Roblox refunds, unauthorized charges, parental controls and reporting: what the company's own pages say (checked October 16, 2026)
The Roblox Help Center articles, Terms of Use, BBB profile and Trustpilot page were opened on October 16, 2026. The points below are taken from Roblox's own pages and are not a prediction of how any request will be decided.
Contacting Roblox. The Contact Us article says the Customer Support team 'assists with Billing and Account issue related questions' and asks for the Roblox username, the device, a help category and, for billing, the payment type, the dates and amounts and any error message. The support form is at roblox.com/support.
Unauthorized charges. The 'Unauthorized Charges & Refund Requests' article says unauthorized charges 'may result in the permanent closure of the associated user account(s)' and that users 'should always get permission from the payment account owner' before buying, that 'Whenever possible, we work with parents and customers directly as part of our permissive refund policy to provide a refund for unauthorized purchases', and that some payment processors 'require refunds to go through their support services'. It tells people to contact Customer Support before disputing a charge: 'Once a charge has been disputed, a refund cannot be issued due to the payment provider's dispute process.' A charge shown as 'Xsolla*Roblox' goes to Xsolla's support (help.xsolla.com); a charge shown as 'Roblox' goes to Roblox Customer Support. Purchases made through Apple/iTunes, Microsoft, PlayStation, Meta Quest, Samsung or Amazon are refunded by those providers, not by Roblox. The same article says 'Roblox accounts associated with unauthorized charges are subject to deletion.' The 'Message Received: Robux Removed from my Account' article says Robux can be removed from an account after a related charge is refunded and that accounts abusing the refund system may be moderated.
What the Terms of Use say about Robux. The Terms of Use article opened on October 16, 2026 (it carries an announced 'Effective Date: November 1, 2026') states: 'Robux Are Non-Refundable. Except as required by law, all payments for Robux are final and not refundable.' The Help Center article above describes a 'permissive refund policy' for unauthorized purchases. Both statements are live on Roblox's site and are shown here without choosing between them; a parent asking for a refund should state the facts (who authorized the purchase, dates, amounts) in the support request.
Parental controls. The Parental Controls Overview says parents can manage content by maturity, chat, spending ('Set a monthly spending limit, get spending notifications, and manage Robux transfers'), screen time and friends, either by linking a parent account or by using Parent mode on the child's device. The article adds that as children get older some settings move from the parent to the child: 'from age 13, your child manages their own screen time limits and blocking, and spending limits no longer apply.'
Age checks. The 'Understanding Age Checks on Roblox' article says an age check (facial age estimation or ID verification) is needed for chat, some collaboration features and age-restricted content, and that users who have not completed one are placed in Roblox Kids (under 9) or Roblox Select (9 and older) with chat off.
Reporting abuse or unsafe behavior. The 'How to Report Rule Violations' article says the Report Abuse feature is the best way to alert moderators and that people should report the specific chat, message, experience or content, because 'If you just report a user from their profile page, our moderators won't be able to see what they did wrong.'
Disputes with Roblox. For U.S. users the Terms of Use contain an arbitration agreement and class action waiver and require a 'Mandatory Informal Dispute Resolution ("MIDR")' process first; the Terms say that for U.S. residents, if the MIDR process has been completed but the dispute remains unresolved, it is determined through binding arbitration. To opt out of arbitration, the Terms say a user must send a written notice entitled 'Arbitration Opt-Out Notice' to Roblox Corporation, Legal Department, 3150 S. Delaware St., San Mateo, CA 94403 'by certified U.S. Mail or by Federal Express' within 30 days (of first signing up, or of notice of changes to the arbitration agreement). The Terms page also carries a banner announcing updated Terms of Use with an 'Effective Date: November 1, 2026'. Complaints can also be filed with your state attorney general and the FTC.
Who operates Roblox: Roblox Corporation, San Mateo, California
The Terms of Use name 'Roblox Corporation and designated subsidiaries' as the operator of roblox.com and the related platform, with legal notices addressed to 3150 S. Delaware St., San Mateo, CA 94403. BBB lists Roblox Corporation as a corporation in the Online Gaming category, with David Baszucki as CEO, and describes it as a user-generated gaming site where players build and play in 3D worlds. By BBB's raw page data the business started on March 23, 2004 and was incorporated on April 9, 2004; BBB's file was opened on July 27, 2009.
Roblox Corporation files periodic reports with the SEC (CIK 0001315098); its Form 10-Q for the period ended June 30, 2026 gives the San Mateo headquarters and contains the legal-proceedings note summarized below. Users and creators publish 'experiences' on the platform; the Terms of Use say that if a user has an issue with a creator's content the user must first contact the creator, with an escalation path to Roblox.
State attorney general actions and settlements involving Roblox (checked October 16, 2026)
These are state enforcement actions concerning child safety and consumer protection. Complaints filed by states are allegations; they are not findings, and each state's case is governed by its own law.
Settlements. On April 21, 2026 the Alabama Attorney General announced a $12.2 million settlement with Roblox. The Settlement Agreement (Article 5.1) says 'Roblox will make payments totaling no more than $12,200,000 to Alabama': $5,700,000 within one year of its effective date, $2,500,000 within two years, $2,500,000 within three years and $1,500,000 within four years, to fund the Attorney General's Safe School Initiative Fund. The announcement says all users must undergo age verification, that adults and users under 16 cannot chat unless identified as 'trusted friends', that communication involving minors will not be encrypted, and that Alabama receives the funds for school resource officers. The Settlement Agreement's Article 8 ('NO ADMISSION') says nothing in it is an admission of any claim or violation and that 'Roblox denies any liability or violation of law and enters into this Agreement without any admission of liability.' The same day the West Virginia Attorney General announced an $11,080,000 settlement, payable over several years, with terms including age verification before chat access, blocking chat until verification is complete, restricting adult contact with users under 16 to verified trusted friends, and funding for a West Virginia internet-safety specialist; the page does not state whether Roblox admitted or denied wrongdoing. Roblox's Form 10-Q for the period ended June 30, 2026 says the company 'has entered into settlement agreements with certain states, including Alabama, Mississippi, Nevada, South Dakota, and West Virginia as of July 30, 2026' and is in negotiations with certain other states; the list is introduced by 'including' and is dated July 30, 2026, so it is not shown here as a complete or current list. Documents for Mississippi and Nevada were not opened for this page. Settlements agreed after July 30, 2026 are not covered by that filing and were not verified from primary sources for this page.
Lawsuits by states. The same 10-Q says that 'As of July 30, 2026, states that have filed suit include Arkansas, Florida, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Texas' (a list introduced by 'include'), that Los Angeles County, California has filed a suit as well, that each action is unique to the applicable state laws and that the proceedings are in the early stages. According to the 10-Q, Texas filed its complaint on November 6, 2025 and on March 6, 2026 the Travis County District Court granted in part and denied in part Roblox's motion to dismiss, dismissing the common-nuisance claim and allowing the Deceptive Trade Practices Act claim to proceed (the petition as published by the Texas Attorney General is captioned 'In the District Court, King County, Texas'). The Florida Attorney General announced a suit on December 11, 2025, filed in the Eighth Judicial Circuit, alleging Roblox deceived parents about platform safety; the Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation's December 12, 2025 order also states that 'the Florida attorney general has commenced a criminal investigation of Roblox based on similar contentions'. That is the Panel's statement of the investigation, and no charge is described in it. The Iowa Attorney General announced that on May 13, 2026 the Polk County District Court let Iowa's consumer fraud claims proceed in part; the 10-Q says the order granted in part and denied in part Roblox's motion to dismiss and 'dismissed certain factual allegations as non-actionable'. BBB's profile also notes a Louisiana Attorney General lawsuit filed August 14, 2025 (case 188950). Primary documents for Kentucky and Louisiana could not be opened for this page (the Kentucky and Louisiana pages were blocked or did not respond on October 16, 2026).
Company statement of position and accounting. In the 10-Q Roblox says it is unable to reasonably estimate the loss or range of loss for the pending state actions, and reports accruing $34 million for the second quarter and $91 million for the six months ended June 30, 2026 for settlement agreements and discussions. The filing adds that 'Certain elements of the settlements and/or settlement proposals have not been accrued as of June 30, 2026', which it lists as commitments for public service campaigns, headcount for law enforcement liaisons, costs of implementing certain platform and policy changes and liquidated damages if certain settlement terms are deemed to be breached in the future. These figures come from the filing and are not combined here with any other number.

Court records naming Roblox: multidistrict litigation and other federal cases
MDL No. 3166. On December 12, 2025 the Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation (Document 98) centralized 'In re Roblox Corporation Child Sexual Exploitation and Assault Litigation' in the Northern District of California before Chief Judge Richard Seeborg, describing '31 actions pending in twelve districts'. The Panel wrote that plaintiffs allege that they (as minors) or their minor children were sexually exploited by child predators who targeted and groomed them through the Roblox platform and then continued contact on a second platform, and that plaintiffs 'assert substantially identical claims for fraudulent and negligent misrepresentation, negligence, failure to warn, and design defect'. It named Roblox, Discord, Snap and Meta as defendants who opposed centralization. These are plaintiffs' allegations as summarized by the Panel, not findings. The transferee case is 3:25-md-03166-RS; the court's case page lists recent filings dated October 15, 2026 (motions for leave to appear pro hac vice). On June 3, 2026 the Panel denied competing motions to transfer the Seitz action (E.D. Ky.) to MDL No. 3047 (social media) or to MDL No. 3166. Roblox's responses to the allegations were not reviewed for this page.
Gambling-related class action. Roblox's 10-Q describes Colvin v. Roblox, a putative class action filed August 1, 2023 in the Northern District of California in which the plaintiffs allege that minors used third-party virtual casinos to gamble Robux. Gentry v. Roblox (filed March 14, 2024) was consolidated with it on April 18, 2024. According to the 10-Q, on September 19, 2024 the court dismissed with prejudice the plaintiffs' fraud-based claims and claims for injunctive relief but allowed claims under California's Unfair Competition Law and for negligence and unjust enrichment to proceed; on October 30, 2024 Roblox filed an answer denying the plaintiffs' claims, and it later added cross-claims against virtual casino defendants. The filing says other claims remain pending and discovery is ongoing. The N.D. Cal. docket number for this case was not checked. Arbitration: the Terms of Use contain an individual arbitration clause and class action waiver for U.S. users, with a 30-day opt-out.
Is Roblox Legitimate?
Roblox Corporation is an identifiable operating company: the Terms of Use name it and give a San Mateo, California address, it files reports with the SEC, and BBB lists it as a corporation with its start date and CEO. As displayed on October 16, 2026, BBB shows the business as not accredited with an F rating, and Trustpilot shows an unclaimed profile with a 1.4 score and a notice that reviews may not be representative.
The record also includes state attorney general lawsuits and settlements, and a federal multidistrict litigation, about child safety; those are allegations and negotiated agreements, and the Alabama Settlement Agreement states Roblox denies liability. Roblox's own pages describe parental controls, age checks and a Report Abuse tool. Which of these matters to you depends on whether your concern is a charge, an account action or a child's safety; use the sections above for the matching route.
