Petfolk
Petfolk is a veterinary clinic chain, operating through Petfolk Inc. (a Delaware corporation formerly named One Vet Inc) and its licensed professional entity Petfolk Veterinary Care, PLLC (formerly One Vet North Carolina, PLLC), that runs 50 primary- and urgent-care "Pet Care Center" clinics for dogs and cats across 17 U.S. metro markets in 10 states, co-founded by Dr. Audrey Wystrach and Michael Wystrach and backed by venture investors including White Star Capital, Movendo Capital and, since October 2024, Deerfield Management. It sells an optional PetfolkCare wellness membership for $199 per year that auto-renews annually and, per its own terms, is non-refundable outside a narrow 3-day window or specific exceptions (pet death, moving out of service area). Petfolk's own Terms of Service and Privacy Policy refer to the operating entity only as "Petfolk And Its Operator" without naming a specific legal entity, and state that the Terms of Service are governed by Delaware law while the separate PetfolkCare Membership Terms of Service are governed by North Carolina law. Petfolk's BBB profile (Charlotte, NC) shows a B- rating, is not accredited, and lists 6 complaints in the last 3 years (1 unresolved) alongside 1 out of 5 stars from 4 customer reviews; Trustpilot shows an unclaimed profile with 0 reviews, and no matching posts were found on USAComplaints. A CourtListener search run on September 29, 2026 did not find any federal lawsuits naming Petfolk, and a check of Petfolk's North Carolina veterinary facility license records, in the same searches, found registrations for its clinics with no disciplinary notice on their face.

Considering Petfolk, or have a billing or care question? What to check
Petfolk is a chain of "Pet Care Center" veterinary clinics for dogs and cats, offering primary and urgent care, open seven days a week according to its own site. Petfolk also sells an optional membership, PetfolkCare, priced at $199 a year, which Petfolk's own Membership Terms of Service describe as providing up to $99 off the base exam fee, 10% off vaccines, flea/tick/heartworm medication, labwork/x-rays and its End of Life Package, $200 toward a spay/neuter procedure, $200 toward a dental cleaning, and 24/7 medical chat through the Petfolk app. Petfolk's site states this is "not an insurance product or reimbursement plan."
- Read your own PetfolkCare agreement. Petfolk's Membership Terms of Service state, in capital letters, that "THIS AGREEMENT AND YOUR PETFOLKCARE MEMBERSHIP AUTOMATICALLY RENEWS UNLESS CANCELED" and that membership is billed yearly upfront to the card on file.
- Benefit limits to know: the exam benefit "applies only to the base exam fee per visit," with the member responsible for any amount over $99; the flea/tick/heartworm discount "applies only to medications purchased and dispensed in-clinic during an in-person appointment," not third-party or online pharmacies; and the dental discount "may be applied to one qualifying dental cleaning per pet per 12-month membership period."
- Petfolk's marketing page and its Membership Terms of Service describe cancellation differently. The public PetfolkCare membership page and its FAQ say members "can cancel anytime before your next renewal date, and your benefits will stay active until the end of your current membership year." The separate, binding Membership Terms of Service instead say cancellation is done through the Petfolk app or by emailing [email protected], and that "your cancellation notice must be received by Petfolk at least 30 days prior to your membership renewal date to be effective with respect to the next billing cycle." These two Petfolk-published statements conflict on how much notice cancellation actually requires; if you plan to cancel, consider doing so well before your renewal date and get written confirmation that it was received in time.
- Refunds are limited. Per the Membership Terms of Service, membership fees "are non-refundable," and fees for memberships "canceled in the middle of a payment period will not be applicable for prorated refunds or billing," except: a full refund (minus any benefits already used) if you cancel within 3 business days of enrolling; or a prorated refund if your enrolled pet dies or you move more than 50 miles from any Petfolk location, with supporting evidence. Petfolk also states it "may, however, provide refunds on a case specific basis at its sole discretion." Memberships redeemed through a gift card or promotional code are stated to be non-refundable under any circumstances.
- For a billing dispute, Petfolk's contact page lists (833) 350-8201 to call, (833) 738-3655 to text, or a contact form whose reason dropdown includes "Records request"; [email protected] is not listed on that page and appears only in Petfolk's SMS Messaging Terms as the contact for SMS program help.
- Medical records and invoices are available through the Petfolk app, which Petfolk's own FAQ says lets you "check medical records and vaccine history, and download invoices, from anywhere"; if you need a copy another way, Petfolk's FAQ says to "reach out to our support team and we'll be happy to send you a copy."
- For a care-quality concern, Petfolk's BBB-published responses to complaints show it has, in some cases, reviewed cases with "medical leadership," refunded promotional credits, and coordinated with vaccine manufacturers on adverse-reaction reports; in other cases Petfolk's responses have disagreed with the customer's account. You can also contact the veterinary licensing board for the state where the clinic is located, or file a BBB complaint.
- Keep your paperwork: itemized estimates and invoices, and any promotional-pricing terms you were quoted, since several BBB complaints involve pricing or promotional-credit disputes.
Company background: entity structure, founders, funding
According to North Carolina Secretary of State business records, the corporate entity behind Petfolk is Petfolk Inc. (SOSID 2369098), a Delaware corporation formed March 4, 2022 that was previously named "One Vet Inc"; it is registered as a foreign corporation in North Carolina with a registered agent (CT Corporation System) in Raleigh, and its filed "Principal Office address" is 2255 Glades Rd, Suite 324a, Boca Raton, FL 33431, with officers listed as Audrey Wystrach (President), Matthew Hagel (Treasurer) and Chris Protasewich (Secretary). Clinics operate through a separate, affiliated professional entity, Petfolk Veterinary Care, PLLC (SOSID 2128837), formed February 9, 2021 and previously named "One Vet North Carolina, PLLC". Separately, Petfolk's own BBB profile lists a broader management team: Dr. Allison Jean Seagle, Dr. Jane Vermeulen, Dr. Connie May and Dr. Ellery Green as "Partner," Marc Holzapfl as Secretary, Eric Martineau-Fortin and Chris Protasewich as Board Chairperson, Audrey Wystrach as President, and Michael Wystrach as Treasurer — a different officer line-up than the state corporate filing, which readers should note. BBB's profile also lists a veterinary facility license number (9289) for this business, issued by the Veterinary Medical Licensing Board, NC.
Petfolk's own "About Us" page gives two, not fully consistent, statements on founding: its main text says Petfolk was "Founded by veterinarian Dr. Audrey Wystrach," while the same page's team-bio section lists her title as "Co-Founder, Co-CEO & DVM" and does not list her brother Michael Wystrach at all. Company press releases have also varied by date: the August 2022 Series A release describes Petfolk as "Family-founded by Co-CEOs Dr. Audrey Wystrach and her brother, second-time founder Michael Wystrach" and quotes both as "Co-CEO and Founder"; the October 2023 Series B release instead says Petfolk was "Founded by CEO Dr. Audrey Wystrach, DVM," with no mention of Michael Wystrach; and a BBB complaint response is signed "Dr. [Audrey] Wystrach, Co-Founder & Co-CEO, Petfolk." BBB's record lists Petfolk's incorporation date as March 7, 2019 per the profile page's underlying data (the rendered page text shows a timezone-shifted "3/6/2019"); BBB does not state why this date precedes Petfolk Inc.'s 2022 Delaware incorporation or its 2020 public launch, and no source reviewed here confirms this 2019 date belongs specifically to the earlier "One Vet" entity.
Petfolk has raised at least three announced venture rounds. According to PR Newswire and industry press: a $40 million Series A (announced August 24, 2022) was led by White Star Capital and Michael Wystrach (founder of Freshly), with participation from Triple Point Capital, alongside a group of individual investors including musicians Miranda Lambert and Dierks Bentley and several motorsports and consumer-industry figures; a $40 million Series B (announced October 19, 2023) was led by Movendo Capital, with existing investors White Star Capital and Idea Farm Ventures also participating, at a time Petfolk said it had grown from a single Charlotte, NC location in 2021 to "11 total locations expected by the end of 2023, with an additional 20 locations planned for 2024," with current locations in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Florida; and a $36 million Series C (announced October 29, 2024) was led by Deerfield Management, with Movendo Capital, White Star Capital, Cutting Horse VC, Idea Farm Ventures and Parkview International also participating. At the time of the Series C announcement, Petfolk described operating 19 clinics across 7 markets and said it expected to reach about 40 clinics across more than 10 metro markets by the end of 2025; by September 2026, Petfolk's own locations page listed clinics across 17 metro markets (Atlanta GA, Charlotte NC, Dallas TX, Houston TX, Indianapolis IN, Jacksonville FL, Kansas City, Oklahoma City OK, Orlando FL, Phoenix AZ, Raleigh NC, Richmond VA, Salt Lake City UT, San Antonio TX, South Florida, Tampa FL and Tulsa OK), totaling 50 individual clinic locations.
Petfolk's own website and press describe a "Partner Program" offering veterinarians equity or ownership stakes in individual clinics; consistent with this, Petfolk's BBB complaints page states "This profile includes complaints for Petfolk, Inc.'s headquarters and its corporate-owned locations," and its BBB customer-reviews page states "This profile includes reviews for Petfolk, Inc.'s headquarters and its corporate-owned locations."
Complaint record: USAComplaints, BBB, and Trustpilot, reported separately
Several sources track feedback about Petfolk, and this page reports each separately rather than blending them into one figure:
- USAComplaints: no approved posts matching "Petfolk" were found on this site as of September 29, 2026.
- BBB (profile for "Petfolk, Inc." of Charlotte, NC, covering the company's headquarters and corporate-owned locations, checked September 29, 2026): Petfolk is not BBB accredited and holds a B- rating, with BBB's stated "Reasons for rating" being "6 complaint(s) filed against business" and "1 complaint(s) filed against business that were not resolved." BBB's complaints tab shows 6 total complaints in the last 3 years, with 2 closed in the last 12 months; the published complaint texts describe disputes over promotional first-visit credits, wrong-state appointment scheduling, a vaccine anaphylactic reaction and follow-up communication, a disputed diagnosis and requested refund, an itemized-billing/medication-pricing dispute, and a misdiagnosis dispute over a cat's prolapsed eye gland — Petfolk responded to each with its account of the visit, and in several cases offered goodwill credits, cited manufacturer (Zoetis) reimbursement for an adverse vaccine reaction, or disputed the customer's characterization. Separately, BBB's customer-review score is 1 out of 5 from 4 customer reviews, all critical, describing concerns about diagnosis, follow-up and transparency; Petfolk posted a response to at least one review describing its diagnostic process.
- Trustpilot: the petfolk.com profile is unclaimed with 0 reviews as of the date checked.
- ComplaintsBoard: no profile page for Petfolk was found at complaintsboard.com/petfolk as of the date checked.
Because each source covers a different population, time window and methodology, none of these figures is added to or averaged with any other. Petfolk's own contact and FAQ pages separately display a "4.8" rating and "9000+ reviews" next to a Google logo; these are Petfolk's own figures (apparently an aggregate of individual-location Google reviews) and were not independently verified here.
Is Petfolk Legitimate?
Petfolk is a real, operating veterinary clinic chain. Its parent, Petfolk Inc., is an active Delaware corporation registered to do business in North Carolina (NC SOSID 2369098), and clinics operate through a licensed professional entity, Petfolk Veterinary Care, PLLC (NC SOSID 2128837), which the North Carolina Veterinary Medical Board's public license-verification tool shows as holding active, inspected facility registrations for multiple North Carolina locations (for example, inspections recorded in January, February and July 2026 for its Concord, Holly Springs, Huntersville and Wake Forest clinics); no disciplinary notice against these registrations was found in the records checked, in the searches run on September 29, 2026. A search of CourtListener's federal court database run on September 29, 2026, for "Petfolk," "Petfolk Inc," "One Vet Inc" and "One Vet North Carolina" returned no matching federal lawsuits or opinions. Petfolk has raised at least $116 million in disclosed venture funding across three rounds since 2022 (Series A led by White Star Capital, Series B led by Movendo Capital, Series C led by Deerfield Management), and operates 50 clinics across 17 U.S. metro markets. At the same time, Petfolk's own Terms of Service and Privacy Policy identify the operator only as "Petfolk And Its Operator" rather than naming a specific legal entity, and its BBB profile shows a B- rating with 6 complaints in three years and a 1-out-of-5 customer-review average from 4 reviews; its Trustpilot profile is unclaimed with no reviews. This page assigns Petfolk no rating, score or "scam" label of its own — the licensing, funding and complaint information above is reported so readers can weigh it for themselves.

What is PetfolkCare and how much does it cost?
PetfolkCare is Petfolk's optional wellness membership, priced at $199 per year per enrolled pet according to petfolk.com. Petfolk's own FAQ states benefits include "$99 off all exams," 10% off vaccines, flea/tick/heartworm medication, labwork/x-rays and its End of Life Package, $200 toward a spay or neuter procedure, $200 toward a dental cleaning, and 24/7 medical chat through the Petfolk app. The Membership Terms of Service add limits on these benefits: the exam discount "applies only to the base exam fee per visit," with any amount over $99 owed by the member; the flea/tick/heartworm discount applies only to medication "purchased and dispensed in-clinic during an in-person appointment"; and the dental discount applies to "one qualifying dental cleaning per pet per 12-month membership period." Petfolk's Membership Terms of Service state PetfolkCare "is not an insurance product or reimbursement plan."
How do I cancel my PetfolkCare membership?
Petfolk publishes two different answers to this question. Its Membership Terms of Service say you can cancel by making changes in the Petfolk app or by emailing [email protected], and that "your cancellation notice must be received by Petfolk at least 30 days prior to your membership renewal date to be effective with respect to the next billing cycle." Petfolk's public membership page and its own FAQ instead say "you can cancel anytime before your next renewal date, and your benefits will stay active until the end of your current membership year." These two Petfolk-published statements conflict on how much advance notice is actually required; readers who want to cancel should do so well ahead of their renewal date and get written confirmation that Petfolk received it in time. The membership otherwise auto-renews annually at the then-current fee.
Is the PetfolkCare membership fee refundable?
Petfolk's Membership Terms of Service state that membership fees "are non-refundable," with limited exceptions: a full refund (minus the value of any benefits already used) if you cancel within 3 business days of enrolling; or a prorated refund if your enrolled pet dies or you move more than 50 miles from any Petfolk location, with supporting evidence. The terms add that "Petfolk may, however, provide refunds on a case specific basis at its sole discretion." Memberships redeemed through a gift card or promotional code are stated to be non-refundable under any circumstances.
Where are Petfolk clinics located?
As of September 29, 2026, petfolk.com's locations page listed clinics in 17 U.S. metro markets across 10 states: Atlanta GA (6), Charlotte NC (6), Dallas TX (7), Houston TX (5), Indianapolis IN (3), Jacksonville FL (1), Kansas City KS (2), Oklahoma City OK (1), Orlando FL (5), Phoenix AZ (1), Raleigh NC (4), Richmond VA (1), Salt Lake City UT (1), San Antonio TX (1), South Florida FL (4), Tampa FL (1), and Tulsa OK (1), totaling 50 individual clinic locations.
Who founded Petfolk and who has invested in it?
Petfolk's own sources describe its founding differently depending on the date and page. Its current "About Us" page's main text says Petfolk was "Founded by veterinarian Dr. Audrey Wystrach," but the same page's team-bio section gives her title as "Co-Founder, Co-CEO & DVM" and does not mention her brother Michael Wystrach. Petfolk's August 2022 Series A release calls the company "Family-founded by Co-CEOs Dr. Audrey Wystrach and her brother, second-time founder Michael Wystrach" (previously founder/CEO of Freshly) and quotes both as "Co-CEO and Founder"; its October 2023 Series B release instead says Petfolk was "Founded by CEO Dr. Audrey Wystrach, DVM," without mentioning Michael Wystrach. Petfolk has raised at least $116 million across three announced venture rounds since 2022: a Series A led by White Star Capital and Michael Wystrach, a Series B led by Movendo Capital, and an October 2024 Series C led by Deerfield Management, with other participants including Idea Farm Ventures, Cutting Horse VC and Parkview International. North Carolina corporate records list Petfolk Inc.'s officers as Audrey Wystrach (President), Matthew Hagel (Treasurer) and Chris Protasewich (Secretary) — Michael Wystrach is not listed as an officer in that filing — while Petfolk's BBB profile lists a broader group including several DVM "Partners" and Michael Wystrach as Treasurer.
How do I contact Petfolk?
Petfolk's contact page lists (833) 350-8201 to call and (833) 738-3655 to text the Petfolk team; general questions can be emailed through the contact form or to [email protected], and PetfolkCare membership cancellations can be emailed to [email protected]. Petfolk's website is petfolk.com, and its app is reached at app.petfolk.com.
Does Petfolk have BBB complaints?
Petfolk's BBB profile (Charlotte, NC), which BBB says covers its headquarters and corporate-owned locations, shows 6 total complaints in the last 3 years (2 closed in the last 12 months, 1 unresolved) and a B- rating; it is not BBB accredited. Published complaints describe disputes over promotional credits, a wrong-state appointment, a vaccine reaction and follow-up communication, disputed diagnoses, and medication/billing pricing; Petfolk responded to each, in some cases offering goodwill credits or citing a manufacturer's separate reimbursement.
What did a court-records search and a state veterinary board check find about Petfolk?
A CourtListener search run on September 29, 2026 for "Petfolk," "Petfolk Inc," "One Vet Inc" and "One Vet North Carolina" (Petfolk's and its professional entity's former legal names) returned no federal lawsuits or court opinions. A check of the North Carolina Veterinary Medical Board's public facility license-verification tool, run on September 29, 2026, found registrations for eight Petfolk clinics (Ballantyne, Cary, Concord, Holly Springs, Huntersville, North Hills, South Park and Wake Forest), with recorded inspection dates for four of them (Concord 1/9/2026, Wake Forest 1/16/2026, Holly Springs 2/13/2026, Huntersville 7/8/2026) and no disciplinary notice on their face; this page did not check every state veterinary board covering Petfolk's other markets, so this is not a claim that no such action exists anywhere. Complaints against individual licensees or registrants (as opposed to facility registrations) go through the board's own complaint process rather than this lookup tool — see "How do I file a complaint against a veterinarian or facility Petfolk uses?" below.
What states does Petfolk operate in?
As of September 29, 2026, petfolk.com's locations page listed Petfolk "Pet Care Center" clinics in 10 states, grouped into 17 metro markets: Arizona (Phoenix), Florida (Jacksonville, Orlando, South Florida, Tampa), Georgia (Atlanta), Indiana (Indianapolis), Kansas (Kansas City), North Carolina (Charlotte, Raleigh), Oklahoma (Oklahoma City, Tulsa), Texas (Dallas, Houston, San Antonio), Utah (Salt Lake City) and Virginia (Richmond).
How do I file a complaint against a veterinarian or facility Petfolk uses?
State veterinary boards (or, in some states, a different licensing agency) handle complaints about a licensee's or facility's professional conduct; billing, fee and refund disputes are generally handled separately, if at all, through Petfolk itself, BBB, a state consumer-protection office, or a card-issuer dispute. This page has verified, live on September 29, 2026, the complaint process for each of the 10 states where petfolk.com lists clinics:
- North Carolina (NC Veterinary Medical Board): complaints must be in writing, preferably through its online Enforcement Portal, or by mailed letter with a signed Records Release Form; cannot be filed anonymously, by phone, fax or email; must be filed within a three-year statute of limitations; 919-854-5601 or [email protected].
- Georgia (Secretary of State Professional Licensing Boards Division): complaints must be submitted in writing, online at goals.sos.ga.gov, and must name the licensed individual or facility; the board "has no authority to set business fees or settle business fee disputes."
- Indiana (Indiana Board of Veterinary Medicine): consumer complaints against a licensed professional are filed with the Indiana Attorney General's office, online or by calling 1-800-382-5516 or 317-232-6330; the Board only acts if the Attorney General brings a case to it.
- Texas (Texas Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners): complaints are filed through an online form at veterinary.texas.gov/complaints; investigation files are confidential under Texas law; questions go to [email protected] or 512-305-7555.
- Florida (Dept. of Business and Professional Regulation, DBPR): complaints against a licensed veterinary business are filed using DBPR's veterinary-medicine complaint package, online or by mail; DBPR's own guidance says it "cannot represent you in civil matters to recover fees paid or seek remedies for injuries"; general assistance at (850) 487-1395.
- Kansas (Kansas Board of Veterinary Examiners): complaints must be submitted in writing (a downloadable complaint form, or a signed letter with your contact information, the veterinarian's name, dates and a description); the board's primary tool is license discipline, and it states "recovery of damages is beyond the scope of the Board's authority."
- Oklahoma (OK State Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners): requires a written, signed complaint form to open an investigation; the board states its "regulation does not extend to disputes over professional fees" absent clear evidence of fraud, and refers fee complaints to the state Division of Consumer Affairs, professional associations or the local BBB.
- Utah (Dept. of Commerce, Division of Professional Licensing, DOPL): complaints are filed online or by form; DOPL states it "will not act as your attorney for purposes of settling, recovering monetary loss, or performing any other dispute resolution," and directs anyone who lost money to a personal attorney.
- Virginia (Dept. of Health Professions, DHP, Enforcement Division — not DPOR, which regulates other professions): DHP's Enforcement Division takes complaints about veterinary establishments and licensees; it states its health regulatory boards "do not have the authority to require a licensee to return money or provide other personal remedies."
- Arizona (Arizona Veterinary Medical Examining Board): complaints must name a specific veterinarian or certified veterinary technician (a hospital/clinic itself cannot be the subject of a complaint) and can be mailed or emailed; the board generally has no jurisdiction over fee disputes, but under a 2017 law it may order a licensee to reimburse fees if the complainant requests this on the complaint form.
None of these agencies can guarantee a refund; several (Kansas, Oklahoma, Utah, Virginia) expressly say they cannot award money or resolve billing disputes, while Georgia's and Arizona's boards have narrow, conditional exceptions. See "Is the PetfolkCare membership fee refundable?" and the billing-dispute guidance above for Petfolk's own process.
