Poshmark order or account problem: deadlines, returns, refunds, support and escalation (checked October 14, 2026)
Report the problem inside the window. The Buyer Policy says that for an issue such as an item not as described, 'please inform us within 3 days of delivery of the item to qualify for a refund evaluation under our Posh Protect program'. The Return Policy says a buyer may open a formal return case, by going to their purchases and selecting problems/order inquiry, 'within seventy-two (72) hours from delivery' for undisclosed damage, an incorrect or missing item, an item not as described in the listing, or an item that is not authentic. It adds that a formal return case cannot be opened if the order has already been accepted, and the Buyer Policy says orders are accepted automatically 'after three full days have passed' unless the buyer requests a return by reporting the issue in the Service.
What a return case involves. The Return Policy says that when a return case is opened 'the Buyer must upload photos and provide any additional details describing the issue as requested by Poshmark support'; if the request is approved Poshmark provides a return label, and 'once the return has been delivered to the Seller, the Buyer will receive a full refund'. It also says buyers 'will receive non-redeemable Posh Credits for purchases made entirely, or partially, with non-redeemable Posh Credits'.
What the policies say is not covered. The Return Policy states that trades, offline transactions, items that do not fit, and orders where the buyer changed their mind 'are not covered by Posh Protect' and are final sale. The Buyer Policy states that 'a transaction that begins on Poshmark may not be completed off of Poshmark', and that Poshmark 'does not physically evaluate items listed for sale' except items marked as eligible for Posh Authenticate. Section 15 of the Terms of Service says that 'Poshmark has no obligation to resolve disputes between Users', while reserving 'the right to attempt to help Users resolve disputes', and that the user releases Poshmark 'from any claims, demands, and damages arising out of any disputes with other Users'.
Cancellation and returns. Under the Buyer Policy, purchases are final except where the buyer cancels within three hours of purchase, Poshmark or the seller permits cancellation, or the listing expressly offers returns. The Shipping Policy says a seller must ship within seven days of the order and, if not, the buyer can cancel. Approved returns are made with the prepaid label supplied by Poshmark; the Buyer Policy says buyers who make unauthorized returns are not eligible for a refund through Poshmark.
Contacting Poshmark. Poshmark's Support Center article says it 'offers customer support exclusively through email', gives [email protected] for submitting a request, and says the team typically responds within 1-2 business days. The article does not list a phone line. A number appears on BBB's profile, but see the complaint-record section for how it is labelled.
If the problem is not resolved. The Terms of Service require a 60-day informal resolution step by a written Notice of Claim before arbitration or small claims court, and contain an arbitration clause with a class action waiver that can be opted out of within 30 days of first accepting the Terms (details below). Separately, reports can be made to BBB (profile linked on this page) and to the FTC through ReportFraud.ftc.gov, whose home page invites reports about fraud and 'bad business practices'. Keep order numbers, listing screenshots, photos taken at unboxing and message history.
Regulator actions: none identified in the sources checked on October 14, 2026
No FTC, CFPB, or state attorney general enforcement action against Poshmark, Inc. was identified in the sources checked on October 14, 2026. This is not a complete search: the FTC's own site search was unavailable that day, and state attorney general sites were not individually searched. The 2019 data security incident described in the background section was disclosed by the company; TechCrunch's August 1, 2019 article reports that a company spokesperson said law enforcement was contacted but not state regulators 'because the nature of the information was not financial'. Readers can check current agency pages directly.
Who operates Poshmark, who owns it, and how the marketplace and its rules work
Operator. The Terms of Service say that 'Poshmark', 'we', 'our' and 'us' mean Poshmark, Inc., and give its address as 203 Redwood Shores Pkwy, 8th Floor, Redwood City, CA 94065. BBB lists the business as Poshmark, Inc. at the same address, with a listing titled Poshmark.com; its page data show the business as incorporated on February 3, 2011 and BBB's file as opened on December 3, 2012.
Ownership. Poshmark's Form 8-K filed January 5, 2023 states that the merger with NAVER Corporation (a Korean public corporation) closed on January 5, 2023, that Merger Sub merged into the company 'with the Company surviving the Merger as an indirect subsidiary of' NAVER, and that Poshmark common stock was converted into the right to receive $17.90 in cash per share.
How it works. Per the Buyer Policy, the purchase contract 'will be between you and the Seller and not between you and Poshmark'; Poshmark receives the buyer's payment on the seller's behalf and says it is 'not an auctioneer, a Seller or a shipping carrier'. The Fee Policy page displayed on October 14, 2026 says it is free to list, and that after a sale Poshmark deducts a flat $2.95 for sales under $15 and 20 percent for sales of $15 and above. The Shipping Policy provides one prepaid label per order for shipments up to five pounds.
Account suspension. Section 16 of the Terms says Poshmark 'may suspend or terminate your Account at our discretion without explanation, notice, and liability', and that it may suspend or modify the Service 'to hold funds, pending any investigations or other activity necessary to deter fraud'. The same section says Poshmark 'will have no liability to you or any third party for any suspension or termination of your Account', and the Posh Credits terms say users 'with suspended accounts will be prohibited from using Posh Credits during suspension'.
Seller payouts and standing. The Buyer Policy says orders are accepted by the buyer, or automatically after three full days, 'in order to release payment to the Seller', and the Terms say seller funds 'may be redeemed by Seller through Poshmark's permitted third party payment provider(s)', subject to the Fee Policy and the seller's compliance with the Terms. The Seller Policy displayed on October 14, 2026 (effective July 23, 2026) says sellers 'who repeatedly cancel or fail to ship orders may face temporary account restrictions', that continued violations 'may result in permanent account suspension', and that unshipped or cancelled orders 'at a rate of 3% or more of your total orders within a rolling 90-day period will negatively affect your standing as a seller'.
Shipping limits and a fee change. The Shipping Policy (effective February 13, 2026) says '15 lbs is the maximum shipment weight for any one (1) order' and that 'USPS Priority Mail packaging can no longer be used to ship Poshmark orders'. Poshmark's blog post of October 5, 2026 says USPS began charging a $50 hazmat noncompliance fee on July 12, 2026, that Poshmark had covered most of it for sellers, and that 'starting October 19, 2026, sellers will be responsible for the $50 fee if USPS flags their package'.
Disputes with Poshmark. Section 13 of the Terms requires a 60-day informal resolution period beginning with a written Notice of Claim (sent to Incorporating Services, Ltd., ATTN: NOTICE OF CLAIM, 7801 Folsom Blvd #202, Sacramento CA 95826, per the Terms), then individual binding arbitration, or small claims court at either party's option. The Terms state the right 'to opt out of binding arbitration within thirty (30) days of the date you first accepted this Agreement' by email to [email protected] or certified mail to the Redwood City address, and that governing law is California, with non-arbitrable claims filed in San Mateo County courts.
2019 data security incident. Poshmark's August 1, 2019 blog notice said data from some users 'was acquired by an unauthorized third party', including username, first and last name, gender and city, plus email address, user ID, size preferences, one-way encrypted passwords salted uniquely per user, and social media profile information for users who had connected accounts; it said the data did not include financial or physical address information. An update dated September 9, 2019 said claims that some passwords were compromised may have resulted from password reuse on other sites, that users who had not reset their password since August 1, 2019 would be required to do so at login, and that password hashing was being strengthened.
BBB and Trustpilot data as displayed on October 14, 2026, and this site's own archive
These are third-party snapshots and this site's own records; they are not summed or averaged with each other.
- BBB (profile for Poshmark.com, Redwood City, CA): not BBB Accredited; rating B, with the reason shown as '3,521 complaint(s) filed against business'. The complaints tab shows 3,521 total complaints in the last 3 years and 1,488 filed in the last 12 months; the reviews tab shows 1.03/5 from an average of 548 customer reviews. BBB's page says the file came to its attention in December 2012 and a review of complaints was completed in February 2026, and cautions that the complaint text displayed might not represent all complaints filed. The phone number shown on that profile, (866) 269-5111, is BBB-listed; Poshmark's own Support Center says support is by email only.
- Trustpilot (poshmark.com): 1.2 TrustScore from 5,155 reviews, with 86 percent of reviews shown as 1-star and 5 percent as 5-star; the profile is claimed, and the page says the company has no recent history of asking for reviews, so reviews may not be representative, and that it has not replied to negative reviews.
This site's archive. usacomplaints.com holds 4 published 2013 complaints filed against Poshmark itself (May 9, June 10, August 14 and September 13, 2013). They are user allegations, not findings. They describe, in the writers' words, a payout for sold items that had not arrived, a closet or account blocked or closed, funds held, and purchases the writers said did not match their listings. Other archive posts name individual users as the offenders and mention Poshmark only as the venue; they are not counted here.

For a return case, the Return Policy says the buyer must upload photos and details as requested by Poshmark support, and that once an approved return is delivered to the seller the buyer will receive a full refund; purchases made with non-redeemable Posh Credits are refunded as non-redeemable Posh Credits.
Can I cancel a Poshmark purchase?
