Udio is a subscription-based AI music service at udio.com; its Terms of Service name Uncharted Labs, Inc., at 750 Lexington Ave., Floor 9, New York, as the company behind it. Udio reviews and complaints: BBB, Trustpilot and this site
Complaints on usacomplaints.com. No published complaint reports are currently linked to this profile.
BBB. As displayed on 2026-10-20, the BBB profile for Udio, New York, NY, shows 'NOT a BBB Accredited Business', a BBB Rating of A- with the reason listed as length of time operating, 1 complaint in the last 3 years and in the last 12 months (typed Sales and Advertising Issues, status Resolved), and 0 customer reviews. BBB page data show the file opened 2025-12-01, business started 2024-07-30 and incorporated 2023-10-06. The text of the one published complaint, written by the consumer and with parts redacted by BBB, says the user subscribed in March 2025 when the Terms allowed downloading generated audio, and objects to the later removal of downloads; this is the complainant's account. BBB also displays the business response dated December 10, 2025, in which Udio wrote that it was willing to refund 100% of what this creator had paid in subscription fees, including months before the Terms change, and a customer answer dated December 13, 2025 in which the consumer wrote that the resolution is satisfactory. That is one case and does not change the Terms. The complainant states that the Terms changed on November 12, 2025; that is the complainant's own statement. One complaint is too few to say anything about frequency.
Trustpilot. As displayed on 2026-10-20, Trustpilot shows Udio (udio.com) at 1.5 from 59 reviews, with 36 reviews in the last 12 months and a split of 76% one-star and 8% five-star. The profile is unclaimed and Trustpilot notes the company has no history of asking for reviews, so the reviews may not be representative, and that it does not fact-check reviews. Reviews quoted by Trustpilot users mention quality, the restrictive terms and refund requests; one reviewer updated a review in December 2025 to say support later actioned a refund. These are individual consumer statements, not findings.
BBB and Trustpilot figures come from different systems and are not added together or averaged here. CFPB's consumer-complaint database covers financial products and was not applicable to this service.

Submit a ComplaintUdio complaints: how to cancel, ask for a refund and escalate
This page was checked on 2026-10-20 against Udio's own Terms of Service (last revised November 12, 2025), Help Center, Privacy Policy and blog, plus BBB, Trustpilot and federal court dockets. Counts are snapshots and are repeated only in the complaint-record section.
Cancel. The Help Center article 'Changing or canceling your subscription' says to visit udio.com/account and select 'Cancel subscription'; the cancellation is 'effective at the end of your monthly or yearly cycle' and the subscription stays fully usable until then. The Terms of Service (Section 3.3) say a subscription renews automatically and that, to avoid future charges, the user must cancel 7 days before the renewal date, either in the account settings of the website or app or by emailing [email protected]. The two pages describe the timing differently (end of cycle versus 7 days before renewal), so keep a screenshot or email confirming the date you cancelled.
Free trial. The Help Center article 'The subscription trial' says a trial lasts up to 7 days, each creator may start only one, and it is cancelable at udio.com/account.
More detailShow less
It also says that if the trial is not cancelled before the 7 days end, the creator is 'immediately charged the full price of an annual subscription unless they previously toggled the subscription period to monthly', and that switching a trial to a full subscription early starts a Standard subscription at once and charges the full annual fee, or the monthly fee if Monthly was selected when the trial began. The article also says trials do not come with increased credit limits (accounts on a trial keep the free-tier limits), and that if a payment attempt fails the account stays in a trial state for a few days and then reverts to the free tier. Terms Section 3.5 describes trial conversion as applying where the company has notified the user that the account will convert to a paid subscription.
Refunds. Terms Section 3.4 says that, except as expressly set out in the Terms, subscription payments are nonrefundable and there are no credits for partially used periods; after cancellation the user keeps access to the end of the paid period. No Help Center article about refunds was found among the Help Center articles listed on 2026-10-20.
More detailShow less
The Help Center does describe prorated charges for upgrades, and says downgrades take effect at the start of the next cycle. For a billing problem the company directs users to its Help Center messenger or [email protected]; keep the invoice and the date of each message.
Downloads were switched off. In a post dated October 29, 2025, the company's CEO wrote that 'Starting today, downloads from the platform will be unavailable' during a transition period. The Help Center article on the Universal Music Group partnership also says downloading of audio, video and stems was disabled, and Terms Section 1.2 says users may not download copies of Output. Sharing through udio.com links remains available per the company.
Delete the account. The Help Center says to open udio.com/account, choose Account Deletion and then Delete Account; this immediately deletes the account and its songs, cancels any subscription, and cannot be undone. Privacy requests (access, deletion, correction) go to [email protected] per the Privacy Policy (effective date shown: May 19, 2025).
Disputes. Terms Section 9 requires an informal 30-day resolution attempt first, then individual arbitration administered by JAMS, with a class-action waiver. It lists exceptions (small claims, injunctive-relief-only claims, intellectual property disputes) and says a user may opt out by sending notice to [email protected] within 30 days of first registering.

Outside the company, complaints can be filed with BBB or reported to the FTC at ReportFraud.ftc.gov (the FTC page lists reporting a company or bad business practices).
Udio lawsuits: label and artist copyright cases
Federal dockets listing Uncharted Labs, Inc. d/b/a Udio.com as a defendant were read on Justia on 2026-10-20 (Justia notes its dockets are not findings of fact or liability, and each shows its own last-retrieval date). The complaints are allegations; Udio filed an answer in the two label cases whose dockets show one.

Filed June 24, 2024 by UMG, Sony and Warner record labels; Justia lists the cause of action as copyright infringement. Udio answered on August 1, 2024. Justia's copy was last retrieved June 25, 2026 and shows entries only through August 22, 2024; no dismissal or termination entry was verified there. The company's Warner post of November 19, 2025 says its arrangement with Warner resolves the companies' copyright litigation.
- Sony Music Entertainment et al v. Uncharted Labs, Inc. (S.D.N.Y. 1:26-cv-06120, Judge Hellerstein). Filed July 20, 2026 by Sony Music Entertainment and affiliated labels; the first entry attaches an exhibit of sound recordings at issue. Udio answered on August 27, 2026 (docket retrieved August 31, 2026). The complaint itself was not read.
- Justice et al v. Uncharted Labs, Inc. (S.D.N.Y. 1:25-cv-05026, Judge Hellerstein). Filed June 16, 2025 by Anthony Justice, 5th Wheel Records, Inc. and My Heartland Publishing, LLC. After a first amended complaint, Udio moved on December 1, 2025 to dismiss Counts Two, Three and Four; the docket as retrieved August 17, 2026 shows no later entries, so any ruling is unverified.
- Woulard et al v. Uncharted Labs, Inc. (originally N.D. Ill. 1:25-cv-12613; now S.D.N.Y. 1:26-cv-07968, Judge Preska). Filed October 15, 2025 by David Woulard, Attack the Sound LLC and eight other individual plaintiffs; Justia lists the cause of action as copyright infringement. The S.D.N.Y. docket on Justia (last retrieved September 12, 2026) carries the Illinois entries: a minute entry stating that on August 3, 2026 the court granted in part and denied in part Udio's motion to dismiss the first amended complaint or, in the alternative, to transfer venue, granting the transfer and denying the motion to dismiss without prejudice to refiling in the Southern District of New York, and an Opinion and Order signed by Judge Sara L. Ellis on August 3, 2026. The case was transferred to the Southern District of New York (received September 12, 2026). This is a procedural ruling, not a ruling on the merits; the full opinion was not read.
A related miscellaneous proceeding in the Northern District of California (4:25-mc-80194, filed July 15, 2025) is a motion to compel a non-party's compliance with a subpoena issued in the label litigation and is not a separate claim against Udio.
