Torres Credit Services: what to do after a collection entry or contact (checked October 12, 2026)

Torres Credit Services, Inc. is a company in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. Its own website describes it as a provider of customer support, staffing and call center services; BBB lists it in the Collections Agencies category, and in its public responses on BBB the company says it was attempting to collect alleged debts forwarded to it by creditors. This page lists what the CFPB and the FTC say about your rights and what the public record shows as of October 12, 2026. Nothing here says that any particular call, letter or credit report entry is valid or invalid.

If you are contacted about a debt.

  • The CFPB says a debt collector must give you, in the first contact or within five days of it, validation information that “includes the name of the creditor, the amount you owe, and how to dispute the debt,” and that “in certain situations, you only have 30 days” after contact to ask for certain information. It publishes sample letters, including “I do not owe this debt” and “I need more information about this debt,” and advises keeping copies of everything you send.
  • The CFPB also warns that a caller who does not or cannot provide this information may not be genuine, and advises never giving sensitive financial information to the caller until you have confirmed they are legitimate.
  • A collector is a different business from the original creditor. The creditor named in the validation information is the business that can tell you how the account began.

If the account appears on your credit report. The FTC says that, however you file a dispute, “the credit bureau has 30 days to investigate it,” that the bureau forwards your evidence to the business that reported the information, and that if the business finds the information inaccurate it “must notify all three nationwide credit bureaus.” The FTC page also has a section, “Dispute it with the business that supplied the information,” with a sample letter, and says that if the business finds the information inaccurate or incomplete it “must tell the credit bureau to update or delete that information from your report.” BBB lists the company’s address as 27 Fairview St Ste 301, Carlisle, PA 17015-3200; the FTC advises that if you cannot find a dispute address you contact the business and ask for the correct one. Several archive posts below were written by people who first learned of an account from a credit report or a credit-monitoring alert, not from a letter.

Contact details. The company’s website, torrescredit.com, lists “27 Fairview Street, Carlisle, PA 17015,” the phone “866-756-6802 x222” and the email [email protected]. Its “Hire/Apply” contact form offers the choices “Looking for support (employers),” “Looking to Apply (employees)” and “Contact Us.” In the pages opened on October 12, 2026 (home, About, Our Culture, What We Do, Industries, Services, Analysis, Customized Contracts and Hire/Apply) the site did not describe debt collection or give a procedure for disputing an account, and /privacy-policy/ and /terms-of-use/ returned “Page not found.” BBB lists a different phone number, (717) 243-6637. In its BBB responses the company refers consumers to the creditor for further questions (see the Complaint record section). Use the dispute address or number in the validation notice you received.

Where to complain. The CFPB takes complaints about debt collection and credit reporting at consumerfinance.gov/complaint. BBB’s profile lists the Pennsylvania Attorney General (Strawberry Square, 14th Floor, Harrisburg) as another resource; if you live in another state, use your own state attorney general’s consumer office.

About Torres Credit Services, Inc.

Entity. BBB lists the business as “Torres Credit Services, Inc,” a corporation at 27 Fairview St Ste 301, Carlisle, PA 17015-3200, in the Collections Agencies category, with the alternate name “TCS, Inc.” BBB’s page data gives a business start and incorporation date of April 29, 2003 and a BBB file opening of October 31, 2005. The profile text reads “This business has applied for BBB accreditation”; it does not show the business as BBB Accredited.

What it says it does. The company’s About page says: “Torres Credit Services, Inc. provides its clients with unparalleled customer support, staffing and call center management and representatives, nationwide.” It also says the company is a “Nationally Certified Minority Enterprise (NMSDC), that has been in operation since 2003,” and lists “Account Receivables Staffing” and “Nationwide Letter Services” among its areas of expertise. The Services page lists staffing, call overflow, order processing, surveys, call center and recruitment work. These are the company’s own statements, which this site has not verified.

Licence statement. The website footer says: “Nevada License Information – Compliance #CM11771, NMLS Compliance Manager #991810, NMLS Company ID #991793.” This is the company’s own statement. The NMLS Consumer Access lookup that would confirm it required a human-verification step on October 12, 2026 and was not completed, so the numbers are not verified here.

Not verified. This page does not state which creditors or clients the company collects for, its owners, or its licence status in any state; those were not confirmed from a primary source on October 12, 2026. On its own website the pages that were opened describe staffing and call center services and do not mention debt collection. In its public responses on BBB (for example one dated March 31, 2026) the company writes that it “was attempting to collect an alleged debt” forwarded to it from a creditor; BBB redacts the creditor names in the text it displays. The CFPB database and the archive posts below also describe collection accounts.

It shows an average of 1 out of 5 stars from 3 customer reviews. One displayed complaint, dated March 15, 2026 with status “Answered,” says the company placed a collection account on the writer’s credit report for an alleged debt originally owed to another business. The company’s BBB response dated March 31, 2026 says the creditor “recalled this account from our office and TCS requested to have the tradeline removed from your credit report at the same time,” and that further questions “need to be directed to” the creditor. The company’s other displayed BBB responses begin by saying it “was attempting to collect an alleged debt” forwarded to it by a creditor; the company’s response dated March 3, 2026 says a payment made on February 17, 2026 settled the account in full. In two of them the writer says the same account was reported repeatedly (one lists weekly entries between April and May 2012); in three the writer says they did not recognize the debt or had not been contacted by the company before seeing it on a credit report. One writer says a $55 account was reported as owed to BMG Music Service and was paid on July 22, 2011 after the writer was told they were responsible for a spouse’s debt. These are the writers’ accounts, unverified by this site, and the company’s side is not stated in the posts. The counts above come from separate sources and are not added together.

Is Torres Credit Services Legitimate?

The public record found on October 12, 2026 shows a Pennsylvania business with a BBB file opened on October 31, 2005 and a start date of April 29, 2003, a CFPB database entry of 302 complaints, a BBB rating of B with 109 complaints in the last 3 years, and a company website that describes call center and staffing services and carries its own licence statement. The CFPB’s enforcement-actions search for “Torres Credit” returned no results that day, and a search of the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s website for the company name returned no page about it. These are scoped searches, not a statement that no action exists.

Court dockets. A CourtListener search for the case name “Torres Credit” run on October 12, 2026 returned 28 federal dockets (“28 Cases and 393 Docket Entries”). This page lists nine of them under court cases in which Torres Credit Services, Inc. is the defendant, most citing the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. The docket entries available on CourtListener show filings, settlement notices and dismissals; none of them shows a judgment or finding against the company. One further docket in the search result, a 2024 bankruptcy-court case captioned only “TORRES CREDIT,” was not opened and is not attributed to the company.

Searches not completed. The FTC cases-and-proceedings search page did not apply the name filter and the NMLS Consumer Access lookup required a human-verification step, so this page lists no FTC actions or licence records for the company and takes no position on them.

Whether a specific account is valid is a separate question that only the creditor’s records can answer. Ask in writing for the creditor’s name, the amount and how to dispute the debt, keep copies, and use the dispute routes above. This site does not rate companies and expresses no view on any individual account.
