Sunnova Energy
Sunnova Energy International Inc., a Houston residential solar company that sold leases, power purchase agreements and loans through about 500 dealers, filed Chapter 11 in June 2025, and substantially all of its assets were sold in a court-approved sale. Sunnova's own website says it has ceased independent operations and that SunStrong Management now services in-service customer systems, with payment arrangements unchanged. This page lists who bills Sunnova accounts, how to reach them, what the court record, BBB, CFPB and Trustpilot show as of October 6, 2026, and where to complain.

Sunnova customers: who services your system now, how to pay, who to contact and where to complain (checked October 6, 2026)
Sunnova's own website, opened on October 6, 2026, shows a closure and support notice. It says that through a court-supervised Chapter 11 sale process 'new owners have acquired substantially all of Sunnova's assets and operations', that SunStrong Management 'has assumed responsibility for the servicing of the accounts for in-service customer systems acquired by the new owner group', and that 'Sunnova has ceased independent operations'. SunStrong Management is a separate company from Sunnova; the steps below follow the pages of Sunnova, SunStrong and the bankruptcy court.
Who bills you. SunStrong's 'Your account' page says that where you pay depends on the company that originally managed the system. For originator 'Sunnova' it links one portal for 'LEASE & PPA' accounts (esp.myaccountinfo.com/Sunstrong) and a different one for 'LOAN' accounts (sunstrong.youronlineaccount.com), and a Sunnova monitoring app in the Apple and Google stores. Not every former Sunnova account is necessarily managed by SunStrong. SunStrong's help center says to look for communications from SunStrong or, failing that, a bill issued after your transfer date showing the new company's brand, and adds: 'If you are still unsure, you can reach out to our Customer Care team to verify if you are in the right place.' Sunnova's page and SunStrong's help center both say to keep paying as usual until SunStrong gives updated instructions directly.
Contract terms and sales tax. SunStrong's help center says there are 'no changes to your existing financing agreement terms, aside from any previously expected escalators noted in your contract and/or changes to sales tax'. It also says that in some instances former owners or servicers 'did not charge the required sales tax' and that SunStrong is collecting government-mandated sales tax going forward. If a bill changed, compare it with your agreement's escalator terms and ask SunStrong in writing for the breakdown.
Selling a home with a Sunnova system. SunStrong's Homeowners page has a 'Sell My Home' quick action that asks owners to tell SunStrong as soon as possible if they are selling a home with solar; it links to a web form.
Installation not finished. Sunnova's page says SunStrong is working with GoodLeap 'to facilitate completion of certain in-progress installations', that a dealer or a GoodLeap representative will contact customers whose project qualifies, and lists GoodLeap at (888) 975-5436 and [email protected]. The page says 'certain' installations, and no list of qualifying projects was found. The same (888) 975-5436 number is shown on the Kroll case page as the bankruptcy claims agent's toll-free line, so state who you are calling and why.
Claims in the bankruptcy. The Kroll case page sets the general proof-of-claim deadline at August 6, 2025 (5:00 p.m. Central) and the governmental deadline at December 5, 2025; both have passed. After the plan took effect on November 14, 2025, claim objections and distributions are handled by the Sunnova Creditor Trust; an order signed on June 30, 2026 extended the Creditor Trustee's time to object to claims through November 9, 2026, and the docket calendar lists a July 2026 hearing on a creditors' motion to file a late proof of claim, so a late claim is a question for the court and the trustee, not a right this page can confirm. Kroll's info line is (888) 975-5436.
Uncovered repairs. SunStrong's site navigation lists a 'Third-Party Services' page described as 'For uncovered repairs or non-SunStrong customers who need solar support.' That wording is SunStrong's description of the page; it does not decide whether a particular repair is covered under an individual agreement, so check the agreement and ask SunStrong in writing.
Where to complain. Sunnova financing complaints in the CFPB database are mostly filed under loan, credit reporting and debt collection categories; the CFPB complaint page (consumerfinance.gov/complaint) takes complaints about those financial products, and its public phone line is shown as (855) 411-2372. The FTC's ReportFraud site says it shares reports with law enforcers and cannot resolve an individual report. A state attorney general or consumer protection office (for example, Connecticut's Attorney General and Department of Consumer Protection have received complaints about SunStrong-managed accounts and the Attorney General announced an investigation on March 17, 2026; consumer inquiries 860-808-5318), the state utility regulator for metering or interconnection problems, and, for Puerto Rico, the Department of Consumer Affairs (DACO), whose resolution the confirmation order mentions, are other routes. A complaint about the installer or salesperson who sold the system goes to that dealer and to the state contractor licensing board as well.
Sunnova government actions: what the court record and agency pages show
Puerto Rico consumer contracts. Paragraph 131 of the order confirming Sunnova's plan, signed November 10, 2025, says that 'any pre-petition obligations, regulatory determinations, or administrative enforcement actions relating to Puerto Rico consumer contracts', including the Puerto Rico Department of Consumer Affairs (DACO) Resolution in Case No. ARE-2024-0006620, 'shall not be extinguished, impaired, or released', and that any successor-in-interest to the debtors other than the Purchaser remains subject to obligations arising from those determinations. The DACO resolution itself was not opened for this page, so its subject and outcome are not described here.
Connecticut Attorney General: SunStrong investigation (March 17, 2026). A Connecticut Attorney General press release dated March 17, 2026 says the Attorney General 'announced an investigation into SunStrong Management LLC following dozens of consumer complaints'. It describes SunStrong as a company that 'manages loans, leases and power purchase agreements from solar companies that entered bankruptcy, such as Sunnova and SunPower', and says the Attorney General's office and the Department of Consumer Protection 'jointly received approximately 65 consumer complaints' since SunStrong began managing these contracts in 2024 and 2025. According to the release, consumers have complained that the company is 'failing to uphold warranties', not responding to complaints, and charging a $10 monthly fee for system production data; a civil investigative demand sent on February 27 sought records on 'the transfer of systems from the bankrupt Sunnova and SunPower to SunStrong', terms and conditions, quality control, and complaints. These are complaints and an investigation, not findings; the release does not name Sunnova as a subject, and SunStrong's response is not stated in it. Connecticut consumer inquiries are listed at 860-808-5318.
Other agencies. Sunnova's 2024 Form 10-K (Item 3) says it was not party to any litigation or government proceeding it believed would have a material adverse effect, and that in the ordinary course it has disputes with dealers and customers. No other federal or state enforcement order naming Sunnova itself was identified in the documents opened on October 6 and 7, 2026; the FTC, CFPB and several state search pages this site tried did not return readable results, so that is a statement about what was reviewed, not a finding that no action exists. The Connecticut investigation described above concerns the servicer SunStrong. Consumer complaint counts published by the CFPB and BBB are under the complaint record.
Sunnova background: who the company was, how the 2025 sale worked and who SunStrong is
The company. Sunnova Energy International Inc. is a Delaware corporation headquartered in Houston. Its 2024 Form 10-K says Sunnova Energy Corporation was incorporated on October 22, 2012, the parent company was formed in 2019, and its IPO closed July 29, 2019. The company said it served over 441,000 customers in more than 50 U.S. states and territories and used a network of about 500 dealers who originated and installed systems. Products included Sunnova SunSafe solar plus battery storage, leases, power purchase agreements and loans (the 'Easy Own Plan'). The 10-K reported a net loss of $447.8 million for 2024 and disclosed substantial doubt about its ability to continue as a going concern.
Chapter 11. Sunnova TEP Developer, LLC filed a Chapter 11 petition on June 1, 2025, and Sunnova Energy International Inc., Sunnova Energy Corporation and Sunnova Intermediate Holdings, LLC filed on June 8, 2025, in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas (Judge Alfredo R. Perez, jointly administered under Case No. 25-90160). The Form 8-K filed on June 9, 2025 said the debtors would continue to operate while 'undertaking a sale process'.
The sale. The court's Sale Order, signed July 31, 2025 (ECF 599), authorized the sale of substantially all of the debtors' assets to the 'WholeCo Stalking Horse Bidder', under an agreement with Solaris Assets, LLC, Solaris ABS, LLC and Solaris Borrower, LLC (and their designees), and the assumption and assignment of certain contracts. Sunnova's page says SunStrong Management took over servicing; the court's confirmation order lists Solaris Capital Holdings, LLC, Solaris TEP H Purchaser, LLC and SunStrong Management LLC as parties 'integral to the negotiation and consummation of the Sale Transaction'. The Business Wire announcement linked from Sunnova's page could not be opened for this page, so the closing date is not stated here.
The plan. A third amended plan was confirmed by an order signed November 10, 2025 (Kroll shows the effective date as November 14, 2025). It is a wind-down plan: remaining assets and claims move to a Creditor Trust, whose trustee, Thomas A. Pitta, is the filer on the current docket. The company's pages state that the sale buyers, not Sunnova, now manage customer accounts.
SunStrong Management. SunStrong says it is an operations and asset management company, founded in 2024, 'unattached to an origination platform', that bills, services and supports the systems of customers whose originators include Sunnova, SunPower, PosiGen and GoodLeap, and says it has 500,000 or more residential customers. Its site footer shows NMLS ID 2677746. It is not the company that sold or installed your system: Sunnova's dealers and contractors originated and installed systems, so a problem with an installation may involve the dealer's contract as well as the financing.
Sunnova complaint record: this site's posts, BBB, CFPB and Trustpilot
This site. On October 6, 2026 this site's archive had no approved complaint posts naming Sunnova, Sunnova SunSafe or SunStrong as the subject, so there are no complaint themes to show here and no counts to compare with the outside sources below.
BBB (complaint counts as displayed on October 7, 2026; review average as displayed on October 6, 2026). The BBB profile for Sunnova Energy International Inc., Houston, is 'NOT BBB Accredited' and shows 'Not Rated' because 'it is out of business'. BBB displays 290 total complaints in the last 3 years, 86 complaints closed in the last 12 months, and customer reviews averaging 1 out of 5 stars across 22 reviews, plus alerts titled 'Bankruptcy' and one about complaints. Reviews on the profile include one reviewer who says a project was cancelled and that the installer and Sunnova did not respond to a request to remove panels, one who says services such as repairs, billing and monitoring are limited since the bankruptcy, and one lease customer managed by SunStrong who says he called twice about a possible inverter failure. These are BBB's displayed counts and customer statements, which BBB does not verify.
CFPB database (as displayed on October 6, 2026). Under the company name 'Sunnova Energy Corporation' the database lists 115 complaints, first received June 7, 2023 and most recent December 16, 2025, with 27 received since October 6, 2025. The products consumers selected were payday, title, personal or advance loan (44), credit reporting (33), debt collection (20), mortgage (7) and money transfer or virtual currency (4). The CFPB's response field shows 'Untimely response' for 83, 'Closed with explanation' for 31 and 'Closed with monetary relief' for 1. The CFPB publishes consumer narratives and categories without verifying them. Complaints about SunStrong's servicing may sit under other company names, and none were combined with these figures.
Trustpilot (as displayed on October 7, 2026). Trustpilot shows a claimed profile with a 4.3 TrustScore and 2,047 reviews, of which 2 were written in the last 12 months. Trustpilot says the company 'hasn't invited customers recently, so reviews may not be representative' and that it hasn't replied to negative reviews. The source counts for BBB, CFPB and Trustpilot are different measures from different dates and are not added together.
Sunnova litigation record: the Chapter 11 case, claims and pending adversary proceedings
Main case. In re Sunnova Energy International Inc., et al., Bankr. S.D. Tex. No. 25-90160. The docket was still active on October 6, 2026: the latest entries (September 2026) are notices of appearance, affidavits and stipulations, and entries earlier in 2026 include stay-relief stipulations, extensions of the claim-objection deadline and an extension of a stay of derivative litigation.
Adversary proceedings. Kroll's case page lists eleven adversary proceedings, among them Weatherwax v. Sunnova Energy International Inc. (No. 25-03423), a class action whose complaint is titled as a claim under the federal WARN Act (employee notice), where on July 29, 2026 the court denied the debtors' partial motion to dismiss the second amended class action complaint. Other adversary proceedings are filed by individuals (for example Romero, De Lourdes Iraheta, Claudio, Ortega); their claims were not reviewed for this page and are not characterized here. Allegations in any of these filings are not findings.
Claims. Under the plan, holders of allowed general unsecured claims (Class 4) receive Creditor Trust beneficial interests. Whether a particular customer's contract passed to the buyers depends on the contract and the sale documents; Sunnova's and SunStrong's pages say payment terms continue, and this page has not reviewed the assigned-contract schedules.
Is Sunnova Energy Legitimate?
Sunnova Energy International Inc. was an SEC registrant (Form 10-K for 2024 filed March 3, 2025; the New York Stock Exchange filed a Form 25-NSE on June 10, 2025) and a Delaware corporation with a Houston headquarters; BBB records show the file opened in 2014. A federal bankruptcy court case (No. 25-90160) and a court-approved sale of substantially all of its assets are on public record, and the company's own site says it 'has ceased independent operations'. BBB shows 'Not Rated' because the business is out of business, and does not list it as accredited. For a current Sunnova customer the practical question is which company bills and services the system, which Sunnova's page answers as SunStrong Management. This page makes no rating of the company or of SunStrong.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is Sunnova still in business?
Sunnova's own website says that through a court-supervised Chapter 11 sale process new owners acquired substantially all of its assets and operations and that 'Sunnova has ceased independent operations'. The Chapter 11 petitions were filed on June 8, 2025 (June 1 for Sunnova TEP Developer, LLC) and the plan took effect on November 14, 2025 according to the Kroll case page. SunStrong Management services the in-service customer systems acquired by the new owner group.
Who do I pay if I have a Sunnova lease, PPA or loan?
SunStrong's 'Your account' page lists separate bill-payment portals for Sunnova accounts: 'LEASE & PPA' at esp.myaccountinfo.com/Sunstrong and 'LOAN' at sunstrong.youronlineaccount.com. Both Sunnova's page and SunStrong's help center say to keep paying as usual until SunStrong gives updated instructions directly. Use the links from SunStrong's page rather than links in unsolicited messages.
Did the bankruptcy change my Sunnova contract?
SunStrong's help center says there are no changes to existing financing agreement terms 'aside from any previously expected escalators noted in your contract and/or changes to sales tax'. Sunnova's page answers 'No' to whether payments or contract terms will change. The two pages do not address equipment warranties in detail; SunStrong separately lists third-party repair services for uncovered repairs, so check your agreement and ask SunStrong in writing about warranty and maintenance coverage.
Why did sales tax appear on my solar bill after SunStrong took over?
SunStrong's help center says sales tax is set by state and local governments, that SunStrong is required to charge applicable taxes, and that 'in some instances former owner/servicers of our customers did not charge the required sales tax', so SunStrong is collecting government-mandated sales tax going forward. Customers who disagree can ask SunStrong for the tax basis and can contact their state taxing authority.
My Sunnova installation was not finished. Who can help?
Sunnova's page says SunStrong is working with GoodLeap to complete certain in-progress installations and that a dealer or a GoodLeap representative will contact customers whose project qualifies. It lists GoodLeap at (888) 975-5436 and [email protected]. The page does not say that every incomplete project will be finished; keep copies of the contract, deposits and messages with the dealer.
Can I still file a claim in the Sunnova bankruptcy?
The Kroll case page shows a general proof-of-claim deadline of August 6, 2025 at 5:00 p.m. Central and a governmental deadline of December 5, 2025, both passed. The docket shows motions to file late proofs of claim, and a June 30, 2026 order extended the Creditor Trustee's time to object to claims through November 9, 2026. Questions about a specific claim go to Kroll at (888) 975-5436 or to the Creditor Trustee's counsel; this page cannot confirm whether a late claim would be allowed.
How do I sell a home that has a Sunnova solar system?
SunStrong's Homeowners page has a 'Sell My Home' quick action asking owners to let SunStrong know as soon as possible if they are selling a home with solar, and it links to a customer inquiry form. Your agreement's transfer terms govern what the buyer must sign; SunStrong's pages quoted here do not list those terms, so ask SunStrong for the transfer requirements in writing.
Where can I file a complaint about Sunnova or its servicer?
The CFPB's complaint page takes complaints about financial products such as loans, credit reporting and debt collection and shows (855) 411-2372 as its phone line; the FTC's ReportFraud site says it shares reports with law enforcers but cannot resolve individual reports. State attorneys general and consumer protection offices accept complaints about solar sales and financing, BBB accepts complaints on its profile, and in Puerto Rico the Department of Consumer Affairs (DACO) is the agency named in the confirmation order's Puerto Rico provision. Send the same facts to SunStrong's help center first so the account has a written record.
What do BBB, the CFPB and Trustpilot show for Sunnova?
As displayed on October 6 and 7, 2026, BBB shows Sunnova Energy International Inc. as not accredited and not rated because it is out of business, with 290 complaints in three years and 22 reviews averaging 1 out of 5; the CFPB database lists 115 complaints under Sunnova Energy Corporation; and Trustpilot shows 4.3 from 2,047 reviews, with two in the last 12 months. Details, dates and cautions are in the complaint record section; these are separate measures and are not added together.
