Exoticca complaints, cancellation and refunds: what Exoticca's U.S. Terms and Help Center say (checked October 12, 2026)
Exoticca's U.S. website, Terms and Conditions, About page and Help Center, Trustpilot, ComplaintsBoard, BBB's search, the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) and the FTC and New York Attorney General complaint pages were opened on October 12, 2026. This site's archive has no approved complaints about Exoticca (see the complaint-record section), so the steps below come from Exoticca's own pages and the official complaint routes.
Contact Exoticca first, in writing. As displayed on October 12, 2026, the Help Center's Contact Us page lists an online form ('Create a case 24/7'), 'Messaging' (Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp) and 'Chat'. The page did not display a phone number or Customer Service hours; the home page header shows 'Book now: 1-888-488-0592', which the company labels as a booking line. The Terms tell customers to check the Customer Service operating hours 'in the "Contact" section of our website'. The Help Center article on contacting Exoticca says the online form is answered within 72 hours when departure is more than 30 days away and within 48 hours when it is less than 30 days away, and that In-trip Assistance is 'available 24/7 via WhatsApp or phone' from three days before departure, with its numbers added to the Trip Summary. The Terms say that once a payment has been made, 'cancellations will only be accepted in writing' through the contact form, that a cancellation request 'will only take effect once it is received in writing', and that if it arrives outside Customer Service operating hours 'it will take effect from the next business day'; a change request is treated the same way. Because the penalty tiers below are counted in days before departure, keep the date and time of your submission.
What cancelling costs under the Terms. For reservations made on or after October 24, 2024, the Terms' cancellation policy deducts 60 percent of the total booking amount as a penalty if the customer cancels 60 or more days before departure, and 75 percent if the customer cancels 59 or fewer days before departure; handling fees are not refundable (the Terms' pricing clause states 'Additional handling fees in the amount of 49 USD will apply', 'separate from the price of your travel package'), and a partial cancellation of a booking is not allowed. Products or services added after the reservation date and cancelled less than 60 days before departure carry a 100 percent penalty on the added service. If a specific trip page lists its own cancellation conditions, the Terms say those apply instead.
Payment schedule. The Terms (section 3) say 'Bookings made 90 days or less before departure must be paid for in full at the time of booking', and that if Exoticca does not receive a payment due 'in full and on time', it reserves 'the right to treat your booking as cancelled by you', in which case the cancellation fees apply. Section 4 recommends that all persons on the booking 'purchase comprehensive travel insurance' and says 'If you choose to travel without adequate coverage, we will not be liable for any of your losses howsoever arising, for which trip protection plan coverage would otherwise have been available.'
Optional Flex coverage. The home page header says: 'Add Flex from $99 /pp. Cancel for any reason.' The Terms attach conditions to that coverage. For bookings created on or before August 16, 2026, 'Flex' allows cancellation up to 30 days before the start date with a refund 'in travel credit', and a cash refund option carries the 75 percent penalty; 'Flex Plus' allows a refund 'in travel credit or cash' up to 30 days before the start date. For bookings created on or after August 17, 2026, the Terms list Flex Light (80 percent back as travel credit up to 30 days before departure), Flex Optima (100 percent back as travel credit up to 30 days before departure) and Flex Total (100 percent up to 30 days before departure and 80 percent up to 3 days before departure, as travel credit). The Terms say the coverage price and handling fees are non-refundable and 'Only one cancellation is allowed with each purchase of a protection plan'.
Two company pages use different wording. (1) Which version applies: the Terms key it to when the booking was created ('For Bookings Created ON or AFTER August 17th, 2026'), while the Help Center article 'How much do I have to pay if I change or cancel my booking?' uses 'Bookings confirmed on or after August 17, 2026' and 'Bookings confirmed before August 17, 2026'. For a booking created and confirmed on different days around August 16-17, ask Exoticca in writing which version applies. (2) The older Flex: the Terms say it allows a refund 'in travel credit' up to 30 days before the start date; the Help Center article says for Flex more than 30 days before departure 'You may update your package. The Flex fee is non-refundable, and the remaining balance will be issued as credit toward your new booking.' (3) When coverage can be bought: the Terms say 'These coverages can only be purchased up to SIXTY (60) days pre-departure', while the Help Center says 'Cancellation coverage can only be purchased during the booking process and cannot be added once your booking has been confirmed.' This page does not choose between them. The Help Center also says 'Travel credit does not expire'.
If Exoticca changes or cancels. The Terms say Exoticca may change dates, modify non-essential aspects, or cancel a trip, including for not reaching a minimum group size, and that in that case 'you will have no right of cash refund of the trip price'. For a major change or cancellation the Terms list three choices, to be notified within 3 days of the offer: accept the change, 'a refund of all amounts paid with a Travel Credit', or alternative arrangements. The Terms add: 'If you fail to do so we will assume that you have chosen to accept the change or alternative arrangements.' They also say 'We will not offer you compensation and the above options will not be available where' Exoticca makes a minor change, cancels 'as a result of your failure to make payment', or the change 'arises out of alterations to the confirmed booking requested by you'. Read these terms before relying on a cash refund, and reply in writing within the 3 days.
Complaint steps in the Terms. The Terms (section 11) say to tell the supplier about a problem during the trip immediately; to send formal written notice 'within 28 days of the end of your arrangements' with the booking reference if the complaint remains unresolved; and (section 14) to give typewritten notice of a claim 'within 30 days after the trip or cancellation of the trip' before suing. The Terms also contain a New York governing-law and New York-courts clause and a class-action waiver (quoted in the legitimacy section). If a deadline in those clauses is close, keep dated copies of every message.
Card disputes. The Terms' payment clause says a customer paying by credit card 'will waive your right to a chargeback, except in the case of fraud', and adds: 'If you do request a chargeback that we then have to dispute, you will be liable for all of our costs, including attorneys' fees.' The FTC's page on disputing credit card charges separately describes the Fair Credit Billing Act dispute process for billing errors, including sending a letter so it reaches the issuer within 60 days after the first bill with the error. This site does not assess how those two statements interact for a particular booking; ask your card issuer which route applies to your charge.
Official complaint routes. Report to the FTC at reportfraud.ftc.gov; to the New York Attorney General's complaint page (the Terms choose New York law) or your own state attorney general's consumer office; and, for airfare included in a package, to the U.S. DOT Aviation Consumer Protection Division, whose page says DOT 'will direct the identified airline and/or ticket agent to respond directly to you'. These agencies do not guarantee a refund.
Exoticca: contracting company, parent and what the company says about its trips
Contracting company. The U.S. Terms and Conditions say: 'We are Exoticca Travel US, Inc.' and that it is 'based in 225 Asylum ST FL 15, Hartford, 06103, U.S.A.' and 'is a subsidiary of Pangealand, S.L., the parent company, registered in the Commercial Register of Barcelona', with its registered office at Carrer Aribau 195, 2nd floor, 08021 Barcelona. The same Hartford address is printed in the website footer. The Terms apply to reservations made from October 24, 2024 onward; earlier reservations are governed by the earlier terms the Terms refer to.
What the company says it does. The About page says: 'Exoticca is an online tour operator made up of passionate travel experts' and that its '300+ itineraries span more than 60 countries'; it says most all-inclusive packages 'include flights, hotels, tours, transfers and some meals', offers 24/7 in-trip assistance by phone or chat and a Traveler's App, and that it only partners with hotels that 'receive at least 3.5 stars (out of 5) on TripAdvisor'. These are the company's own statements and were not independently verified. The site is also marketed in other countries; this page covers the U.S. site and U.S. Terms only.
Other published terms. The home page and footer link a separate 'Promotional Terms and Conditions' page for the Exoticca GO rewards program, a Privacy Policy and a Cookies policy; those pages were not summarised here. The Help Center says travel credit issued to the Exoticca Wallet 'doesn't expire' and can be applied to any trip, and also says 'Some travel credits may be issued as non-refundable'.
Exoticca complaint record: Trustpilot, ComplaintsBoard, BBB search and DOT as displayed October 12, 2026
This site's archive. No approved complaints in this site's archive were identified as being about Exoticca, searching the archive for the names Exoticca, Exoticca Travel and Pangealand, the telephone number 888-488-0592 and the site's address on October 12, 2026. Complaint themes are therefore not shown. Posts about other businesses whose names merely contain 'exotic' were not linked.
Trustpilot, as displayed on October 12, 2026. The profile is labelled 'Claimed profile' (since October 2019) with a 'Paid Trustpilot subscription' label, shows 4.4 from 35,120 reviews, says the company invites customers to review 'whether positive or negative', 'Replied to 98% of negative reviews' and 'Typically replies within 1 week', and notes the company 'May use AI-assist with replies'. Trustpilot says it does not fact-check reviews.
ComplaintsBoard, as displayed on October 12, 2026. The page for Exoticca Travel, marked 'Claimed' and 'Updated on Sep 22, 2026', shows a 2.4 rating from 2 reviews and 7 complaints.
BBB. BBB site searches run through a text renderer on October 12, 2026 returned no Exoticca profile: 'Exoticca' (USA; 22,590 results displayed, and the 15 listed on the first results page were other 'Exotic...' names), 'Exoticca Travel' near Hartford, CT ('No Results Found') and 'Pangealand' (8 results, none named Exoticca or Pangealand). No BBB rating or complaint count is therefore shown here. This is a statement about those searches, not about BBB records generally.
DOT. The U.S. Department of Transportation's Air Travel Consumer Report for August 2026 includes Table 5 (YTD), consumer complaint cases against travel agents for January to June 2026; no row named Exoticca appears in the text of that table as opened on October 12, 2026. The table's footnote says: 'Travel Agents are listed individually if DOT received five or more complaint cases during this period. For Travel Agents with fewer than five complaint cases, data is consolidated under "Other Travel Agent."' The absence of a row therefore does not show how many complaint cases DOT received about Exoticca.
These figures come from different platforms with different rules for collecting reviews and are not added together or compared here.
Is Exoticca Legitimate?
The name Exoticca maps to an identifiable contracting company: the U.S. Terms name Exoticca Travel US, Inc., 225 Asylum St, Floor 15, Hartford, CT 06103, as the company a U.S. customer contracts with, describe it as a subsidiary of Pangealand, S.L., registered in the Commercial Register of Barcelona, and the website footer prints the same Hartford address. A claimed Trustpilot profile and a ComplaintsBoard page exist for the brand; figures are in the complaint-record section.
Records checked. On October 12, 2026, CourtListener's RECAP (federal docket) search for 'Exoticca' and its opinion search for 'Exoticca' (published, unpublished and unknown-status opinions), opened through a text renderer, each returned 0 results. State court dockets, PACER directly, FTC and state attorney general enforcement databases, and seller-of-travel registries were not searched; that is a statement about those searches, not a finding that no case, claim or regulator action exists. The site footer displays three badge images with the labels 'Registered Florida Seller of Travel', 'Registered California Seller of Travel' and 'Registered Washington Seller of Travel' and an 'American Society of Travel Advisors' badge. These are the company's own displays; no registration numbers are printed with them and this site did not check state registries.
Terms that matter to a dispute. The Terms say they are governed 'in all respects by New York law', that disputes will be dealt with 'in a court of competent jurisdiction in the State of New York', that the customer 'will only bring claims against us in your individual capacity and not as a plaintiff or class member in any purported class action or representative proceeding', and that the customer waives punitive damages and must give a typewritten notice of claim within 30 days after the trip or cancellation. The Terms also state that they 'contain waivers of liability as well as waiver of class action and venue selection and notice clauses'. Whether any clause is enforceable in a given dispute is a legal question this page does not answer.
Marketing figures such as '300+ itineraries' and 'up to $500 reward' are the company's statements.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which company does a U.S. customer contract with?
The U.S. Terms and Conditions say: 'We are Exoticca Travel US, Inc.', based at 225 Asylum St, Floor 15, Hartford, CT 06103, and that it 'is a subsidiary of Pangealand, S.L., the parent company, registered in the Commercial Register of Barcelona'. The Terms apply to reservations made from October 24, 2024 onward.
How much does it cost to cancel an Exoticca trip without cancellation coverage?
The Terms deduct 60 percent of the total booking amount as a penalty if the customer cancels 60 or more days before departure and 75 percent if the customer cancels 59 or fewer days before departure; handling fees are not refundable. Added services cancelled less than 60 days before departure carry a 100 percent penalty on the added service. A trip page's own conditions apply if it lists specific ones.
What does Exoticca's Flex cancellation coverage cover?
The home page says 'Add Flex from $99 /pp. Cancel for any reason.' The Terms say that for bookings created on or after August 17, 2026, Flex Light returns 80 percent and Flex Optima 100 percent of the amount paid as travel credit if cancelled up to 30 days before departure, and Flex Total returns 100 percent up to 30 days and 80 percent up to 3 days before departure as travel credit. For bookings created on or before August 16, 2026, Flex refunds in travel credit and Flex Plus in travel credit or cash. The coverage price is non-refundable. The Help Center article on changing or cancelling uses booking confirmation dates ('confirmed on or after August 17, 2026') for the same split, so ask Exoticca in writing which version applies if creation and confirmation fell on different days.
Does Exoticca travel credit expire, and can it be taken as cash?
The Help Center says travel credit in the Exoticca Wallet 'doesn't expire' and can be applied to any trip, and that 'Some travel credits may be issued as non-refundable'. The Terms describe a cash option for Flex of 'the penalty of 75% of the amount of the trip' for bookings created on or before August 16, 2026, and a cash refund under Flex Plus; for bookings created on or after August 17, 2026 the coverage options list refunds as travel credit.
What does Exoticca owe if it changes or cancels the trip?
The Terms say that where Exoticca changes or cancels under its reserved rights the customer has 'no right of cash refund of the trip price'. For a major change or cancellation they list three choices, to be notified within 3 days of the offer: accept the change, 'a refund of all amounts paid with a Travel Credit', or comparable alternative arrangements. Keep the written offer and your reply.
How do I contact Exoticca about a booking or a refund?
As displayed on October 12, 2026, the Help Center Contact Us page lists an online form ('Create a case 24/7'), Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp, and chat; it did not display a phone number or Customer Service hours. The home page header shows 'Book now: 1-888-488-0592' as a booking line. The Terms say cancellations are accepted only in writing through the contact form, and a request received outside Customer Service operating hours takes effect from the next business day; the Help Center says form replies come within 72 hours (departure more than 30 days away) or 48 hours (less than 30 days away).
Are there deadlines to complain or bring a claim under Exoticca's Terms?
The Terms say to send formal written notice of an unresolved complaint 'within 28 days of the end of your arrangements', and to give typewritten notice of a claim 'within 30 days after the trip or cancellation of the trip' before bringing suit. Whether a deadline is enforceable is a legal question; keep dated copies of messages.
Where can I complain about Exoticca outside the company?
Options include the FTC (reportfraud.ftc.gov), the New York Attorney General's complaint page, your own state attorney general, the U.S. DOT for airfare included in a package, and your card issuer for a billing dispute (the FTC describes the Fair Credit Billing Act process). The Terms' clause on waiving chargebacks is quoted in the what-to-do section; ask your issuer which route applies. These agencies do not guarantee a refund.
Are there court cases against Exoticca on this page?
None are listed. A CourtListener RECAP (federal docket) search and an opinion search (published, unpublished and unknown-status opinions) for 'Exoticca' each returned 0 results on October 12, 2026; state courts and PACER directly were not searched, so that is a statement about those searches only.
