Rosland Capital complaints: what to do now that the company is in bankruptcy

Checked on 2026-10-18. Rosland Capital LLC filed a Chapter 11 case on July 2, 2026 (U.S. Bankruptcy Court, Central District of California, No. 2:26-bk-16650-BB). Its website, roslandcapital.com, now shows a notice dated 10/05/2026 headed "American Hartford Gold Acquires Assets of Rosland Capital" instead of a store, so we could not read any Rosland ordering, refund or cancellation page and do not quote one here.

  • Paid for metals that never arrived, or sold metals back and were not paid. Claims against Rosland Capital LLC are dealt with in the bankruptcy case. The court's notice of July 7, 2026 says the proof-of-claim deadline notice "will be sent at a later time"; we did not find a proof-of-claim deadline in the documents we could read, so check the case docket or the mail you receive from the court. The same notice set 10/6/26 as the deadline for filing a complaint to have a claim excepted from discharge under § 523(c); as of 2026-10-18 that date has passed. The same notice says the clerk's office staff "cannot give legal advice" and suggests consulting an attorney. Keep order confirmations, proof of payment, shipping records and call notes.
  • Questions about a past Rosland purchase or about the transfer of your information. American Hartford Gold's notice, posted on roslandcapital.com, says it "acquired the assets of Rosland Capital LLC, including its customer records" in a sale approved by the bankruptcy court, and gives a "dedicated service line" at 866-767-3916. The notice does not say whether American Hartford Gold took on Rosland's open orders or debts. The form of purchase agreement attached to the debtor's August 19, 2026 sale motion says the buyer "assumes no liability, obligation, debt, commitment, or claim of the Debtor"; we did not read the final agreement or sale order.
  • Deleting your data. The notice says requests received by November 4, 2026 will lead to deletion "except where we are required or permitted by law to retain it", through the form at americanhartfordgold.com/rosland-optout, and says it will not use your information for marketing or any new purpose before November 4, 2026; if it does not hear from you by that date it "will retain and use your information as described in our Privacy Policy". The notice also gives a dedicated service line, 866-767-3916. The form, as displayed on 2026-10-18, says it "should only be used by Rosland Gold customers that have received notification" and, at the request-type selector, "These options are available for California residents only. Data Deletion"; readers outside California can ask about deletion through the 866-767-3916 line named in the notice.
  • Metals held for a self-directed IRA. The debtor's restructuring officer described IRA purchases as running through custodians named Equity Trust Company and GoldStar Trust, with metals held at Delaware Depository Services Company. Contact your own IRA custodian and the depository for your account status; this page cannot tell you what is held for you.
  • Reports to authorities. The FTC's ReportFraud site (reportfraud.ftc.gov) takes consumer reports about fraud and bad business practices. The California Attorney General's page says to "check the complaint referral table to find the government agency that regulates that business". The SEC's tip page (sec.gov/submit-tip-or-complaint) covers possible securities-law violations, which is relevant to metals sold for IRAs. BBB also accepts complaints through its profile.

Regulator actions: Washington consent order and investigations the debtor described

Washington Department of Financial Institutions, Securities Division, Order No. S-20-3045-22-CO01 (Consent Order). Signed by the respondents on July 26, 2022 and entered August 4, 2022 against Rosland Capital LLC and Marin Aleksov under the Commodity Transactions Act (RCW 21.30). The order states the respondents "neither admit nor deny" its findings. The findings say that from December 2017 through at least April 2021 Rosland sold more than $1.6 million of gold, silver and platinum coins to Washington self-directed IRA customers with delivery more than 28 days after payment to at least 14 Washington customers, shipped 33 to 168 days after purchase, and that neither respondent was registered as a commodities broker-dealer or sales representative with the Department. The Department concluded the respondents violated RCW 21.30.020 and RCW 21.30.050. The respondents agreed to cease and desist from offering or selling commodities in violation of those sections and to pay a civil penalty of $20,000, jointly and severally.

Investigations described by the debtor. In a declaration filed July 2, 2026, the debtor's chief restructuring officer wrote that the New York Attorney General's office "has begun an investigation" of product sales to New York customers through 2023, which he had been told was "relatively inactive", and that the SEC "is also investigating the Debtor in connection with its products for metal-backed IRAs" and was scheduling interviews of personnel. These are the debtor's statements in a court filing; we did not find an agency publication confirming either investigation or any outcome in the sources checked on 2026-10-18.

Who operated Rosland Capital

Rosland Capital LLC is a Delaware limited liability company. The Washington consent order says it was "formed on June 19, 2008"; the debtor's 2026 declaration says "on or about June 19, 2008". BBB's page data (read 2026-10-18) gives a business start of 2008-06-19 and an incorporation date of 2009-05-13. The petition lists its principal place of business as 11766 Wilshire Blvd, Suite 1200, Los Angeles; the declaration adds an office in Henderson, Nevada.

Ownership. The 2026 declaration says Marin Aleksov founded the company, was chief executive officer and managing member, and owned 100 percent. The 2022 Washington order says he owned 55 percent and his brother Julian Aleksov, a director living outside the United States, owned 45 percent. BBB lists Marin Aleksov as CEO/Owner.

What it sold. Per the declaration: exclusive specialty coins licensed from brands, exclusive Lady Liberty proof coins, numismatic coins, bullion coins, and bars, sold to retail consumers through sales representatives after customers responded to advertising on Fox News, Newsmax, Google, Bing and other channels; the declaration also says actor William Devane was the spokesman from 2012. It also sold metals for self-directed IRAs. It says that from about 2013 to May 2026 an affiliate, Rosland Hong Kong (owned 50 percent by Marin Aleksov and 50 percent by SCAN Invest, Ltd.), sourced the products, and that fulfillment orders went to U.S. companies related to the mint MKS PAMP or to Numismatics Unlimited Inc.

Why it stopped. The declaration reports revenue of about $151.2 million in 2021 falling to about $97.8 million in 2025, net losses of about $13.7 million in 2025 and $3.2 million before the filing in 2026, and attributes the distress to a backlog of orders during a steep rise in gold prices, with months between payment and purchase of the metal, and to commissions paid when funds were received. It says employees were terminated as of June 19, 2026 except two consultants, the company holds no metals inventory, and its remaining principal assets were its customer database, trade names and domains. These are the debtor's statements, not court findings.

Sale of the brand. American Hartford Gold, LLC states on roslandcapital.com that it acquired "the assets of Rosland Capital LLC", including customer records, in a sale approved by the bankruptcy court. That is an asset purchase as described in the notice; it is not a statement that American Hartford Gold took over the company or its obligations.

Complaint record: BBB, Trustpilot and this site's archive

BBB (profile for Rosland Capital LLC, Los Angeles), as displayed on 2026-10-18: not BBB accredited; BBB Rating F, with the reasons shown as failure to respond to 80 complaints and 3 complaints not resolved; "241 total complaints in the last 3 years" and "133 complaints filed in the last 12 months"; customer reviews "4.19 /5 stars, Average of 266 Customer Reviews". The profile carries a bankruptcy alert (Chapter 11, case 2:26-bk-16650) and an investigation notice saying BBB opened an investigation because of the number of inquiries received, that Rosland had been unresponsive to BBB, and that consumers allege orders were not delivered to the depository and that they could not get responses about orders or refunds; BBB says it contacted the company on July 1, 2026 and received no response. The high review average and the F rating are both shown by BBB and are not reconciled here.

Trustpilot, as displayed on 2026-10-18: 3.1 from 336 reviews; claimed profile (July 2021); 45 reviews in the last 12 months; the page says the company "hasn't invited customers recently, so reviews may not be representative" and shows replies to 2 percent of negative reviews; Trustpilot states it does not fact-check reviews. These platform figures are shown separately and are not added to each other or to this site's count.

This site's archive. 4 approved complaints from 2009 to 2013 name Rosland Capital (also spelled Rosland Capitol and Rosaland Capital) as the subject. They describe a gold purchase not delivered and a refund policy limited to counterfeit coins (2009), silver coins graded lower than described and overpriced (2011), a trade of coins at a price the writer calls inflated (2012), and low-grade coins bought at what the writer says was double the value (2013). They are unverified individual accounts, all at least 13 years old, and predate the 2026 bankruptcy. By keyword match, 2 mention coin grade or condition, 3 mention price or markup, and 1 mentions non-delivery or an unreturned call.

Court record: the Chapter 11 case, the sale, and a published arbitration ruling

In re Rosland Capital LLC, No. 2:26-bk-16650-BB (Bankr. C.D. Cal.), Chapter 11, filed July 2, 2026 (CourtListener lists Judge Sheri Bluebond). The July 2 declaration of Michael Hogan, a partner at Armanino Advisory LLC who was to serve as chief restructuring officer, says the company retained Armanino on or about June 18, 2026 to liquidate its business and that a liquidating Chapter 11 would let a liquidating trust manage remaining assets and any litigation recoveries. As of the filing date it reports a deferred-revenue balance of about $49 million (funds received for products not yet shipped), a buy-back list of about $11.8 million (metals customers sold back and were not yet paid for), about 484 customers on the first list and about 133 on the second, about 35,000 customers and more than 65,000 prospects in its records, and about 470 voicemails, emails or demands received through its compliance department by June 27, 2026. He wrote that, to his understanding, only one customer had filed a lawsuit to recover money. It also states that customers "contend" they paid for products that records "indicate were not delivered". These are statements by the debtor's officer, not findings.

Procedure. The notice of the case (July 7, 2026) set a telephonic meeting of creditors for August 7, 2026 and said the proof-of-claim deadline notice would be sent later; it also set 10/6/26 as the deadline for complaints seeking to have a claim excepted from discharge under § 523(c), a date that has passed as of 2026-10-18. The U.S. Trustee filed a preliminary objection (July 6, 2026) to the debtor's motion to redact customer names from public filings; we did not read the ruling. CourtListener's party list for the case includes an official committee of unsecured creditors and the United States Trustee (Los Angeles), the docket shows amended schedules and a statement of financial affairs (September 29, 2026) and a chapter 11 monthly operating report (September 22, 2026), whose contents we did not read (no copies available to us), and its docket (last updated Oct. 15, 2026) lists entries through no. 234.

Sale of customer information and brand. On August 19, 2026 the debtor moved to appoint a consumer privacy ombudsman and to sell its "Customer Information Assets" (customer database, trade names, trademarks and domain names) free and clear of liens and claims; the motion set a bid deadline of September 14, 2026, and the form agreement attached showed a base price of $1,100,000 plus earn-out payments and a statement that the buyer assumes none of the debtor's liabilities. Docket entry 207 (October 1, 2026) is titled "Sale of Property under Section 363(b)" and entry 202 (September 29, 2026) is an "Ombudsman Report"; neither document was available to us. American Hartford Gold's October 5, 2026 notice says the sale was approved. We did not verify the final price or terms.

Adversary proceeding. A complaint in Proaps v. Rosland Capital LLC, No. 2:26-ap-01281, was filed in the same court on October 1, 2026 and a summons issued October 5; the docket entries we could read do not describe its claims.

Dennison v. Rosland Capital LLC (Cal. Ct. App., Second District, Division Eight, No. B295350). In a published opinion filed April 1, 2020 (47 Cal.App.5th 204), the court affirmed a Los Angeles Superior Court order denying Rosland's petition to compel arbitration. The plaintiff, who was 82 when he bought, alleged that a Rosland sales agent misled him into four purchases between 2016 and 2017 (about $199,000 in total) and that the coins were worth significantly less than he paid. The court held the Customer Agreement's arbitration clause unconscionable, describing a two-page form "printed in extremely small font" that was "impossible to read without a magnifying glass", and declined to sever it. The ruling decided only whether arbitration could be compelled; we did not find the outcome of the underlying claims. Rosland's position on the appeal was that the claims belonged in arbitration.

We did not run a search of all state courts for other suits against the company, and allegations in any complaint are not findings.

Is Rosland Capital Legitimate?

As of 2026-10-18 the documents we read show: Rosland Capital LLC is a Delaware company formed in 2008 that sold precious metals to U.S. consumers for about 18 years; it signed a 2022 Washington consent order (no admission, $20,000 penalty, findings about delivery delays and lack of commodities registration); BBB shows an F rating, no accreditation and a bankruptcy alert; Trustpilot shows 3.1 from 336 reviews; and the company filed for Chapter 11 on July 2, 2026, with a declaration describing a wind-down and stating that it had no metals inventory. Its brand, domains and customer records were sold to American Hartford Gold, whose notice appears on roslandcapital.com.

We did not search the U.S. trademark register or state business registries for this profile, did not search CFTC, FTC or CFPB enforcement records for this profile, and cannot say what any particular customer is owed. Claims run through the bankruptcy case. This page sets out sources and does not rate the company.

Frequently Asked Questions

Did Rosland Capital file for bankruptcy?

Rosland Capital LLC filed a voluntary Chapter 11 petition on July 2, 2026 in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Central District of California, case No. 2:26-bk-16650-BB. The filing lists 11766 Wilshire Blvd, Suite 1200, Los Angeles as its address, and BBB shows a bankruptcy alert on its profile (read 2026-10-18).

Is Rosland Capital still selling gold and silver?

The debtor's chief restructuring officer wrote in a July 2, 2026 declaration that the company could no longer continue operating in the ordinary course and that a wind-down followed; the company's attached written consent resolved to “immediately cease all ordinary course business operations”. The declaration also says the company terminated employees as of June 19, 2026 except two consultants, and held no metals inventory. Its website now displays an American Hartford Gold notice dated 10/05/2026 and no product pages (read 2026-10-18).

Who bought Rosland Capital, and what did it buy?

American Hartford Gold, LLC says on roslandcapital.com that it acquired "the assets of Rosland Capital LLC", including customer records, in a sale approved by the bankruptcy court. The debtor's sale motion described the assets as the customer database, trade names, trademarks and domain names. The notice does not say whether American Hartford Gold took on Rosland's orders or debts; the form agreement in the motion said the buyer assumes none of the debtor's liabilities.

How can I make a claim for gold or silver I paid Rosland Capital for?

Claims are handled in the bankruptcy case, No. 2:26-bk-16650-BB. The court's July 7, 2026 notice said the proof-of-claim deadline notice would be sent later, and we did not find a deadline in the documents we could read. The notice also says clerk's office staff cannot give legal advice and suggests consulting an attorney. The court's PACER docket and the notices mailed to creditors are the sources for the deadline.

What number can Rosland Capital customers call now?

The notice on roslandcapital.com gives American Hartford Gold's "dedicated service line" for Rosland clients as 866-767-3916. BBB separately lists (844) 200-6663 for Rosland Capital LLC; we did not confirm that number on a Rosland page (read 2026-10-18).

What does BBB show for Rosland Capital?

As displayed on 2026-10-18, BBB's profile for Rosland Capital LLC shows an F rating, no accreditation, 241 complaints in the last 3 years (133 in the last 12 months) and 4.19 out of 5 stars from 266 customer reviews, plus a bankruptcy alert and an investigation notice. BBB says it contacted the company on July 1, 2026 and received no response.

What happens to metals bought through Rosland Capital for an IRA?

The debtor's chief restructuring officer described IRA purchases as made through custodians named Equity Trust Company and GoldStar Trust, with the metals held in individual accounts at Delaware Depository Services Company. That describes the intended process, not what any account holds today; the account holder should ask the custodian and depository directly.

Where can I report a problem with Rosland Capital?

Options include BBB's complaint form on the company's profile, the FTC's ReportFraud site, the SEC's tip and complaint page for possible securities-law issues involving metals sold for IRAs, and the attorney general in your state (California's page points to a complaint referral table). Claims for money owed go through the bankruptcy case.
