Private equity firm L Catterton became majority owner in 2015 when it acquired the multi-brand Steiner Leisure company, which then owned Ideal Image. TPG Growth reportedly took a minority stake around May 2021. Corporate credit filings referred to the parent holding entity as "Ideal Topco."

In September 2025, a credit-reporting service noted that Ideal Image's debt had been placed on non-accrual status by at least one lender, a signal of serious financial distress. As of August 2026, the profile showed 776 complaints filed in the prior three years (274 closed in the prior 12 months) and 280 customer reviews averaging 1.08 out of 5 stars.

Ideal Image agreed to a proposed $3.5 million class-action settlement, Minano v. Ideal Image Development Corp. (Case No. 25-CA-011075, 13th Judicial Circuit, Hillsborough County, FL), to resolve allegations that it used Meta's tracking pixel to share website visitors' activity with Facebook without adequate consent. The company did not admit wrongdoing. A Final Approval Hearing was scheduled for June 17, 2026, but as of this review no Final Approval Order has been published on the official settlement site, which still describes the fund as pending court approval -- so this should be treated as an agreed, not-yet-finally-approved settlement rather than a fully closed case.
