Solar Mosaic

Solar Mosaic, LLC (doing business as Mosaic) is a point-of-sale lender that has financed residential solar, battery, and home-improvement purchases sold through independent dealers since 2011. Mosaic and its corporate parent, Mosaic Sustainable Finance Corporation, filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas (Case No. 25-90156) on June 6, 2025; the reorganization plan took effect September 22, 2025, when loan servicing was transferred to Solar Servicing LLC, a Forbright Bank affiliate, and Olive Advisors, LLC became Plan Administrator winding down the estate. On September 16, 2026, Mosaic entered a consent judgment with the Tennessee and Kentucky Attorneys General requiring Mosaic, without any admission of liability or wrongdoing, to cease collection of a minimum of $303,460.75 in debt owed by consumers who financed purchases from Ideal Horizon Benefits, LLC d/b/a Solar Titan USA, where the debt was held and owned by Mosaic as of March 6, 2026; debt transferred to a third party before that date is excluded. Complaint and review snapshots reported separately below include 994 CFPB complaints since 2019 (391 in the last 12 months), a BBB profile with 477 complaints in three years and 1.43 out of 5 from 100 reviews, a Trustpilot score of 2.1 from 9 reviews, and zero complaints submitted to USAComplaints that are clearly about this solar lender.

Have a Solar Mosaic loan? Who services it now and what to do

If your solar, battery, or home-improvement loan was originated by Solar Mosaic, LLC ("Mosaic"), the most important practical fact is this: Mosaic filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy on June 6, 2025 (U.S. Bankruptcy Court, Southern District of Texas, Case No. 25-90156), its reorganization plan took effect on September 22, 2025, and on that same date Solar Servicing LLC — an affiliate of Forbright Bank — completed its acquisition of Mosaic's loan-servicing operations. Mosaic's old website, joinmosaic.com, now displays Solar Servicing's own branding and a borrower login.

  • To make a payment, log in at the payment portal linked from joinmosaic.com (solarservicing.myaccountinfo.com), or mail a payment to Solar Servicing, P.O. Box 78080, Phoenix, AZ 85062-8080 (overnight: 4343 N. Scottsdale Rd., Ste. 270, Scottsdale, AZ 85251).
  • For borrower support, call (866) 493-6367 (Monday–Thursday 8am–10pm ET, Friday 8am–9pm ET, Saturday 8am–1pm ET, closed Sunday), or email [email protected].
  • Selling your home? Call the same number and select option 3, or email [email protected]. Numerous BBB complaints describe UCC fixture filings (liens on the solar equipment, not the home itself) that were not released promptly after the loan was paid off during a sale; Solar Servicing's FAQ says the UCC-1 filing secures the solar equipment, not the real property. If a paid-off loan's filing has not been released, ask in writing for a UCC-3 termination/release statement and the name of the recording office where the original filing was made.
  • The deadline to file a Proof of Claim in the bankruptcy case was October 16, 2025, 4:00pm Central Time — that deadline has passed. The Plan Administrator (Olive Advisors, LLC) has stated in BBB complaint responses that it "does not have authority to rescind, cancel, or otherwise modify your loan obligations."
  • If you financed a Solar Titan USA system in Tennessee or Kentucky, see the regulator-action section below: a September 2026 consent judgment cancels certain debt for that specific group of borrowers, as of March 6, 2026. It does not cover borrowers who used a different installer.
  • To dispute a charge or file a regulatory complaint, you can still use the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau at consumerfinance.gov/complaint, or your state's financial regulator (e.g. California's Department of Financial Protection and Innovation, which licenses Mosaic).

Remember that Mosaic is the lender, not your solar installer. Questions about the physical solar system, its installation and warranties generally go to the installer or manufacturer, while questions about the loan, payments, credit reporting and UCC filings go to your loan servicer; depending on the facts, a dispute can involve both.

Tennessee and Kentucky Attorneys General: 2026 consent judgment

On February 6, 2023, the State of Tennessee and the Commonwealth of Kentucky sued Ideal Horizon Benefits, LLC d/b/a Solar Titan USA and several individuals, and separately named Solar Mosaic LLC as a co-defendant (State of Tennessee v. Ideal Horizon Benefits, LLC, E.D. Tenn., No. 3:23-CV-00046). The complaint alleged Mosaic violated the Consumer Financial Protection Act, the Truth in Lending Act, the Tennessee and Kentucky Consumer Protection Acts, and both states' Home Solicitation Sales Acts through its sale and servicing of loans that financed consumers' purchases of solar equipment from Solar Titan. No temporary restraining order was sought against Mosaic, and in an April 14, 2023 response Mosaic told the BBB that "Mosaic and Solar Titan USA are two separate companies with unrelated ownership," that "Solar Titan USA did not act as Mosaic's agent when loans were made to consumers," and that it was "committed to working with the Attorneys General ... to resolve the matter."

Mosaic filed a suggestion of bankruptcy in that case on June 9, 2025. On August 7, 2026, the Bankruptcy Court (S.D. Tex., Case No. 25-90156) approved Mosaic's agreement to a consent judgment under Bankruptcy Rule 9019, and on September 16, 2026 the district court signed the "Consent Judgment and Order Between Plaintiffs, the State of Tennessee and Commonwealth of Kentucky, and Defendant Solar Mosaic LLC." Mosaic did not admit the validity of any allegation or any liability or wrongdoing. Under the order:

  • Mosaic must cease collecting a minimum of $303,460.75 of "Covered Consumer Debt" — debt owed to Mosaic by Solar Titan USA customers that Mosaic still held and owned as of March 6, 2026 — and is permanently enjoined from collecting, attempting to collect, or assigning any right to collect that debt.
  • Mosaic must notify any collection agency or third party to stop collecting that debt within 10 business days, and may not sell or transfer it.
  • Mosaic must ask consumer reporting agencies to delete the debt from affected consumers' credit files (Mosaic is not liable if an agency fails to delete the debt, provided Mosaic acts in a commercially reasonable manner and supplies all documents necessary to fulfill the request).
  • Where Mosaic recorded a UCC fixture filing against a consumer's solar equipment, Mosaic must cause a termination statement to be filed within 60 business days of the Order's Effective Date. If informed that additional action is necessary, Mosaic must take that action as soon as practicable and no later than 14 business days after learning it is necessary. Within 10 business days after filing all necessary termination statements, Mosaic must give the Attorneys General a list of the consumers whose fixture filings it terminated.
  • If Mosaic receives a payment on Covered Consumer Debt after the Order's Effective Date, it must refund that payment within 30 days of receipt, and must notify each affected consumer by mail and email, within 30 business days, that their debt "has been canceled."

In exchange for cancellation of the Covered Consumer Debt, the Attorneys General released Mosaic, its Plan Administrator in Bankruptcy Case No. 25-90156, and the current servicers and sub-servicers of the Covered Consumer Debt from claims they could have brought against Mosaic in this action before the Order's Effective Date as a result of Mosaic's offering, providing, and servicing financing for purchases from Ideal Horizon Benefits LLC d/b/a Solar Titan USA. Within 14 days after entry of the Order, the Attorneys General must amend their bankruptcy proofs of claim to withdraw the claims concerning that financing. This settlement applies only to the defined group of Solar Titan USA customers' debt identified as of March 6, 2026 — it does not cancel debt for Mosaic borrowers who used a different solar installer. The underlying case remains open against the non-Mosaic defendants, who are separately subject to a court-appointed receiver over their assets.

Company background and the 2025 Chapter 11 bankruptcy

Solar Mosaic, LLC, commonly known as Mosaic, is a residential solar and home-improvement point-of-sale lender headquartered at 601 12th Street, Suite 325, Oakland, California. According to the Better Business Bureau, the company was started and incorporated on May 24, 2011, and as of its BBB profile listed 267 employees and products/services spanning battery storage, EV charging, HVAC, roofing, solar panels, and windows and doors. Mosaic financed loans originated by independent solar and home-improvement dealers/installers — not its own sales force — and is licensed by California's Department of Financial Protection and Innovation (BBB-listed license #6054631) and registered with the Nationwide Multistate Licensing System.

On June 6, 2025, Mosaic and its corporate parent, Mosaic Sustainable Finance Corporation, together with affiliates Modern Home LLC, Mosaic Funding Holdings LLC, and SMCTX LLC, filed jointly-administered Chapter 11 petitions in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas, Houston Division (Case No. 25-90156, Judge Christopher M. Lopez), a complex Chapter 11 case. First-day filings named Mark A. Renzi as Chief Restructuring Officer and sought approval to sell substantially all of the debtors' assets under Bankruptcy Code Section 363; secured lenders and other creditors that appeared in the case included Forbright Bank, BNP Paribas, WebBank, Santander Bank, N.A., and Wilmington Trust, National Association. Kroll Restructuring Administration LLC served as the case's claims, noticing, and solicitation agent.

The Bankruptcy Court confirmed the debtors' Fourth Amended Joint Chapter 11 Plan on September 5, 2025, and the Plan's Effective Date occurred on September 22, 2025 at 12:01am Eastern Time. As part of the Plan, Olive Advisors, LLC became Plan Administrator to the "Wind-Down Debtors," and a "Solar Mosaic Litigation Trust" was established. The same day the Plan took effect, Solar Servicing LLC — a newly formed affiliate of Forbright Bank (per Mosaic's own privacy policy, which now describes "Forbright, Inc. and its subsidiaries and affiliates, including Forbright Bank ... and Solar Servicing LLC") — completed its acquisition of Mosaic's loan-servicing operations. Solar Servicing LLC is a separate company (BBB lists it as started August 1, 2025, with its headquarters in Chevy Chase, Maryland) and is not evaluated on this page beyond its role as Mosaic's successor servicer.

Complaint record: USAComplaints, CFPB, BBB, and Trustpilot, reported separately

Several sources track complaints and reviews about Mosaic, and this page reports each separately rather than blending them into one figure:

  • USAComplaints: a search of this site's approved posts for "Mosaic" turned up 36 posts, but none of them are about this solar/home-improvement lender — they concern unrelated businesses that happen to share the name (a payroll/staffing company, day spas, a photography studio, an ERP vendor, security services, tile products, and others). As of September 28, 2026, 0 complaints on USAComplaints have been matched to Solar Mosaic, LLC.
  • CFPB Consumer Complaint Database (company "Solar Mosaic LLC", checked September 28, 2026): 994 complaints filed May 23, 2019 through September 10, 2026, with 391 in the last 12 months. By product: payday/title/personal/advance loan (combining label variants), 529; debt collection, 194; credit reporting or other personal consumer reports (combining variants), 163; mortgage, 92. Top issues: charged fees or interest you didn't expect, 125; incorrect information on your report, 124; problem with additional add-on products or services, 104; attempts to collect debt not owed, 91; getting the loan, 91; problem when making payments, 85; problem with the payoff process at the end of the loan, 47. Top states: California (228), Texas (152), Florida (141), New York (52), Georgia (45). Mosaic closed 983 of these complaints with an explanation and 2 with monetary relief; 710 were answered timely and 284 were not. The CFPB does not verify the facts alleged in complaints.
  • BBB: Solar Mosaic LLC is not BBB accredited and carries a rating of Not Rated (BBB's profile has historically shown "No Rating due to a pending government action," referring to the Tennessee/Kentucky case above). BBB shows 477 complaints in the last three years (59 closed in the last 12 months), and a customer-review score of 1.43 out of 5 from 100 reviews. Complaint themes visible on the profile include UCC/lien filings not released after a system failed or a loan was paid off, confusion over who is responsible for the loan since the bankruptcy and servicing change, and billing disputes with the new servicer; Mosaic's Plan Administrator answers many of these with a form response explaining the bankruptcy status and referring consumers to the Proof of Claim process (whose deadline has passed).
  • Trustpilot: an unclaimed profile for joinmosaic.com showing a TrustScore of 2.1 out of 5 from 9 reviews. One review from June 2025 describes a home sale in which the reviewer says Mosaic refused to process a loan assumption shortly after the Chapter 11 filing, forcing an out-of-pocket payoff to close — a first-person allegation, not independently verified. Trustpilot notes that the company does not invite reviews and that the reviews may not be representative.

Because each source covers a different population, time window, and methodology, none of these figures is added to or averaged with any other.

Bankruptcy case and other lawsuits naming Mosaic

The central legal proceeding involving Mosaic is its Chapter 11 bankruptcy, described above and in the court_cases entries on this page (Case No. 25-90156, Bankr. S.D. Tex.), and the resulting Tennessee/Kentucky consent judgment (E.D. Tenn., No. 3:23-cv-00046). Two other federal lawsuits illustrate how individual disputes involving Mosaic-financed solar purchases have been handled since the bankruptcy filing, though neither is a class action and both are allegations only, not court findings:

  • Somar v. Solar Mosaic, LLC, NYS Essential Power Inc., and Matthew Dratel (S.D.N.Y., No. 1:24-cv-08637), filed November 13, 2024, is a Truth in Lending Act suit naming Mosaic alongside the installer (NYS Essential Power Inc.) and an individual. Mosaic filed a suggestion of bankruptcy on June 10, 2025, and on June 11, 2025, Judge Valerie E. Caproni ordered: "This case is hereby STAYED as against Defendant Solar Mosaic LLC. ... If the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas lifts the automatic stay, Defendant Solar Mosaic LLC must promptly inform the Court." The case continues against the non-Mosaic defendants; an order to show cause regarding a possible default judgment against the individual defendant was pending as of June 30, 2025.
  • Ronquillo v. Solar Mosaic, LLC (D. Colo., No. 1:24-cv-03526) was a state-court breach-of-contract case that Mosaic removed to federal court on December 20, 2024 (diversity jurisdiction) and that was terminated on January 29, 2025. Mosaic's corporate disclosure statement in that case identifies Mosaic Sustainable Finance Corporation as its corporate parent. The substance and outcome of that dispute were not independently verified beyond the docket's public entries.
  • Commonwealth of Virginia v. Waller, et al. (E.D. Va., No. 3:26-cv-00039), filed January 16, 2026 by the Virginia Attorney General, names Solar Mosaic LLC among several defendants, including other solar lenders. The public docket shows motions to dismiss the amended complaint and court-supervised settlement conferences with Mosaic in June 2026; the complaint's allegations were not reviewed for this page and no final outcome was found as of September 28, 2026.

Is Solar Mosaic Legitimate?

Solar Mosaic, LLC is a real, licensed lender that has operated since 2011, registered with the Nationwide Multistate Licensing System and licensed as a lender by California's Department of Financial Protection and Innovation (BBB-listed license #6054631). It is currently in a Chapter 11 wind-down: the Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas confirmed its reorganization plan on September 5, 2025, the plan took effect September 22, 2025, Olive Advisors, LLC now administers the estate as Plan Administrator, and Solar Servicing LLC (a Forbright Bank affiliate) has taken over day-to-day loan servicing. Separately, Mosaic settled a Tennessee/Kentucky Attorneys General lawsuit in September 2026 by agreeing — without admitting wrongdoing — to cancel at least $303,460.75 in debt owed by a defined group of Solar Titan USA customers, release UCC fixture filings tied to that debt, and request deletion of the related items from credit reports. This page assigns Mosaic no rating, score, or "scam" label of its own; readers can weigh the bankruptcy status, the consent judgment, and the BBB/CFPB/Trustpilot complaint record above for themselves. Most affected borrowers can contact Solar Servicing at (866) 493-6367 or [email protected]; borrowers assigned to an alternative servicer should use the contact information in their Servicing Transition letter.

Tennessee and Kentucky sued Solar Titan USA's operators and named Solar Mosaic LLC as a co-defendant, alleging Mosaic's sale and servicing of loans financing Solar Titan's solar-equipment sales violated federal and state consumer-protection, truth-in-lending, and home-solicitation-sales laws. On September 16, 2026, following Bankruptcy Court approval (Aug 7, 2026) under Rule 9019, the district court entered a Consent Judgment in which Mosaic — without admitting wrongdoing — was ordered to cease collection of a minimum of $303,460.75 in Covered Consumer Debt — debt owed by consumers who financed purchases from Ideal Horizon Benefits, LLC d/b/a Solar Titan USA, held and owned by Mosaic as of March 6, 2026, excluding debt transferred to a third party before that date, request deletion of that debt from credit reports, release related UCC fixture filings within 60 business days, refund, within 30 days of receipt, payments received on Covered Consumer Debt after the Order's Effective Date, and notify affected consumers. The case remains open against the non-Mosaic defendants.

Frequently Asked Questions

Did Solar Mosaic (Mosaic) go out of business?

Solar Mosaic, LLC and its corporate parent, Mosaic Sustainable Finance Corporation, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on June 6, 2025 in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas (Case No. 25-90156). The court confirmed a reorganization plan on September 5, 2025, which took effect September 22, 2025. Under the plan, Mosaic is in wind-down under a Plan Administrator (Olive Advisors, LLC), and its loan-servicing operations were acquired by Solar Servicing LLC, an affiliate of Forbright Bank, the same day the plan took effect.

Who services my Mosaic solar loan now?

Solar Servicing LLC, an affiliate of Forbright Bank, acquired Mosaic's loan-servicing operations on September 22, 2025 and says it services loans for most affected customers; some Mosaic loans are serviced by alternative providers, and borrowers who received a Servicing Transition letter should use the contact information in that letter. Mosaic's old website, joinmosaic.com, now shows Solar Servicing's branding and a borrower login. Otherwise, contact Solar Servicing at (866) 493-6367 (Mon-Thu 8am-10pm ET, Fri 8am-9pm ET, Sat 8am-1pm ET, closed Sunday) or [email protected].

How do I make a payment on my Mosaic loan?

Log in at the borrower payment portal linked from joinmosaic.com (solarservicing.myaccountinfo.com), or mail a payment to Solar Servicing, P.O. Box 78080, Phoenix, AZ 85062-8080 (overnight deliveries: 4343 N. Scottsdale Rd., Ste. 270, Scottsdale, AZ 85251). For payment questions, call (866) 493-6367 or email [email protected].

I'm selling my home and there's a lien/UCC filing from Mosaic — what do I do?

Mosaic (and now Solar Servicing) can record a UCC fixture filing against the solar equipment itself, not the home's title, to secure the loan. Several BBB complaints describe filings that weren't released promptly after a loan was paid off; Solar Servicing's FAQ describes the UCC-1 as securing the solar equipment, not the real property. If you are selling your home, contact Solar Servicing at (866) 493-6367, option 3, or [email protected], well before closing, and specifically request a UCC-3 termination/release statement for the recording office where the original filing was made. Keep written confirmation once it's filed.

Can I still file a claim in Mosaic's bankruptcy case?

The deadline to file a Proof of Claim in Mosaic's bankruptcy (Case No. 25-90156, Bankr. S.D. Tex.) was October 16, 2025 at 4:00pm Central Time, and that deadline has passed. The Plan Administrator, Olive Advisors, LLC, has stated in responses to BBB complaints that it "does not have authority to rescind, cancel, or otherwise modify your loan obligations" and has directed consumers with questions to consult an attorney or legal aid organization.

What is the Tennessee/Kentucky settlement, and does it cancel my debt?

On September 16, 2026, the federal court in Tennessee entered a consent judgment requiring Mosaic, without any admission of liability or wrongdoing, to cease collection of a minimum of $303,460.75 in Covered Consumer Debt. That term covers debt owed by consumers who financed purchases from Ideal Horizon Benefits, LLC d/b/a Solar Titan USA that was held and owned by Mosaic as of March 6, 2026; it excludes debt transferred to a third party before that date. Mosaic must also request deletion of reported Covered Consumer Debt and terminate qualifying UCC fixture filings. The judgment does not provide relief to all Mosaic borrowers — only to that defined group of Solar Titan USA customers.

What's the difference between Mosaic and my solar installer?

Mosaic provided financing for purchases arranged through solar or home-improvement dealers and installers; it was not the installer. Solar Servicing LLC is a separate loan-servicing company that acquired Mosaic's loan-servicing operations. Questions about equipment, installation and warranties generally go to the company that sold or installed the system under your contract, and questions about the loan go to your servicer. Solar Servicing says borrowers must continue paying according to their loan agreements unless notified otherwise.

Where do I file a complaint about a Mosaic loan?

You can file a complaint with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau at consumerfinance.gov/complaint (the CFPB accepts complaints about financial products even if a company is winding down), with the Better Business Bureau, or with your state's financial regulator — for example, California's Department of Financial Protection and Innovation, which licenses Mosaic. For servicing or payment disputes, first contact Solar Servicing directly at (866) 493-6367 or [email protected].
