Endurance Warranty claims, cancellation and refund: what Endurance's own pages say (checked October 6, 2026)
Endurance's own pages and sample contract, opened on October 6, 2026, set out the routes below. Contract terms differ by plan and by state: the contract you received (available in the Customer Portal) governs, and the figures below come from one sample contract form (VSC-01DE) and the California insurance-policy form posted on the company's site. VSC-01DE names Endurance Dealer Services, LLC as administrator and obligor, while the company's About page says Endurance is “the direct administrator of most plans we offer,” so the administrator and obligor on your own contract may differ; check its Application Page.
Phone numbers published by Endurance. The Contact page lists 1-866-432-4443 for current contract holders (Customer Support) and 1-800-253-8203 for people shopping for a contract. The sample contract prints a claims line, 1-877-414-0134, in its page footers. BBB lists a helpdesk number, (877) 284-8174, and says the company asks people to open a helpdesk ticket before filing a BBB complaint.
Filing a claim. Endurance's How to File a Claim page, opened October 6, 2026, lists five steps: (1) “Prevent further damage” (take the vehicle to a licensed repair shop or any certified mechanic or repair facility of your choice); (2) “Obtain authorization” (before work begins, have the shop contact Endurance); (3) “Understand your coverage” (discuss what is covered with the shop's manager and have them process the claim); (4) “Pay your deductible”; and (5) follow the claim's progress in the Customer Portal. Separately, the sample contract's Your Responsibilities section covers maintaining the vehicle and preserving records, and its maintenance-record provision says: “Failure to provide both receipts and a properly maintained log may result in the maintenance record being deemed unverifiable.” The sample contract footer reads: “NO CLAIMS WILL BE PAID WITHOUT PRIOR AUTHORIZATION.” The company says the Customer Portal lets you view the contract, share the plan ID card with a shop and track claim progress. Its Elite Benefits (tire repair, key fob replacement and similar) say to get authorization before service, and for those you pay the shop and submit receipts for reimbursement.
Cancelling and refunds (sample contract form VSC-01DE, dated 04/25). The contract says: “You may cancel this Contract at any time including when the Vehicle is sold, lost, stolen or destroyed by notifying Us in writing and by submitting a request to cancel the Contract and a Federal Odometer Statement or notarized affidavit verifying mileage at the time of the request.” If cancelled within thirty days of purchase and no claim has been filed, “the entire Contract purchase price paid will be refunded.” After thirty days, or if a claim was made in the first thirty days, the unearned price is refunded pro rata. The contract says: “The refund will be equal to the lesser amount produced using either the number of months this Contract was in force or the number of miles, in thousands of miles or portion thereof, Your Vehicle was driven prior to Cancellation,” less “an administrative fee of fifty dollars ($50) and the total amount of all claims paid”; that is, the lesser of the dollar amounts produced by the time-based and the mileage-based calculations. The home page also advertises a “30-day money-back guarantee” (company statement). The contract names Old Republic Insurance Company (Tulsa Branch Office) as insurer of the company's obligations and says that if you have not received payment of a claim or a cancellation refund within sixty days after proof of loss or the cancellation request was submitted, you may make a direct claim against Old Republic at 844-805-8753. In California the company sells a mechanical breakdown insurance policy instead; its Terms say that policy refunds the entire premium within the first 60 days (new-vehicle plans) or 30 days (pre-owned plans) and then a pro rata amount less a $25 cancellation fee.
Disputes clause. Section IX.B of the same sample contract says disputes “shall be determined by an alternative dispute resolution (mediation, arbitration) from an accredited third-party of Our choosing,” with costs paid by the company, and that both sides waive pursuing a dispute “as a class action.” State-specific amendments in the same form change this in several states (for example, arbitration is non-binding in Florida), so read the state pages of your own contract.
Contract terms that bear on claims (sample contract VSC-01DE). (a) Prior authorization: the claim steps say a repair without prior authorization “will not be covered except as provided under Emergency Repairs”; that provision lets a repair needed while the administrator's office is closed go ahead, and the holder “must call the Administrator's office within five (5) business days from the date of repair” to learn whether it is covered. (b) Inspection: “At Administrator's discretion, You may need to authorize the Licensed Repair Facility to inspect and/or tear-down Your Vehicle ... If the failure is not covered under this Contract, You will be responsible for any associated charges.” (c) Limit of liability: for Secure and Secure Plus, the lesser of $10,000 or the average-condition trade-in value (J.D. Power); for Superior, Supreme and Supreme Wrap, the average-condition trade-in value; and “Once the combined maximum Limit of Liability has been reached, as defined above, this Contract, and its transfer and Cancellation rights terminate.”
Outside routes. The FTC's ReportFraud site accepts reports about a company or an unwanted call; the FCC's consumer complaint center accepts informal complaints about unwanted calls and texts; the New York Department of State publishes do-not-call enforcement (see below). A state attorney general or state insurance department is the usual route for contract or refund disputes; check your own state's page for the current form. For a pending BBB complaint, BBB says Endurance asks you to open a helpdesk ticket with the company first.
Endurance Warranty regulator actions: New York consent order (2026) and Oregon settlement (2022, as reported)
New York State Department of State, Division of Consumer Protection (Consent Order 2026-C-0515-01035, August 2026). The Department's order, a PDF posted at dos.ny.gov and opened October 6, 2026, is captioned “In the Matter of the Alleged Violations of the Do Not Call Registry by Endurance Warranty Services LLC, et. al.” It says the investigation “was initiated based on complaints received by the Department,” and that the respondents “enter into this agreement to resolve a disputed matter and settle alleged violations of New York General Business Law §399-z, to wit: having made or caused to be made unsolicited telemarketing sales calls to consumers who registered telephone numbers on the national do-not-call registry ... thirty-one (31) days or longer prior to the date each call was made.” Respondents agree that they “shall not contact any New York State resident who has registered their number on the national do-not-call registry at least thirty-one (31) days prior to the contact without documentation of the consumer's express request to contact,” and the order says “the Department and Respondents agree to a civil penalty of $36,000.00,” payable on or before 9/10/2026. The Department “consents to close and discontinue the investigation into any violations occurring prior to the date on which this Order is signed, with prejudice,” provided the terms are met. The text extracted from the PDF on October 6, 2026 contains no admission or denial clause, and the day on the signature page was not legible in that text. BBB's government-action notice on its Endurance profile describes the order as entered on August 20, 2026 and says it “was for settlement purposes only and should not be considered as an admission of guilt or finding of violation of the law”; that sentence is BBB's, not the Department's.
Oregon Department of Justice (as reported). A MotorBiscuit article published December 10, 2022 and opened October 6, 2026 reports that the Oregon Department of Justice targeted Endurance Warranty Services after complaints; that between 2016 and 2019 the company sent “hundreds of thousands of mailers” and secured 1,600 warranties from Oregonians; and that “Endurance is banned for five years and fined $550,000” (the article also says the ban covers misleading mailers and unwanted calls). The Oregon DOJ's own release or the settlement document was not retrieved: a search of the DOJ site on October 6, 2026 returned no Endurance page and the KGW report cited by the article was not accessible. These terms, including whether any part of the penalty was suspended or conditional, are therefore the outlet's description, and the underlying statements about the mailers are the Department's allegations, not findings of this site.
Other regulators: the CFPB complaint-database company lookup returned no company named Endurance on October 6, 2026 (vehicle service contracts are not a typical CFPB product category). No FTC or CFPB action naming Endurance was identified in the sources checked on October 6, 2026 (the FTC and FCC pages and the CFPB lookup described on this page); that is a statement about those sources, not about every agency or state.
About Endurance Warranty Services, LLC and Endurance Dealer Services, LLC
Who is the company. The Endurance web sites are owned and operated by Endurance Warranty Services, LLC and its U.S. subsidiaries and affiliates, according to the company's Terms and Conditions, which give 400 Skokie Boulevard, Northbrook, Illinois 60062 as the address of its DMCA agent; BBB lists the same address. BBB's page data shows the business started and was incorporated on 2006-05-05 as a limited liability company, lists 1,039 employees and lists Endurance Dealer Services, LLC as a related business and “Endurance,” “EWS” and “Endurance Direct” as alternate names. In a December 29, 2025 notice of party with financial interest in the Rodriguez case (see court cases), Endurance Warranty Services, L.L.C. identified “Corporate Parent Endurance Vehicle Services, LLC”.
Who is on the contract. The sample vehicle service contract VSC-01DE (form dated 04/25) names Endurance Dealer Services, LLC, 400 Skokie Blvd., Suite 470, Northbrook, as the Obligor and Administrator (Old Republic Insurance Company, Tulsa Branch Office, in Florida), with Endurance's obligations insured by a contractual liability policy issued by Old Republic. The contract says “This is a Service Contract not an insurance policy.” Because the About page says Endurance is the direct administrator of “most” plans, and the entity on your contract can differ from the entity that sold it, check the Application Page of your own contract for its administrator and obligor.
What it sells (company statements). The home page offers vehicle protection plans named Secure Plus, Supreme and Superior, a 30-day money-back guarantee, a choice of any certified mechanic, roadside assistance and an Elite Benefits package free for one year, and says claims run through a network of more than 4,000 shops via RepairPal. The About page says Endurance is “the direct administrator of most plans we offer,” cites “20+ years” and “2.31 million+ vehicles protected nationwide.” These are the company's own figures and were not independently checked.
Endurance Warranty complaint record: BBB, Trustpilot and archive posts
Counts below are as displayed on October 6, 2026 and are kept separate because the sources measure different things; they are not added together.
- BBB. The BBB profile for Endurance Warranty Services, L.L.C., Northbrook, IL, shows rating A and BBB Accredited status (accredited date in page data: 2025-07-18; file opened 2007-03-14). BBB shows 3,563 total complaints in the last 3 years and 1,138 complaints closed in the last 12 months, and customer reviews averaging 3.76 out of 5 across 5,433 reviews. BBB says the letter grade does not use customer reviews.
- Trustpilot. 4.1 out of 5 from 15,437 reviews; the profile is claimed (May 2014) and carries a paid Trustpilot subscription; Trustpilot says it does not fact-check reviews.
- CFPB database. No company named Endurance appeared in the CFPB complaint-database company lookup on October 6, 2026.
- Archive on this site. Four older posts from 2008 to 2012 name Endurance in the offender field or text. Two are linked as primary (2012: a claim denied as a pre-existing condition; a dispute over repeated claim denials) and two name Endurance together with other warranty companies (a 2008 deposit refund complaint and a 2009 post mainly about a different seller). They are consumers' accounts that this site has not independently verified, and they describe practices of those years.
Endurance Warranty court cases (read from dockets on October 6, 2026)
CourtListener returned 87 docket results for the phrase “Endurance Warranty” on October 6, 2026, including suits Endurance entities filed as plaintiffs (for example trademark suits filed in 2026 in the Northern District of Illinois against Exclusive National Auto Club, LLC and Nationwide Autoprotect, LLC) and unrelated same-word matters. The consumer-facing matters below were read on their dockets (newest entries first); claims are allegations unless a court has ruled, and the dockets do not always state the claims.
Cooper v. Endurance Dealer Services, LLC (N.D. Ill. 1:25-cv-02919). Filed March 19, 2025 with seven named plaintiffs against Endurance Dealer Services, LLC and Endurance Warranty Services, LLC (diversity, breach of contract nature of suit). On November 25, 2025 the court granted in part and denied in part the defendants' motion to compel arbitration and dismiss: it stayed one plaintiff's claims pending arbitration, struck the class allegations, dismissed Counts II and V and let Counts III and IV proceed. An amended complaint was filed January 22, 2026; defendants moved on March 23, 2026 to dismiss it in part and compel arbitration, briefing closed May 26, 2026, and no ruling appeared on the docket as of its last known filing on June 8, 2026.
Rodriguez v. Endurance Warranty Services, L.L.C. (S.D. Cal. 3:25-cv-02694). Filed October 10, 2025 by four named plaintiffs “individually and on behalf of all others similarly situated” (order caption). The docket entries read do not state the claims. On April 23, 2026 the court issued an “ORDER GRANTING IN PART AND DENYING IN PART DEFENDANT'S MOTION TO DISMISS OR STRIKE” (the order's text was not available to read); on May 14, 2026 plaintiffs filed a notice of intent to stand on the first amended class action complaint and on May 28, 2026 Endurance answered it. An early neutral evaluation conference on July 9, 2026 is recorded as: “Case did not settle,” and a July 13, 2026 scheduling order sets a final pretrial conference for October 8, 2027. Entries 25 and 26 (August 19 and 20, 2026) are labelled “Dismiss” and “Order on Motion to Dismiss” without readable descriptions, so their content is not stated here.
Martin v. Endurance Warranty Services LLC (N.D. Ill. 1:26-cv-01334). Endurance removed this case on February 5, 2026 from the Circuit Court of Cook County, Chancery Division (2025CH10084). The docket entries read do not state the claims. On August 27, 2026 the court ruled that the defendant's motion to dismiss was “granted in part and denied in part” and set a telephonic status hearing for October 13, 2026; a September 4, 2026 request for extra time to answer and a September 8, 2026 order on it follow.
Reimer v. Endurance Warranty Services, LLC (N.D. Ill. 1:22-cv-02037). A telephone-consumer-protection case filed April 19, 2022; on December 6, 2023 it was dismissed with prejudice as to the individual plaintiff's claims against Endurance and without prejudice as to the putative class, on the parties' stipulation.
Zorea v. Endurance Warranty Services (D. Alaska 3:26-cv-00182) and Empire Auto Protect LLC v. Endurance Warranty Services LLC (D.N.J. 2:26-cv-12617). Zorea, filed May 4, 2026 under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, had a co-defendant dismissed on July 7, 2026; the docket shows no ruling on the claims against Endurance. The Empire Auto Protect action (trademark nature of suit) was filed September 24, 2026; its docket shows only the complaint and disclosure statements.
Is Endurance Warranty Legitimate?
Endurance Warranty Services, LLC is a Northbrook, Illinois seller of vehicle service contracts. BBB lists it as an LLC incorporated on 2006-05-05, rates it A, shows BBB Accredited status, and publishes a government-action notice for an August 2026 New York Department of State consent order ($36,000.00 civil penalty; BBB says it is not an admission of guilt or a finding of violation). An Oregon action from 2022 is reported by a news outlet (see regulator section). Contracts name Endurance Dealer Services, LLC as obligor and Old Republic Insurance Company as the insurer of those obligations. On BBB, 3,563 complaints were filed in the last 3 years and customer reviews average 3.76 out of 5; on Trustpilot the average is 4.1 out of 5 across 15,437 reviews. Court dockets show a pending multi-plaintiff contract case in Illinois in which the court has both compelled one plaintiff to arbitration and let two counts proceed. This page does not rate the company; the sections above set out the company's own terms and the documented record so readers can compare them with their own contract.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I file a claim with Endurance?
Endurance's How to File a Claim page lists five steps: take the vehicle to a repair facility, have the shop obtain authorization from Endurance before work begins, review coverage with the shop, pay the deductible, and follow progress in the Customer Portal. The sample contract footer says no claims will be paid without prior authorization. Customer Support is listed at 1-866-432-4443 and the sample contract prints 1-877-414-0134 for claims.
How do I cancel an Endurance contract and what refund does the contract describe?
In sample contract form VSC-01DE (04/25) cancellation is by written notice with a Federal Odometer Statement or notarized mileage affidavit. A cancellation within thirty days of purchase with no claim filed is refunded in full; otherwise the unearned price is refunded pro rata, as the lesser dollar amount produced by the time-based and mileage-based calculations, less a $50 administrative fee and claims paid. Your own contract and state amendments may differ.
What does the contract say if a refund or claim is not paid?
The sample contract says Endurance's obligations are insured by a contractual liability policy from Old Republic Insurance Company (Tulsa Branch Office). If a claim payment or cancellation refund has not been received within sixty days after proof of loss or the cancellation request, the contract says the holder may make a direct claim against Old Republic, toll-free 844-805-8753.
Is an Endurance vehicle service contract insurance?
The sample contract states: “This is a Service Contract not an insurance policy.” In California the company's Terms describe a separate mechanical breakdown insurance policy with its own cancellation terms (full refund in the first 60 days for new-vehicle plans or 30 days for pre-owned plans, then pro rata less a $25 fee).
Who runs Endurance and which entity is on the contract?
The Endurance web sites are owned and operated by Endurance Warranty Services, LLC and its U.S. subsidiaries and affiliates, 400 Skokie Boulevard, Northbrook, Illinois. The sample contract names Endurance Dealer Services, LLC as obligor and administrator (Old Republic in Florida). BBB lists Endurance Dealer Services, LLC as a related business. The About page says Endurance is the direct administrator of “most” plans, so check the Application Page of your own contract for its administrator and obligor.
What is the 2026 New York consent order?
The New York State Department of State's Consent Order 2026-C-0515-01035 settles alleged violations of General Business Law §399-z, namely telemarketing sales calls to numbers on the national do-not-call registry for 31 days or longer. It states a $36,000.00 civil penalty and an agreement not to contact registered New York residents without documented express request to be contacted. BBB, which dates the order August 20, 2026, says it is not an admission of guilt or finding of violation; the order text read on October 6, 2026 contains no admission or denial clause.
What do BBB and Trustpilot show for Endurance?
As displayed on October 6, 2026, BBB shows rating A, BBB Accredited status, 3,563 complaints in the last 3 years and 1,138 closed in the last 12 months, and customer reviews averaging 3.76 out of 5 across 5,433 reviews. Trustpilot shows 4.1 out of 5 from 15,437 reviews, with a claimed profile and a paid subscription. The two sources measure different things and are not combined.
Is there a class action against Endurance?
In Cooper v. Endurance Dealer Services, LLC (N.D. Ill. 1:25-cv-02919) the court's November 25, 2025 order struck the class allegations; the case continues with seven named plaintiffs on remaining individual counts, and a motion to dismiss the amended complaint in part and compel arbitration was fully briefed on May 26, 2026. Two further putative class actions are on dockets: Rodriguez (S.D. Cal. 3:25-cv-02694), where the April 23, 2026 order granted in part and denied in part a motion to dismiss or strike, and Martin (N.D. Ill. 1:26-cv-01334), where a motion to dismiss was granted in part and denied in part on August 27, 2026. A 2022 telephone-consumer-protection case, Reimer, was dismissed in December 2023 on a stipulation.
Where else can I complain about Endurance or its calls?
The FTC's ReportFraud site accepts reports about a company or an unwanted call, and the FCC's consumer complaint center accepts informal complaints about unwanted calls and texts. For contract or refund disputes, a state attorney general or state insurance department is the usual route; BBB says Endurance asks people to open a helpdesk ticket with the company before filing a BBB complaint.
