Pinterest: how to delete an account, appeal a suspension and reach support (checked October 16, 2026)

People searching for Pinterest complaints usually want one of three things: to close an account, to get a suspended account or removed Pin reviewed, or to find a person to talk to. These are the routes Pinterest's own pages describe.

  • Delete your account. The Help article says: "When you delete your account, your public profile is immediately deactivated. Your account and personal data are permanently deleted in 7 days." On the web the steps are to log in, open the more-options icon, choose Settings, then Account management, then Delete account. In the app the article lists Account management, then "Delete your data and account". It adds that you can reactivate within the 7 days, and that "users in California need to contact us first" to do so. For a business account, it says outstanding bills must be cleared first and unpaid balances "will be charged to the card that was on file".
  • Pause instead of deleting. The same article describes a separate temporary deactivation that you can reverse later.
  • Suspended or deactivated account. The Help article "Account deactivation" (help.pinterest.com/en/article/account-suspension) says accounts may be deactivated for violations of the Community Guidelines (safety, account security, spam, intellectual property) and that "If you think we shouldn't have deactivated your Pinterest account, get in touch with us". The Enforcement page says appeals "can be submitted in-product, via the Help Center or by clicking the one-click appeal link in an enforcement notice email", and that Pinterest may use automation to handle appeals. The Terms say that where appropriate Pinterest will give written notice and you "may appeal a decision you think was made in error".
  • Contact. The Help Center page "Contact Pinterest support" (help.pinterest.com/en/contact) is the entry point Pinterest publishes; it also links to "Report a policy violation" and "Privacy rights". Complaints in our own archive from 2012 say there was no obvious place to file a complaint; the page above is what the company publishes today.
  • Legal disputes. Section 11 of the Terms (effective April 30, 2025) requires a written Notice of Dispute, emailed to [email protected], followed by a 60-day informal period, and then binding individual arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association; it also states that you and Pinterest "are each waiving the right to a trial by jury or to participate in a class action". The Terms say small claims court is available for qualifying claims. The Notice of Dispute must include your full name, your Pinterest profile name (which begins @), the email address on the account, your country (and state, if a U.S. resident), your counsel if any, a detailed description of the dispute and the alleged harm, and your signature; the Terms say it "can only be sent on behalf of an individual party". Under "Batched Arbitration" the Terms say that if 25 or more similar arbitration demands are filed within a 60-day period or with the assistance of the same law firm or group of law firms, the AAA will consolidate them, with one arbitrator appointed to resolve each batch as a single consolidated arbitration.
  • Liability and age terms. Section 10 of the Terms says: "In no event shall our aggregate liability for all claims relating to the Service exceed one hundred U.S. dollars (U.S. $100.00)." It adds that this does not affect liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law and does not apply to consumers in the EEA or UK. Section 2 says use by anyone under 13 is not allowed and that people aged 13 to 18 may use the Service only with a parent's or legal guardian's permission.

Pinterest's Terms page also states: "We're updating our Terms of Service, effective November 12, 2026." with a preview link. We have not summarized the preview; read it before that date if the arbitration or account-closure terms matter to you.

Pinterest: who operates it

The Terms of Service ("Effective date: April 30, 2025", opened October 16, 2026) state: "If you live in the United States, these Terms are a contract between you and Pinterest, Inc., 651 Brannan Street, San Francisco, CA 94107. If you live outside the United States, these Terms are a contract between you and Pinterest Europe Ltd., an Irish company". They say disputes outside the arbitration clause are decided in San Francisco County or the Northern District of California under California law, except for consumers in the EEA, Switzerland and the UK.

Pinterest, Inc. is an SEC registrant (CIK 1506293). Its Form 10-K for 2025, filed February 12, 2026, says: "Pinterest was incorporated in Delaware in 2008 and is headquartered in San Francisco, California. Pinterest is a visual search and discovery platform, positioned at the intersection of search, social, and commerce. We generate revenue by delivering ads on our website and mobile application." The company's newsroom page says the platform has 640 million monthly active users; that is the company's own figure.

Complaints and reviews about Pinterest

Counts below are snapshots as displayed on October 16, 2026 and are not added to any other source.

  • Trustpilot: the pinterest.com page shows 2,280 reviews with a rating of 1.4 out of 5, 423 reviews in the last 12 months, "Claimed profile • Dec 2018", "This company hasn't invited customers recently, so reviews may not be representative" and "Hasn’t replied to negative reviews". Trustpilot says it does not fact-check reviews; they are opinions.
  • BBB: searches of BBB.org on October 16, 2026 for "Pinterest" (USA) and for "Pinterest, Inc." near San Francisco, CA did not return a Pinterest profile among the results we read; this is not a statement about whether a profile exists elsewhere on BBB.
  • This site: 3 archive posts from 2012 are linked to this page. One is a favorable review of the site, one reports that pages and Pins failed to load on an iPad 2, and one reports a pinning block that the writer says was made in error and an unanswered support ticket. They are consumer statements we have not verified. Three posts are too few to draw conclusions from.

Court cases involving Pinterest

Three federal cases are listed, each taken from its Justia docket page, with the date that page says it was last retrieved from PACER. The first two are securities cases brought by investors, not by Pinterest users. The third, Calcines v. Pinterest, Inc., is a case by an individual plaintiff whose subject the docket entries do not state, so we do not describe it. The list is not a complete search of every court; a Justia party search for "Pinterest" on October 16, 2026 also listed other recent federal cases (including a case closed by voluntary dismissal and patent and copyright suits) that we have not described. The claims in any complaint are allegations. In a general statement about its legal matters that does not name any of these cases, Pinterest's Form 10-Q for the quarter ended June 30, 2026 says the company does not "believe there is a reasonable possibility that the ultimate resolution of these matters, either individually or in aggregate, will have a material adverse effect" on its business or financial results.

The securities case was brought by an investor, Ivan Uziel; the Justia docket lists as lead plaintiffs the Local 705 International Brotherhood of Teamsters Pension Fund, the Bay Area Painters and Tapers Pension Trust Fund and the Northern California Glaziers, Architectural Metal and Glassworkers Pension Plan, who filed the amended complaint.

Searches of the sources we checked on October 16, 2026 did not identify an FTC, state attorney general or CPSC enforcement action against Pinterest, Inc.; this does not exclude actions we did not find.

Is there a lawsuit against Pinterest?

A securities class action, In re Pinterest, Inc. Securities Litigation (N.D. Cal. No. 3:26-cv-02745), was filed on March 30, 2026 by an investor against Pinterest, Inc., William Ready and Julia Brau Donnelly, the defendants named on the docket (Ms. Donnelly was Chief Financial Officer when the case was filed; Pinterest's Form 8-K of October 5, 2026 says she ceases to be CFO on October 26, 2026). The court appointed lead plaintiffs and lead counsel on June 15, 2026, and an amended complaint was filed on September 18, 2026. A related case, Azima v. Ready et al. (N.D. Cal.
