Something & Nothing

Something & Nothing is a brand of lightly carbonated non-alcoholic "premium sodas" (previously called seltzers) sold from a U.S. online store that ships to the contiguous United States and through U.S. retailers. Its UK/EU terms name Modern Contradiction Limited (UK company 10928856) as the seller, its U.S. Terms give a Dover, Delaware contact address for Modern Contradiction Inc., and the USPTO lists Modern Contradiction Limited as owner of the SOMETHING & NOTHING trademark. USAComplaints has no complaints about the company, and the specific openFDA, BBB, Trustpilot and CourtListener searches described on this page returned no matching records on 2026-09-30. Its return, shipping and subscription policy text is quoted below, including places where the company's own pages differ.

Ordering from Something & Nothing? Contacts, returns, shipping and subscriptions

The company's U.S. store is us.somethingandnothing.co. Its Contact page (us.somethingandnothing.co/pages/contact, linked from the store menu) says only "Get in touch" with [email protected], and its FAQ ("How do I resolve an issue with an online order?") says: "Hit the chat icon at the bottom of the page or contact us at [email protected] and someone will respond." A second Contact page that is also live, us.somethingandnothing.co/pages/contact-usa, says "Get in touch" with [email protected] instead; it appears in the store's page sitemap but was not linked from the store pages checked (home page, Contact, FAQ, Read Me, the Yuzu product page and the legacy Seltzers page). The company's Refund, Shipping and Privacy policy pages give [email protected] (the Shipping policy also mentions "the live chat"). This profile does not determine which of the three addresses is monitored, and the company's own pages publish all three. No phone number appeared on the U.S. Contact page, FAQ, Terms or policy pages checked on 2026-09-30, and those pages state no response-time commitment or escalation channel beyond these addresses and the chat.

Returns and refunds. The U.S. Refund policy says: "We have a 30-day return policy, which means you have 30 days after receiving your item to request a return." It adds that the item must be "in the same condition that you received it, unworn or unused, with tags, and in its original packaging," that "You'll also need the receipt or proof of purchase," that returns start by emailing [email protected] ("If your return is accepted, we'll send you a return shipping label"), and that "Items sent back to us without first requesting a return will not be accepted." The same page says "Certain types of items cannot be returned, like perishable goods (such as food, flowers, or plants)" and "we cannot accept returns on sale items or gift cards"; approved refunds go "automatically" to the original payment method. The separate Shipping policy says: "We accept returns up to 30 days after delivery, if the item is unused and in its original condition, and we will refund the full order amount minus the shipping costs for the return." The two pages are worded differently, and neither mentions beverages or unopened cans specifically, so ask the company in writing which applies to your order.

Damaged or late orders. The Refund policy says to "contact us immediately if the item is defective, damaged or if you receive the wrong item." The Shipping policy says to email "as soon as possible" with your order number and a photo of the item's condition, adding: "We address these on a case-by-case basis but will try our best to work towards a satisfactory solution." For a late order it says that if it has not arrived "within 7 business days of receiving your shipping confirmation email" you should email with your name and order number, "and we will look into it for you." The pages checked state no replacement or refund deadline, response time, or rule for drinks that cannot be used.

Subscriptions. The U.S. Subscription policy (headed "Cancellation policy") lists: "Easy updates. Pause, skip or cancel anytime directly in your account," "Free shipping. Delivered every 30 days," and "If you choose to cancel before your second order, you will be charged the difference of the one-time purchase price." It also says that to complete a subscription purchase you must tick a checkbox at checkout agreeing to a subscription. The policy links to a subscription-access page (us.somethingandnothing.co/tools/recurring/get-subscription-access); the U.S. FAQ ("How do subscriptions work?") repeats that sentence and adds: "your order confirmation emails have links to your order. You can manage your subscription from there." Two other live U.S. pages word this differently. The Yuzu product page lists "Free shipping on orders over $50 & subscriptions" in its shipping line and, in its subscription bullets, "Cancel anytime before your next order is processed." A second policy page, us.somethingandnothing.co/pages/subscription-policy (headed "Subscription policy"; the store footer links only the /policies/ version), lists "Free shipping on orders over $50. Delivered every 30 days" and "Cancel anytime before your next order is processed," and its text contains no "difference of the one-time purchase price" sentence. The U.S. Terms of Service text checked does not mention subscriptions. None of the U.S. pages checked says how the "difference" is calculated, whether tax or shipping is included, when it is charged, a cancellation cutoff time, or how a cancellation is confirmed; ask before cancelling early, and screenshot your order confirmation and any cancellation confirmation.

Shipping. The U.S. Shipping policy says the company ships to the "Contiguous United States of America" and does "not ship to: AK, HI or Puerto Rico," with this table: "$0-20 | Free (due to low weight)," "$20.01-49.99 | $5," "$50 and above | Free" (the page adds "Free shipping for orders under $20 (Taster packs, Shopping bag)"). The U.S. site banner and the Yuzu product page say "Free shipping on orders over $50" (the product page adds "& subscriptions"). The U.S. FAQ's subscription answer, however, says "Free shipping on order over £35," a pound figure on the U.S. site, while the U.S. Subscription policy says only "Free shipping." If you paid by card and the company does not resolve a problem, the FTC's page on disputing credit card charges describes the Fair Credit Billing Act process for billing errors, including a letter to the card issuer that must arrive "within 60 days after the first bill with the error was sent to you"; that page is general guidance about credit cards, not something the company publishes, and other payment methods have their own rules.

If you ordered from the UK/EU store (somethingandnothing.co). Its pages differ from the U.S. ones and are quoted here as UK/EU pages. Section 8 of the UK/EU Terms (last updated 18 August 2026) says: "You can cancel at any time without a minimum commitment, provided cancellation reaches the subscription system before the next order is processed." The UK Subscription policy says: "If you choose to cancel before your second order, you will be charged the difference of the one-time purchase price," and "you will receive an email three days before your next shipment with a direct link to manage your subscription." A second UK/EU page, somethingandnothing.co/pages/subscription-policy ("Last updated: 18 August 2026"), says "You may cancel at any time without a cancellation fee" and "Cancellation must be completed before the next order is processed," with no "difference" sentence. The pages do not explain how these statements fit together, so UK/EU customers may want written clarification from the company before cancelling early. UK free-shipping figures also differ: the UK site banner says "Free shipping on orders over £45" and "Free shipping on subscriptions from 2 cases"; the UK Shipping policy table says "£35 and above | Free" (with £3.50 for £20-34.99 and "Free (due to low weight)" below £20); the UK Subscription policy says "Free shipping on orders over £35." UK/EU contact addresses differ too: the UK/EU Terms and the UK Returns and Cancellation Policy give [email protected] (without "and"), the UK Contact page gives [email protected], and the UK Shipping policy gives [email protected]. This profile does not determine which of these is correct or monitored.

Where the company's own live pages differ (checked 2026-09-30). These are differences between pages, listed without a finding about which is right:

  • Subscription cancellation: /policies/subscription-policy and the FAQ say a customer who cancels before the second order is "charged the difference of the one-time purchase price"; /pages/subscription-policy and the Yuzu product page say "Cancel anytime before your next order is processed" (see Subscriptions above).
  • Free shipping: $50 on the U.S. banner, product page and /pages/subscription-policy; "over £35" in the U.S. FAQ; "Free shipping." with no figure in /policies/subscription-policy.
  • Contact address: george@ (Contact page, FAQ, Terms contact block), sam@ (/pages/contact-usa) and max@ (Refund, Shipping and Privacy policies, one copy of the Terms).
  • Wholesale regions: /pages/distributors lists North East, Mid-Atlantic, California, Chicago and Pacific NW; /pages/wholesale lists North East, Mid-Atlantic, Southern California and Las Vegas.
  • Yuzu can size and calories: "under 44 calories per can (11oz)" and "Each can is 11.16oz (330ml)" on the company page; 50 calories and 9g sugar on a retailer listing (see the background section).
  • Legacy Spritz page: a live page shows a Spritz with an "Add to cart" button that the current product menu does not list (see the background section).

FDA enforcement-report searches: no matches for the queries run

On 2026-09-30 the openFDA enforcement APIs (api.fda.gov/food/enforcement.json and api.fda.gov/drug/enforcement.json, the machine-readable form of FDA enforcement reports) answered "No matches found!" (HTTP 404, the API's zero-result response) for these searches: recalling_firm "Modern Contradiction", "Modern Contradiction Inc", "Something & Nothing" and "Something and Nothing"; and product_description "Something & Nothing", "Something and Nothing", "Yuzu Premium Soda", "Cucumber Premium Soda", "Cucumber Soda", "Hibiscus & Rose", "Mango & Thai Basil", "Ginger & Key Lime", "Pineapple & Pink Grapefruit", "Orange & Mandarin" and "Sicilian Lemon Iced Tea". A control search (recalling_firm "Coca-Cola", food dataset) returned 79 records. The taster pack and the travel cases were not searched by name, and FDA warning letters, FDA press-release recall lists and FDA's device dataset were not searched. This is a statement about those queries, not a certification that no recall exists.

Reporting a problem to FDA. FDA's Report a Problem page (content current as of 05/11/2026) lists a "Safety Reporting Portal" under "Human Foods." FDA's Consumer Complaint Coordinators page (content current as of 10/01/2024) says that all FDA centers "now directly receive reports of problems or adverse reactions with FDA-regulated products," directs people to FDA's SmartHub webpage ("which will guide you to the appropriate webform or phone number"), gives 1-888-INFO-FDA as the alternative ("If you are not able to use the SmartHub, you may also call 1-888-INFO-FDA and follow the prompts to report a problem"), and states: "The ORA consumer complaint coordinator telephone numbers previously available on this page are no longer in use." These are FDA routes for a food or beverage safety concern, separate from writing to the company. No safety contact, lot-code instructions or adverse-event procedure appeared on the company pages checked.

Who is behind Something & Nothing

Operator. The U.S. Terms of Service say: "This website is operated by Something & Nothing." The contact block in the second copy of those terms on the page reads "Something & Nothing, [email protected], Modern Contradiction Inc., 8 The Green, Dover DE 19901, United States," and the U.S. Privacy Policy ("Last updated: November 5, 2024") gives the same Dover address and says "we are the data controller of your personal information." The U.S. Terms page shows the terms text twice; one copy names [email protected] and the other [email protected] and still contains the unfilled placeholder "[LINK TO REFUND POLICY]". A Delaware registry record for "Modern Contradiction Inc." was not opened for this profile. FDA's published list of Foreign Supplier Verification Program (FSVP) importers (the file for April 1, 2026 to June 30, 2026, linked from a page marked "Content current as of: 07/01/2026") contains an entry "MODERN CONTRADICTION INC" with state code "DE". FDA says the entities on that list "may not be the same entities that serve as the 'importers of record'" for U.S. Customs and Border Protection purposes, and that "Inclusion on this list does not in any way convey FDA's approval or endorsement of the listed importers." The entry shows only a name and state as declared at import entry; it is not a Delaware registry record, and this profile does not say what the entity imports.

UK/EU seller and trademark owner. The UK/EU store's Terms ("Last updated: 18 August 2026"), which apply to that store only, say that for orders delivered in the United Kingdom "the seller is: Modern Contradiction Limited, trading as Something & Nothing," company number 10928856, registered office 1 Brassey Road, Old Potts Way, Shrewsbury, Shropshire, SY3 7FA, and that for orders delivered in the European Union that company "operates through its Netherlands establishment" at Herengracht 449A, Amsterdam (KVK number 80341349). Companies House lists MODERN CONTRADICTION LIMITED as an active private limited company "Incorporated on 23 August 2017"; that is the UK company's incorporation date, and this profile does not give a founding year for the Something & Nothing brand. The USPTO record for the word mark SOMETHING & NOTHING (Registration No. 6383004, registered June 15, 2021, via international registration 1551229) names Modern Contradiction Limited, a limited company organized in the United Kingdom, as owner, covering clothing, non-alcoholic drinks (including seltzer water, soda water and fruit-flavored soft drinks) and alcoholic beverages such as wines and wine-based drinks.

Products and where sold. The company sells cases of cans through its U.S. store. The Yuzu product page (listed at $37.95 on 2026-09-30) is titled "Yuzu Premium Soda | 12x12 fl oz," and its own text about can size and calories is not uniform: one line says "under 44 calories per can (11oz)," another says "44 calories per can. Each can is 11.16oz (330ml)," and the nutrition table lists "13kcal" per 100ml. The Fresh Market's delivery-site listing for "Something & Nothing Yuzu Premium Soda" (12 fl oz) shows "Calories 50" and "Sugar 9g." This profile does not reconcile the company's and the retailer's figures or say which is right (retailer listings can carry data from a different source); check the label on the product you receive. The page also says the sodas "contain grape juice and lemon juice." The company's FAQ says the range formerly called seltzers is now called "Premium Sodas."

Wholesale and retailers. The company's two live U.S. wholesale pages list different regions. /pages/distributors says: "We currently work with distributors in North East, Mid-Atlantic, California, Chicago, and Pacific NW." /pages/wholesale says: "We currently work with distributors in North East, Mid-Atlantic, Southern California and Las Vegas." Both point outlets outside those regions to Faire and are linked from the store menu. Retailer product pages for the sodas were open on 2026-09-30 at The Fresh Market's delivery site (Yuzu), Whole Foods Market (Cucumber, "Something & Nothing Soda Premium Cucumber, 12 Fl Oz") and World Market (Cucumber, marked "In Store Only" with the message "Sorry, not available for shipping").

Legacy Spritz page. The U.S. store's current product links list sodas, an iced tea, a taster pack and travel cases, and no Spritz. A May 4, 2022 press release published by Brewbound says a 4 percent ABV Something & Nothing Spritz launched in the U.S. on May 2 of that year. A legacy page, us.somethingandnothing.co/pages/seltzers (og:title "Something & Nothing Seltzers & Spritz"), was still live on 2026-09-30; it appears in the store's page sitemap, and it was not linked from the store pages checked. It describes "A range of Spritz made with quality dry French wine and our award winning Seltzers" at "(4% vol.)", shows a "Sauvignon Blanc + Cucumber Spritz" at "$69.95 USD" for a "12 pack" with an "Add to cart" button, and lists "Vegan, 96 calories per can (11oz)" beside "41 calories per can. Each can is 11.16oz (330ml)" for that drink. A "French Rosé + Hibiscus & Rose Spritz" section on the same page displays the text "Liquid error (sections/seltzer-template line 299): product form must be given a product." This profile does not determine whether either Spritz can currently be bought. The U.S. store shows an over-21 age prompt.

Certification. B Lab lists Modern Contradiction Limited as a Certified B Corporation, "Certified Since March 2024," Industry "Beverages," website somethingandnothing.co, and publishes an "overall score of 88.2" from the B Impact assessment (B Lab's page gives 80 as the score that "Qualifies for B Corp Certification" and 50.9 as the median for ordinary businesses). That is B Lab's assessment of the company's practices as it describes them; it is not a measure of customer service, refunds or product quality.

Complaint and review record on other platforms

USAComplaints has no complaints about this company. On 2026-09-30 five searches of the BBB directory (bbb.org/search, country USA) gave these results: "Something & Nothing" returned four differently named businesses (Nothing Something, Brooklyn NY; Something For Nothing, LLC, Bluffton SC; Something Or Nothing Variety, Hobbs NM; From Nothing to Something Washes LLC, Brooklyn NY); "Modern Contradiction", "Modern Contradiction Inc", "Something and Nothing" and "Something Nothing soda" each returned "No results." Those searches showed no BBB profile for this business; BBB says it does not have every business in its directory, and the UK seller may not be listed for that reason. Trustpilot's page for somethingandnothing.co is an unclaimed profile showing "Reviews 0" and "0 reviews in the last 12 months." The CFPB complaint database covers financial products and is not relevant to a beverage seller. ComplaintsBoard was not checked. These are records of the searches run, not a measure of customer satisfaction.

Court records

On 2026-09-30, CourtListener searches (search API v4) by case name for "Modern Contradiction" and for "Something & Nothing" returned 0 results in both the federal docket (RECAP) and opinion collections, and the exact phrases "Modern Contradiction Limited" and "Modern Contradiction Inc" returned 0 results in both. A full-text search for the phrase "Something & Nothing" returned 32 docket entries and 20 opinions, none of which was opened one by one; the case names listed did not name this company. These searches do not cover variant party names, state courts, FTC or state attorney general actions, or FDA warning letters, none of which were searched.

Is Something & Nothing Legitimate?

Something & Nothing is a brand name used by Modern Contradiction Limited, an active UK private limited company (No. 10928856, incorporated 23 August 2017) that is named in the company's own UK/EU Terms and as owner of USPTO Registration No. 6383004 for the SOMETHING & NOTHING word mark. The company's U.S. Terms name Modern Contradiction Inc. at a Dover, Delaware address, and FDA's FSVP importer list contains an entry "MODERN CONTRADICTION INC" (state code DE); neither was checked in a Delaware registry. The U.S. store publishes Refund, Shipping, Subscription and Privacy policy pages and an email contact, but no phone number was found, and some of its pages differ from one another (see the first section). On 2026-09-30 the specific searches described on this page (openFDA enforcement reports, BBB directory name searches, CourtListener case-name searches) returned no matching records, and Trustpilot shows an unclaimed profile with 0 reviews; this page assigns the company no rating or verdict.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Something & Nothing and did it stop calling its drinks seltzers?

Something & Nothing sells lightly carbonated non-alcoholic drinks made, the company says, with grape and lemon juice, extracts and botanicals. Its FAQ says: "we're no longer calling our 0% range 'Seltzers'. Instead, they're now known as Premium Sodas," and gives the reason that the word seltzer had become associated with alcoholic products. Older pages, retailer listings and press coverage still use "seltzer."

Which company operates Something & Nothing in the U.S.?

The U.S. Terms say the website "is operated by Something & Nothing" and list "Modern Contradiction Inc., 8 The Green, Dover DE 19901" in the contact block. The UK/EU Terms name Modern Contradiction Limited (UK company number 10928856), and the USPTO shows Modern Contradiction Limited as owner of the U.S. trademark registration. FDA's FSVP importer list (April 1 to June 30, 2026 file) has an entry "MODERN CONTRADICTION INC" with state code DE. The Delaware entity was not confirmed in a Delaware registry for this profile.

How do I contact Something & Nothing about an order?

The U.S. FAQ tells customers to use the chat icon at the bottom of the site or email [email protected], which is also the address on the U.S. Contact page. A second live U.S. page, /pages/contact-usa, gives [email protected], and the U.S. Refund, Shipping and Privacy policy pages give [email protected] for returns and undelivered orders. No phone number was found on the U.S. Contact pages, FAQ, Terms or policy pages checked on 2026-09-30, and no response time is stated. The UK/EU pages list other spellings: [email protected] (UK/EU Terms and UK Returns and Cancellation Policy), [email protected] (UK Contact page) and [email protected] (UK Shipping policy).

What is Something & Nothing's return and refund policy?

The U.S. Refund policy says "We have a 30-day return policy" for items in the condition received, requested by email, and lists "perishable goods (such as food, flowers, or plants)" among items that cannot be returned. The U.S. Shipping policy separately says "We accept returns up to 30 days after delivery, if the item is unused and in its original condition." Neither page mentions unopened cans specifically, so confirm the terms for your order in writing. The full wording is quoted in the first section of this page.

How do I cancel a Something & Nothing subscription?

The U.S. Subscription policy says "Pause, skip or cancel anytime directly in your account," and the U.S. FAQ says order confirmation emails contain links to the order from which the subscription can be managed. Two U.S. pages word the cancellation terms differently. /policies/subscription-policy (the version the store footer links) and the FAQ say "If you choose to cancel before your second order, you will be charged the difference of the one-time purchase price"; /pages/subscription-policy and the Yuzu product page say "Cancel anytime before your next order is processed" and do not include the "difference" sentence. The pages checked do not explain how the difference is calculated or when it is charged, and the company has not said which wording governs. The UK/EU Terms say "You can cancel at any time without a minimum commitment, provided cancellation reaches the subscription system before the next order is processed," while the UK /policies/ Subscription policy carries the "difference" sentence and the UK /pages/ version does not; UK/EU customers may want written clarification. The U.S. FAQ's subscription answer also mentions free shipping "over £35," while the U.S. product page says "Free shipping on orders over $50 & subscriptions."

Where does Something & Nothing ship in the U.S. and where is it sold?

The U.S. Shipping policy says the store ships to the "Contiguous United States of America" and not to Alaska, Hawaii or Puerto Rico, with UPS delivery estimates of 2 to 7 business days by region and orders "usually processed within 1 to 2 business days." Its rate table reads "$0-20 | Free (due to low weight)," "$20.01-49.99 | $5" and "$50 and above | Free." It says it does not ship to Canada itself and points Canadian customers to Søbr. The company's two wholesale pages list different distributor regions (/pages/distributors: North East, Mid-Atlantic, California, Chicago, Pacific NW; /pages/wholesale: North East, Mid-Atlantic, Southern California, Las Vegas). Retailer product pages were open on 2026-09-30 at The Fresh Market's delivery site, Whole Foods Market and World Market (whose Cucumber listing showed "In Store Only").

Has Something & Nothing had an FDA recall?

The openFDA Food and Drug Enforcement datasets returned no matches on 2026-09-30 for the firm names and product names listed in the FDA section of this page (including Yuzu and Cucumber). That covers only those queries; the taster pack, travel cases, FDA warning letters and FDA recall press releases were not searched. To report a food or beverage safety concern to FDA, its Report a Problem page lists a Safety Reporting Portal for human foods, and its Consumer Complaint Coordinators page (content current as of 10/01/2024) directs people to the SmartHub webpage or 1-888-INFO-FDA and says the former ORA coordinator phone numbers "are no longer in use."

Are there lawsuits, BBB complaints or Trustpilot reviews about Something & Nothing?

On 2026-09-30, CourtListener case-name searches for "Modern Contradiction" and "Something & Nothing" returned 0 results in federal dockets and opinions; BBB directory searches for "Modern Contradiction" (with and without "Inc"), "Something and Nothing" and "Something Nothing soda" returned "No results," and the search for "Something & Nothing" returned four differently named businesses; and Trustpilot shows an unclaimed profile for somethingandnothing.co with 0 reviews. State courts and regulator dockets were not searched. USAComplaints has no complaints about the company. The queries are listed in the court, BBB and Trustpilot sections above.

Do the UK and U.S. Something & Nothing stores, and their pages, say the same thing?

The two stores publish different terms. The UK/EU Terms (last updated 18 August 2026) state that they "apply to consumer purchases from the UK/EU store at somethingandnothing.co," name Modern Contradiction Limited as seller for UK orders and are governed by the law of England and Wales. The U.S. store at us.somethingandnothing.co has its own Terms, Refund, Shipping, Subscription and Privacy pages; its Terms state they are governed by the laws of the United States. Pages within a store also differ: the first section of this page lists the differences found on 2026-09-30 in subscription cancellation wording, free-shipping figures, contact addresses and wholesale regions, and the background section describes the Yuzu calorie figures and a legacy Spritz page. Use the policy pages of the store where you ordered, and ask the company in writing which wording applies to your order.
