Fly-E Group, Inc. files annual and quarterly reports with the SEC (CIK 0001975940), has common stock listed on Nasdaq under FLYE, names a headquarters address in Flushing, New York, and publishes a return policy, battery instructions and a support email on flyebike.com. Against that, the records show an SEC investigation notice disclosed in January 2026, Nasdaq delinquency notices in July and September 2026 (the company's 8-Ks say both were closed, on July 29 and September 3, 2026), two NHTSA recall campaigns for the Fly-10 opened in January 2026 (brake pads and rear wheel hub), a securities class action in federal court and a derivative action that was stayed in March 2026, and a June 2025 consent judgment under which the defendants stipulated to a $1,000,000 judgment and agreed to an injunction over UL marks. The director and officer defendants in the derivative action dispute its allegations, and the company's 10-K says it has had no significant recall, a statement to be read next to the NHTSA records.

Fly E-Bike complaints and reviews: BBB and Trustpilot as displayed

Figures are shown as displayed on 2026-10-21 and are not combined with one another.

  • This site's archive: No published complaint reports are currently linked to this profile.
  • BBB: a BBB search for "Fly E-Bike" near Flushing, NY returned five separate listings, and none is named Fly-E Group, Inc. The listing named "Fly E-Bike" at 644 Melrose Ave, Bronx (with other addresses in Astoria and Jackson Heights) shows "NOT BBB Accredited", rating A+, "1 complaint in the last 3 years" with 0 in the last 12 months, and "1 /5 stars" from "Average of 2 Customer Reviews". Its raw page data gives a BBB file-opened date of 2015-09-08 and a business-start date of 2013-06-27, which differ from the 2018 start the company describes, and BBB does not say the file belongs to Fly-E Group, Inc. One complaint and two reviews are too few entries to say how the company handles customers generally.
  • Trustpilot: a Trustpilot page for the domain flyebike.com returned "page not found", and a Trustpilot search for "fly e-bike" on 2026-10-21 listed other businesses. No Trustpilot page for Fly E-Bike was identified in those checks.
  • News reports (attributed): a Streetsblog Projects article of January 31, 2025 reported that Christopher Valentin's Fly moped "blew up in his sister's apartment in the Bronx and killed him, according to his family and a lawsuit filing"; these are the article's reported allegations. A Streetsblog article of October 14, 2026 reported a fire at a Fly E-Bike shop in Corona, Queens, and quoted a store worker, Sal Lopez, as saying the fire "started from a battery in a customer's bike that was left at the shop" and that the sprinkler system let everyone escape safely; the article gives no date for the fire, and its description of the company is the article's own wording, not a finding.

Fly E-Bike complaints: returns, refunds, warranty and who to contact

This page was checked on 2026-10-21. This site's archive has no complaints about Fly-E Group, so the practical steps on this page come from the company's own web pages and its SEC filing, and the documented record comes from court dockets, SEC filings and news reports.

  • Returns. The return policy (effective date shown: Nov 12, 2024) says unused e-bikes, e-motorcycles, e-scooters, parts and accessories can be returned "within 7 days". Step 1 is an email to [email protected] giving the reason for the refund, photos of the product and of its packaging, proof of purchase and a return shipping address; Step 2 is to "wait for email confirmation before returning the item"; Step 3 is the return itself "by mail or at a nearby store, depending on the item and location". The page lists what it does not accept: open-box and refurbished bikes sold as "non-refundable", products with damage such as scratches or defective parts, products without original packaging, and returns not pre-approved by email. It says it does not offer direct exchanges.
  • Refund timing. The same page says refunds are issued after returned items are "received and approved after inspection" and credited to the original payment method "within 2-5 days"; if no refund has arrived after 5 days, the customer should contact their bank first and then email [email protected]. It also says shipping damage or missing items during the return period "will be deducted from your total refund" and that mailed returns should be shipped within 48 hours of receiving the return label.
  • Warranty. The company's Form 10-K says it offers "a three-month limited manufacturer's warranty" on its e-bikes, e-motorcycles and e-scooters, starting on delivery, covering "limited factory defects and minor cosmetic damages", and a three-month battery warranty for manufacturer defects under which a faulty battery is replaced free of charge. The return-policy page read on 2026-10-21 does not state warranty terms.
  • Customer service. The contact-us page lists live chat and [email protected], with service "6 days a week from 10 AM – 6 PM PT (Closed on Sundays)". It lists 929-261-9979 only under investor relations.
    More detailShow less

The NHTSA recall notices for the Fly-10 (see "Recalls (CPSC and NHTSA)") give 646-961-5177 as the number for FLYE customer service, and the investor site lists the same number under "Company".

  • Registration of mopeds and motorcycles. The FAQs page says a driver's license is required for any moped up to 30 mph, that models above that need a motorcycle licence endorsement, and that insurance, registration and plates are required in New York.
    More detailShow less

It also says the company provides documents such as the MV50 form, the Manufacturer's Certificate of Origin and a bill of sale, and that without a valid driver's license or permit it "will not be able to complete the registration documents". That FAQ does not mention a New York DMV position: Streetsblog reported on July 29, 2025 that the New York DMV said it is no longer allowing new registrations of Fly E-Bike mopeds and will not renew existing ones. The current DMV status was not verified on a DMV page, so a buyer should confirm with the New York DMV before purchasing a moped.

  • Battery safety. The company's battery page says, among other points, to charge indoors in a ventilated area and "never inside a bedroom, narrow hallway, or near combustible materials", to use "the original manufacturer-approved charger", not to leave the battery on the charger after it is full, and to stop using a battery that is hot, swollen, leaking or smells of chemicals.
  • Where to complain. A customer can write to [email protected] first. Outside the company: the New York Attorney General's "File a complaint" page lists "Consumer issues" (purchases, services, contracts and more); for purchases from NYC businesses the NYC Department of Consumer and Worker Protection's "File a Consumer Complaint" page; product-safety incidents can be reported at the CPSC's SaferProducts.gov. A card issuer's dispute process is a separate route; the company's policy does not mention it.

Fly-E Group: SEC, Nasdaq, city enforcement, NHTSA recalls and CPSC check

SEC. The Form 10-K (filed 2026-07-23) says that on January 21, 2026 the company "was notified by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission" that it had initiated an investigation involving the company, that the company "has not been provided with substantive details", and that it is "fully cooperating". No outcome has been disclosed in the filings read.

Nasdaq. The Form 10-K says the company received a delinquency letter from Nasdaq's Listing Qualifications Staff on July 21, 2026 for not timely filing the annual report. An 8-K filed 2026-07-29 says that, based on the July 23, 2026 filing of the 10-K, Staff "has determined that the Company complies with the Rule. Accordingly, this matter is now closed." A press release attached to an 8-K filed 2026-09-03 says the company received a further written notice on September 1, 2026 about the Form 10-Q for the quarter ended June 30, 2026, described as "a notification of deficiency, not of imminent delisting"; the same 8-K says the 10-Q was filed on September 1, 2026 and that the company "received written confirmation of compliance from Nasdaq on September 3, 2026".

New York City enforcement (as reported). A January 31, 2025 article by Jesse Coburn, published by Streetsblog Projects, reported that Fly or its subsidiaries "have received 64 summonses for allegedly selling uncertified batteries or micromobility devices and another 22 summonses for allegedly selling illegal mopeds, according to Department of Consumer and Worker Protection data", and that city investigators "claimed 116 alleged violations of the fire code and possibly other city codes at Fly locations in 2023". These are the article's figures as of its publication; summonses are allegations, and the the article adds "(None of those charges have been dismissed, according to the department.)" about the 64 and 22 summonses. The current status of the summonses was not verified here.

Recalls (CPSC and NHTSA). NHTSA's recalls API (opened 2026-10-21) returns two campaigns for the Fly-10, both with a report received date of 23/01/2026. 26V035000 (service brakes): "FWMOTO INC. (FLYE) is recalling certain 2024 FWMOTO FLY-10 and 2022-2024 FLY E-BIKE FLY-10 scooters. The brake pads may provide insufficient braking performance" and the vehicles "fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 122". 26V036000 (wheel hub): "The rear wheel hub may be missing the DOT marking", so the vehicles fail to comply with FMVSS number 123. The remedy in each is that FLYE "will replace the brake pads [rear wheel hub], free of charge, or repurchase" the vehicle, that "owner notification letters were mailed March 27, 2026", and that owners may contact FLYE customer service at 646-961-5177 or [email protected]. Each campaign record lists 1,835 potential units affected; the two figures cover the same vehicles and are not added. Streetsblog reported the brake recall on February 11, 2026.

The company's Form 10-K says it has "not experienced any significant product recall" since it began operations; read next to the two NHTSA records, that is the company's own description in its filing. A query of the CPSC recall database (the saferproducts.gov recall web service) by title, product name, manufacturer, retailer, importer and description for "Fly-E", "Fly E-Bike" and "flyebike.com" returned no records on 2026-10-21. The NHTSA search covered the Fly-10 make and model query shown, not every Fly E-Bike model.

Fly-E Group lawsuits: securities class action, UL consent judgment and others

Court entries are listed under "Court cases" on this page. In short: a federal securities class action is pending in the Eastern District of New York, and a consolidated shareholder derivative action in the same court was stayed by an order of March 25, 2026; UL LLC's 2025 trademark suit ended in a consent judgment and permanent injunction, and the company's 10-K says it paid UL $1,000,000 under a separate settlement agreement; and a 2022 Texas federal product-liability case was dismissed in 2023. Complaints in these cases are allegations. In the securities and derivative cases the company's Form 10-K says it cannot determine the outcome and that the director and officer defendants "dispute the allegations" in the derivative complaints. A news report also says that eight lawsuits against the company and its subsidiaries were pending by the summer of 2024; those were not individually verified here.

More on the lawsuitsShow less

The UL consent judgment concerns use of UL certification marks, not a finding about any particular fire. Defendants' own statement in that document is that they "maintain that the Accused Products were certified by labs unaffiliated with UL".

According to the Form 10-K (Item 3), two shareholder derivative suits filed on October 28, 2025 (Flynn v. Ou, No. 1:25-cv-06036) and November 17, 2025 (Shah v. Ou, No. 1:25-cv-06372), brought on behalf of the company as nominal defendant against certain current and former directors and officers, were consolidated on December 9, 2025 under the Flynn number. The 10-K says they allege breach of fiduciary duty, gross mismanagement and related claims on the same alleged facts as the securities class action, that the defendants "dispute the allegations", and that the outcome cannot be determined. The Flynn docket (as retrieved by Justia on March 25, 2026) shows a stipulation to stay the consolidated action (ECF 10) and an order of March 25, 2026 directing the clerk to stay the case; the case was reassigned to Judge Ramon E. The company's Form 10-K says the parties signed a settlement agreement on May 21, 2025, that the company paid UL $1,000,000 during the year ended March 31, 2026, and that the agreement "fully resolves all pending litigation between UL and the Company".

Case details: UL LLC v. Fly-E Group, Inc., et al.Show less

UL LLC sued Fly-E Group, Inc., Fly E-Bike, Inc., FlyBWY, Inc., FlyCycle and three individuals (cause shown: 15 U.S.C. § 1114, trademark infringement). On June 6, 2025 the court entered a stipulated Consent Judgment and Permanent Injunction. In it the defendants admitted that they had offered for sale and sold electric bikes, scooters and motorcycles promoted in association with UL marks that "have not been tested and certified by UL", while maintaining that the products "were certified by labs unaffiliated with UL", and that UL had notified them on multiple occasions that they lacked authorization. The order finds the defendants liable for using counterfeit UL marks in violation of 15 U.S.C. § 1114, states that the defendants "stipulate to a judgment in the amount of $1,000,000" entered against each defendant, jointly and severally, enjoins further use of UL marks on goods not certified by UL, and retains jurisdiction for one year to enforce the parties' settlement agreement. The settlement agreement itself was not read.

Who operates Fly E-Bike: Fly-E Group, Inc.

The Form 10-K for the year ended March 31, 2026 describes Fly-E Group, Inc. as an electric vehicle company that designs, installs, sells and rents e-motorcycles, e-bikes and e-scooters under the brand "Fly E-Bike". It says the first store opened in 2018 in New York, that as of July 23, 2026 it had 4 retail stores in the United States (New York, Massachusetts, Washington D.C. and California), an online store at flyebike.com and 64 distributors, offered 27 e-motorcycle, 37 e-bike and 38 e-scooter products, and had 12 employees. Net revenues were about $19.1 million for the year ended March 31, 2026 (retail about $6.9 million, wholesale $11.6 million, rental $0.6 million) against about $25.4 million a year earlier.

The filing's corporate history says the business started in 2018 as Ctate Inc., a New York corporation; Ctate merged into Fly E-Bike, Inc. (a Delaware corporation) on September 12, 2022; and Fly-E Group, Inc., incorporated in Delaware on November 1, 2022, acquired Fly E-Bike, Inc. by share exchange on December 21, 2022. Fly-E Group says it has no substantive operations other than holding Fly E-Bike, Inc. and Fly EV, Inc. Its common stock began trading on the Nasdaq Capital Market on June 6, 2024. The company owns its Flushing headquarters (encumbered by debt) and leases a warehouse in Maspeth, New York, where it says it assembles all of its vehicles.

More company historyShow less

The filing also says that, as part of a plan to reduce complexity in financial reporting, the company sold 100% of its equity in 24 subsidiaries to third-party buyers between April 2025 and March 2026 and that 24 retail stores had been operated through subsidiaries that were disposed of. It does not list which stores were involved or say whether they still use the Fly E-Bike name, so a buyer should check who operates a particular store before relying on this page's return and warranty terms for it.

The contact-us page lists live chat and [email protected], with service "6 days a week from 10 AM – 6 PM PT (Closed on Sundays)". What does Fly E-Bike say about battery charging and fires?

Its lithium-ion battery page says to charge indoors in a ventilated area, never inside a bedroom or narrow hallway, to use the original manufacturer-approved charger, to avoid leaving a full battery on the charger, and to stop using a battery that is overheating, leaking, swollen or smells of chemicals. NHTSA lists two recall campaigns dated January 2026 for the 2022-2024 Fly-10: 26V035000 (brake pads, FMVSS 122) and 26V036000 (rear wheel hub missing the DOT marking, FMVSS 123). The remedy in each is a free replacement or repurchase; owner letters were mailed March 27, 2026, and owners may contact FLYE customer service at 646-961-5177 or [email protected]. The Form 10-K, which says the company has "not experienced any significant product recall", should be read alongside these records.

Does a Fly E-Bike moped or motorcycle need registration in New York?

The company's FAQs page says insurance, registration and plates are required for both gas and electric mopeds and motorcycles in New York, that a driver's license is required for any moped up to 30 mph, and that models above that need a motorcycle license endorsement. It says it provides the MV50 form, certificate of origin and bill of sale for registration but cannot complete registration documents without a valid license or permit. Streetsblog reported on July 29, 2025 that the New York DMV said it is no longer allowing new registrations of Fly E-Bike mopeds and will not renew existing ones; the current DMV status was not verified on a DMV page, so confirm with the New York DMV before buying.
