Legal entity. SocialCatfish, LLC, named as the contracting company in its Terms of Service. Addresses. 25096 Jefferson Ave. STE A-4, Murrieta, CA 92562 (Contact page); 39252 Winchester Rd, STE 107 #228, Murrieta, CA 92563 (copyright notice address in the Terms). Phone. (844) 422-8347. Email. [email protected] (Terms). Website. socialcatfish.com. Governing law. The Governing Law section of the Terms says they are governed by California law and that actions must be brought in the federal or state courts having jurisdiction over Riverside County, California.

Disputes. The Arbitration And Class Action Waiver section says that, "EXCEPT WHERE PROHIBITED BY LAW", claims "SHALL BE RESOLVED BY THE FINAL AND BINDING ARBITRATION PROCEDURES" set out in the Terms, administered by the American Arbitration Association under its rules, including its Supplementary Procedures for Consumer-Related Disputes. Claims must be brought "SOLELY IN THE PARTY'S INDIVIDUAL CAPACITY", not as a class action. Before arbitration, a party must first send written notice describing the nature and basis of the claim and the total amount claimed; the other side has 30 days to give a written response, and arbitration can begin if a further 30-day period of good-faith negotiation fails. A party that then chooses arbitration must give the other side written notice of it by a recognized overnight carrier or by registered or certified mail. The Governing Law section adds that any claim "must be brought within one year after such claim or cause of action arose". The opening notice of the Terms says arbitration is mandatory "UNLESS SPECIFIED BELOW OR IF YOU OPT-OUT", but the arbitration section itself sets out no opt-out procedure or deadline.

Privacy policy. The privacy policy, effective October 9, 2026, describes requests to delete or correct personal information and says visitors can opt out of targeted advertising through its Your Privacy Choices page or with a Global Privacy Control signal in the browser.

Social Catfish: how to cancel, get a refund or remove your information

Cancel. The Cancellation Policy in the Terms of Service lists three routes: call (844) 422-8347 (the Terms give phone hours of Monday to Friday, 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM Pacific time, while the Contact page says 9 AM to 5 PM Pacific time daily); email the company through the link in that policy; or log in to the dashboard, open Account Plan Details and click the small trash can next to the plan, then wait for the on-screen confirmation.

More detailShow less

The FAQ describes the same dashboard step as Manage Account, then Plan Info, then Cancel. The Terms say "cancellations are always FREE" and that a confirmation email always follows a cancellation request. Keep that email as proof; if none arrives, contact the company again before the next billing date. Canceling stops searches and future charges but keeps the account; the FAQ treats deleting the account as a separate step.

Know what you signed up for. The Terms describe monthly plans billed every month and quarterly plans billed every 3 months at a discount. The FAQ gives two different trial descriptions. One answer says members are billed $6.48 or $6.87, depending on the search plan, for the first 3 days and then $28.94 or $28.97 every 30 days. Another says the trial lasts 5 days at $5.73 for unlimited social searches, then $27.48 a month, or $5.99 for unlimited image searches, then $26.99 a month.

More detailShow less

A third answer says the monthly membership that follows the trial is "billed 30+ days at a time". Check the price and trial length on the checkout page and in the order confirmation email. The Terms say the card statement descriptor "will refer to STRIPE, PAYPAL", so the charge may not show the Social Catfish name.

Refunds. The Refund Policy in the Terms says: "We are unable to issue refunds once a search has been conducted or data has been accessed, as generating reports incurs immediate costs." The FAQ answer to "What is your refund policy?" says that a customer who is not satisfied can call (844) 422-8347 and speak with a representative.

More detailShow less

For a billing error, the Terms say to call customer service at the same number "immediately"; for a double charge, the FAQ says to email or call so the company can "look into reversing the charge". Make the request in writing as well as by phone and keep a copy with the date.

If the company does not fix it. For a credit card charge, file a billing-error dispute with the card issuer. The FTC says to send the letter "so that it reaches the issuer within 60 days after the first bill with the error was sent to you", using the address for billing inquiries, not the payment address.

Debit card and PayPal disputes follow their own rules and deadlines, so contact the bank or PayPal promptly. You can also file a complaint with the California Attorney General at oag.ca.gov, since the company is based in California, or with the attorney general of your own state; file a complaint with BBB, where the company has a profile; and report the problem to the FTC at ReportFraud.ftc.gov.

Remove your information. The General Opt-Out Requests section of the Terms says to use the Opt-Out form at socialcatfish.com/opt-out/, verify your email address and "submit all URLs with your information", one URL at a time. It warns that "only pages that contain your information will be removed" and that removing a URL "does not remove your information through public record or any other sites", and that a request made by a third party without written authorization may be denied. Because Social Catfish is a registered California data broker, California residents can also use the state's free Delete Request and Opt-out Platform (DROP) at privacy.ca.gov/drop/ to send one deletion request to all registered data brokers; since August 1, 2026, brokers must check DROP for new requests at least every 45 days. The same agency, the California Privacy Protection Agency (CalPrivacy), takes complaints under the California Consumer Privacy Act. Residents of other states with privacy laws can use the "All Privacy Requests" link in the footer of socialcatfish.com, which the company lists separately from its California (CPRA) request link.

What it sells. The Terms say users accept all information "AS IS", and the footer cautions that it "may not be 100% accurate, complete, or up to date".

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I cancel a Social Catfish membership?

The Terms of Service list three ways: call (844) 422-8347 (the Terms give Monday to Friday, 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM Pacific; the Contact page says 9 AM to 5 PM Pacific daily), email the company through the link in the Cancellation Policy, or open your dashboard, go to Account Plan Details and click the trash can beside the plan. The FAQ describes the dashboard path as Manage Account, then Plan Info, then Cancel. The Terms say cancellation is always free and that a confirmation email follows; keep it as proof. Canceling stops future charges but does not delete the account.

Does Social Catfish give refunds?

The Terms say: "We are unable to issue refunds once a search has been conducted or data has been accessed, as generating reports incurs immediate costs." The FAQ says that if you are not satisfied you can call (844) 422-8347 and speak to a representative, and that for a double charge the company will look into reversing it. Ask by phone and in writing and keep a record. If the company declines and you believe the charge is a billing error, send a credit card dispute so that it reaches the card issuer within 60 days after the first statement showing the charge was sent to you.

Why was I charged by Social Catfish after a trial?

The low trial price is followed by an automatic monthly membership. One FAQ answer says members pay $6.48 or $6.87, depending on the search plan, for the first 3 days and are then billed $28.94 or $28.97 every 30 days; another says the trial lasts 5 days, at $5.73 or $5.99, before a monthly charge of $27.48 or $26.99. The membership keeps renewing until it is canceled. The Terms say the card statement descriptor refers to "STRIPE, PAYPAL", so the charge may not show the Social Catfish name. For a charge you do not recognize or a double charge, call (844) 422-8347 or email the company.

What is the Social Catfish phone number?

(844) 422-8347, listed in the Terms of Service for cancellations, billing errors and card questions. The Cancellation Policy gives phone hours of Monday to Friday, 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM Pacific; the Contact page says representatives are available 9 AM to 5 PM Pacific daily. The email address in the Terms is [email protected]. The company's pages give two Murrieta, California addresses: 25096 Jefferson Ave. STE A-4, Murrieta, CA 92562 on the Contact page, and 39252 Winchester Rd, STE 107 #228, Murrieta, CA 92563 in the copyright notice section of the Terms.

How do I remove my information from Social Catfish?

Use the Opt-Out form at socialcatfish.com/opt-out/. The Terms say you must verify your email address and submit each URL that shows your information, that only those pages are removed, and that removal does not take your information out of public records or other sites. Privacy requests can also be sent to [email protected], the contact the company lists in the California Data Broker Registry. California residents can use the state's free DROP platform at privacy.ca.gov/drop/ to send one deletion request to every registered data broker, including Social Catfish. Residents of other states with privacy laws can use the "All Privacy Requests" link in the site footer.

Is Social Catfish a consumer reporting agency?

The company says it is not. Its Terms state that Social Catfish "is not a credit reporting agency" for purposes of the Fair Credit Reporting Act and prohibit using its information to decide eligibility for credit, insurance, employment, education or housing. The Terms also say its data comes from third-party sources and may be inaccurate or out of date.

What do the Terms say about disputes with Social Catfish?

The Terms of Service require claims, except where prohibited by law, to go to final and binding individual arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association under its consumer rules, and they include a class action waiver. Before arbitration, you must send written notice describing the claim, its basis and the total amount; the company has 30 days to respond, followed by a 30-day negotiation period. Notice that you are starting arbitration must then go by a recognized overnight carrier or by registered or certified mail. The Terms also set a one-year deadline for bringing a claim and choose California law and the courts for Riverside County, California. The arbitration section refers to small claims court only in a side remark about choosing an arbitration administrator and does not state plainly whether a small claims case is allowed; it sets out no opt-out procedure. Whether these clauses can be enforced in your situation is a question for a consumer lawyer.

Where do I report online dating fraud?

For suspected romance fraud, the FTC says to stop communicating with the person, report it at ReportFraud.ftc.gov, tell the dating site or app where you met the person, and, if you sent money, to "contact the company or your bank right away" and ask for a refund. The FTC lists wire transfers, gift cards, money-transfer apps and cryptocurrency as common payment methods fraudsters ask for. Social Catfish is a private company, not a law enforcement agency or regulator.

Who operates Social Catfish?

SocialCatfish, LLC of Murrieta, California is named in the Terms of Service as the company behind socialcatfish.com. The company's About page says two co-founders started it in 2012-2013 as a simple reverse-lookup tool. SocialCatfish, LLC is also registered as a data broker in California.
