Momentum Solar customers: how to complain and what to gather (checked October 11, 2026)
Pages opened on October 11, 2026: the company's Contact Us, FAQ and Customer Feedback pages (on internal.momentumsolar.com) and its Privacy Policy page (on www.momentumsolar.com), plus BBB and New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs pages. Some other pages on www.momentumsolar.com returned '403 Forbidden' to an automated request that day and are not quoted.
1. Use the company's own channels first. The Contact Us page says: 'For fastest support, email: [email protected]' for questions about a system, 'its performance or production', and lists the same address with 1 (888) MOMENTUM Opt. 1 for 'Change of Ownership' (buying or selling a home with a Momentum Solar system, name change, bankruptcy, death of a contract signer). If a system has not been installed, the page gives 1 (888) MOMENTUM Opt. 2 'about an appointment'. For refinancing it says to email the financing department (displayed as 'Financing @ momentumsolar.com'). The company also has a Customer Feedback form ('Tell us what you think about our service and we can work on improving the experience.'). The Privacy Policy page gives 732-902-6224 as the number to call if you believe the company is not following its privacy policy. The Contact Us page gives the headquarters mailing address as 3096 Hamilton Blvd, Building B, South Plainfield, NJ 07080. Keep your contract, any financing paperwork, dates of calls and photos.
2. Selling the home. The company's FAQ says: 'If you sell your home, you can transfer your solar agreement to the new homeowner pursuant to the terms of your solar service agreement.' The terms of your own agreement govern; the FAQ does not state warranty or cancellation terms, and none were found on the pages opened.
3. File a BBB complaint. BBB's complaints tab for this profile displays company responses to some published complaints and states 551 complaints in the last 3 years as displayed on October 11, 2026.
4. New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs. The Division's 'To File a Complaint' page offers an online or e-mail complaint against a business, and says information you submit may be subject to public disclosure under the Open Public Records Act, so it urges you not to submit sensitive personal information on its forms. The page gives 973-504-6200 as the Division's phone number. BBB lists license numbers 13VH05539000 (issued by the NJ Division of Consumer Affairs) and 34EB01591300 (Board of Examiners of Electrical Contractors) for this business; BBB encourages you to check licensing with the issuing agency.
5. Unwanted marketing calls. If your complaint is about telemarketing calls, see the TCPA settlement described below. Its claim deadline (July 31, 2025) has passed. The same Division page names ReportFraud.ftc.gov as the Federal Trade Commission's reporting route.
6. If a lender holds your solar loan. The company's FAQ says: 'Momentum Solar customers can choose to pay for their panels via cash payments, a solar lease, solar loans or a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA).' It does not name financing partners, and none are stated here. A loan is a contract with the lender, not with the installer; check your loan papers for the lender's dispute address.
Regulator and attorney general actions: what was checked
No enforcement action by a state attorney general or a federal agency naming Momentum Solar or Pro Custom Solar LLC was identified in the sources checked on October 11, 2026. Specifically: a search of the New Jersey Office of the Attorney General site for 'Momentum Solar' returned 'No Results Found', and a search of the New York Attorney General site for 'Momentum Solar' showed no matching item. The FTC and CFPB searches were not conclusive (their search pages did not return a filtered list) and are not relied on.
Several law-firm and lead-generation web pages claim that New Jersey, New York or other attorneys general have opened investigations. No primary government source for those statements was found, so they are not repeated here. An inquiry or a complaint filed with an agency is not a finding of wrongdoing.
This is a negative result for the places listed only; it is not a statement that no such action exists.
New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (program waivers, not enforcement). A BPU order dated for the January 29, 2025 agenda (agenda item 8B) addresses petitions for waiver of Administratively Determined Incentive (ADI) program eligibility rules for residential solar projects from many developers. Its appendices list 12 projects with 'Momentum Solar LLC' as developer: 8 shown with relief requested 'PTO prior to ADI conditional approval' (permission to operate before conditional approval) and 4 shown as 'Project Size Increased > 20%'. The Board states it 'HEREBY WAIVES' the cited rule provisions for qualifying petitions. These are incentive-program eligibility proceedings brought by petitioners; the order does not make findings of wrongdoing, and individual homeowner names in it are not reproduced here.
Who is Momentum Solar
BBB lists the business as Momentum Solar, a limited liability company with 'Pro Custom Solar LLC' as an alternate name, headquartered at 3096 Hamilton Blvd, South Plainfield, New Jersey. BBB's raw profile data gives a business start and incorporation date of November 1, 2009, a BBB file opened December 13, 2011, and BBB accreditation since March 24, 2015. BBB describes the business as installing residential solar PV systems and lists battery storage, solar financing, inverters and rebates among its products and services.
Entity names. In the federal TCPA class actions the defendant is captioned 'Pro Custom Solar LLC, d/b/a Momentum Solar'. A January 29, 2025 order of the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities names 'Momentum Solar LLC' as developer in program-waiver petitions (see the regulator section). Newer federal dockets on CourtListener use the caption 'Momentum Solar, LLC' (for example Rangel, D. Minn., 2026, and O'Brien, M.D. Fla., 2026) or 'Pro Custom Solar LLC' (Horowitz, D.N.J., 2026). The sources opened do not state how these names relate to each other beyond BBB's alternate-name listing, and no business-registry record was opened, so this page does not name a single legal entity.
Operating status. BBB shows the business as accredited with an A+ rating and its profile shows no information indicating a bankruptcy or closure. The company's Contact Us page, opened on October 11, 2026, publishes support hours and says: 'We're here for you throughout the lifetime of your system.' A web search on October 11, 2026 for a bankruptcy, closure or acquisition of Momentum Solar returned no primary source reporting one; this is a scoped result and not a statement about the company's finances.
Company statements. The company's FAQ says customers can pay by cash, solar lease, solar loan or Power Purchase Agreement, and that it has 'locations across seven states'; its contact page lists home-improvement license numbers for CA, CT, FL, MA, NV, NJ, NYC, PA, TX and AZ. These are the company's statements and were not checked with the issuing agencies. Warranty terms and financing partners were not found on the pages opened and are not stated.
Complaint and review record as displayed on October 11, 2026
BBB, as displayed on 2026-10-11. The BBB profile for Momentum Solar, South Plainfield, shows 'BBB Accredited Business' and a BBB rating of A+. The complaints tab shows 551 total complaints in the last 3 years and 165 filed in the last 12 months. The reviews tab shows an average of 1.71 out of 5 from 239 customer reviews. The newest complaint displayed (dated September 5, 2026, type 'Product Issues', status 'Resolved') concerns microinverters and a warranty claim; the company's response dated September 15, 2026 says service was scheduled and completed on 9/10/26, the microinverter in question was replaced, and the system was confirmed to be operating normally. BBB cautions that complaint information should be read with the company's size and transaction volume in mind. BBB complaint and review counts are different measures from the Trustpilot page and from this site's own archive and are not combined here.
Trustpilot, as displayed on 2026-10-11. The page 'Momentum Solar' (momentumsolar.com) shows 32 reviews and a score of 1.8, 7 reviews in the last 12 months, and a claimed profile. Trustpilot says the company hasn't invited customers recently, so reviews may not be representative, and that it hasn't replied to negative reviews. Trustpilot says it does not fact-check reviews.
This site's own archive. A search of this site's approved complaints on October 11, 2026 for 'Momentum Solar', 'Momentumsolar' and 'Momentum-Solar' found 0 posts. Older archive posts titled 'Momentum Direct' and 'Momentum Telecom' concern different businesses and are not linked to this page.
Lawsuits and the TCPA class settlement
TCPA class settlement (D.N.J.). Niemczyk v. Pro Custom Solar LLC, No. 2:19-cv-7846 (filed March 5, 2019), and Walters et al. v. Pro Custom Solar LLC, No. 2:22-cv-247, were litigated together before Magistrate Judge Michael A. Hammer. The plaintiffs alleged unsolicited telemarketing calls in violation of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act. The plaintiffs' memorandum says the defendant 'vigorously denies all material allegations' and has agreed to settle on the settlement's terms.
Class and terms, per the settlement website. The settlement class is all persons in the United States who received two or more telemarketing calls from Momentum or on its behalf within a 365-day period from March 5, 2015, through January 2, 2025; current or former customers are excluded. Momentum 'disputes that a class is appropriate for trial purposes'. Under the settlement agreement as described in the motion for preliminary approval, Momentum pays $22 million over fifteen years into a common fund, plus 12 percent of certain 'Liquidity Event' proceeds, with a total cap of $30 million; the memorandum also states that if $20 million is paid within seven years the obligation is deemed fully paid. Claims were limited to up to 50 calls per member and paid pro rata after attorneys' fees (up to one-third of amounts paid in), costs and administration expenses. The claim deadline was July 31, 2025, so it has passed.
Status. The docket shows preliminary approval on January 2, 2025 and an order granting final approval entered August 18, 2025 (Dkt. 179). In a letter opinion and order of October 6, 2025 the court noted the first $1,000,000 payment into the common fund was due by November 18, 2025 and resolved a dispute over who pays the claims administrator, adopting the plaintiffs' position that Momentum satisfy claims administration expenses as incurred. The settlement website says claim payments follow the 'Effective Date', which is the date all appeals are completed. Whether payments to class members have begun was not shown in the sources opened.
Other federal dockets naming the company (not exhaustive, claims not stated in the entries read). A CourtListener search on October 11, 2026 returned the following dockets, listed by caption and filing only:
- Oguekwe v. Momentum Solar, LLC, D.N.J. No. 3:25-cv-18758, filed December 18, 2025; nature of suit shown as 485, Telephone Consumer Protection Act.

- Rangel v. Momentum Solar, LLC, D. Minn. No. 0:26-cv-02368, filed April 27, 2026; the docket shows an 'MDL Pretrial Order' entry.
- Whitten v. Momentum Solar LLC, removed to W.D. Tex. No. 1:24-cv-01221 on October 11, 2024 and transferred; D. Minn. No. 0:24-cv-04011 shows an 'MDL Pretrial Order' entry on November 1, 2024.

- Williams v. Momentum Solar, LLC, M.D. Fla. No. 8:25-cv-02031, filed August 1, 2025; nature of suit shown as 446, Americans with Disabilities Act (other).
- O'Brien v. Momentum Solar, LLC, M.D. Fla. No. 6:26-cv-00809, filed April 13, 2026; the docket entries seen (summons issued April 14, 2026, standing orders, a compliance notice dated June 26, 2026) do not state the claims.
- Culbertson v. Pro Custom Solar LLC, M.D. Fla. No. 8:22-cv-02252, a TCPA class action filed October 3, 2022: administratively closed and stayed on October 3, 2024 in view of the D.N.J. settlement; on May 7, 2026 the court lifted the stay and directed the Clerk to reopen the case and the plaintiffs to show cause why it should not be dismissed. The docket then shows a notice of settlement (May 21, 2026) and entries labelled 'Order Dismissing Case' (May 22, 2026 and July 24, 2026). The text of those entries was not available in the sources opened, so the terms and whether dismissal was with or without prejudice are not stated.
Filing of a lawsuit is an allegation, not a finding. Employment-related and individual-plaintiff matters are not consumer-complaint findings and are not summarized.
