Replit's Terms of Service name Replit, Inc. as the contracting company and the Privacy Policy gives a Foster City, California mailing address. Trustpilot shows 2.8 from 1,560 reviews and a claimed profile.

Two refund documents. The Terms of Service (updated August 3, 2026) allow 'full refunds for subscription payments made within 30 days of purchase,' excluding Usage-Based Billing charges. The Replit Pro Agreement page on replit.com states in its fees paragraph: 'Amounts paid are non-refundable.' The Terms also say that if you use the Pro or Enterprise Service, 'the Replit Commercial Agreement will apply and govern your use of our services.' The Pro Agreement page shows no 'last updated' date, unlike the Terms.

Arbitration and class waiver. Terms section 7 says disputes must be resolved by individual binding arbitration with National Arbitration and Mediation (NAM), conducted in writing and remotely (for example by videoconference) in San Francisco, California 'or at a location mutually agreed upon,' before a sole arbitrator, after a claim letter to [email protected] and a 60-day period. It also waives class, representative and consolidated actions. The opt-out must be sent to [email protected] within thirty days after first becoming subject to the agreement, with name, address, username, registered email and a clear opt-out statement. Section 8(c) says California law governs and, outside the arbitration clause, claims go to a court of general jurisdiction in San Francisco.

Account actions. Section 5(c) says Replit may 'suspend or terminate your account' in its sole discretion and 'will not refund fees that you have already paid' in that case; section 5(e) says Replit may modify or remove features at any time and 'will not refund any fees paid.' Section 6(b) says use is 'entirely at your own risk.' The Pro Agreement (which shows no last-updated date) says in K.1 that 'Support is only offered via web-based ticketing through Replit Support,' says in A.4.b that 'Replit has no obligation to back up, archive, or recover Customer data,' and says in C.2.c that Replit 'may also use Customer Content to develop, train, and improve its models and AI Features' with an opt-out through the settings page; these are the contract's words, not a statement about any incident. The Terms' opening notice puts the arbitration opt-out at 'WITHIN THIRTY (30) DAYS OF THE DATE YOU FIRST AGREE TO THESE TERMS', while section 7 words it as thirty days after first becoming subject to the arbitration agreement. These are the company's terms.

Publicly reported incident (July 2025). The Register reported on 2025-07-22 that Jason Lemkin, founder of SaaStr, had detailed that Replit's AI-assisted coding tool deleted a production database, ignored an instruction to freeze code and invented data. According to the same article, CEO Amjad Masad wrote on X that this was 'Unacceptable and should never be possible,' said Replit keeps backups and offers 'one-click restore for your entire project state,' said the company would refund Mr. Lemkin and conduct a postmortem, and said Replit had begun rolling out automatic separation of development and production databases. Replit complaints: cancel, refund and unexpected charges

This page was checked on 2026-10-20 against Replit's Terms of Service, Pro Agreement, Privacy Policy, pricing page and billing documentation, plus Trustpilot. Steps on this page are quoted or paraphrased from Replit's own pages. Trustpilot figures are in the complaint-record section.

  • Cancel. Terms section 4(a) says: 'You can cancel your paid subscription for any reason through your Replit account within the Account Page.' It also says the subscription 'will automatically be rebilled at the end of your subscription term at the then-currently applicable rates until you cancel.' The documentation page 'Changing your plan' says plan changes are made from Billing in account settings, upgrades take effect immediately, and downgrades are scheduled for the end of the current billing period; it also says Replit emails a reminder 7 days before a scheduled downgrade.
  • Refund. Terms section 4(c) says: 'We allow for full refunds for subscription payments made within 30 days of purchase,' that 'Usage-Based Billing (UBB) charges are non-refundable,' and that refunds 'are only available for the most recent subscription charge and do not apply to partial usage or past billing cycles.' To request one, the Terms say to contact [email protected] 'with your account details and invoice number.' The separate Pro Agreement (see the legitimacy section) says 'Amounts paid are non-refundable.' Both documents are live on replit.com.

The Terms open with this note: 'If you use our Pro or Enterprise Service, the Replit Commercial Agreement will apply and govern your use of our services'; the site footer links a 'Pro agreement' and an 'Enterprise agreement', and the Pro Agreement page describes itself as the terms for a customer who 'subscribes to or uses the Pro tier product.' We do not state which document applies to a given account.

  • Usage charges and credits. The AI billing page says Agent work in paid modes uses effort-based pricing and that 'Replit asks for confirmation before a paid action starts.' It adds that Plan Mode 'can perform billable reasoning even when it does not change code' in the paid path. The Managing Your Spend page says usage limits 'cap your spending beyond your monthly credits' and that limits and budgets apply to usage after any credit packs are used; it suggests setting limits to $0.01 to restrict usage to credits purchased in a pack.
    More detailShow less

The AI billing page describes usage alerts as notifications when spending thresholds are reached and budget limits as hard caps. The Managing Your Spend page also describes a service shutdown limit and says usage updates in near real time. The AI billing page also says some Agent capabilities use paid third-party APIs (it names Claude, ChatGPT and Nano Banana / Gemini), billed at the provider's public API rate and deducted from Replit credits. The AI billing page says usage data can take up to 30 minutes to appear on the dashboard.

  • Plan credits and downgrades. The AI billing page says Pro subscribers get 'Tiered monthly credits with rollover for two months' and the Replit Pro page says 'Unused credits roll over for two months'; the credit-pack rule on this page is separate. 'Changing your plan' says 'Your projects and data stay intact when you downgrade.

Nothing is deleted,' that switching from yearly to monthly is scheduled for the next renewal date, and that an Enterprise plan change goes through sales. The cancellation page for organizations says: 'Upon deletion of your org, all resources will be deleted (Replit Apps, published apps, Projects, etc.) and you will immediately lose access to the organization.'

  • Credit packs. The Managing Your Spend page lists packs of $100, $300 ($290), $500 ($480) and $1,000 ($950), and says packs expire six months after purchase, do not renew automatically and do not roll over. It says auto-reload can be turned on or off from Billing in Settings, and that for accounts that use top-ups, Payment receipts under Billing in Settings list one-time top-ups and auto-reload payments with each row's refund status (it does not cover every payment or subscription charges).
  • Published apps and databases. The publishing and database billing page says billing for outbound data transfer, Autoscale compute and requests, and production databases is usage-based, and that continuous payment failures 'might lead to the suspension of your published apps.'
  • Account deletion and inactivity. Terms section 5(c) says: 'you may request account deletion at https://replit.com/account by selecting “Request Account Deletion.”' The account-inactivity documentation defines an inactive account as one 'not used within a 1-year period', says Replit 'will delete Replit Apps associated with inactive free accounts,' and says accounts under a paid subscription plan 'are not subject to termination due to account inactivity.'
  • Contact. The pricing page says: 'For support, sign in to Replit and use the ? on the top right corner of the page for help.' A request to replit.com/support redirected us to the login page on 2026-10-20, so the in-product help route needs an account. Terms section 4(c) names [email protected] for refund requests; the Privacy Policy names [email protected] for privacy requests.
  • Dispute. Terms section 7 requires a letter to [email protected] describing the claim and relief sought before arbitration, with a 60-day window to resolve it. See the legitimacy section for the arbitration terms and the 30-day opt-out.
  • Outside Replit. A card issuer's dispute process for a charge is separate from Replit's own refund process.

Court dockets and regulator items

On 2026-10-20 a Justia Dockets party-name search for 'Replit' (federal courts) returned one entry: 'In re: DMCA Section 512(h) Subpoena to Replit, Inc.,' a civil miscellaneous case filed October 30, 2025 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California (case number 4:25-mc-80341). The title shows Replit as the recipient of a subpoena; who sought it and how it ended are not stated here. Justia says its dockets 'should not be considered findings of fact or liability.' A CourtListener (RECAP) case-name search for 'Replit' on 2026-10-20 showed the same matter; its docket lists filings on October 30 and 31, 2025 (a miscellaneous-matter filing with a declaration, and a 'Remark' entry) and no later entries in the RECAP copy last updated November 27, 2025.

If we confirm a consumer class action or a regulator order from a primary document, it will be added with its exact status and outcome.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I cancel a Replit subscription?

Terms section 4(a) says paid subscriptions can be cancelled for any reason through your Replit account on the Account Page, and that they rebill at the end of the term until cancelled. The 'Changing your plan' documentation says plan changes are made from Billing in account settings and that downgrades take effect at the end of the current billing period.

Can I get a refund from Replit?

Terms section 4(c) allows full refunds for subscription payments made within 30 days of purchase, but says Usage-Based Billing charges are non-refundable and that refunds apply only to the most recent subscription charge. Requests go to [email protected] with account details and the invoice number. The Pro Agreement says 'Amounts paid are non-refundable,' so the answer depends on which agreement applies to your plan.

Why do the Terms and the Pro Agreement differ on refunds?

The Terms of Service (updated August 3, 2026) allow 30-day refunds for subscription payments, while the Pro Agreement page says amounts paid are non-refundable. The Terms note that if you use the Pro or Enterprise Service, 'the Replit Commercial Agreement will apply and govern your use of our services,' while the footer links a 'Pro agreement' and an 'Enterprise agreement'. Both are quoted as written, and this page does not state which applies to a given account.

What can cause unexpected usage charges on Replit?

Replit's documentation says Agent work in paid modes uses effort-based pricing, that Plan Mode can perform billable reasoning even when it does not change code, and that published apps and production databases are billed by usage. It describes usage limits and budgets that cap spending beyond monthly credits (applied after any credit packs are used), a service shutdown limit and alerts that send notifications. It also says some Agent capabilities use paid third-party APIs (such as Claude, ChatGPT and Nano Banana / Gemini), billed at the provider's public API rate and deducted from Replit credits. Usage data can take up to 30 minutes to appear on the dashboard.

Do Replit credit packs expire or renew?

The Managing Your Spend page says credit packs expire six months after purchase, do not renew automatically and do not roll over. Auto-reload, which buys a new pack when the balance runs low, can be turned on or off from Billing in Settings.

Can I sue Replit or join a class action?

Terms section 7 requires individual binding arbitration with NAM and waives class, representative and consolidated actions, unless you opt out by emailing [email protected] within thirty days after first becoming subject to the agreement. A claim letter to [email protected] and a 60-day resolution period come first. The Pro Agreement has its own arbitration section. This is the company's contract language, not legal advice.

Does Replit say its AI Agent can make mistakes?

The pricing page says Replit Agent 'is powered by large language models' and that its behavior 'is probabilistic - meaning it may occasionally make mistakes.' Terms section 6(a) says code generated or suggested by its AI systems 'may be erroneous or incomplete.' The Register reported in July 2025 on a user's account of a deleted production database, and on Replit's stated response.

What does Trustpilot show for Replit?

As displayed on 2026-10-20, Trustpilot shows 2.8 from 1,560 reviews, 455 of them in the last 12 months, with 43 percent 5-star and 34 percent 1-star. The profile is claimed, the company invites reviews, and Trustpilot shows that it has not replied to negative reviews. Reviews are customers' statements and Trustpilot says it does not fact-check them.

Who operates Replit and how do I contact it?

The Terms of Service name Replit, Inc. The Privacy Policy lists 1001 E Hillsdale Blvd, Suite 400, Foster City, CA 94404 and [email protected]. Refund requests go to [email protected] per the Terms, and the pricing page says in-product help is reached by signing in and using the ? icon.
