NVIDIA complaints: where to take a GPU, SHIELD, GeForce NOW or order problem
This page was checked on 2026-10-20. NVIDIA's support page (nvidia.com/en-us/support/) lists consumer support for GeForce graphics cards, GeForce NOW and NVIDIA SHIELD. NVIDIA's warranty hub says graphics cards bought through NVIDIA partners "are warranted by the partner" and that "NVIDIA Founders Edition cards are covered directly by NVIDIA". We could not locate separate marketplace terms of sale, so check the current wording for your product before relying on any summary here.
- Start with the support case. Replies from NVIDIA Customer Care on the BBB complaints tab say the support case is the faster channel and note that an automatically closed case can be re-opened by replying to the case email.
- GeForce NOW. NVIDIA's membership page says: "Billing for GeForce NOW starts immediately upon sign-up"; paid plans "will automatically renew"; "Users can cancel GeForce NOW at any time and continue to play until the end of the current billing period"; and "Memberships are billed in full for the entire period at the time of purchase, with cancellations reflected at the start of the next billing period." The same page says paid plans "will be billed monthly, bi-annually or annually, depending on the selected plan", and lists "100 hours premium monthly playtime" for the Ultimate tier as displayed on 2026-10-20. Two BBB complainants say a refund request was declined; that is the complainants' account. BBB marks the June 2026 complaint Resolved and the September 2026 complaint Unanswered. We did not find a refund policy page, and the GeForce NOW Terms of Use contain no refund wording on 2026-10-20.
- GeForce NOW disputes and partners. The GeForce NOW Terms of Use say disputes go to "binding arbitration before an arbitrator from Judicial Mediation and Arbitration Services ("JAMS")", allow small claims court, and give a right to opt out within 30 days of starting to use the service. They also say the service may be provided by a GFN Alliance Partner and that transactions with a partner are solely between you and that partner, so buyers through a partner should contact that partner about cancellation and refunds.
- Marketplace orders. In BBB responses dated June 2026, NVIDIA Customer Care said an order was cancelled because its online marketplace is for end users and orders sent to freight forwarders or resellers are rejected automatically. The complainants dispute that characterization. We could not locate marketplace terms of sale, so no policy wording is presented here as NVIDIA's terms.
- If NVIDIA does not resolve it. File with the BBB (the profile lists complaints and the company's responses), your card issuer for a billing dispute, the FTC at ReportFraud.ftc.gov, and your state attorney general's consumer office.
Securities and Exchange Commission order, May 2022 (investor disclosures)
On May 6, 2022 the SEC announced settled charges against NVIDIA Corporation for inadequate disclosures about the impact of cryptomining on its gaming business. The SEC's order finds that during consecutive quarters of NVIDIA's fiscal year 2018 the company did not disclose that cryptomining was a significant element of its revenue growth from gaming GPUs. The press release states: "Without admitting or denying the SEC's findings, NVIDIA agreed to a cease-and-desist order and to pay a $5.5 million penalty."
This was an investor-disclosure matter under securities law. It did not concern consumer warranty or refund practices. The FTC's closed Part 3 administrative matter Nvidia/Arm, In the Matter of (Docket 9404) was a competition (merger) case, not a consumer order: the FTC page says the Commission filed an action to block NVIDIA's $40 billion acquisition of Arm Ltd., and that in February 2022 NVIDIA announced it had terminated the acquisition and the Commission dismissed the complaint. A consumer-protection agency order against NVIDIA was not identified in the limited sources checked on 2026-10-20; that is not a statement that none exists.
Who NVIDIA is and what it sells to consumers
BBB lists NVIDIA as a corporation at 2788 San Tomas Expy, Santa Clara, California, with Jensen Huang as CEO; BBB gives a business start of 1993-04-01 (raw page data). The GeForce NOW Terms of Use name the contracting party as NVIDIA Corporation and give the same street for legal notices.
NVIDIA's support page groups consumer support under GeForce graphics cards, GeForce NOW and NVIDIA SHIELD. Its GeForce NOW membership page shows paid tiers at $9.99/month (Performance) and $19.99/month (Ultimate) as displayed on 2026-10-20. NVIDIA's warranty page says cards bought through partners such as ASUS, MSI, Gigabyte or EVGA are warranted by the partner, while Founders Edition cards are covered directly by NVIDIA; its graphics-card warranty page states a period of "Three (3) years from the date of purchase" for covered NVIDIA-branded products.
Complaint record as displayed on 2026-10-20
BBB. The BBB profile for NVIDIA, Santa Clara, CA (not BBB Accredited) shows a C- rating, with the reason "Failure to respond to 18 complaint(s) filed against business". The complaints tab shows 69 complaints in the last 3 years and 28 in the last 12 months. The reviews tab shows 1.22 out of 5 from 9 customer reviews. Complaints visible on the first page (March to September 2026) concern a GeForce NOW refund refusal, SHIELD and RTX 5090 replacement delays, a remote-control warranty replacement, and cancelled marketplace orders; several have NVIDIA Customer Care responses. These are consumers' allegations.
Trustpilot. NVIDIA (www.nvidia.com) shows 1.5 from 559 reviews, 66 of them in the last 12 months, an unclaimed profile, and a notice that the company has no history of asking for reviews so they may not be representative.
Our archive. Two approved archive complaints from 2010 name NVIDIA Corporation as the subject; both concern 3D glasses bought from the NVIDIA online store that arrived damaged. A third, from 2008, names NVIDIA together with other companies in a DirectX 10.1 compatibility dispute. Other archive complaints about HP and Dell laptops mention NVIDIA graphics chips; those are directed at the laptop makers and are not linked here. The BBB, Trustpilot and archive figures are separate sources and are not added together.
Consumer class actions: the 2015 GTX 970 litigation
Several 2015 Northern District of California class actions against NVIDIA over the GeForce GTX 970 were consolidated as In re NVIDIA GTX 970 Graphics Chip Litigation, No. 4:15-cv-00760-PJH. On December 7, 2016 U.S. District Judge Phyllis J. Hamilton entered a Settlement Approval Order and Final Judgment (ECF 147) that finally approved a nationwide class settlement with NVIDIA and, per the order, other defendants including Gigabyte, ASUS and EVGA, for U.S. buyers of the GTX 970 between September 1, 2014 and August 24, 2016. The order approved $1,300,000 in class-counsel fees and expenses and states that the claims were "dismissed on the merits with prejudice, consistent with the terms and releases as set forth in the Settlement Agreement." The order also describes the claims as presenting "difficult and complex issues as to liability"; it is a court-approved settlement, not a finding of liability. We do not state per-card payment terms because they are in the Settlement Agreement, not in this order.
Is NVIDIA Legitimate?
NVIDIA Corporation is a Santa Clara, California corporation with a BBB file opened 2001-12-19, its own consumer support portal, a subscription service (GeForce NOW) and an online marketplace. BBB shows a C- rating that it attributes to unanswered complaints, and Trustpilot shows 1.5 from 559 reviews; both are displayed figures, not our rating. The SEC's 2022 order concerned investor disclosures. Whether a specific refund, replacement or order cancellation was handled correctly depends on the facts of that case and the product terms.
