Noom: how to cancel, refunds, billing, arbitration opt-out and where to complain (checked October 14, 2026)

Noom's own pages, opened on October 14, 2026, set out the routes below. They are the company's wording, not our assessment. The archive on this site contains no complaint posts that name Noom (searched on October 14, 2026), so the practical steps come from Noom's current terms and help pages and the record sections below rely on court records, BBB National Programs, and BBB and Trustpilot as displayed.

Cancelling. Noom's cancellation article says you can cancel in the app (profile picture, Settings, Manage Subscription), on the web in the Subscription Portal (Cancel Subscription), or through the Apple App Store or Google Play if you subscribed there. It states that uninstalling the app does not cancel the subscription and that access continues until the end of the current billing cycle. The Terms (Section 6.6) say you must cancel before 11:59 p.m. Eastern time on the day before your next billing date, and that cancellation takes effect at the end of the then-current billing period or free trial period unless otherwise disclosed.

Refunds. Two Noom pages describe refunds differently. The Terms (Section 6.13) say that other than the California rescission right in Section 6.7, 'all fees and charges assessed by us are non-refundable except as expressly promoted by Noom and to the extent that you qualify for such promotion'. Noom's Refund Policy page says that for Noom Weight 'Refunds may be available if requested within 14 days of your first charge. Renewal charges aren't refundable'; for Noom Med, refunds 'may be available unless a prescription has already been written'; and for Telehealth for Branded Meds, within 7 days of the first charge 'unless a clinical visit has occurred'. To request one, the page says to use the orange chat bubble or the contact form.

Free trials and renewals. The Terms (Section 6.3) say that if a subscription begins with a free trial, the first payment is charged immediately after the trial ends unless cancelled, and that Noom will not send a separate notice that the trial is ending 'unless required by law'.

Contact. Noom's Contact Support page lists 24/7 chat (in the app under Profile picture, then Help, or in the web Account Portal) and phone support at (888) 266-5071, daily 8 AM-8 PM ET. The Terms give [email protected] and a postal address for legal notices: Noom, Inc., Attn: Legal Department, One Palmer Square, Suite 441, Princeton, NJ 08542.

Arbitration and class-action waiver. Section 13 of the Terms provides for individual arbitration administered by National Arbitration and Mediation (NAM) after an informal dispute notice, and Section 14 contains a class-action and jury-trial waiver. Section 13.6 says new users can opt out within 30 days after first accepting the Terms, by contacting Noom support with their name, account email and a clear request to opt out of arbitration.

California. Section 6.7 gives California residents a right to cancel and receive a refund by mailed or delivered signed notice before midnight of the third business day after signing up; Section 17.10 lists the California Department of Consumer Affairs Complaint Assistance Unit.

Other complaint routes. Besides contacting Noom, consumers can file with the Federal Trade Commission (reportfraud.ftc.gov), their state attorney general, or the Better Business Bureau. For a charge on a credit card, the CFPB says you must also send a written billing error notice to the card company within 60 calendar days after the charge appeared on your statement. If the subscription was bought through the Apple App Store or Google Play, the Terms (Section 6.9) say the store's own terms govern purchase, billing, cancellation and refunds where they conflict with the Terms, so the store's policies apply to that charge.

Billing records and add-ons. Noom's billing article says the Subscription Portal shows all billing details, including charges for the program and any add-ons, the payment method used and upcoming renewal dates, and that add-ons are billed separately from the main program and follow their own billing cycle. For an unexpected charge it advises checking the Subscription Portal for an add-on purchase and contacting Noom before the charge or renewal date.

Noom Med cancellation and refills. Noom's Noom Med instructions say that cancelling stops renewal at the end of the current subscription cycle, and that a member who has upcoming refills in the current subscription that they no longer want to receive should email Noom support at [email protected]. Under the Terms (Section 16.2), Noom Med services are offered on a cash-pay basis: Noom says it is not enrolled as a participating provider or vendor with Medicare or Medicaid and that neither Noom nor its clinical partners will submit claims to federal or state payor programs.

Noom: regulator and advertising self-regulation record

BBB National Programs, National Advertising Division (NAD) Case #7539, May 26, 2026. This is an industry self-regulatory body, not a government regulator. In a challenge brought by Eli Lilly and Company, NAD recommended that Noom 'discontinue the claim' "NOOM GLP-1Rx PROGRAM A Smaller Dose. A Smarter Start. MICRODOSE GLP-1Rx STARTS AT $119*" or modify its advertising to avoid conveying that the lower dose itself provides a measurable, health-related benefit. NAD said Noom 'did not provide adequate support' for that message and that nothing in the decision precludes Noom from promoting its program or behavior-modification tools as a smarter start if not tied to unsupported dosage-related benefits. NAD also recorded that Noom 'permanently discontinued' all other challenged express claims (dosing, efficacy, side effect and other health-related claims), which NAD did not review on the merits. In its advertiser statement Noom said it 'disagrees with NAD's conclusion' but 'voluntarily agrees to comply with NAD's recommendation'. Lilly and Noom are described by NAD as competitors in the weight-loss market.

Government enforcement. No Federal Trade Commission or state attorney general enforcement action naming Noom was identified in the web searches run on October 14, 2026 (agency databases were not exhaustively searched; this is a scoped statement, not a finding that none exists).

Noom, Inc.: who operates Noom

The Terms name Noom, Inc. as the provider of services offered through Noom's websites and apps. Noom's About page describes the company as a 'consumer-led digital health company' that combines psychology, technology, medication and coaching, with weight management as its core focus and added programs for conditions such as diabetes and menopause. The BBB profile lists headquarters at 450 W 33rd St Fl 11, New York, NY, and names Artem Petakov (President/Co-Founder) and Saeju Jeong (Co-Founder/CEO) as management; Noom's press page, in a listing dated August 2026, refers to Geoff Cook as CEO, which differs from BBB's management listing. BBB's raw page data gives a business-start date of July 25, 2008 and an incorporation date of December 18, 2008.

Noom Med. The Terms (Section 16) state that Noom 'is not a healthcare provider', that it only provides access to independent clinical partners, laboratory providers and pharmacy partners, and that medical and pharmacy decisions are 'solely provided by those independent clinical partners and not Noom'. Section 16.4 describes a single Noom Med subscription price that may include clinical, laboratory and medication charges, with Noom acting as 'collection agent'. Noom's homepage footnote says compounded medications 'are not approved by the FDA or reviewed for quality, safety or efficacy' and that Novo Nordisk and Lilly are the only U.S. companies with FDA-approved semaglutide and tirzepatide products.

Recent company news. Noom's press page lists an item dated April 1, 2026 titled 'Noom Acquires Tailor Made Compounding' (an Axios Pro headline), described in that page's CEO interview item as a 503A pharmacy, and an announcement dated August 19, 2026 that Jim Bugden was appointed Chief Financial Officer (Noom's About page also lists him as Chief Financial Officer). Noom's page also lists a 2026 Newsweek 'Most Trusted Brands' mention; that is the company's own press listing, not our assessment.

Acquired pharmacy's FDA history. An FDA warning letter dated April 1, 2020, addressed to Tailor Made Compounding, LLC of Nicholasville, KY, states that FDA investigators who inspected the facility from August 20, 2018 to October 24, 2018 'noted serious deficiencies in your practices for producing sterile drug products'. The letter predates Noom's April 2026 acquisition and concerns the pharmacy as it was in 2018-2020; it is not a statement about current operations.

Noom: court record

Mahood / Nichols et al. v. Noom, Inc., et al., No. 1:20-cv-03677 (S.D.N.Y.). Filed May 12, 2020; defendants are Noom, Inc., Artem Petakov and John Does. On July 12, 2022 the court entered an Order and Final Judgment (Dkt. 518) confirming certification of a settlement class of natural persons who purchased a Noom Healthy Weight Subscription in the United States via the Noom website or mobile app from May 12, 2016 to October 6, 2020 (with further conditions in the order) and granting final approval. The Opinion and Order (Dkt. 519) states that the Gross Settlement Fund for class members is $56,000,000, grants $18,666,666 in attorneys' fees and $135,000 in service awards (totaling $18,801,666 deducted from the fund), and dismisses the action with prejudice. This page has not reviewed the settlement agreement's liability language.

Oliver v. Noom, Inc., No. 2:22-cv-01857 (W.D. Pa.). A putative class action under the Pennsylvania Wiretapping and Electronic Surveillance Control Act over session-replay code on Noom's website. In a Memorandum Opinion dated July 10, 2026, on Noom's renewed motion to dismiss, the court held that the plaintiff had not pleaded a concrete injury for Article III standing and stated that the remaining WESCA claim 'will be dismissed without prejudice'. The opinion is a ruling on standing, not on whether the alleged interception occurred.

The Justia docket copy opened for this page was last retrieved on July 12, 2022. Other federal dockets naming Noom exist (for example employment, trademark and individual-consumer matters); this page does not list them because the dockets reviewed did not state claims that bear on consumer subscriptions, and this is not an exhaustive search.

For current subscriptions, the specifics that matter are in the Terms and refund pages summarized above: renewal timing, the 14-day Noom Weight refund window described on Noom's help pages versus the Terms' non-refundable wording, and the arbitration opt-out window.

The Terms (Section 6.13) separately state that, other than the California rescission right, 'all fees and charges assessed by us are non-refundable except as expressly promoted by Noom and to the extent that you qualify for such promotion'.

What do Noom's Terms say about free trials?

What if I subscribed to Noom through Apple or Google?

The Terms say that for a subscription obtained through a third-party app store, the provisions on billing, cancellation/refunds and payment do not apply to the extent they conflict with that store's terms, and tell users to follow the store's cancellation instructions.

Noom's Contact Support page lists phone support at (888) 266-5071, available daily 8 AM-8 PM ET, plus 24/7 chat in the app or web Account Portal. A different number, (800) 910-7375, appears on the BBB profile and is labelled BBB-listed.

Section 13.4 names National Arbitration and Mediation (NAM) as administrator.

On May 26, 2026, BBB National Programs' NAD (Case #7539), on a challenge by Eli Lilly, recommended that Noom discontinue or modify the claim 'A Smaller Dose.
