Goldco accounts, statements and contacting Goldco: what its own pages say (checked October 18, 2026)
This site's archive had no approved posts naming Goldco as the company complained about on October 18, 2026 (several unrelated businesses with 'Gold Coast' or 'Gold' in the name are not Goldco), so this page relies on Goldco's own pages and third-party profiles, each dated. Goldco describes itself as a precious metals company that offers direct purchases of physical gold and silver and Gold IRAs.
Contact. Goldco's Contact Us page lists two blocks under 'General Information': 'Customer Care' (855-472-8494, [email protected]) and 'Contact Us' (855-450-1394, [email protected]). The page says: 'For the fastest response, call us at 855-450-1394, Monday to Friday, between 7am - 4pm (PST).' The page does not say which number serves which kind of request. Its contact form offers the subject 'I have questions about my existing account'. BBB's profile says Goldco 'invites consumers with complaints to contact their customer service department directly' at [email protected] or 855-472-8494; that BBB text and Goldco's own page list different email addresses, so the address on Goldco's own Contact Us page is the one shown here.
Statement values. Goldco's Statement FAQs page says an IRA statement is provided by the IRA custodian, not Goldco, and that the custodian named there (Equity Trust) 'typically calculates the value of your assets based on just the spot or melt price' of the metals. The page gives an example in which a 2024 American Eagle one-ounce silver proof coin bought for $80 would show a market value of about $22.41 on the statement, and says the price at which metals could be sold back can be asked of Goldco; it adds that the 'accurate' or 'true' market value on a given day can be found at bullionvalues.org or by asking Goldco, and that a statement value can be less than the price at which the metals could be sold back to Goldco or another dealer. A difference between a statement value and a purchase invoice is therefore explained by Goldco as a valuation method of the custodian.
Before you buy. Goldco's pages state that it does not give financial, tax or legal advice and that prices of precious metals can rise and fall. The About page carries the company's own marketing offers. Its single-asterisk footnote ties to the bonus silver offer only: 'Applies only to qualified orders ... Additional rules may apply ... For additional details, please see your customer agreement.' Its double-asterisk footnote ties to the price-match offer: Goldco 'will either match that price or send the customer a Goldco 5G silver bar' and 'reserves the right to change or discontinue this offer at any time', while the headline says 'We Beat Any Offer'. The 'Guaranteed highest buyback ... no fees when you're ready to liquidate' claim has no footnote on that page, and its terms were not found on the pages opened on October 18, 2026. Ask for the buyback and fee terms in writing.
If something goes wrong. Contact Goldco in writing first and keep invoices, call notes and statements. Account-level IRA questions can also go to the IRA custodian named on your statement. You can file a complaint with BBB even if you have not contacted the business, per BBB's own profile text. Government routes opened on October 18, 2026: the CFTC's Submit a Tip page says that anyone with information about a violation of the Commodity Exchange Act or Commission regulations can report it to the Division of Enforcement, and ReportFraud.ftc.gov accepts reports about bad business practices. Whether either agency has jurisdiction over a given dispute was not assessed; state attorney general and state securities regulator offices were not opened for this page.
Home storage. Goldco's Disclaimer page states: 'Goldco Precious Metals does not recommend home storage for precious metals held by an LLC.'
Who operates Goldco and what the record shows (checked October 18, 2026)
Goldco's Privacy Policy (revised September 17, 2025) names Goldco Direct LLC as the company operating https://goldco.com. BBB's profile for Goldco in Calabasas, California lists it as a limited liability company with the alternate name Goldco Direct LLC, an address of 24025 Park Sorrento Ste 210, Calabasas, and management that BBB names as Trevor Gerszt (Founder/CEO), Jennifer Stearns (General Counsel) and JD Koehler (President). BBB's raw page data shows a business start and incorporation date of October 26, 2011 and accreditation from December 9, 2011; BBB shows these as information on its file, and they are not a founding year stated by Goldco.
Goldco's website names well-known people in menu pages and uses endorsements in its marketing; those are the company's advertising. This page does not evaluate them.
A search of CourtListener for case names containing 'Goldco' also returns older dockets against 'Goldco, LLC' and 'Goldco Inc' in Florida federal courts; this page does not treat them as Goldco Direct LLC because the entity names differ and no source we opened ties them together.
Goldco complaint and review counts (as displayed on October 18, 2026)
- BBB (profile for Goldco, 24025 Park Sorrento Ste 210, Calabasas, CA): rating A+, BBB Accredited Business, 72 total complaints in the last 3 years and 36 complaints filed in the last 12 months. BBB's Customer Reviews tab shows 'Average of 1,719 Customer Reviews' at 4.81 out of 5; BBB notes that displayed complaint text might not represent all complaints filed.
- Trustpilot (goldco.com): 4.4 out of 5 from 1,791 reviews; the profile is shown as claimed since September 2015 with a paid Trustpilot subscription, and Trustpilot says it does not fact-check reviews.
- CFPB complaint database: in the CFPB complaint database's company-name lookup, run in a browser on October 18, 2026, the text 'GOLDCO' returned no matching company name. A precious metals dealer may fall outside the database's product scope, so this says little either way; CFPB accepts complaints about consumer financial products whether or not a company appears in its public lookup.
- BBB complaint types (10 most recent listed, dated March 27 to August 25, 2026): Product (4), Billing (3), Customer Service (1), Service or Repair (1), Sales and Advertising (1); nine are marked Answered and one Resolved. These are consumer allegations as displayed by BBB.
- Trustpilot context: the page shows 'No recent history of asking for reviews' with the note that reviews may not be representative, 'Replied to 100% of negative reviews' and 'Typically replies within 1 month'.
- Company statement: Goldco's About page says it has 'Over 8,000+ 5-Star Customer Reviews' across several review sites. That is the company's own claim and is not reconciled with the figures above.
These figures come from different sources, cover different periods and are not added together.
Court records involving Goldco Direct LLC (checked October 18, 2026)
Summerton v. Goldco Direct LLC (W.D. Wis., No. 3:23-cv-00238) is a putative Telephone Consumer Protection Act class action filed April 18, 2023. The settlement notice says the lawsuit alleges Goldco Direct sent marketing text messages to the plaintiff's wireless number after she asked it to stop, and that Goldco Direct 'denies each and every allegation of wrongdoing'. Under the settlement, Goldco Direct agreed to pay a $2,000,000 Gross Settlement Fund that also pays notice and administration costs, attorneys' fees and expenses, and a service award; class members who filed valid claims receive a pro rata share of what remains. The notice set a claim deadline of April 10, 2026, which has passed.
On the CourtListener docket opened on October 18, 2026, entry 71 (March 26, 2026) is a final approval order signed by District Judge William M. Conley, and entry 73 (April 16, 2026) is a Judgment; the docket shows 'Last Updated: May 7, 2026'. The settlement website's FAQ says claimants are sent payments within 60 days following the Effective Date; that website's home and dates pages still described the approval hearing as upcoming when opened on October 18, 2026, so they are not cited for the approval itself. Questions about payments go to the settlement administrator, Simpluris, at (833) 647-8970 or [email protected] (settlement website goldcotcpasettlement.com).
Other dockets were not itemized. A CourtListener entry titled Goldco Direct LLC v. Clackum (E.D. Cal., 2:18-mc-00190) is a miscellaneous matter in which Goldco Direct LLC appears as the first-named party; the docket we opened does not state its claims, so none are described here.
Is Goldco Legitimate?
