StockX orders, returns, refunds and support: what the Help Center says (checked October 14, 2026)

Cancel an order. The Help Center says Verified Marketplace purchases (new, unworn items) typically arrive within 5-12 business days and that 'You can cancel select orders outside the estimated delivery window directly from your account': the 'Pending Orders' tab shows a self-service cancellation option if the order is eligible. Self-service cancellation is only available for orders placed through a StockX account; for a Guest Checkout order the article says the order 'may still be eligible for the StockX Buyer Promise'. For Listings and Live purchases the article says buyers send the seller a Direct Message and 'It is up to the seller' to cancel; it says the seller has two business days to ship the item and that an order is canceled automatically and refunded if the seller does not ship within 30 days of the sale. For a Verified Marketplace item that was received but is no longer wanted, the same article describes No Fee Resale: relisting the item without transaction, processing or shipping fees within 90 days of delivery.

Return an item. The Return Policy article says US customers can return eligible Verified Marketplace purchases within 14 days of delivery for StockX Credit, only where the product page and Buying History show the '14 Day Return' label at the time of purchase and the item is unused and in the condition delivered (with the StockX tag still attached if it had one). The steps given are Buying > History, open the order, 'Start Return', then ship the item within 7 days of initiating the return using the label. The article says returns are subject to review and may be denied if flagged; that 'If a return does not pass Returns Verification, you will be asked to confirm your payment information and pay the cost of return shipping before the item is sent back to you'; and that 'If you purchased using Guest Checkout, returns may not be available.' Listings and Live purchases are not eligible for that policy. The Terms say StockX Credit 'may not be purchased or redeemed for cash' and 'expires twelve (12) months after it is issued, is nontransferable, and may not be used to place a Bid'.

Item not as described. The Buyer Promise article says a request must be submitted within 14 days of delivery when an item is materially different from its description (examples given: damaged item, wrong order, wrong size, or a condition different from what was described). For Verified Marketplace orders, and Listings orders where verification was purchased, it says StockX provides a prepaid label to the StockX facility if the order is eligible, and that 'the item must be unworn and in the condition it was delivered. If it came with a StockX tag, the tag must still be attached.' For Listings or Live orders without verification the seller can open a return, reject it or offer a partial refund; a rejected return can be escalated to StockX Customer Service, which the article says reviews 'the concern, the listing, live video recording, and message history'. The article says approved returns receive a prepaid shipping label and the original payment method is refunded.

Contact StockX. The Help Center lists live chat (Monday-Friday 9am-9pm ET, Saturday-Sunday 10am-6pm ET), phone (Monday-Friday 9am-5pm ET) and an email form available 24/7, reached through 'Contact Us'. If a dispute is not resolved, other routes include a complaint to the FTC (reportfraud.ftc.gov), the Michigan Attorney General, or a card issuer dispute; the Terms contain an arbitration clause described in the legal section below.

Who operates StockX

The Terms say the services are operated by StockX LLC, 1046 Woodward Ave, Detroit, MI 48226. BBB's profile lists StockX as a limited liability company that started and was incorporated on June 23, 2015 (raw page data). StockX's How It Works page says every item in its Verified Marketplace 'goes through our proprietary, multi-step verification process, or comes directly from a StockX Verified Seller', and describes a Listings Marketplace where sellers verify their identity and StockX verification can be purchased on eligible items. The Terms (Section 7) state that items sold through the Verified Marketplace, 'excluding items sold through the StockX Verified Seller Program, are subject to StockX's verification process', and that for items sold through the Listings Marketplace or the StockX Verified Seller Program 'the item will not undergo StockX's verification process' unless the buyer selects optional verification where offered.

StockX's Company page names Greg Schwartz as chief executive officer.

2019 data security incident (StockX's own notice). A customer notification letter dated August 8, 2019, listed by the California Attorney General with 'Date(s) of Breach' Tuesday, May 14, 2019, says StockX 'was alerted to suspicious activity potentially involving customer data' on July 26, 2019 and that forensic evidence showed an unknown third party had gained unauthorized access to certain customer data from its cloud environment 'on or around May 14, 2019'. The letter says 'the information affected may include your name, email address, address, username, hashed password, and purchase history', that there was 'no evidence to date' that financial or payment information was affected, and that StockX offered 12 months of fraud detection and identity theft protection. The letter does not state a number of accounts; the 6.8 million figure appears only as a plaintiffs' allegation in the court record below.

Court record checked on October 14, 2026

Nike, Inc. v. StockX LLC (S.D.N.Y. 1:22-cv-00983). Filed February 3, 2022; CourtListener lists the cause as trademark infringement. On March 4, 2025 (docket entry 319) Judge Valerie E. Caproni ruled that Nike's motion for partial summary judgment was 'GRANTED to the extent it seeks a judgment that StockX is liable for distributing counterfeit goods with respect to the four pairs of shoes it sold to Nike's investigators and the 33 pairs of shoes it sold to Roy Kim', that Nike's motion was 'DENIED in all other respects', and that 'StockX's motion is DENIED in its entirety', for the reasons the court set forth at oral argument. The docket later shows a trial set to begin October 14, 2025, then an August 29, 2025 stipulation of voluntary dismissal under Rule 41(a)(1)(A)(ii) filed by Nike and, on September 3, 2025, a stipulation and order of voluntary dismissal. The entries read do not state the terms of any settlement. The ruling is specific to those 37 pairs and is not a finding about StockX's other inventory.

2019 data-breach class action (I.C. v. StockX, LLC; E.D. Mich. 2:19-cv-12441). Filed August 19, 2019 and later titled In re StockX Customer Data Security Breach Litigation in the Sixth Circuit. The Sixth Circuit's opinion records that the plaintiffs 'allege that in May 2019, a computer hacker breached StockX's system, stole personal information from 6.8 million StockX user accounts, and listed the data on the "dark web"'; that number is the plaintiffs' allegation, not a finding. The docket shows an order on December 23, 2020 granting StockX's motion to dismiss and compel arbitration; the Sixth Circuit opinion of December 2, 2021 affirmed ('the arbitrator must decide in the first instance whether the defenses of infancy and unconscionability allow plaintiffs to avoid arbitrating the merits of their claims'), with one judge dissenting; and an order of dismissal was entered January 5, 2022. In the related Esquer action the court issued an order on June 15, 2021 regarding the application of California law and not compelling arbitration, and a stipulated order dismissed that action with prejudice on December 1, 2021 after a November 4, 2021 notice of settlement; the entries read do not state settlement terms. The dockets read do not show the outcome of any arbitration.

Other dockets. A CourtListener search on 2026-10-14 for case names containing StockX returned 35 cases, among them filings against StockX LLC in federal courts in Michigan, California, Minnesota, Florida, New York and Pennsylvania. Where a docket states a category it is named here and nothing more is inferred: Stubing v. StockX LLC (E.D. Mich. 4:26-cv-10452, filed February 10, 2026) lists nature of suit 485, Telephone Consumer Protection Act; Lee v. StockX LLC (E.D. Mich. 2:25-cv-11668, filed June 5, 2025) lists complaint exhibits titled 'Original Photograph' and 'Infringing uses of Photograph' and a 'Copyright Report Sent To Washington' entry; Merrill v. StockX LLC (C.D. Cal. 2:26-cv-07875, filed July 17, 2026) shows a complaint and summons issued for StockX Inc. and StockX LLC, and the entries read do not state its claims. Most other dockets read do not state their claims, and none of these cases is described here as having an outcome.

Arbitration clause. Section 19 of the Terms provides for binding individual arbitration under the American Arbitration Association's Consumer Arbitration Rules. Before arbitration the Terms require a written notice addressed to StockX LLC, Attn: Legal Department, followed by 60 days of good-faith efforts including a telephone call or videoconference. The Terms also keep the right to bring qualifying claims in small claims court, set a process for cases where 25 or more similar claims are asserted, and say users will be 'only permitted to bring claims against us and seek relief on an individual basis' unless they opt out. The opt-out is available to new users by a signed notice postmarked within 30 days of first accepting the Terms, mailed to StockX LLC, 1046 Woodward Ave., Detroit, MI 48226, attn: Legal Department. Section 24 selects Michigan law and Wayne County, Michigan courts for claims not subject to arbitration. The Terms also limit liability to the greater of the fees paid in the preceding twelve months or USD $100.
