Micron and Crucial complaints: warranty after the consumer shutdown and where to complain
This page was checked on 2026-10-20. Micron Technology, Inc. sold consumer memory and SSDs under the Crucial brand. Its press release of December 3, 2025 says Micron decided "to exit the Crucial consumer business", would "continue Crucial consumer product shipments through the consumer channel until the end of fiscal Q2 (February 2026)" and "will provide continued warranty service and support for Crucial products." The crucial.com homepage carries the same notice and adds that Crucial consumer products "may continue to be available for purchase from distributors and resellers for some time."
The inner pages of crucial.com (Warranty, Contact support) returned 'Error 429 - Too Many Requests' to our automated browser that day, so we did not read the current warranty terms, claim steps or contact details and do not quote them here. The crucial.com footer links to 'Warranty' and 'Contact support' pages; use those for the current procedure.
- Keep proof. Keep the order confirmation or receipt, the product's model and serial number, and screenshots or emails of any support exchange.
- Bought from a retailer. Ask the seller about its own return window, which is separate from any manufacturer warranty.
- BBB. BBB accepts complaints against the business through its profile (see the complaint-record section for the figures as displayed).
- Government routes. We did not open the FTC or state attorney general complaint pages for this profile, so they are not quoted here.
One BBB complaint dated 05/15/2026 and shown with status 'Unanswered' is a consumer's account that, after the exit, Crucial reported no stock for a like-for-like warranty replacement of a portable SSD and offered a different product instead. It is one consumer's allegation as displayed by BBB; we did not verify it or sample others.

Lawsuits disclosed in Micron's 2026 annual report
Micron's Form 10-K for the fiscal year ended September 3, 2026 (Note 11, Contingencies) describes the matters below. They are allegations or procedural facts as Micron reports them; we did not review the court dockets.
DRAM purchaser class action. "On June 25, 2026, certain individuals and businesses filed a putative class action complaint in N.D. Cal. against Micron, Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. and one of its subsidiaries, and SK hynix Inc. and one of its subsidiaries, on behalf of a putative class of purchasers of DRAM products," alleging the defendants conspired to restrict supply of, and fix prices for, DRAM in violation of the Sherman Act and state laws, for a period beginning October 26, 2022. A similar complaint by an individual was filed in the District of Hawaii on July 17, 2026. The filing does not report a ruling, and a complaint is not a finding of liability.
Patent disputes. The same note lists patent infringement suits against Micron by YMTC and other plaintiffs concerning DRAM, NAND, SSD and HBM products. These are business disputes between companies. The note says Netlist, Inc. and Micron agreed on October 5, 2026 to dismiss all litigation claims against each other under settlement and license agreements. It also says that on October 6, 2026 the Munich Regional Court issued written rulings, in YMTC cases, requiring Micron to stop offering, marketing or importing the accused 3D NAND products in Germany, that further proceedings on other asserted rights are set for June and September 2027, and that Micron has appealed the ruling on two utility models. Other patent cases, including YMTC in the U.S. and BeSang (on appeal), are reported as pending. The note also reports that on August 13, 2026 a federal court granted Micron's and a co-defendant's motions to dismiss a Lanham Act complaint YMTC filed in the District of Columbia, and that YMTC filed a notice of appeal on August 24, 2026.
