Hungryroot: skip, pause, cancel, delivery problems and contacts

The deadline that matters. Every change must be made before your shopping window closes: editing or skipping a delivery, pausing or canceling, and changing the delivery day, plan size, address, card or Food Profile.

More detailShow less

The Terms of Use set the cut-off at 11:59 pm in the time zone of your delivery address on the Renewal Date, unless the Orders section of your account shows a different time. If you do nothing by then, the Terms let Hungryroot fill your order with recommended items, and the plan renews and is charged automatically. Your Renewal Date is shown under Plan Settings in your account. An order marked "Processed" can no longer be canceled, and you pay for it. Close to the cut-off, make the change yourself in your account, because a reply to a text or email may come too late. If your window has only just closed, text 855-222-5704 and Hungryroot will check whether the order can still be stopped.

  • Skip. Go to Orders, then Upcoming, and select Skip under the delivery; for the next delivery you can also select Manage under its date, then Skip this Delivery. Hungryroot's help center says you can skip up to 3 weeks of deliveries.
  • Pause. Pause the subscription for up to 8 weeks at hungryroot.com/cancel, the same link used for canceling.
  • Cancel. Use hungryroot.com/cancel before the window closes; Hungryroot sends a confirmation email, so keep it. If your first delivery has not arrived yet, text 855-222-5704 before the window closes.
    More detailShow less

After the first delivery, the Terms say you can cancel online in your account or by emailing [email protected]. A cancellation sent after the cut-off applies only to orders that have not yet been processed.

Contact. Start with the chatbot (icon in the bottom-right corner of the site), which can pass your request to a person, or text a person at 855-222-5704. Staff typically answer within 48 hours, often sooner, and work 10am to 6pm ET every day except July 4, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day. Email: [email protected].

Customer service phone number. Hungryroot's contact page gives no customer service phone number. BBB lists (855) 222-0670 for the business, but support is set up around chat, text and email, so get any cancellation in writing.

More detailShow less

The number 1-251-241-5671 on the accessibility page is for screen reader users having trouble with the website. Pages on other sites advertise 917 numbers for canceling Hungryroot. Those numbers are not on Hungryroot's contact page, Terms of Use or accessibility page, so do not give them card or account details.

Damaged, missing or spoiled items. Report an order that arrives damaged, with missing items or warm within 48 hours of delivery, through Hungryroot's delivery help page or at [email protected], the address the Terms name. Include your order details, and photos if you can. The Terms say Hungryroot, at its sole discretion, may issue a credit, a replacement or a refund. Refund requests must be made within 30 days of the delivery date and are decided case by case; refunds take 10 to 15 business days to process and go to your payment method, and groceries cannot be returned.

Credits. Plan credits you do not use roll over and expire 60 days after your last delivered order, even if you cancel, and you still pay the full plan price when credits are unused.

More detailShow less

The Terms treat customer care credits, gift card balances and referral rewards separately, as an Account Balance described in your Wallet. Reward Credits are forfeited when you cancel.

If it is not resolved. For a charge you believe you canceled in time, send Hungryroot your cancellation confirmation email first. If that fails, you can dispute the charge with your card issuer; for a credit card, federal law gives you 60 days from the date the statement showing the charge was sent, so do not wait.

You can also file a complaint with BBB, report the problem to the Federal Trade Commission at ReportFraud.ftc.gov, or contact the New York Attorney General, where Hungryroot is based, or your own state attorney general's consumer protection office. If you think a spoiled or recalled item made someone ill, report it to your local health department or an FDA consumer complaint coordinator. Keep order confirmations, screenshots of your account and all support messages. No published complaint reports are currently linked to this profile.

Court record: Molenda v. HungryRoot, Inc. (S.D.N.Y.)

Molenda v. HungryRoot, Inc., No. 1:23-cv-00678, was filed in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York on January 26, 2023 as a proposed class action. One of the plaintiff's law firms, Milberg, describes her as a former Hungryroot subscriber in California who says she signed up at a promotional price without realizing she was enrolling in an automatic renewal program, believed she had canceled, and was charged again. The complaint alleged that Hungryroot renewed subscriptions without the disclosures and consent required by California's Automatic Renewal Law and made canceling unreasonably hard. For California subscribers who paid renewal charges, it sought damages, restitution, declaratory and injunctive relief, and attorneys' fees.

More on the lawsuitsShow less

The plaintiff filed a Notice of Voluntary Dismissal on April 18, 2023, and the case was closed on April 19, 2023, without prejudice. No court ruled on the claims, and the allegations were never proven. The current Terms of Use say California residents may cancel at any time, online if they signed up online, and that Hungryroot sends active subscribers an annual reminder of the charges and how to cancel, as California Business and Professions Code Section 17602 requires.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I cancel Hungryroot?

Cancel before your shopping window closes (11:59 pm in your delivery address's time zone on the Renewal Date, unless your account shows another time) at hungryroot.com/cancel; you will get a confirmation email. If your first delivery has not arrived yet, text 855-222-5704 before the window closes. After it, you can cancel online in your account or by emailing [email protected]. An order already marked "Processed" cannot be canceled. If you only need a break, the same link lets you pause for up to 8 weeks instead.

How do I skip a Hungryroot delivery?

Before your shopping window closes, go to Orders, then Upcoming, and select Skip under the delivery. For the next delivery you can also select Manage under its date, then Skip this Delivery. You can skip several weeks ahead, or pause the subscription for up to 8 weeks. If you miss the cut-off, the plan renews and is charged, and the Terms let Hungryroot fill the order with recommended items if you have not edited it.

What is the Hungryroot deadline for changes?

You can skip, pause, cancel or change the delivery day, plan size, address, card or Food Profile until your shopping window closes. The Terms of Use put that cut-off at 11:59 pm in your delivery address's time zone on the Renewal Date, unless the Orders section of your account shows a different time. Your Renewal Date is listed under Plan Settings.

How do I contact Hungryroot?

Use the chatbot (bottom-right icon on the site), which can hand your request to a person, or text a person at 855-222-5704. Staff work 10am to 6pm ET every day except July 4, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day, and typically reply within 48 hours, often sooner. The Terms of Use also list [email protected] for refunds, cancellations and damaged or missing items. Close to your order cut-off, make changes yourself in your account rather than waiting for a reply.

What if a Hungryroot order arrives damaged, missing items or spoiled?

Report it within 48 hours of delivery through Hungryroot's delivery help page or at [email protected], with your order details and photos if you can; the Terms of Use set that deadline for damaged, missing or temperature-compromised orders. The Terms say Hungryroot, at its sole discretion, may give a credit, a replacement or a refund. Refunds must be requested within 30 days of delivery and take 10 to 15 business days to process.

Do Hungryroot credits expire?

Under the Terms of Use, plan credits you do not use during a plan period roll over to the next one and expire 60 days after the date of your last delivered order. Canceling does not erase them, but the same 60-day expiry still applies, and you still pay the full plan price when credits are unused. Customer care credits, gift card balances and referral rewards are treated separately, as an Account Balance described in your Wallet. Reward Credits are forfeited when you cancel.

Do Hungryroot's terms require arbitration?

The Terms of Use (last updated August 2026) require binding individual arbitration of most disputes before National Arbitration and Mediation (NAM) and include a class action waiver. You and Hungryroot can still bring an individual case in small claims court. Before arbitration, you must email a written notice to [email protected] with your name, the email address on your account, a detailed description of the problem and how you want it resolved, and take part in a phone or video meeting; arbitration can start only if the claim is not resolved within 60 days of that email. You can opt out by emailing a signed notice to [email protected] by May 19, 2026 or within 30 days of electronically accepting the Terms, whichever is later. The notice must state that you reject the arbitration provision, identify the Terms by date, and include your name and address.

What do BBB and Trustpilot show for Hungryroot?

BBB rates Hungry Root A+, lists it as Accredited since January 28, 2026, and shows 259 complaints in the last 3 years and 125 customer reviews. Trustpilot shows 4.1 out of 5 from 7,401 reviews on a profile the company has claimed. The two sources measure different things, so their figures are not combined.

Where is the Hungryroot corporate office?

The corporate office address BBB lists is 7 W 22nd St Fl 6, New York, NY 10010. The Terms of Use give no mailing address for customers and send refund and cancellation requests to [email protected].

What is the Hungryroot customer service phone number and email address?

Hungryroot does not publish a customer service phone number on its contact page; use the chatbot on the site or text a person at 855-222-5704. The customer service email address is [email protected]. BBB lists (855) 222-0670 for the business, and 1-251-241-5671 on the accessibility page is for screen reader users having trouble with the website.

The plaintiff voluntarily dismissed the case on April 18, 2023, without prejudice, and no court ruled on the claims. How do I get a refund from Hungryroot?

Email [email protected] within 30 days of the delivery date; for a damaged, missing or warm order, report it within 48 hours of delivery. The Terms of Use say refunds of all or part of the plan fee are decided case by case, and groceries cannot be returned.
