was identified in the sources checked. These are records to weigh, not a finding by this site about any transaction; check an order's status in your Vinted account and keep screenshots and photos within the refund deadline.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get a refund on Vinted and how long do I have?

Vinted's Refund Policy says it covers purchases made with the "Buy now" button. After Vinted notifies you the order should have been delivered or seems lost, you have 2 calendar days to press "I have an issue" in the conversation screen; if you do not report in time, or you confirm you accept the order, the payment goes to the seller and Vinted says it cannot support you with a refund. The Help Center's chargeback article describes the deadline as 2 business days from delivery, so report as early as possible. Include photos of the item, the packaging and any damage.

What is the Vinted fee and who pays it?

Vinted's fee page says the Vinted fee is "a mandatory platform fee paid at checkout" and that it typically includes a percentage of the item's or bundle's price plus a fixed fee, "usually 5% + $0.70"; it is shown in the price breakdown and added to the order total. The Terms say buyers pay it. Vinted's About page says sellers pay "0% selling fees". Under the Refund Policy, the Vinted fee is part of a full refund for a lost, damaged or not-received order.

Why can a Vinted account be banned and how do I appeal?

Vinted's ban article says bans follow violations of the Terms and Catalog Rules and lists reasons for temporary bans (such as offensive behavior, repeatedly selling prohibited items, selling counterfeit items, promoting selling outside Vinted's payment system, or selling for commercial purposes) and for permanent bans (such as fraud, multiple accounts, or repeatedly selling counterfeits). The appeal link is in the inbox message or email with the moderation decision; temporary bans end automatically after 7-30 days. The article also says "You can only appeal the decision once, and within 6 months of receiving the moderation decision notice." The Terms say Vinted may withhold the written reasons where law, a payment provider or a fraud investigation prevents it.

Can I withdraw my Vinted Wallet balance if my account is banned?

Vinted's ban article says that if you are permanently banned you can still log in to contact Vinted and to withdraw earnings from your Vinted Wallet, but that withdrawals may not be possible if they pose a risk to other members, involve a compromised account, or the ban is due to fraud risk as determined by the payment service provider. The Terms (section 7) say a blocked account's payouts may be restricted where a Vinted Wallet Provider raises security or fraud concerns.

Can I open a chargeback with my bank for a Vinted purchase?

Vinted's chargeback article says you still have the right to raise a dispute directly with your payment provider, but asks you to contact Vinted first and says that if you open a dispute outside Vinted before contacting it, "your account may be restricted", as per its Terms; Vinted says it reviews each case individually before acting. Vinted also says orders are only protected when completed with the "Buy now" button.

How do I contact Vinted about a problem?

Vinted's Terms say to raise an issue with Vinted by completing its contact form at vinted.com/help/support_tickets/new, and to use "I have an issue" in the order conversation for a refund. The Help Center is at vinted.com/help. Vinted's page for authorities says requests that are not from law-enforcement or other competent authorities will not be reviewed there. This page lists no phone number because none was found on the Vinted pages opened.

Do Vinted's U.S. Terms require arbitration?

The Terms displayed on October 6, 2026 include an arbitration agreement with a class-action and jury-trial waiver, with exceptions for small claims court and for equitable relief for intellectual-property misuse. They say disputes are governed by Delaware law and that you may opt out of arbitration within 30 days after first becoming subject to it, by written notice through the opt-out form the Terms link to. They also set out an informal dispute resolution process by notice first; arbitration may proceed if the dispute is not resolved "within sixty (60) days after receipt of your Notice". The page showed "New version applicable from 08-10-2026", so check the version in force for you.

Is Vinted in the U.S. the same as Vinted in Europe?

The U.S. Terms name Vinted Inc., registered in Delaware, and limit users to residents of the continental United States, Alaska, Hawaii or Puerto Rico. The Lithuanian data-protection matter and the EU consumer-protection dialogue on this page concern Vinted, UAB and the EU service; the U.S. Terms also say Vinted may enable cross-border transactions, with the buyer's country-of-registration terms applying to the buyer-seller contract, and refer to "Vinted Affiliates, which are all companies within our group" without naming them. Vinted's January 22, 2026 press release says it was announcing its U.S. expansion that week.

What do BBB and Trustpilot show for Vinted?

As displayed on October 6, 2026, the BBB profile for Vinted inc (San Francisco, CA) shows an F rating, not accredited, 352 total complaints in the last 3 years, 1.06 out of 5 from 48 customer reviews, and says BBB could not confirm a physical U.S. location. Trustpilot's page for the vinted.com domain shows 1.2 out of 5 from 23,852 reviews. These are third-party figures that Vinted may dispute and that are not combined here.
