Complaint record: BBB and Trustpilot

BBB (profile for Midjourney, Inc., South San Francisco, CA), as displayed on 2026-10-20: not BBB accredited; BBB Rating F. BBB lists as reasons for the rating 'Failure to respond to 4 complaint(s) filed against business' and '45 complaint(s) filed against business.' The complaints tab shows 44 complaints in the last 3 years and 4 in the last 12 months. The reviews tab shows 1 out of 5 stars, an average of 10 customer reviews. BBB page data gives a file-opened date of 2023-03-31. Excerpts of BBB reviews describe an account blocked after paying for a subscription, an appeal rejected without explanation, and remaining credits deleted after a subscription ended; these are reviewers' statements.

Trustpilot (midjourney.com), as displayed on 2026-10-20: 1.7 from 374 reviews, 95 of them in the last 12 months; the star bars show 76 percent one-star and 10 percent five-star. The profile is shown as claimed since June 2023, with the page showing 'Replied to 14% of negative reviews' and 'Typically replies within 2 weeks.' Trustpilot also displays 'No recent history of asking for reviews' and the notice 'This company hasn't invited customers recently, so reviews may not be representative.' A review from September 2026 describes two accounts blocked after renewal with an automated-use message and no response to appeals; Trustpilot labels it an unprompted review.

These two sources are shown separately and are not added together. Neither measures how many customers are satisfied, and review counts are small next to a consumer subscription service. No published complaint reports are currently linked to this profile.

Midjourney complaints: cancel, refund, billing and account blocks

This page was checked on 2026-10-20 against Midjourney's own help center (docs.midjourney.com), BBB and Trustpilot. Midjourney is a subscription service; the steps on this page are quoted or paraphrased from the company's own pages, and the BBB and Trustpilot figures are in the complaint-record section.

  • Cancel. The help article 'Canceling Your Subscription' says you can cancel at any time from your Manage Subscription Page by clicking the Cancel Plan button, that cancellation 'will become effective at the end of your current billing cycle,' and that you keep access until then.
    More detailShow less

The article on automatic renewals says: 'All Midjourney subscriptions are set to renew automatically' and 'disabling automatic renewals entirely isn't an option,' so cancel before each renewal date. The help article 'Finding Your Renewal Time' says subscriptions 'renew monthly based on the date you originally subscribed,' that the date is shown by the info command in Discord or on the Manage Subscription Page, and that the renewal time 'may vary up to an hour' from what Discord shows. If an upgrade or downgrade is scheduled, the Canceling article says to cancel that change first with the Cancel Change button; it also says canceling 'does not delete your generated images or account history.'

  • Refund. The article 'Requesting a Refund' says you are eligible 'only if you've used less than 20 GPU minutes throughout the lifetime of your account,' that a qualifying account sees the refund option when it cancels ('If you don't see the refund option, we're unable to provide a refund'), that processing 'may take up to 10 business days,' and that eligibility 'does not apply if your account is suspended or terminated due to a violation' of the Terms or Community Guidelines. Terms section 8 says: 'You will not be refunded for the current subscription period, but You will not be charged after the current subscription period has ended.'
  • Billing support. The company's help center says to email [email protected] and to include your Midjourney ID (shown on the Account Settings page, or by the /userid command in Discord).
  • Charge you do not recognize. The article 'Reporting an Unauthorized Charge' lists the details billing support asks for (amount, date and time, card type, issuing bank, last four digits, expiration date). A card issuer or a payment-app provider also has its own dispute process.
  • Blocked or banned account. Terms section 8 says the company reserves the right to terminate access 'for any reason, including for violation of the Community Guidelines.' The Community Guidelines (edited 2025-12-05) say: 'Any violations of these rules may lead to bans from our services,' and that anyone attempting to violate them using the Editor 'will face suspension or banning without refund.' Terms section 4 says: 'You may not use automated tools to access, interact with, or generate Assets through the Services.' A search of the help center for 'appeal' on 2026-10-20 returned no appeal article.
    More detailShow less

Several BBB and Trustpilot reviewers say they used an appeal form and did not receive an explanation (these are their statements, not findings).

  • Formal complaints. You can file with BBB (a complaint is published on the BBB profile described on this page), the FTC (reportfraud.ftc.gov) or your state attorney general. Terms section 6 contains an arbitration clause (see the legitimacy section) and sends disputes first through a 30-day good-faith period.

Who operates Midjourney

The Terms of Service (version effective May 27, 2026) are an agreement between Midjourney, Inc. and the user. BBB lists Midjourney, Inc. in the category Artificial Intelligence, product line 'Software as a service,' type of entity 'Corporation,' at 611 Gateway Blvd Ste 120, South San Francisco, CA 94080-7066, and names a 'Manager of Client Services' as business contact. BBB's page data gives a business-start date of 2007-04-24 and a BBB file-opened date of 2023-03-31; BBB does not say what the 2007 date represents, so we do not treat it as the year the image service launched.

On the plan, the Terms say the user owns the assets they create 'to the fullest extent possible under applicable law,' with the exception that a company with more than $1,000,000 USD a year in revenue 'must be subscribed to a "Pro" or "Mega" plan to own Your Assets.' See the company's 'Comparing Midjourney Plans' help article for plan prices.

Midjourney's court filings list David Holz as an interested party (Warner Bros. docket, Dkt. 16, October 7, 2025; EVOX docket, Dkt. 19, September 4, 2026); we state only what those entries say. Registry searches (USPTO, California Secretary of State) were not completed and are not relied on.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who operates Midjourney?

The Terms of Service effective May 27, 2026 are an agreement between Midjourney, Inc. and the user. BBB lists Midjourney, Inc. at 611 Gateway Blvd Ste 120, South San Francisco, CA 94080-7066 (read 2026-10-20).

How do I cancel a Midjourney subscription?

Midjourney's help center says to log in, open the Manage Subscription Page and click Cancel Plan; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing cycle and access continues until then. The company says all subscriptions renew automatically and that turning off automatic renewal entirely is not an option, so cancel before each renewal date. Renewals happen monthly on the original subscription date (the help article 'Finding Your Renewal Time'); the info command in Discord or the Manage Subscription Page shows the exact time. If an upgrade or downgrade is scheduled, cancel that change first with the Cancel Change button.

Can I get a refund from Midjourney?

The company's 'Requesting a Refund' article says refunds are available 'only if you've used less than 20 GPU minutes throughout the lifetime of your account,' and that the option appears when you cancel if you qualify. It adds that refund eligibility does not apply to accounts suspended or terminated for violating the Terms or Community Guidelines. Terms section 8 says the current subscription period is not refunded. The article adds that if the refund option does not appear, the company is unable to provide a refund, and that processing may take up to 10 business days; on an error message it says to wait an hour and try again because the renewal payment might still be processing.

What can I do if my Midjourney account is blocked?

Terms section 8 reserves the company's right to terminate access 'for any reason, including for violation of the Community Guidelines.' The Community Guidelines say violations 'may lead to bans from our services,' and Terms section 4 prohibits using 'automated tools to access, interact with, or generate Assets through the Services.' A help-center search for 'appeal' on 2026-10-20 returned no appeal article, and we do not describe an appeal procedure. Reviewers on BBB and Trustpilot describe blocks after paying and appeals without a clear answer (their statements). You can also email [email protected] about a charge, and file a complaint with BBB, the FTC or your state attorney general.

How do I contact Midjourney billing support?

The help center article 'Contacting Support' says: 'For billing inquiries, please email [email protected],' and asks you to include your Midjourney ID, shown on the Account Settings page or through the /userid command in Discord.

What do BBB and Trustpilot show for Midjourney?

As displayed on 2026-10-20: BBB shows a rating of F, not accredited, 44 complaints in the last 3 years and 4 in the last 12 months, and 1 out of 5 across 10 customer reviews. Trustpilot shows 1.7 from 374 reviews, 95 of them in the last 12 months, with a notice that the company has not invited customers recently. The sources are not combined.

What should I do about a charge I do not recognize from Midjourney?

The company's help article lists the details billing support needs: exact amount and currency, date and time with time zone, card type, issuing country and bank, last four digits and expiration date, and says it can generally resolve such cases 'faster than your bank can.' You may also contact your card issuer about the charge.

Is Midjourney being sued?

CourtListener dockets read on 2026-10-20 show Disney Enterprises Inc. v. Midjourney Inc. (C.D. Cal., No. 2:25-cv-05275, filed June 11, 2025, consolidated with the Warner Bros. case on November 4, 2025 and still pending) and EVOX Productions LLC v. Midjourney, Inc. (C.D. Cal., No. 2:26-cv-08408, complaint filed July 30, 2026; entries labelled 'Dismiss Case' and 'For Judicial Notice' on October 5, 2026, no ruling seen).
