Oura makes the Oura Ring, a health-tracking smart ring used with a paid, automatically renewing Oura membership. U.S. customers buy from Ouraring Inc. of San Francisco, California, and customers elsewhere from Oura Health Oy of Finland. Rings bought from Oura's online store can be returned within 30 days of receiving the order, membership fees already paid are generally not refunded, and new products carry a one-year limited warranty. Consumer class actions filed in 2026 in federal court in San Francisco over sleep-stage tracking claims and battery overheating are pending; their claims are allegations.

The companies behind Oura are named in its own documents: the Terms of Use name Ouraring Inc. of San Francisco as the seller to U.S. customers and Oura Health Oy of Oulu, Finland as the seller elsewhere, and its parent, Oura Inc., has filed a registration statement with the SEC. Oura publishes its cancellation steps, a 30-day return policy for purchases from its online store and a one-year limited warranty, all described on this page. On Trustpilot the company's profile shows 4.0 from 5,276 reviews. BBB, by contrast, counts 409 complaints in the last three years, shows the business as not rated and not accredited, and has posted an alert about its complaints. Three consumer class actions filed in 2026 over sleep-stage tracking claims and battery overheating are open in federal court in San Francisco; their claims are unproven allegations, and Oura has asked the court to send one of them, Surber, to individual arbitration. A fourth suit, over automatic membership renewal, was voluntarily dismissed by the plaintiff in April 2026.

Oura on BBB, Trustpilot and product-safety records
No published complaint reports are currently linked to this profile. The figures on this page come from outside sites and are not this site's rating.
- Better Business Bureau. BBB lists the company as Oura Ring, 500 Pine St, San Francisco, CA 94104, in the Jewelry Designers category. The profile is not BBB accredited and shows "Not Rated" instead of a letter grade, notes that the business is in the process of responding to previously closed complaints, and carries one BBB alert concerning its complaints. It counts 409 complaints filed in the last three years and 116 customer reviews.
- Trustpilot, ouraring.com. The profile, listed under the name ŌURA and claimed by the company since March 2020, shows a TrustScore of 4.0 from 5,276 reviews. Trustpilot notes that the company has no recent history of inviting customers to leave reviews, and that it has replied to 6 percent of negative reviews, typically within one week.
- Product safety. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission recall database lists no recall of an Oura product. Reports of rings overheating are the subject of the Fomin class action described under court cases; in December 2025 Oura told Entrepreneur magazine that such incidents were "extremely rare" and appeared to be isolated. A ring that overheats, swells or burns the skin can be reported to the CPSC at SaferProducts.gov.

Submit a ComplaintOura complaints: cancel, return, refund and where to complain
Oura currently publishes two versions of its Terms of Use: the new terms at ouraring.com/terms-and-conditions, Last Updated October 2, 2026 and effective November 4, 2026, and the "Previous Terms and Conditions", Last Updated April 20, 2026. Until November 3, 2026 the April 20 version is the one in force; from November 4, 2026 the new version applies.
More detailShow less
Each rule on this page names the version it comes from; also check the terms shown in your account or at checkout.
- Cancel the membership. The April 20, 2026 terms say to "click on the “Cancel Account” button from your account screen" or to submit a ticket at support.ouraring.com. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current subscription term, and the renewal fee is charged one day before the monthly or yearly anniversary of the purchase date, so cancel before that day. Section V of the terms effective November 4, 2026 says: "You may cancel at any time, online and without any further steps, using the “Cancel membership” link in your account settings in the Oura Apps or at ouraring.com." It also allows cancelling through the channel where you bought the subscription or through the team at support.ouraring.com, and says "you must cancel at least one day before your renewal date" to avoid the next charge.
More detailShow less
Oura's Return and Exchange FAQs also name the Membership Hub (membership.ouraring.com) and the Oura app settings for cancelling.
- Refund of membership fees. Both versions say that cancelling stops only future charges, that previously paid fees are not refunded, in full or pro rata, and that you keep access until the end of the term you paid for. Both offer a 14-day Cooling-Off Period with a full refund to people who reside outside the United States, provided they have not logged in or started using the membership. Both also state: "Refunds will not be issued unless required by law", while allowing Oura to give refunds or credits at its own discretion. A free trial turns into a paid membership automatically: the April 20, 2026 terms say to cancel before the trial ends, and the terms effective November 4, 2026 say at least one day before it ends.
- Return the ring. Oura's Return and Exchange FAQs say that if you bought from the Oura online store you "can return or exchange your fully functional and undamaged Oura product for any reason within 30 days of receiving your original order". The return must include everything from the original purchase (for a ring set: the ring, charger and USB-C cable), and partial returns from a ring set are not accepted. Shipping, handling and customs charges from the original order are non-refundable, and warranty replacements cannot be returned for a refund. In the United States and other listed countries, start the return in Oura's self-service portal, where eligible orders appear three days after they ship, with your order number (format SO-XXXXXXXX, shown in the order confirmation email) and the email address used for the order; the portal issues a prepaid shipping label, and the package should be sent within 14 calendar days. Oura allows one return or exchange per item: a direct exchange is only for a different size of the same ring, and a refund is not available after an exchange. Once Oura receives the item, the return is processed within 14 business days and the refund goes to the original payment method only. Stelo Glucose Biosensors, as medical devices, cannot be returned. A ring bought from a retailer must be returned to that retailer under its own policy. If you return a ring for a refund, cancel the membership separately so the charges stop.
- Warranty. Both versions of the terms give the original purchaser a limited warranty against defects in material and workmanship of one year for new products and ninety days for refurbished products; a longer period applies where local law requires it. Under the April 20, 2026 terms the period runs from the date of purchase; under Section VIII of the terms effective November 4, 2026 it runs from the date of delivery. Oura repairs or replaces the failed components, or may instead offer a full refund; you pay any related shipping charges.
More detailShow less
The warranty does not cover normal wear and tear, including scratches and dents. A repaired or replacement new product is covered for the longer of ninety days or the rest of the original one-year warranty. Start a warranty claim with Member Care and keep your original purchase information, which Oura may ask for.
- Price changes. The April 20, 2026 terms promise at least 30 days' notice of a fee change by email to the address on your account. Section V of the terms effective November 4, 2026 says Oura will announce membership fee changes in advance and that you may cancel before the new fee takes effect.
- Contacting Oura. Section XII of the terms effective November 4, 2026 lists [email protected] and the mailing address 415 Kearny Street, San Francisco, CA 94108. The Oura Member Care site at support.ouraring.com offers a virtual assistant, Finn, and chat support around the clock, and phone support by scheduled appointment.
- Disputes. The April 20, 2026 terms require binding arbitration before a single arbitrator and a waiver of class actions; they let either party go to court only for injunctive relief against misuse of the services or infringement of intellectual property, and they require a claim to be filed within one year after it arose, except where the law prohibits that limit. They contain no small claims exemption and no pre-dispute notice procedure. Section XVI of the terms effective November 4, 2026 keeps individual arbitration and the class action waiver for U.S. residents but exempts claims that qualify for small claims court and claims for public injunctive relief under California law. Under those terms, before starting arbitration you must send a written Pre-Dispute Notice to Oura's agent for service of process, CSC Lawyers Incorporating Service, 2710 Gateway Oaks Drive, Suite 150N, Sacramento, California 95833, with your name, contact information, account or transaction details, purchase date, a description of the claim and the relief you want; the parties then have 30 days to negotiate before a demand can be filed with the American Arbitration Association.
More detailShow less
Section XVI also sets special procedures when 25 or more similar arbitration demands are filed by claimants who share a lawyer.
- Card dispute. If you were charged after cancelling, or for a return Oura did not refund, you can dispute the charge with your card issuer. Under the federal Fair Credit Billing Act, a written billing-error notice to a credit card issuer must reach it within 60 days after the first statement showing the charge.
- Outside complaint routes. Oura's California notice names the Complaint Assistance Unit of the Division of Consumer Services of the California Department of Consumer Affairs, 1625 North Market Blvd., Suite N 112, Sacramento, California 95834, (800) 952-5210 or (916) 445-1254.

You can also report to the Federal Trade Commission at ReportFraud.ftc.gov, complain to your state attorney general, and file a complaint with the BBB, which lists the company as Oura Ring in San Francisco. Overheating or burn injuries from a ring can be reported to the Consumer Product Safety Commission at SaferProducts.gov.
Keep your order number, the order confirmation email, the payment record, the cancellation confirmation and screenshots of the screen where you cancelled.
Court cases involving Oura
The consumer cases on this page are proposed class actions in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California. They state the plaintiffs' allegations; no court has found Oura liable in any of them.
More on the lawsuitsShow less
- Sleep-stage accuracy. Surber v. Oura, Inc. (3:26-cv-08686, filed August 20, 2026) and Joseph v. Oura Inc. (3:26-cv-10801, filed September 22, 2026) allege that Oura marketed the Oura Ring 4, Ring 4 Ceramic and Ring 5 as able to accurately track sleep stages although the rings lack the sensors used in clinical sleep studies. Oura has publicly disputed these claims. In Surber, Oura Health Oy and Oura, Inc. moved on September 10, 2026 to compel individual arbitration (Doc. 13); the plaintiff filed an opposition on October 8 and Oura replied on October 15, 2026. The court has since entered an order terminating the scheduled hearings, and no ruling on the motion appears on the docket. Joseph is at an early stage: a summons was issued on September 24, 2026 and a consent or declination to a magistrate judge was filed on October 8, 2026.
- Battery overheating. Fomin v. Oura Ring, Inc. (3:26-cv-03955, filed May 1, 2026) alleges that the Oura Ring 4 battery can overheat and cause burns or blisters; the complaint quotes an Oura social-media reply saying the company was "actively reviewing the individual cases". The court entered an order on a motion to stay on August 3, 2026; the case remains open and no ruling on the merits appears on the docket.
- Membership renewal. Lekhadia v. Oura Health Oy (3:25-cv-10997, filed December 26, 2025) alleged that Oura's automatic renewal practices violated California's Automatic Renewal Law. The plaintiff filed a notice of voluntary dismissal on April 24, 2026; on April 29, 2026 Magistrate Judge Alex G. Tse denied Oura's motion to dismiss and motion to compel arbitration as moot, and the case was closed. The docket does not give a reason for the dismissal.
- Former chief executive. Oura's Form S-1/A describes two suits by Harpreet Singh Rai, Oura's former chief executive; neither is a consumer case. In Singh Rai v. Ouraring Inc. and Oura Health Oy (4:25-cv-09654, Northern District of California, filed November 7, 2025) he alleges entitlement to additional equity compensation connected with his departure in December 2021; Oura filed motions to compel arbitration or, in the alternative, to dismiss, the court ruled on those motions on September 25, 2026, and in October 2026 an appeal was docketed with the U.S. Court of Appeals. On May 29, 2026 he sued Oura, its chief financial officer and certain directors in the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware over an equity repurchase agreement he signed in September 2024, alleging fraud, securities fraud, breach of fiduciary duty and negligent misrepresentation and seeking rescission and restitution. These are allegations; Oura says it believes each action is without merit.
- Patents. According to Oura's Form S-1/A, Samsung Electronics filed a complaint with the U.S. International Trade Commission on December 12, 2025 alleging that certain Oura products infringe four patents, and seeking relief that could include restrictions on importing certain Oura Ring products. Omni MedSci, Inc. sued Oura on December 20, 2024 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas over wearable health sensor patents, seeking about $120 million in damages. Oura says it believes these claims are without merit. These disputes concern technology rights, not consumer purchases.

Who runs Oura
Oura's Terms of Use effective November 4, 2026 say that a U.S. resident is "contracting with Ouraring Inc." and a resident of any other country with Oura Health Oy. The terms give Ouraring, Inc.'s principal address as 415 Kearny Street, San Francisco, CA 94108. They name Oura Health Oy, Elektroniikkatie 10, Oulu, Finland, as the legal manufacturer of the Fertile Window feature, which is CE marked as a medical device in the European Union, and say the ŌURA, Ō and OURA marks are trademarks of Oura Health Oy.
Oura sells smart rings, chargers and sizing kits together with an Oura membership that renews automatically, monthly, annually or on another term, until it is cancelled. The terms say the services are not a medical device, except for features Oura designates as regulated, and are not intended to diagnose or treat any condition. Oura's SEC registration statement (Form S-1/A, September 2026) says the company was first incorporated in Finland on April 24, 2013 as JouZen Oy, and that on March 31, 2026 it completed a reorganization that moved its parent company from Finland to the United States; the parent is now Oura Inc., a Delaware corporation formed on January 28, 2026. The filing gives U.S. pricing of $349 to $499 for the ring and a $5.99 monthly membership fee; prices at checkout may differ.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I cancel an Oura membership?
Cancel from your account in the Oura app or at ouraring.com, in the Membership Hub at membership.ouraring.com, or through a ticket with Member Care at support.ouraring.com. Under the April 20, 2026 terms, in force until November 3, 2026, the button is called "Cancel Account" and the renewal fee is charged one day before the anniversary of your purchase date, so cancel before that day. The terms effective November 4, 2026 rename it the "Cancel membership" link, allow cancelling where you bought the membership, such as an app store, and say to cancel at least one day before the renewal date. Under both versions the membership stays active until the end of the term you paid for. Keep the cancellation confirmation.
Can I get a refund on an Oura membership?
Generally not for time already paid. Both the April 20, 2026 terms and the terms effective November 4, 2026 say that cancelling stops only future charges and that previously paid fees are not refunded, in full or pro rata; you keep access until the end of the paid term. The exception in both is a 14-day Cooling-Off Period for residents outside the United States who have not started using the membership. Both also say refunds are not issued unless required by law, although Oura may give refunds or credits at its own discretion. If you were charged after you cancelled, contact Member Care with your cancellation confirmation, and if that fails, dispute the charge with your card issuer.
How long do I have to return an Oura Ring?
Thirty days from receiving the order, if you bought from the Oura online store. Oura's Return and Exchange FAQs say a fully functional, undamaged product can be returned or exchanged "for any reason within 30 days of receiving your original order", with all items from the original set; shipping, handling and customs charges are not refunded. In the United States and other listed countries, start the return in Oura's self-service portal with the order number and order email; eligible orders appear there three days after they ship. The portal issues a prepaid label, and the package should be shipped within 14 calendar days. Rings bought from a retailer go back to that retailer. Cancel the membership separately so charges stop.
What warranty does the Oura Ring have?
Section VIII of Oura's Terms of Use gives the original purchaser a limited warranty against material defects in material and workmanship for one year from delivery on new products and ninety days on refurbished products, longer where local law requires. Oura repairs or replaces the failed product, or may offer a full refund, at its discretion; you pay any related shipping. Normal wear and tear, including scratches and dents, is not covered. A warranty replacement for a new product is covered for the longer of ninety days or the rest of the original year.
What is Oura's Trustpilot score?
Trustpilot shows a TrustScore of 4.0 from 5,276 reviews for ouraring.com, a profile the company has claimed since March 2020. Trustpilot notes that Oura has no recent history of inviting customers to review it, so the reviews come from people who chose to post, and that the company has replied to 6 percent of negative reviews, typically within one week. The score is Trustpilot's, not this site's.
Does Oura have a BBB rating?
No letter grade. BBB lists the company as Oura Ring, 500 Pine St, San Francisco, CA 94104, and shows it as "Not Rated" and not BBB accredited, with a note that the business is in the process of responding to previously closed complaints. The profile counts 409 complaints filed in the last three years and 116 customer reviews, and carries one BBB alert concerning its complaints. To complain through BBB, file on that profile; BBB forwards the complaint to the business and asks it to respond. The figures are BBB's, not this site's.
Are there lawsuits against Oura?
Three proposed consumer class actions are open in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California: Surber (filed August 20, 2026) and Joseph (filed September 22, 2026) over sleep-stage tracking claims, and Fomin (filed May 1, 2026) over battery overheating. These are the plaintiffs' allegations, and no court has ruled on their merits. In Surber, Oura has moved to compel individual arbitration, and no ruling on that motion appears on the docket. A fourth case, Lekhadia, over automatic membership renewal, was voluntarily dismissed by the plaintiff in April 2026. Oura's Form S-1/A also describes patent disputes, including a complaint Samsung filed against Oura at the U.S. International Trade Commission and a suit by Omni MedSci in Texas, and two suits by its former chief executive over equity; Oura says it believes these claims are without merit.
Can I sue Oura or join a class action?
Both versions of Oura's Terms of Use require arbitration and waive class actions. The April 20, 2026 terms, in force until November 3, 2026, allow a court case only for injunctive relief against misuse of the services or infringement of intellectual property, require claims to be brought within one year where the law allows that limit, and contain no small claims exemption or pre-dispute notice step. Under Section XVI of the terms effective November 4, 2026, claims that fit small claims court and claims for public injunctive relief under California law are exempt, and before arbitration you must send a written Pre-Dispute Notice to Oura's agent for service of process and allow 30 days for negotiation. In the Surber class action, Oura has asked the court to compel individual arbitration, and no ruling on that motion appears on the docket. Whether the clause binds you, and which version applies to your purchase, is a legal question for a lawyer.
Who operates Oura?
Oura's Terms of Use say U.S. residents contract with Ouraring Inc., whose principal address is 415 Kearny Street, San Francisco, CA 94108, and residents of other countries with Oura Health Oy of Oulu, Finland, which also owns the ŌURA trademarks. Oura's SEC filing says the company was first incorporated in Finland in 2013 and that, after a reorganization completed on March 31, 2026, its parent company is Oura Inc., a Delaware corporation.
Does Oura sell my personal data?
Oura's privacy policy, dated June 15, 2026, says: "We do not sell or share your personal data for cross-context behavioral advertising", that Oura does not sell personal data for training third-party large language models, and that in the preceding twelve months it has not sold personal information to third parties. The same policy says Oura may use personal data to develop, test and improve its own AI, machine learning and large language model features, and that its website uses cookies to build audiences for online advertising. U.S. residents can request access, correction or deletion of their data; Oura says it responds to validated requests within 45 days. These are the company's own statements.
Does Oura offer a student, healthcare or military discount?
Oura's help center says students, educators, healthcare professionals and first responders who verify their professional status with ID.me can save 10% on the Oura Ring 4 and Oura Ring 4 Ceramic, US only; the discount is redeemed through Oura's preferred pricing page. Veterans, active-duty military, first responders and other eligible government workers can get a dedicated discount on the Oura Ring 4 through GOVX: after creating or logging in to a GOVX account, the member receives a GOVX ID that verifies their status. Discounts cannot be combined or stacked, and only one discount can be applied to an order. Site-wide promotions such as Black Friday/Cyber Monday override other discounts if they offer a better price.
