Med Loan Finance: how it works, the processing fee and how to complain (checked October 12, 2026)

Med Loan Finance is a website that takes medical-financing applications (cosmetic surgery, dental, fertility, bariatric, hospital bills and similar) and passes them to outside lenders. Its own providers page says it is not a lender: “We choose to operate as a loan processing company that is not affiliated with any one particular lender or lender partner”. People who search the name usually want to know what the fee is, who actually lends the money, and whether the fee can be refunded. Everything below was read on October 12, 2026.

What the company and BBB say about the fee and the lenders:

  • Fee: the home page says “Med Loan Finance Fee is Based on Program Selected” and that terms “Depends on Applicants Credit and Lendor”. BBB’s profile says the company “charges a processing fee” and that, per a fee schedule last confirmed by BBB in 2012, fees “range from $89.10 to $1,995.00 based on program selected and loan amount”. The current fee chart is in the online application, which was not opened for this page.
  • How the fee is charged: BBB quotes the company’s fee statement: the processing fee “will be billed against the account selected on this application whether for the full amount you requested or less than the full request” and “If approved for more than requested, fees will be based on loan amount requested.” BBB also quotes the application wording that “while calculated monthly, I understand that the total amount of the fees will be added to my base loan amount requested and become a part of my principal balance in most cases”. On Trustpilot the company wrote (September 12, 2018): “All fees are either paid by provider or agreed to by the consumer on the Loan Search Form.”
  • Refunds: BBB lists the company’s refund policy as: “once conditions are met and your card is charged that their fees are non-refundable”.
  • Who lends: BBB describes the lenders as “banks, finance companies and credit card issuers”, and the loan may be a credit card. The company’s FAQ lists available terms of “12, 24, 36, 48 and 60 months or a revolving credit line”. The company site says the application is presented to its lending partners; the lender, not Med Loan Finance, sets rate and terms (the application wording BBB quotes says the company “does not approve, deny, set the rate and terms, guarantee loan approvals”).
  • Credit check: according to the application wording BBB quotes, the applicant authorizes “Med Loan Finance” and/or its “affiliated lending partners” to run a credit report, and the credit request “may be presented to multiple credit issuing companies”.
  • Dispute clause: the same BBB-quoted application wording says: “I agree to ‘hold harmless’ ‘Med Loan Finance’ from any and all legal actions that might be taken as a result of a disputed matter with my Service Provider or Vendor.” Read the full application before signing.
  • Process and time: the site says an initial decision should come “in a few minutes” and that other lenders “take up to 1 business day”; it also says it does not process applications from New Hampshire residents.

Practical steps before applying or when disputing: ask in writing which lender will extend the credit, whether it is a loan or a credit card, the total processing fee in dollars, and whether the fee is added to the balance; keep the application and fee screens. Phone 800-504-4053 and email [email protected] are the contacts on the company’s own contact page. For a dispute with the lender or card issuer, use the issuer’s billing-dispute process shown on your statement. Complaints about a financial product can be filed with the CFPB at consumerfinance.gov/complaint (the CFPB says it forwards complaints to the company) and about business practices with the FTC at reportfraud.ftc.gov and your state attorney general. BBB says the company is licensed with the Kansas Office of the State Bank Commissioner; complaints about a Kansas-licensed business can also go to that office.

Who runs Med Loan Finance

Who operates it. BBB’s profile says “Axford Enterprises Inc. doing business as Med Loan Finance” and lists the entity type as a corporation, with alternate names Axford Enterprises, Inc. and MedLoanFinance.com. BBB lists the principal contact as Jim Axford, Owner/President, and an Overland Park, Kansas address. The company’s website pages read for this profile (home, contact, FAQ, providers, privacy, credit application) name only “Med Loan Finance”; they carry no corporate name, street address or license number, and their footer reads “Copyright © 2023”.

License. BBB states the entity “is actively licensed with the Kansas Office of The State Bank Commissioner. License number NOT.0025617 (Verified as of May 26, 2017)”. The current status of license NOT.0025617 was not confirmed in the OSBC license lookup for this page: the OSBC website opened on October 12, 2026, but its lookup requires accepting a Kansas Open Records Act use statement before searching and was not used. The 2017 verification date is BBB’s.

Dates (from BBB page data). BBB file opened March 13, 2009; business start January 1, 2002; incorporated January 14, 1993. The BBB “Years in Business” figure is derived by BBB from these fields.

What it does. The home page lists financing for plastic and cosmetic surgery, infertility and fertility, bariatric procedures, weight loss, dental, LASIK, dermatology, hair transplant, hospital bills, insurance co-payments, adoption, funerals and medical tourism, in amounts “from $500 to $100,000”, and advertises options such as 12–18 months interest free “Depends on Applicants Credit and Lendor”. The FAQ describes a bank program under which interest paid is rebated by check if the loan is repaid within a year. A providers page invites medical offices to enroll and says there are “NO ENROLLMENT FEES, NO ANNUAL FEES”. A Business Loans / Leases page accepts applications by fax or phone. These are the company’s own statements and were not independently tested.

Complaint record: BBB, Trustpilot, CFPB lookup, our archive (as displayed October 12, 2026)

  • BBB (as displayed October 12, 2026): rating A+; “NOT BBB Accredited”. Complaints tab: “1 complaint in the last 3 years. 0 complaints filed in the last 12 months”; no complaint text was published. Reviews tab: “Average of 1 Customer Review” shown as 1 out of 5. The one review (Tamara R., December 1, 2023) alleges that her request was for a loan, that it was split onto two separate credit cards she did not want, and that she was charged “$500 plus” in fees for the first card and “another $800” for the second. Med Loan Finance replied on December 5, 2023 that the consumer “applied for credit, not only a LOAN”, that the option selected states “This Program may include Credit Cards”, and that “The fees charged were electronically agreed to by the consumer on the Loan Search Form.” These are one consumer’s account and the company’s reply; BBB’s reviews tab says it “does not verify the accuracy of information provided by third parties”.
  • Trustpilot (as displayed October 12, 2026): a claimed profile (since September 2018) with 1 review, shown as a 3.2 average, 0 reviews in the last 12 months, and Trustpilot’s notice that the company has not invited customers recently so reviews may not be representative. The single review (April 24, 2017, 1 star) alleges that the fee is charged “whether you get a credit card or not” and that no refunds are given. The company’s reply (September 12, 2018) says that it “offers both traditional loans and credit cards for medical purposes”, that all fees “are either paid by provider or agreed to by the consumer on the Loan Search Form”, and that it is licensed with the Kansas Office of the State Bank Commissioner, NOT.0025617.
  • CFPB complaint database: on October 12, 2026 the database’s company-name suggestion tool returned no match for “Med Loan”, and full-text searches for “med loan finance”, “medloanfinance” and “axford enterprises” each returned 0 complaints (database last indexed October 11, 2026). Company names are as registered by companies and text search covers narrative fields, so this is a statement about those queries only.
  • usacomplaints.com archive: no approved complaint on this site names Med Loan Finance or Axford Enterprises as of October 12, 2026, so none are linked to this page.

The few public records found are too limited to draw conclusions from. An absence of records means none were found in the sources checked on this date.

Court dockets and regulator records

Court dockets. A CourtListener RECAP search for the exact phrase “Axford Enterprises” on October 12, 2026 returned two dockets: Morgan v. Axford Enterprises, Inc. and Barbero v. Regional Recovery Services, Inc. (W.D. Mo.). Both are described below; neither docket entry text read for this page mentions Med Loan Finance by name.

Morgan v. Axford Enterprises, Inc. The docket page shows only case metadata and no docket entries: N.D. Illinois, 1:13-cv-06537, nature of suit “480 Consumer credit”, filed September 12, 2013, terminated May 28, 2014. The claims, the role of the defendant and the reason for termination are not shown and could not be read. The defendant’s name matches the name BBB lists for Med Loan Finance’s operator, but the docket does not state any business or address, so this page does not assert that it concerns the same company.

Barbero v. Regional Recovery Services, Inc. W.D. Missouri, 6:17-cv-03379, filed December 1, 2017 by a pro se plaintiff, Theresa Marie Barbero; nature of suit “370 Other Fraud”, jurisdiction listed as diversity. The CourtListener parties page lists James Axford as a defendant (alongside Regional Recovery Services, Inc., Robert Schumann and Tom Hyberger) and “Axford Enteprises, Inc.” (the docket’s spelling) as an interested party; some docket entries also refer to Axford Enterprises as a party in a defendant capacity. Entries read: on June 27, 2018 the court dismissed without prejudice the claims against Schumann and Hyberger, and the claims against Regional Recovery Services, Inc. and “Jim Axford” “with the exception of Plaintiff’s claim pursuant to 15 U.S.C. Sec. 1681b(f) for violation of the Fair Credit Reporting Act, which may proceed”; on June 28, 2018 a notice of bankruptcy was filed by James Axford; on August 21, 2018 the court denied his motion to dismiss but ordered “STAYING case as it pertains to Defendant James Axford Pending Disposition of Bankruptcy Proceedings”; on October 30, 2018 the court entered an “Order of Dismissal without prejudice” and a clerk’s judgment followed on November 6, 2018. The docket texts read do not describe the underlying facts, and no finding of liability appears. The docket does not state a relationship between these parties and Med Loan Finance, and this page does not assert one; the only connection on the docket is the names James Axford (the principal BBB lists for Med Loan Finance) and Axford Enterprises, Inc. (the operator name BBB lists).

No regulator enforcement action against Med Loan Finance or Axford Enterprises was identified in the sources checked on October 12, 2026 (CourtListener, BBB, CFPB complaint-database company lookup); the OSBC license lookup was not used (see Who runs Med Loan Finance).
