Trawick travel insurance: how to file a claim, reach the company or complain (checked October 14, 2026)
Trawick International, Inc. sells travel insurance, travel medical and student plans under the Trawick International name; its BBB file and contact-page P.O. box are in Fairhope, Alabama, its original headquarters, and a company press release dated April 15, 2025 announces a new global headquarters in Miami, Florida. On its own pages it separates the sales side (Trawick International) from the claims side: its affiliate SureGo Administrative Services is described on the Trawick Holdings history page as an "in-house claims administration company". The insurance itself is underwritten by an insurance company, not by Trawick; the Trawick quote page opened for the plan "Safe Travels Rental Plus" says "Underwritten by United States Fire Insurance Company" and lists form series T7000, T210 and TP-401. Other plans may name other carriers. The Claim Forms page says its lookup by certificate/plan number ("will start with a 1, 2 or 3") returns a "personalized claim contact, claim forms and online claim filing link", so use that lookup and your certificate to identify the carrier and the claim destination for your plan before filing a regulator complaint.
Filing a claim (from Trawick's How to File a Claim page).
- Gather documents for the claim type; the page lists, for example, medical documentation and bills for a medical claim, and the original itinerary, proof of payment and proof of the cancelling event for trip cancellation or interruption.
- Find your plan name, your ID number (it "starts with a 9") and your order number ("starts with a 1 or a 2") on the confirmation of coverage emailed at purchase. The page says these numbers "are required to file a claim".
- File online or send the PDF claim form by mail, fax or email; the destination varies by plan, so obtain the plan-specific address or link from the Claim Forms lookup.
- The page says processing "will be delayed if you use the wrong claim form, mail the claim to the wrong address, or send in incomplete documentation", and that flight cancellations or delays "must be documented by the airline".
Contacts published by the company. 24/7 Customer Service (888) 301-9289 and [email protected] (the contact page says "Closed most major US holidays"); claims submissions to [email protected] and status requests to [email protected] (SureGo contact page); SureGo customer service (866) 696-0409 or text (251) 322-7443 (Claim Forms page). The claim page says the website's live chat "cannot be used to obtain claim status or filing assistance" but can provide the claims phone number and email. Claim status is on MyTrawick (mytrawick.com).
If a claim is denied or not answered. Ask the claims team in writing for the specific policy provision relied on and keep the claim number, dates and all documents. Check your certificate and the denial letter for any appeal procedure or deadline; no certificate was reviewed for this page and no plan-specific appeal address or time limit was verified. Outside the company, identify the regulator with jurisdiction over the insurer named in your certificate and over your policy; the claim-form lookup and your certificate show the carrier. For matters within its jurisdiction, the Alabama Department of Insurance says to first contact the company or producer, then use its Online Consumer Complaint Form, and lists what it asks you to include (full name of the insurer, agent or broker, policy number, claim number if applicable, detailed description); it also says it cannot "determine the value of a claim", cannot assist with a complaint if you have an attorney, and cannot help with entities "not subject to the insurance laws of the State of Alabama". The BBB complaint form is another route (see the complaint record below).
Who is Trawick International?
Entity. BBB and the company's Terms and Conditions of Use name the business Trawick International, Inc., a corporation with a BBB file in Fairhope, Alabama; BBB lists Daryl Trawick as President. A company press release dated April 15, 2025 describes Fairhope as the company's "original headquarters" and announces the opening of a new global headquarters in Miami, Florida (no street address is given there). The company says it was founded in 1998 and, per the Trawick Holdings history page, began with student insurance and added travel insurance in 2008. BBB's page data shows a business start of 1998-09-23 and incorporation on 1998-09-24.
Related companies (as the company describes them). The Trawick Holdings website lists Trawick International, SureGo Administrative Services, Tuman Global Solutions and Greenlight Insurance among its brands, and its history page describes SureGo as established in 2015 as an in-house claims administrator. The same page says SureGo was approved as a third-party administrator for Crum & Forster (2023) and for Nationwide and Starr insurance companies (2024), "completing the capability to manage claims for all Trawick International travel insurance plans in-house".
Products. The website lists trip cancellation, cancel-for-any-reason, cruise, annual, inbound-to-the-USA, outbound travel medical, vacation rental and student plans. The Terms of Use state that arbitration administered by JAMS applies to disputes about the website and purchases through it unless you opt out as described there, and that the website terms are governed by Alabama law; the insurance certificate has its own terms. The site's press room lists a Squaremouth partnership expansion dated September 22, 2026.
Complaint record: BBB, Trustpilot and the company's own reviews (as displayed October 14, 2026)
BBB. The BBB profile for Trawick International, Inc., 300 Fairhope Ave Ste G, Fairhope, AL says the business is NOT BBB Accredited; the page data shows a BBB rating of A-. The complaints tab shows 98 total complaints in the last 3 years and 17 complaints filed in the last 12 months. BBB says the text displayed may not represent all complaints. The reviews tab shows an average of 54 customer reviews at 1.11 out of 5. BBB has a separate Coral Gables, FL listing ("Trawick International Inc.", insurance agency) that was not opened and is not combined here.
Trustpilot. The Trustpilot page for www.trawickinternational.com shows 4.4 from 1,773 reviews, a claimed profile since September 2017 with a paid Trustpilot subscription, and the statement that the company invites customers to review. The star split shown is 5-star 72%, 4-star 7%, 3-star 3%, 2-star 1% and 1-star 17%.
Company's own reviews page. Trawick's website shows 4.9 from 1,085 reviews (1,010 five-star, 53 four-star, 17 three-star, 2 two-star, 3 one-star) with "82% Recommended". It is the company's own display and the page does not say how reviews are verified.
Press. A Boston Globe "Travel Troubleshooter" column dated January 1, 2026 carries a reader's letter alleging that a $270 trip-disruption claim under a Trawick policy was denied by SureGo on the statement that the delay was "only 3 hours" (the reader's account); the columnist then reports: "I contacted Starr Companies, Trawick’s underwriter. A few weeks after our inquiry, Trawick approved a claim for $300 per person (which is more than you claimed), calling it trip delay coverage." The traveler's statements are the traveler's allegations; the reported outcome is the columnist's account and the company's own statement was not published in the column text read.
The three rating sources use different methods and are not combined. This site's archive has no complaints linked to this company as of October 14, 2026 (four archive posts returned by a search for "Trawick" list other businesses as the offender and are not linked). Complaints are one party's account unless a regulator or court finds otherwise.
Lawsuits and regulatory actions (sources checked October 14, 2026)
No court case or regulator order naming Trawick International as a defendant or respondent in a consumer matter was identified in the sources checked on October 14, 2026: a CourtListener case-name search for "Trawick International" returned one federal docket, and web searches for enforcement or consent-order pages did not return one. A broader CourtListener full-text search was blocked by a verification page and was not completed, and state insurance department enforcement databases were not searched individually, so this is not a statement that none exists.
The one docket found is Mutual of Omaha Insurance Company v. Trawick International, Inc., No. 1:03-cv-00340 (S.D. Ala.), filed May 29, 2003, nature of suit "110 Insurance", terminated January 7, 2004. The CourtListener docket page opened on October 14, 2026 shows these header details and states that there are no entries for the docket in the RECAP Archive, so the claims and the disposition were not read; it is listed only because it names the company.
Is Trawick Travel Insurance Legitimate?
The record opened on October 14, 2026 shows: Trawick International, Inc. is a corporation with a BBB file listing Fairhope, Alabama (the company's original headquarters per its April 2025 press release, which announces a new global headquarters in Miami), a published customer-service line, a P.O. box and a BBB-listed street address, and BBB page data giving a 1998 business start. BBB shows it as not accredited, with a rating of A- in the page data, 98 complaints in three years and a 1.11 average of 54 reviews; Trustpilot shows 4.4 from 1,773 reviews. Its plans name the underwriting insurer (United States Fire Insurance Company on the plan page opened), and the company says its claims are administered by its affiliate SureGo. A reader deciding on a policy should read the certificate for exclusions, the insurer's name and claim deadlines, since coverage is defined by that document rather than by the website.
