About FunEx

FunEx traces to Fun Express Inc., which its own company history says launched in February 1991 with a discount program for Knott's Berry Farm, Raging Waters, and Six Flags Magic Mountain, billed at the time as the first employee discount program of its kind. The Better Business Bureau's file, by contrast, lists a business start/incorporation date of January 23, 1996 — both figures are shown here rather than picked for you.

The company expanded through the 1990s to include Universal Studios, Disneyland, Medieval Times, and the San Diego Zoo, launched its first website in 1999, and began direct online ticket sales in 2006. It rebranded from "Fun Express" to "FunEx" in 2020 under new leadership, and says it now serves discount programs at over 40,000 employers and organizations nationwide, with partners including LEGOLAND California, SeaWorld San Diego, USS Midway, Universal Studios, and Disneyland. FunEx reports recognition on the Inc. 5000 (#210) and Deloitte Technology Fast 500 (#73) lists, and launched a mobile app in 2024.

Is FunEx Legitimate?

FunEx (Fun Express, Inc.) is a BBB Accredited Business with an A+ rating, accredited since September 9, 2021. No lawsuits, consent orders, or regulatory enforcement actions against the company were found in this review as of August 2026.

The BBB lists 7 complaints against FunEx over the last 3 years, split across delivery-timing, billing, product, and advertising categories; 1 was recorded as resolved and the rest as answered by the company. Two complaint records describe concert e-tickets that arrived days after purchase — in one case, roughly $4,000 in tickets ordered with a page advertising "immediate" delivery were not transferred until 6 days later, which the customer called false advertising. FunEx's own response states that while its integrations enable instant delivery for theme park, attraction, and movie tickets, concert ticket delivery can be delayed because the inventory is seller-controlled, and says this is disclosed before purchase. A separate March 2025 complaint describes about $476 in basketball tickets that scanned as "invalid" at the venue; FunEx called this outcome extremely rare and offered a refund.

The remaining complaints describe a related but distinct theme: refund and cancellation requests contested on the basis of third-party or venue policy rather than delivery timing. One customer's hotel-room refund request, made after a spouse's terminal medical diagnosis, was denied, with FunEx and the hotel each pointing to the other as the party responsible for the decision; another customer was initially denied a refund because FunEx had booked through an undisclosed third-party vendor with a no-refund policy, a complaint marked resolved after the customer pursued a credit-card dispute; a third customer was refused a refund for a Halloween Horror Nights ticket after finding the event oversold and its attractions impassable, on the grounds the ticket had been "used"; and the most recent complaint (March 2026) describes an $8 surcharge unexpectedly applied to a discounted popcorn voucher. FunEx answered each of these, but none ended in a refund to the customer apart from the one marked resolved.

Independent commentary is otherwise thin but consistent: ComplaintsBoard lists 8 reviews averaging 4.6/5 with zero formal complaints logged on that platform, and its one negative review describes friction from a government-ID verification step required before a ticket was released, which the reviewer had not expected from an online ticket purchase. FunEx's own material does not explain when ID verification is required, so that step's scope is unconfirmed beyond this single account.

What To Know Before You Buy

  • For theme park, attraction, and movie tickets, FunEx's own material and the BBB record agree delivery is typically immediate after purchase.
  • For concert and live-event tickets specifically, the BBB complaint record shows more than one case of multi-day delivery delay — check FunEx's disclosed delivery terms for that event before paying, and save your confirmation email.
  • If a ticket fails to scan at a venue, the BBB record shows FunEx has offered refunds in at least one documented case; keep your order confirmation and contact support promptly.
  • Support: call or text 949-367-1900 (5am–11pm PST, 7 days) or email [email protected].
  • For price adjustments on an existing order, FunEx's FAQ says differences can be settled via Zelle, Venmo, PayPal, or card — this was not independently traced through a payment redirect in this review, so treat it as the company's own stated policy rather than independently verified.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is FunEx (funex.com) a legitimate company?

FunEx is a BBB Accredited Business with an A+ rating (accredited since September 2021), operating under the legal name Fun Express, Inc. out of Irvine, California. No lawsuits or regulatory actions against the company were found as of August 2026. It has a small number of BBB complaints -- about delayed delivery of concert e-tickets, a disputed hotel-refund request following a customer's family medical emergency, an undisclosed third-party no-refund policy, an oversold theme-park event, and a billing dispute over a small surcharge -- which the company has responded to and in some cases refunded.

Why didn't my FunEx tickets arrive immediately?

According to FunEx's response to a BBB complaint, theme park, attraction, and movie tickets are usually delivered instantly, but concert and live-event tickets can be delayed because that inventory is seller-controlled. The BBB complaint record includes at least two cases of multi-day delays on event tickets, including one where about $4,000 in tickets were not transferred for 6 days after an immediate-delivery advertisement. FunEx says the possibility of delay is disclosed prior to purchase for those events.
