TopResume complaints: refunds, the 60-day guarantee and cancellation (checked October 11, 2026)
TopResume (topresume.com) sells professionally written resumes, cover letters and LinkedIn profiles, a subscription set of career tools it calls the Career Services Platform, and a higher-priced job-placement coaching service. The company's own pages, opened on October 11, 2026, set out the following terms.
Prices as displayed.
- Resume-writing page: Professional Growth $179, Career Evolution $229, Career Confidence $349 and Executive Priority $599, each marked “Monthly financing available” and “60-day interview guarantee”. The page has a section titled “What is Affirm?”.
- Plans page: DIY Career Tools at $24.95/month (“Billed monthly, cancel anytime”), Resume Writing starting at $179, and Get Hired Now starting at $2,495.
- Job-placement page: Professional $2,495 and Executive $3,995.
The monthly platform charge. On the resume-writing page, the note under “Career Services Platform” reads: “Once your new resume is delivered, enjoy your first 4 weeks free — then just $24.95/month. Cancel anytime.” The package lists show the platform as part of each resume package. The Terms (Last Updated: Nov 25, 2025) say: “If your purchase is subject to recurring charges, then you consent to our charging your payment method on a recurring basis without requiring your prior approval for each recurring charge, until you notify us of your cancellation.” They also say that a subscription can be cancelled “by logging into your account or contacting us”, with the cancellation taking effect “at the end of the current paid term”.
Refunds. Three company statements put the policy in different words, and all are quoted here:
- FAQ page: “All sales are final, but there will be multiple drafts and revisions to ensure your satisfaction.”
- Terms, section “Cancellation, Refunds, And Guarantees”: “No refunds will be provided for our subscription services.” and “In general, and except as specifically noted on a specific site, all purchases of our professional resume-writing services are final and no refunds will be provided. Some of our services may include a specific guarantee.” The same section says: “If you are dissatisfied with any of our services, please contact the support team for the specific brand or email [email protected], and we will provide appropriate assistance.”
- BBB profile, “Refund and Exchange Policy” as shown on BBB: “In case a customer is dissatisfied, we offer another professional to take on the project. If there is a further escalation and we determine an error on our side, we issue partial or full refunds.”
The 60-day interview guarantee. The Contact page says: “If you are not receiving two times more job interviews within 60 days of receiving your professionally-written resume, we will write it again one time, free-of-charge. You must notify us in writing within 180 days of receiving your final copy. Only certain packages are eligible for our guarantee.” The FAQ page words it as: “If you are not receiving two times more job interviews within 60 days of receiving your resume, we will write it again one time, free-of-charge.” and adds the same 180-day written-notice and certain-packages conditions. The remedy described is a free rewrite, not a refund.
Job-placement coaching. The supplemental terms for this service say fees “must be paid in full” before work begins and, under “No Refunds”, list two cases: a full refund if cancellation is requested before the initial coach meeting, and a refund “less a $75.00 fee” if requested within 24 hours after the initial coach meeting. They also say no refunds are given for failure to secure employment or an interview. Two company statements on a guarantee appear side by side:
- Job-placement page: “One fee — we’re with you until you get hired, guaranteed.” Plans page: “Backed by Get Hired guarantee”.
- Terms, Job Placement supplement: “NO VERBAL OR WRITTEN PROMISE OR GUARANTEE OF ANY JOB, COMPENSATION OR EMPLOYMENT IS MADE OR IMPLIED IN CONNECTION WITH THESE SERVICES OR OTHERWISE”; the services “end on the date of you secure your immediate next role”.
Payment plans. The packages are marked “Monthly financing available”. The Terms say: “Failure to make future payments as agreed may result in reporting of your information to credit bureaus or similar credit reporting entities and appearing on your credit report.”
Disputes clause. The Terms require that disputes first be negotiated informally for at least thirty (30) days after written notice, then resolved by binding individual arbitration under the American Arbitration Association's Consumer Arbitration Rules (the arbitration is to be held in Dover, Delaware unless the applicable rules require otherwise; for claims of $10,000 or less either side may elect a telephone or written-submission arbitration), with a class-action waiver and a one-year limit. Delaware law applies “Unless the laws of your jurisdiction require that those laws apply”, per the Terms, with venue in Kent County, Delaware. On the one-year limit the Terms say: “In no event shall any Dispute be commenced more than one (1) year after the facts giving rise to the claim occurred.” Small claims court cases are listed as an exception.
Where to send a problem.
- Company: [email protected] or 1-800-604-1929 (weekdays 9am to 6pm EST per the Contact page), or the support sign-in at topresume.portal.careers; the Terms also name [email protected]. Keep order confirmations, the date the resume was delivered, and any written notice you send. The Privacy Policy (Last Updated: July 15, 2025) gives two postal addresses for privacy requests: 420 Lexington Avenue as the registered address, and “Mail us at 410 Lexington Avenue, Suite 1402 - 1063 NY, NY 10170, Attn. Privacy”, plus [email protected]; check which one applies before sending written notice.
- Outside the company: the Federal Trade Commission's ReportFraud site (reportfraud.ftc.gov) takes reports about a company; the company's address is in New York, where the Attorney General's office takes consumer complaints (ag.ny.gov/consumer-frauds/file-complaint); and BBB accepts complaints on the profile for Talent Worldwide, Inc. If a charge was made by card or Affirm, the card issuer or lender has its own dispute process.
Who runs TopResume: Talent Worldwide, Inc. and the Career.io group
Legal name used in the Terms. The TopResume Terms describe a legally binding agreement between the user and “Talent Worldwide, Inc. and its subsidiaries and affiliates”, covering the career.io and resume.io platforms “as well as any other website, media channel, mobile site or mobile application operated by us and on which these Terms are made available”. The Privacy Policy (Last Updated: July 15, 2025) names Talent Worldwide Inc. as a company “registered in the USA” with its “seat and registered address” at 420 Lexington Avenue, Suite 1402 – 1063, New York, NY 10170. BBB lists the same company, Talent Worldwide, Inc., at 420 Lexington Ave, New York, NY 10170-0002 as a Corporation, with alternate names TopResume, TopInterview, TopCV and ResumeRabbit and the websites topresume.com, topinterview.com, topcv.com, resumerabbit.com and resume.io. BBB's raw page data shows bbbFileOpened 2015-01-16, businessStart 2015-01-01 and incorporated 2015-08-24; BBB names Jonas Svensson as Executive Chairman and Byron Matthews as CEO.
Parent brand. The company's December 11, 2024 press release says Career.io “serves as TopResume's parent company”. A Career.io press release dated August 12, 2024 describes Career.io as “Previously known as Talent Inc., which was established in 2014” and lists eight brands: TopResume, TopCV, TopInterview, ZipJob, Resume.io, Careerminds, PremierVirtual and CourseReport. The sources checked do not state in so many words that Talent Worldwide, Inc. and the former Talent Inc. are the same legal entity, so this page treats the Terms' contracting party as the legal name and Career.io as the group brand. Two company statements tie them closer without stating identity: the Privacy Policy defines “Talent Worldwide Inc. company” as “Talent” and it with its subsidiaries and affiliates collectively as “Career.io”, and the author line of TopResume's December 11, 2024 article reads “TopResume, a Talent Inc. company”.
Founding dates. The company gives several dates: Career.io's August 12, 2024 release says Talent Inc. “was established in 2014”; the Career.io About page says “Starting in 2013 with the launch of resume.io”; the job-placement page says “24+ years supporting successful job seekers”. BBB's raw data for Talent Worldwide, Inc. shows businessStart 2015-01-01 and incorporated 2015-08-24. This page does not state a single founding year.
Recent company events. On February 12, 2025 the company announced that TopResume had acquired Storeyline Resumes and launched “TopResume Executive”. On December 11, 2024 it announced a partnership under which TopResume services are offered on Monster sites. On June 30, 2025 it announced a program it titled “Concierge Career Program for College Grads” (the release names the service “GetHiredNow for Graduates”), offering coaching “until the career-driven professional lands a job”. The newest release in the TopResume press room on October 11, 2026 is dated December 15, 2025 (a 2026 job-seeker trends report). No later acquisition or settlement involving TopResume was identified in the sources checked on October 11, 2026.
How the service works, per the company. The FAQ says a first draft arrives in about a week and the client then has about a week to give feedback, with up to two rounds of revisions. It also says the company has “a network of over 1,200 writers”, while the resume-writing page shows “170 writers from 65 industries”. Both figures are the company's own claims and are not reconciled by this page.
Complaint record: BBB, Trustpilot and ComplaintsBoard as displayed, plus this site's archive
BBB (as displayed on 2026-10-11). The BBB profile for Talent Worldwide, Inc., New York, NY (alternate name TopResume) shows that the business is not BBB Accredited and has a rating of F. BBB lists the reasons as “Failure to respond to 27 complaint(s) filed against business” and “12 complaint(s) filed against business that were not resolved”. The complaints tab shows “105 total complaints in the last 3 years” and “22 complaints filed in the last 12 months”; the reviews tab shows an average of 26 customer reviews at 1.15 out of 5. BBB notes that displayed complaint text might not represent all complaints.
BBB also shows 1 alert, displayed as “Pattern of Complaints” (the page data title is “Pattern of Complaint”), whose text begins: “BBB files indicate a pattern of complaints concerning product quality and customer service for Top Resume.” The alert text says that, as of July 2022, consumers continued to complain about resume re-writes with “misspellings, poor grammar, and inaccurate work history representations” and about difficulty getting timely responses and refunds. This is BBB's own wording from its file; it is not a finding by a court or regulator.
A recent BBB complaint (allegation, as displayed on 2026-10-11). A complaint dated 08/28/2026 and shown with status “Unanswered” says the consumer ordered a resume draft on June 22, 2026 and later saw “2 charges for $24.95 for July and for August”, says the company told the consumer of a 30-day trial, and asks for both charges to be refunded. This is one consumer's account as published by BBB, not a finding.
Trustpilot (as displayed on 2026-10-11). 4.2 out of 5 from 14,412 reviews on a claimed profile. Trustpilot says the company invites customers to review “whether positive or negative” and shows that it replied to 95 percent of negative reviews. Trustpilot states that it does not fact-check reviews.
ComplaintsBoard (as rendered on 2026-10-11). A 2.7 rating from 0 reviews and 51 complaints, on a page marked “Updated on May 18, 2026”. These are user submissions and are not verified.
The figures from BBB, Trustpilot and ComplaintsBoard come from different review populations and different methods; they are shown separately and are not added or averaged.
This site's archive. A search of the approved posts on usacomplaints.com on October 11, 2026 found no post that names TopResume or Talent Worldwide, Inc. in its offender field, title or text. The archive has older posts filed under the name “Resume Rabbit”, which BBB lists as an alternate name of this company and which Career.io says is a brand it added; the sources checked here do not establish who operated that service when each post was written, so those posts are not linked to this page.
Court and regulator search results (sources checked October 11, 2026)
Court records. On October 11, 2026, searches of the CourtListener RECAP archive by case name for “Talent Worldwide”, TopResume, “Top Resume”, “Top Interview” and TopInterview, and a full-text search for “Talent Worldwide, Inc”, returned 0 results. RECAP does not hold every federal filing and does not cover state courts, so this is a statement about that archive only, not about all courts.
Regulators. A web search run on October 11, 2026 for TopResume or Talent Worldwide together with FTC, attorney general, lawsuit or settlement did not surface an action naming either. It was not a search of each regulator's own database. A consumer who believes a regulator should look at a business can report it to the FTC or to a state attorney general; those reports are not public findings.
Contract terms that bear on disputes. See the first section for the arbitration clause, class-action waiver and one-year limit stated in the Terms.
