Hollis Cobb Associates: how to dispute a debt and where to complain

This page was checked on 2026-10-18. Hollis Cobb Associates, Inc. calls itself a revenue cycle company for healthcare providers, and BBB lists it under Collections Agencies. A collection agency is a different business from the hospital, clinic or lab that provided the service; the agency's letter or call should name the original creditor.

• Company contact. The Contact Us page on holliscobb.com lists "For Letter/Billing Inquiries (678) 606-5537" and a headquarters at 3175 Satellite Boulevard, Building 600, Suite 400, Duluth, GA 30096. The site has a "Pay Your Bill" link that points to personapay.com/holliscobb; we did not open that payment page. The pages we read on holliscobb.com are aimed at healthcare clients, and we found no separate consumer dispute form among them. The company's Consumer & State Disclosures page also lists a toll-free number, (800) 336-0299, with hours of Monday to Friday 8:00am to 4:00pm Eastern, and says Spanish-speaking agents are available by phone on request. The home page links a "Statement Portal" (statements.holliscobb.com) next to "Pay Your Bill"; we did not open the portal. The Compliance page invites questions or concerns about company compliance by e-mail; see that page for the address.
• What the CFPB says to expect. On its page "What should I do when a debt collector contacts me?" (last reviewed Oct 15, 2026) the CFPB says a collector is, in general, legally required to give the creditor's name, the amount owed and how to dispute the debt, during the first communication or within five days of it. It adds that "in certain situations, you only have 30 days after you're contacted to ask for certain information" and that you can ask the collector for any evidence it relies on and notify it in writing to stop communicating with you.
• Keep records. Keep the letter, the date of each call and any proof of payment, such as a cancelled check or a payer's explanation of benefits.
• Complaint routes. The CFPB takes debt collection complaints through consumerfinance.gov/complaint. State attorneys general and the Federal Trade Commission also take complaints about collectors. BBB accepts complaints through the company's BBB profile.

One BBB customer review reads: "Trying to send a certified Debt Validation letter and they won't give me a physical mailing address, keep saying a PO # but cannot send a cerified letter to a PO." That is one consumer's statement, and we did not verify it. BBB lists both a Duluth street address and a Norcross PO box; the company's Contact page lists the Duluth address and, on the pages we read, no PO box. The address printed on your notice is the one to check first.

BBB lists Hollis Cobb Associates, Inc., type of entity Corporation. The company's own About Us and Consumer & State Disclosures pages use the form "Hollis Cobb Associates, LLC.", and newer federal dockets name "Hollis Cobb Associates, LLC"; we did not check a Georgia Secretary of State record, so this page does not state which form is the current registered entity. BBB's listing gives headquarters at 3175 Satellite Blvd, Duluth, GA 30096 and a second address for the same file at PO Box 279, Norcross, GA 30091 (read 2026-10-18). BBB's raw page data gives a business start of 1977-03-04 and an incorporation date of 1977-04-04. BBB also lists BBB-accredited status since 2015-05-22 and management named as Alan L. Cobb, Chairperson, and Michael B. Cobb, Vice Chairperson.

The company's history page says that in 1977 it "Opened First all Healthcare Collection Agency in the Greater Atlanta Region". The home page describes services in front-end solutions (such as patient access and pre-service collections), active accounts receivable, and bad debt solutions (primary and secondary collections and legal collections). These are the company's statements.

BBB lists these alternate names: First South Business Administrative, Retail Account Bureau, Patient Account Bureau, North Georgia Credit Services and P.A.B. Federal dockets name "Hollis Cobb Associates, Inc. doing business as Patient Accounts Bureau" (with an s) and, in one case, "Medical Division of Hollis Cobb". A consumer's notice may carry one of these names instead of Hollis Cobb Associates.

The company's history page lists acquisitions it made: Bonded Collection Corp. (BCC) in Chicago in 2012; Diversified Accounts Systems and Bibb Collection Services, two Georgia healthcare collection companies, in 2013; the MedCore bad debt division from the SSI Group in 2014; Healthcare Financial Services, LLC in 2016; and Gragil Associates, Inc. and Audit Billing Center, Inc. in 2021. These are the company's statements, and a notice could carry one of those names.

The BBB profile's "Additional Info" says: "Hollis Cobb is a collection Service that has ties to other companies as its entities. Diversified Accounts System and Bibb Collection Service and Brent Stamps Attorney at Law are all located at the same address of 4366 Park Drive, Norcross, GA. They also have ties to Bonded Collection Corporation in Chicago, IL." BBB's text names Norcross as headquarters and gives the 4366 Park Drive address, while the BBB Overview and the company's Contact page list the Duluth address; the Park Drive address is not shown as current here. The company's own history page describes the 2013 acquisition of Diversified Accounts Systems and Bibb Collection Services.

Three review excerpts shown on the profile describe a hospital bill the reviewer did not receive, a payment the reviewer says was made without written confirmation, and repeated calls in a day.

This site's archive. One approved post from 2016 names Hollis Cobb in its offender line together with Diversified Account Systems and a hospital. The author describes a bill that, in the author's words, had been paid and was sent to collections, and says that a request for a response was told to send an email. The post is one consumer's account. It names several businesses, so it is linked to this page as a mention and not counted as a complaint about Hollis Cobb alone. We also found no Trustpilot page for holliscobb.com on 2026-10-18.

A CourtListener search of case names for "Hollis Cobb", as displayed on 2026-10-18, returned 60 federal dockets. Dockets name a defendant; they do not establish what the court decided, and a name match does not by itself show that every docket concerns this company. We reviewed the end of three dockets in the Northern District of Georgia. Allegations in a complaint are claims, not findings.

• Franklin v. Hollis Cobb Associates Inc., 1:21-cv-02075, filed May 14, 2021, listed as a Telephone Consumer Protection Act case. The company answered in August 2021 and moved for summary judgment on February 7, 2022. On January 18, 2023 the court ordered the case administratively closed and directed the parties to file documents to dispose of it within 60 days. We did not see a ruling on the summary judgment motion or a stated settlement in the docket entries we read.
• Jackson v. Hollis Cobb Associates, Inc., 1:24-cv-00161, filed January 11, 2024, nature of suit listed as consumer credit and cause of action listed on the docket as the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (15 U.S.C. § 1692); the defendant is named as "Hollis Cobb Associates, Inc. doing business as Patient Accounts Bureau". The docket's first entry reads "COMPLAINT against Hollis Cobb Associates, LLC ... (CLASS ACTION)"; Justia's copy was last retrieved on September 8, 2026, so later events are not shown. This is a claim, not a finding.

The company's own site names a Duluth, Georgia headquarters, and its history page describes a healthcare collection agency opened in 1977. The CFPB database lists 249 consumer complaints about the company and CourtListener lists federal lawsuits that name it, which are described in the sections above.

The company's Consumer & State Disclosures page lists these license identifiers: California License #10495-99; Connecticut License Number CCA-1224682; Maryland NMLS #1224682; Oregon NMLS number 50130. It also says the agency is licensed by the Minnesota Department of Commerce and by the Wisconsin Office of the Administrator of the Division of Banking. These are the company's statements; NMLS Consumer Access can be used to check them independently. We did not search the state licensing registers themselves on 2026-10-18, so this page does not confirm any license.
