EchoPark purchase, fee, return and add-on problems: where to go and what the company says (checked October 12, 2026)

EchoPark's "Contact us" panel and footer showed (877) 708-4049 and a chat link in a fetch made from the U.S. on October 12, 2026; the footer number can differ by visitor location (a session outside the U.S. saw (972) 737-0529, which the store locator lists for the Richardson, TX Buy Center). The store locator gives each store its own address and phone number, and the footer also links a "Share feedback" form. Keep the buyer's order, any financing contract and every add-on contract, because they are the documents that fix the price, the fees and the return terms for your car; check them for an arbitration clause, because the website's Terms of Use (see the background section) do not cover a vehicle purchase contract.

Price and fees. EchoPark's pricing promise is "Transparent Pricing ... no hidden fees, and the price you see is the price you can get" (About page). On its used-cars search page the listings show a vehicle price, a line "Document & other fees (if applicable)" and a "Total Transparent Price"; the fee line varies with the pickup store: on October 12, 2026 Dallas-area listings showed $225 and listings with pickup at Charlotte showed $799, while the state disclaimer on the same page lists a $499 administrative fee for North Carolina. The page does not explain the difference, so ask for the itemized figures before signing. The disclaimer on the same page differs by the state where the car is located, as the company wrote it: Alabama, Arizona and Nevada "includes a $699 documentary fee"; Georgia "a dealer service fee of $499"; Missouri "a $620.79 administrative fee"; North Carolina "a $499 administrative fee as regulated by N.C.G.S. 20-101.1"; Tennessee "a $499 processing fee"; Texas "a $225 documentary fee". For California it says the Total Transparent Price "does not include government fees and taxes and any finance charge" and lists an $85 dealer document processing charge, a $37 electronic filing charge and a $50 emissions testing charge "(if applicable)" described as not governmental fees. For Colorado it states exclusions (required taxes, tag, title, other governmental fees and registration fees) but names no dealer fee. In each listed state the disclaimer describes required taxes and tag fees as excluded (and title or other government fees in most). Compare the listing, the disclaimer for the state of the car and the itemized buyer's order before you sign.

Return window ("Happiness Guarantee"). The FAQ says that outside California a car can be returned "within 7 days or 250 miles (whichever comes first)" in the same condition for a refund of the purchase price; in California the company says it honors "the state's 3-day/400-mile return policy". It adds that "Restocking fees and additional charges may apply" and explains that negative equity rolled into financing can be repaid or financed with a different vehicle, subject to approval. Read the returns terms in your contract, because the website page is a summary.

Vehicle service contracts and protection plans. The FAQ says a vehicle service contract can be cancelled at any time with "a prorated refund for unused coverage (after 60 days, minus a $50 admin fee)" and that claims go to Fidelity Warranty Services at 1-800-327-5172. If you are told an add-on is required, ask for that in writing and for the contract's own cancellation terms.

Financing. The FAQ says EchoPark works with "top lenders, including Ally, Wells Fargo, and select credit unions" and accepts outside loans only from banks that issue cashier's checks, plus draft checks from USAA, PenFed and Navy Federal. Problems with the loan itself can be sent to the CFPB at consumerfinance.gov/complaint (phone (855) 411-2372 on the CFPB page); problems with a dealer's sales practices can be reported to the FTC at ReportFraud.ftc.gov and to your state attorney general or state dealer-licensing agency.

Selling your car. The EchoPark Buy Centers make offers on cars; the FAQ says they "do not sell cars or accept trade-ins at these locations" and directs buyers to the Experience Centers for "the full purchase experience". The "extra $500" offer requires bringing the car "within 48 hours of receiving your offer email" and in the condition described.

Who is EchoPark: entity, ownership and how the company says it works

EchoPark is a used-vehicle retail brand of EchoPark Automotive, Inc., a corporation listed by BBB at 4401 Colwick Road, Charlotte, North Carolina. BBB's raw page data gives a business start date of 2014-12-01 and an incorporation date of 2013-12-09. The company's About page says "EchoPark is proud to be part of Sonic Automotive", and EchoPark Automotive, Inc. appears with Sonic Automotive, Inc. as a co-plaintiff on a federal docket (see the lawsuits section). Sonic Automotive's Form 10-Q for the quarter ended June 30, 2026 reports an "EchoPark Segment" that "consists of 18 stores in 10 states" and says that segment sells used cars and light trucks and arranges third-party finance and insurance products.

The store locator on echopark.com listed 34 locations on October 12, 2026 (17 marked "Shop this store" and 17 "Get an instant offer"); several Buy Centers are hosted at other dealerships' addresses. The company says its prices are "consistently up to $3,000 lower than our rivals" and that every car receives a "190-point quality inspection"; those are company statements, not findings. It describes a no-haggle process with "Experience Guides".

Website Terms of Use. The site's "Terms of use" link opens a PDF that says it was "last updated as of October 16, 2025" and that the terms are entered into between the visitor and "Sonic Automotive, Inc., EchoPark Automotive, Inc., Sonic Powersports" and affiliated dealership entities, governing use of the company websites. Among other provisions it says claims relating to the terms or the site "will be commenced and heard exclusively in North Carolina state courts in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina or the United States District Court for the Western District of North Carolina", contains a class action waiver limited to claims "RELATED TO THESE TERMS OR YOUR USE OF THE SITE OR THE PROGRAM", and sets a one-year period to file such claims. The word "arbitration" appears in that document only inside the class-action-waiver sentence. These are website terms, not a vehicle purchase or financing contract; the privacy-policy PDF was not read for this page.

Complaint record: BBB and Trustpilot as displayed on October 12, 2026, CFPB database, and archive posts

These figures are shown separately and are not combined.

  • BBB profile for EchoPark Automotive, Charlotte, NC (headquarters and corporate-owned locations): BBB Accredited, rating A+. 319 total complaints in the last 3 years and 111 complaints filed in the last 12 months. Customer review rating 3.21 out of 5 stars from an average of 255 customer reviews. BBB's raw page data gives accredited since 2019-10-09, file opened 2018-12-20, business started 2014-12-01, incorporated 2013-12-09. BBB says the complaint text displayed may not represent all complaints filed. Complaints visible on the tab are individual accounts: for example, one dated 09/18/2026 (status Answered) alleges that a $699 "appearance fee" was not shown on the website and that a salesperson said it could not be waived, and another alleges that two optional contracts the buyer had declined were later described as required. BBB's complaint filters on that profile show statuses of Answered (233) and Resolved (86) and complaint types of Service or Repair Issues (210), Sales and Advertising Issues (54) and Product Issues (43), among others; BBB also says the business has 20 locations listed. One complaint dated 08/31/2026 asks for a refund of an "Appearance Protection" charge of $699.00 and of a service contract it names as JM&A at $3,272; it is one consumer's account, and which provider backs a service contract is stated in the buyer's own contract (the company's FAQ names Fidelity Warranty Services for claims). BBB also lists separate EchoPark Automotive store profiles in other cities; their figures are not added here.
  • Trustpilot (echopark.com): 2.0 stars from 524 reviews, 32 of them in the last 12 months, as displayed. Trustpilot shows the profile as claimed since May 2017, says the company has not invited customers to review recently so the reviews "may not be representative", and says the company has not replied to negative reviews. Trustpilot notes that it does not fact-check reviews.
  • CFPB consumer complaint database: a company-name lookup for "echopark" and "echo park" returned no company, and a full-text search for "echopark" returned 0 complaints when run on October 12, 2026. That says nothing about complaints filed under another company name, such as a lender.

Lawsuits and court filings found in public dockets

Case filed by the company. On December 18, 2025 Sonic Automotive, Inc., EchoPark Automotive, Inc. and Sonic Divisional Operations, LLC filed a trademark-infringement complaint against Carvana Co. and related Carvana entities in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of North Carolina (3:25-cv-01004), attaching three U.S. trademark registration certificates. On January 2, 2026 the plaintiffs filed a notice of voluntary dismissal with prejudice. This was a business dispute filed by the company, not a consumer case.

Employment-related dockets. CourtListener's RECAP archive also lists EchoPark Automotive, Inc. as a party in: Nguyen v. Echopark Automotive Inc. (N.D. Ga. 1:22-cv-02381, Fair Labor Standards Act overtime claim, filed June 13, 2022, terminated December 16, 2022); Gardner v. Echopark Automotive, Inc. (E.D. Mo. 4:23-cv-00161, removal from state court, filed February 13, 2023; on April 18, 2023 the court granted the defendant's motion to compel arbitration, stayed the proceedings and deemed the case closed administratively, for statistical purposes only, pending the arbitration; a stipulation was filed October 28, 2024); U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission v. EchoPark Automotive, Inc. (D. Md. 8:23-cv-03326, an application to enforce an administrative subpoena, filed December 7, 2023; on May 20, 2024 the court issued a letter order granting the request for enforcement of the subpoena and directing a joint status report by June 20, 2024; the docket entries do not show the underlying charge or any finding against the company); and Gerny v. Echopark Automotive Inc (W.D. Wash. 3:24-cv-06045, Fair Labor Standards Act, removed from Pierce County Superior Court, filed December 19, 2024; defendants named on the docket are EchoPark Automotive, Inc., Northwest Motorsport LLC and Stephen Coss, and the docket lists Sonic Automotive, Inc. as corporate parent in a disclosure statement). In Gerny, on August 29, 2025 the court granted the defendants' motion to compel arbitration, ordered the two plaintiffs to arbitrate their individual claims, dismissed the plaintiffs' class claims and stayed the action; a joint status report on arbitration was filed December 1, 2025, a stipulated protective order was entered January 21, 2026, and the docket shows two "Notice-Other" entries dated September 4, 2026, whose contents are not available on the public RECAP docket. The docket entries available do not describe the underlying merits beyond the cause of action, and RECAP coverage can be incomplete.

Other filing. Klodzinski v. Echo Park Automotive, Inc (S.D. Tex. 4:26-cv-04955) was filed June 23, 2026; the docket shows a motion to dismiss for failure to state a claim (July 30, 2026), a notice of dismissal (August 20, 2026) and a dismissal entry (August 21, 2026). The docket does not state the claims and the caption uses a different spelling, so it is not tied here to EchoPark Automotive, Inc.

Regulators and consumer class actions. In the sources checked on October 12, 2026 (CourtListener caption and party searches, the CFPB database, FTC and state attorney general web searches), no FTC, CFPB or state attorney general enforcement action or consumer class action naming EchoPark Automotive was identified. The EEOC subpoena-enforcement matter above is a federal employment-agency proceeding, and the Gerny putative class claims were employee wage claims. Sonic Automotive's June 30, 2026 Form 10-Q says Sonic is involved in legal and administrative proceedings including "litigation with customers" and class actions, that outcomes cannot be predicted, and that no significant liabilities were recorded for legal matters as of June 30, 2026 and December 31, 2025.

The "Contact us" panel and footer of echopark.com showed (877) 708-4049 and a chat link in a U.S. fetch on October 12, 2026; the footer number can differ by visitor location, and the store locator gives a phone number and address for each store (the Richardson, TX Buy Center is listed at (972) 737-0529). The footer also links a "Share feedback" form. For a dispute, keep the buyer's order and contracts and send your concern in writing to the store that sold the car.

What are the terms of EchoPark's Happiness Guarantee return window?

The company's FAQ says that outside California a car can be returned within 7 days or 250 miles, whichever comes first, in the same condition for a refund of the purchase price, with California following "the state's 3-day/400-mile return policy". It adds that "Restocking fees and additional charges may apply" and that negative equity from a trade-in must be repaid or financed with a different vehicle, subject to approval.

What fees does EchoPark add to the listed vehicle price?

The used-cars page says the price includes a documentary or administrative fee that depends on the state where the car is located: $699 in Alabama, Arizona and Nevada, $499 in Georgia (dealer service fee), North Carolina (administrative fee) and Tennessee (processing fee), $620.79 in Missouri and $225 in Texas, with a California disclaimer listing an $85 dealer document processing charge, a $37 electronic filing charge and a $50 emissions testing charge (if applicable); the Colorado disclaimer names no dealer fee. Required taxes and tag fees are described as excluded in each listed state. The per-listing fee line also varies with the pickup store: on October 12, 2026 it showed $225 on Dallas-area listings and $799 on listings with pickup at Charlotte. Figures are as displayed on that date.

Can I cancel an EchoPark vehicle service contract?

EchoPark's FAQ says you can cancel anytime and receive a prorated refund for unused coverage, after 60 days minus a $50 admin fee, and that claims are filed with Fidelity Warranty Services at 1-800-327-5172. The contract itself controls, so check its cancellation section and any state-specific terms.

Who owns EchoPark?

EchoPark's About page says "EchoPark is proud to be part of Sonic Automotive". Sonic Automotive's Form 10-Q for the quarter ended June 30, 2026 reports an EchoPark Segment of 18 stores in 10 states, and EchoPark Automotive, Inc. is a co-plaintiff with Sonic Automotive, Inc. in a December 2025 federal trademark complaint.

Problems with an auto loan or finance product can be submitted to the CFPB at consumerfinance.gov/complaint, which lists (855) 411-2372. Can I sell my car to EchoPark without buying one?

EchoPark's FAQ says its offer to buy a car "will be the same whether you're buying a car from us or not"; its Buy Centers make quick offers and do not sell cars or accept trade-ins. It lists a valid photo ID for everyone on the title, the car title or financing payoff information, and all keys as items to bring, and says the "extra $500" offer applies if the car is brought within 48 hours of the offer email (for online purchases the FAQ describes a separate "extra $250" applied to the final deal in the store).

Has EchoPark been named in lawsuits or regulator actions?

Public dockets list EchoPark Automotive, Inc. as a plaintiff in a trademark complaint against Carvana that it voluntarily dismissed with prejudice on January 2, 2026, and as a party in several employment-related federal filings between 2022 and 2024, including an EEOC subpoena-enforcement application granted on May 20, 2024 and a putative wage class action (Gerny) in which the court compelled individual arbitration and dismissed the class claims on August 29, 2025.
