Nuwber Reviews, Complaints & Contacts
Nuwber is a people-search service run by Nuwber, Inc., a Virginia corporation according to its own 2024 federal court filing. People also type the name as Newber or Nuber. Its website, nuwber.com, compiled public-record and other data into searchable profiles showing people's names, addresses, phone numbers, and relatives. The website is not opening normally: connections from the US and Europe get a security page saying the visitor has been blocked, not the service. BBB rates Nuwber, Inc. F, while its Trustpilot reviews are mostly positive. In October 2026 Nuwber settled a New Jersey Daniel's Law lawsuit alleging that it kept publishing the home addresses and phone numbers of police officers, judges, and other covered persons after being asked to stop; the case was dismissed with prejudice on undisclosed terms.
Is Nuwber down?
The Nuwber website is not opening normally. The domain nuwber.com has address records again, but connections from the US and Europe get a security page saying the visitor has been blocked, not the people-search site. The page gives no reason, and a block like this can depend on the visitor's network, so the site may still open for some people.
More on the site statusShow less
The domain's mail (MX) records are active, so email sent to an @nuwber.com address may still be delivered, although delivery does not mean anyone will read or answer it.
The most recent customer review on Nuwber's BBB file, posted September 25, 2026, says the website no longer works and the phone goes unanswered; that is one consumer's account.
A website that does not open does not by itself mean the company has been dissolved or that the data it collected has been deleted, so a removal request is still worth sending.
A similar-looking domain, nuwber.fr, now shows a French-language website, not the Nuwber people-search service. KrebsOnSecurity reported in 2024 that nuwber.fr was registered in 2016, was identical to the Nuwber.com homepage at that time, and was among the domains whose registration records list an email address it tied to Onerep founder Dimitri Shelest.

Nuwber, Inc. is a Virginia corporation according to its own 2024 federal court filing, listed on California's data broker registry, and has a BBB file for a corporation incorporated in 2017. It ran a people-search service that compiled data about individuals, and many Trustpilot reviewers say it helped them find people.
BBB rates the company F, and the complaints BBB shows in detail mostly come from people who say their removal requests were not honored. It has settled two lawsuits: an Illinois proposed class action alleging that it used residents' names to sell subscriptions, in violation of the state's Right of Publicity Act (dismissed in January 2022), and a New Jersey Daniel's Law suit alleging that it kept disclosing the home addresses and phone numbers of police officers, judges, and other covered persons after receiving notices to stop (dismissed in October 2026). Both were dismissed with prejudice on undisclosed terms, without any finding of liability. The website is not opening normally; the contact channels still listed for the company are a phone number and a support email.

No published complaint reports are currently linked to this profile.
Better Business Bureau. BBB gives Nuwber, Inc. an F rating; the company is not BBB-accredited, and BBB cites its failure to respond to 8 complaints among the reasons for the rating. BBB lists 50 complaints in the last three years, 2 of them in the last 12 months. By BBB's status labels, 30 were answered, 11 resolved, 8 unanswered, and 1 unresolved. The largest categories are sales and advertising issues (17) and service issues (16). Most of the complaints BBB displays in detail are about removal requests: people say their name, age, address, or phone number stayed on the site, or reappeared, after they asked for it to be taken down. In one, dated February 4, 2026, the consumer says the company's phone line goes straight to voicemail; in another, dated January 29, 2026, the opt-out at first did not work, and the consumer later confirmed the information had been removed. These are consumers' own accounts, not verified findings. BBB's separate customer-review score is 1.47 out of 5 from 17 reviews; the most recent, posted September 25, 2026, says the website no longer works and the phone goes unanswered.
Trustpilot. Nuwber's Trustpilot profile, claimed by the company in May 2023, shows 4.8 out of 5 from 545 reviews; the reviews it features come from people who used the site to find relatives or old friends, or to check who was behind a suspicious email or text message. Trustpilot shows that the company has not recently invited customers to leave reviews and has not replied to negative reviews.
ComplaintsBoard. ComplaintsBoard shows a score of 1.0 from 0 reviews and 10 complaints.
Each source counts different people over different periods with its own method, so the figures are reported separately and are never added together or averaged into one score.

Nuwber is a people-search service that compiled and published personal profiles — names, addresses, phone numbers, and relatives — drawn from public records and other data sources. Its website, nuwber.com, is not opening normally, so its opt-out page cannot be relied on. These steps work without it:
- Clean up old Nuwber results in Google. Search listings for Nuwber profile pages can linger after a site stops serving them. If a result shows your home address, phone number, or email, use Google's “Results about you” tool to ask Google to remove it.
More detailShow less
If the Nuwber page behind a result no longer exists but the listing is still there, Google's “Refresh outdated content” tool asks Google to update or drop it. Both only change Google's results; neither deletes data that Nuwber holds.
- Send Nuwber a written deletion request. The contacts still listed for the company are [email protected] (on Trustpilot and California's data broker registry) and (844) 912-1292 (on BBB, Trustpilot and the registry); a recent BBB complaint and a BBB review both say calls go unanswered.
More detailShow less
In the email, give the name, past and current addresses, and phone numbers that appeared in your profile, the profile link if you saved one, and ask that your information be deleted and not sold or shared. The email may go unanswered, so keep a copy with the date you sent it: it is your proof if you later complain to a regulator. For a letter, the address on file with BBB and the registry is 700 N Fairfax St, Suite 614, Alexandria, VA 22314.
- If you paid for a Nuwber subscription and are still being billed for a service that no longer works, dispute the charge with your card issuer. Under the federal Fair Credit Billing Act, a written billing-error dispute must reach the issuer within 60 days after it sent the first statement showing the charge. A debit card falls under a different law, the Electronic Fund Transfer Act: tell your bank within 60 days after the statement showing the charge was sent.
- California residents: the state's Delete Request and Opt-out Platform (DROP), at consumer.drop.privacy.ca.gov, sends one deletion request to every data broker registered in California. Brokers have had to process DROP requests since August 1, 2026, at least every 45 days (every 30 days from January 1, 2027).
More detailShow less
Nuwber Inc is on the registry, so a DROP request reaches it. Brokers may keep data that the law exempts, such as public records of property ownership or voting. In its registration, Nuwber reported receiving no California privacy requests of any kind for the reporting year.
- Residents of other states with a consumer privacy law, such as Virginia, where Nuwber is based, can cite that law's right to delete if the law applies to the company. Virginia's law gives a business 45 days to respond (extendable once by 45 days), requires an appeal process if it refuses, and requires it to tell you how to complain to the Attorney General if the appeal is denied.
More detailShow less
Virginia's law does not cover information lawfully made available through government records, which is much of what people-search sites show.
- New Jersey covered persons (police officers, judges, prosecutors, and others protected by Daniel's Law) can send the company a written notice asking it to stop disclosing their home address or unpublished home phone number; for Nuwber, use the email and mailing address on this page.
More detailShow less
The state's Office of Information Privacy, at nj.gov/dca/oip, handles the same protection on New Jersey government websites, not on private sites. Nuwber settled a lawsuit in October 2026 that alleged it ignored such notices.
- Check other people-search sites. These sites draw on overlapping public-record and commercial data, so information that is gone from one site often still appears on others.
- If a request is ignored, file a complaint with your state attorney general's consumer protection office (Nuwber is a Virginia company, so the Virginia Attorney General is also an option), with the FTC at ReportFraud.ftc.gov, and with BBB.
Litigation record
Two lawsuits on the court records name Nuwber directly. Atlas Data Privacy Corp. et al. v. Nuwber, Inc., a New Jersey suit under Daniel's Law, was settled in October 2026; the settlement terms are not public, and the allegations were never proven or decided. Poppenhouse et al. v. Nuwber, Inc., an earlier proposed class action in Illinois, was settled and dismissed in January 2022, also on terms that are not public. Nuwber's related Third Circuit appeal, 25-1581, remains open on that court's docket. The Court & Public Records section gives the court, docket, dates and outcome of each case.

Daniel's Law suit (N.J.S.A. 56:8-166.1) brought by Atlas Data Privacy Corp. as assignee of about 18,938 “Covered Persons” — New Jersey police officers, judges, prosecutors, and others — together with several individual officers, alleging that Nuwber kept disclosing their home addresses or phone numbers after receiving notices asking it to stop. The plaintiffs sought liquidated damages of $1,000 per violation, attorneys' fees, and punitive damages. Nuwber removed the case to federal court on April 7, 2024. In a 2024 decision covering dozens of parallel Atlas suits, the court denied the defendants' motions to dismiss that argued Daniel's Law is facially unconstitutional, and on March 18, 2026 it denied Nuwber's separate motion to dismiss for lack of personal jurisdiction; Nuwber answered the complaint on April 1, 2026. On October 19, 2026 the parties filed a stipulation dismissing the case with prejudice and without costs, referring to a settlement agreement dated October 13, 2026 that the court keeps jurisdiction to enforce. The court closed the case on October 20, 2026.

Nuwber's appeal from the district court's denial of the motions to dismiss that challenged Daniel's Law as facially unconstitutional (D.N.J. 1:24-cv-04609). It was docketed on March 31, 2025 and consolidated with the lead appeal, Atlas Data Privacy Corp. v. We Inform, LLC, 25-1555, before Circuit Judges Bibas, Freeman, and Chung, who heard argument on July 8, 2025. On September 2, 2025 the panel asked the New Jersey Supreme Court to decide what mental state, if any, the statute requires; that court answered on August 12, 2026, and the parties filed supplemental letter briefs on August 26, 2026. The panel has not yet ruled on the appeals.
Atlas Data Privacy Corp. v. We Inform, LLC

This is the lead case in the consolidated Third Circuit appeals that include Nuwber's own appeal, 25-1581; Nuwber is not the named party in this decision. Answering the question certified by the Third Circuit, the New Jersey Supreme Court, in an opinion by Justice Pierre-Louis, held that Daniel's Law requires no particular mental state for a company to be liable for actual damages under N.J.S.A. 56:8-166.1(c)(1). By contrast, the next subsection, 166.1(c)(2), allows punitive damages only for “willful or reckless disregard of the law.”

Proposed class action that, according to a ClassAction.org summary of the complaint, alleged Nuwber used Illinois residents’ identities to sell subscriptions to its database, in violation of the Illinois Right of Publicity Act. Nuwber removed the case from the Sangamon County circuit court to federal court on June 29, 2021 and moved to dismiss it. On December 28, 2021 the court noted that it had been told the parties had reached a settlement; on January 11, 2022 the plaintiffs filed a notice of dismissal with prejudice, and the court dismissed the case and terminated Nuwber's motion to dismiss.
Company background
In its own notice of removal filed in federal court in April 2024, Nuwber stated that it “is, and at the time of the commencement of this action was, a corporation formed under the laws of the State of Virginia, with its corporate headquarters and principal place of business in Virginia.” Court filings caption the company as Nuwber, Inc.
The Better Business Bureau's file for Nuwber, Inc. lists its address as 700 N Fairfax St, Suite 614, Alexandria, VA 22314, with a second Alexandria address at 901 N Pitt St, Suite 170. It gives August 28, 2017 as the date Nuwber, Inc. was started and incorporated and names Tatiana Borodina as CEO. The Nuwber.com website is older than that corporation: KrebsOnSecurity published an archived image of the Nuwber.com homepage from about 2015. The same Fairfax Street address, the phone number (844) 912-1292 and the email [email protected] appear in Nuwber Inc's entry on California's data broker registry.

Reported ownership link to Onerep. In March 2024, KrebsOnSecurity reported what it called “an abundance of evidence” that Dimitri Shelest, founder and CEO of the data-removal service Onerep, founded Nuwber; Onerep’s website stated at the time that OneRep “is not associated with Nuwber.com.” In an update to the story, Shelest acknowledged keeping an ownership stake in Nuwber but said there was “zero cross-over or information-sharing with OneRep.” This is a news report and Shelest’s own response, not a court or regulatory finding about how the two companies operate.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Nuwber down?
The Nuwber website is not opening normally: nuwber.com has address records again, but connections from the US and Europe get a security page saying the visitor has been blocked, not the site. The block can depend on the visitor's network, so it may still open for some people. The domain's email still routes, and the support email and phone number remain listed for the company.
Can I still search for people on Nuwber?
Not reliably. The Nuwber website is not opening normally: connections from the US and Europe get a security page saying the visitor has been blocked, not the people-search tool. The block can depend on the visitor's network, so the site may still open for some people. Nuwber was a people-search service that compiled public-record and other data into profiles showing names, addresses, phone numbers and relatives.
What is Nuwber?
Nuwber is a people-search service run by Nuwber, Inc., a Virginia corporation according to its own 2024 federal court filing. Its website, nuwber.com, compiled public-record and other data into searchable profiles showing people's names, addresses, phone numbers and relatives. The website is not opening normally now.
How do I remove my information from Nuwber now that the site won't load?
With the website not opening normally, its opt-out form cannot be relied on. Email [email protected] with the name, addresses, and phone numbers shown in your profile and ask for deletion; keep a copy. California residents can send one request to every registered data broker, Nuwber Inc included, through the state's DROP platform at consumer.drop.privacy.ca.gov. To clear old Nuwber listings from Google, use Google's “Results about you” and “Refresh outdated content” tools. Because people-search sites share overlapping data, check other people-search sites for the same information too.
Why do Nuwber results still show up in Google?
Search results lag behind changes on a site: a Nuwber page Google indexed earlier can keep appearing, with its snippet, until Google recrawls it and finds it gone. If a result shows your home address, phone number, or email, ask Google to remove it with the “Results about you” tool. If the Nuwber page no longer exists but the listing is still there, the “Refresh outdated content” tool asks Google to update or drop it. Google notes that removing a result from Search does not delete the information from the original source.
Is Nuwber legit?
Nuwber, Inc. is a registered Virginia corporation, according to its own 2024 federal court filing, and BBB lists the corporation as incorporated in 2017. It ran a working people-search service, and its Trustpilot reviews are mostly positive. On the other side, BBB rates it F, and the complaints BBB shows in detail are mostly about removal requests. It has also settled two lawsuits: an Illinois right-of-publicity claim over using residents' names to sell subscriptions, and a New Jersey Daniel's Law claim over disclosing covered persons' home addresses and phone numbers. Both were dismissed with prejudice without a finding of liability. Its website is not opening normally.
Who owns Nuwber?
The company is Nuwber, Inc., which its own 2024 court filing describes as a corporation formed under Virginia law with its headquarters in Virginia. Its BBB file names Tatiana Borodina as CEO. In March 2024 KrebsOnSecurity reported evidence that Dimitri Shelest, founder and CEO of the data-removal service Onerep, founded Nuwber; in response, Shelest acknowledged keeping an ownership stake in Nuwber but said there was “zero cross-over or information-sharing with OneRep.”
What is the Atlas Data Privacy lawsuit against Nuwber?
Atlas Data Privacy Corp. sued Nuwber under New Jersey's Daniel's Law, alleging that it kept disclosing the home addresses or phone numbers of police officers, judges and others after receiving notices asking it to stop. The parties settled, and the case was dismissed with prejudice in October 2026. The settlement terms are not public, and the allegations were never proven. The Court & Public Records section has the docket, dates and related appeal.
Why are Nuwber's Trustpilot and BBB ratings so different?
They measure different things and hear from different people. BBB's letter grade reflects its view of how a business deals with customers, including complaint handling, and BBB cites Nuwber's failure to respond to 8 of them; the complaints BBB shows in detail come mostly from people who wanted their own information taken off the site, and BBB's separate customer-review average is 1.47 out of 5 from 17 reviews. On Trustpilot, which shows 4.8 out of 5 from 545 reviews, the featured reviews come from people who used Nuwber to look someone up. Trustpilot also shows that the company has not recently invited reviews and has not replied to negative ones. ComplaintsBoard shows 1.0 from 0 reviews and 10 complaints. The figures are reported side by side, never combined or averaged.
How do I contact Nuwber?
The website is not opening normally, but two channels are still listed for Nuwber, Inc.: the email [email protected] and the phone number (844) 912-1292. Both appear on its BBB file, its Trustpilot profile, and its entry on California's data broker registry. The domain's mail records are still active, so email should be delivered, but a recent BBB complaint and a BBB review both say calls go unanswered. The address on file is 700 N Fairfax St, Suite 614, Alexandria, VA 22314.
