Cordoba Legal Group: contacts, fees, cancelling and where to complain
This page was checked on 2026-10-18. Cordoba Legal Group PLLC. is a Boca Raton, Florida law firm. Its own website (cordobalegal.com) lists the phone (888) 988-6815, a Client Login portal and a contact form, and its practice-area pages cover contract law, creditor defense, estate planning, litigation defense and tenant/landlord matters. BBB also lists debt defense among its services. Pages on the firm's own site that we read (home, about, creditor defense, contact, disclaimer) did not state fees, a cancellation procedure or a refund policy; those terms were not found there and would be in the client's signed agreement, which we have not seen.
- Before signing. Ask for the written retainer or engagement agreement and read the fee terms: what is charged, when, whether any money is held in a dedicated account, which debts are enrolled and what happens to your balance if you cancel. The firm's website disclaimer says the website does not create an attorney-client relationship until there is 'a signed engagement agreement'.
- What the FTC says about fees. The FTC's business guide to debt relief and the Telemarketing Sales Rule says it is illegal to charge upfront fees: a debt relief company cannot collect fees before it has settled or otherwise resolved the consumer's debts. The same guide says there is no general exemption from the rule for attorneys who telemarket, but that most attorneys are likely to fall outside it for at least two reasons (the rule applies to interstate telemarketing, and providers who meet customers face to face before signing them up are likely exempt from most provisions). We have not determined whether the rule applies to this firm; a client can ask the firm in writing how its fees are earned.
- Cancelling or getting money back. Ask for cancellation and refund terms in writing and send your request in a way you can prove. In a public BBB response dated 2026-10-02 to one complaint, the firm said a client who cancelled on September 16, 2026 had the remaining available balance refunded the following day, and that funds had been used or distributed under the signed Retainer Agreement. That is the firm's statement about one case, not a general policy.
- Creditor calls and lawsuits. In a BBB response dated 2026-10-07 the firm said its services are intended for clients who are already behind or facing hardship, that creditors generally will not negotiate on an account that is current, and that an account that is past due may continue in collection or litigation, which the firm says it does not control. If you are served with a lawsuit, deadlines run from the service date, so read the papers and ask your attorney or a legal aid office promptly. In a BBB answer dated 10/07/2026 the complainant alleges: 'I was specifically told by Cordoba to stop paying my creditors.' That is a consumer allegation; the firm's response is quoted above.
- Where client deposits are held. In BBB responses (for example 09/10/2026 and 10/07/2026) the firm refers to a 'dedicated savings account' where clients can review balance and activity (the administrator's name is removed by BBB) and to 'amended Forth documentation'. A BBB complaint dated 08/24/2026 names 'Cordoba Legal Group / Set Forth', and Set Forth, Inc. is a co-defendant in the Moghadam docket listed below. Ask in writing who holds your deposits, who sends account statements and how a refund is paid out.
- Complaint routes. BBB accepts complaints about the firm through its profile (see the complaint record below). The CFPB consumer complaint database lists the firm under the product 'Debt or credit management'. For questions about a lawyer's conduct, the state bar that licenses the lawyer handles discipline; BBB records list Florida Bar license number 493521 for the firm, but the Florida Bar directory returned a block page to our browser on 2026-10-18, so we could not confirm the record there. The firm's website footer says clients are represented by an attorney licensed where they live, supervised by managing partner Alfredo Cordoba.
Who operates Cordoba Legal Group
Florida's Division of Corporations (Sunbiz) lists CORDOBA LEGAL GROUP PLLC. as a Florida Limited Liability Company, Document Number L19000150613, status ACTIVE, filed 06/06/2019. The record shows a last event of 'LC NAME CHANGE' filed 09/06/2022 and lists the earlier name CORDOBA LEGAL GROUP LLC under the same number. The principal and mailing address is 102 NE 2nd Street #252, Boca Raton, FL 33432; the registered agent and manager is Alfredo Cordoba. Annual reports were filed 02/13/2024, 04/29/2025 and 04/15/2026. A second Sunbiz filing, W22000118330 'CORDOBA LEGAL GROUP, PLLC', is shown as a 'Rejected Filing' dated 09/16/2022.
BBB lists Mr. Alfredo Enrique Cordoba Esquire as Managing Owner, entity type Limited Liability Company, business started and incorporated 2019-06-06 (BBB page data), and BBB Accredited since 2022-01-20. In a July 20, 2026 press release the firm says it was founded in Boca Raton in 2019 and serves consumers in 49 states through a nationwide network of attorneys and legal professionals; those are the firm's own statements. The website footer states: 'We do not provide debt management services in Oregon.' The website footer copyright line still reads 'Cordoba Legal Group LLC', while Sunbiz shows the PLLC. name.
Complaint record: BBB, CFPB and Trustpilot as displayed on 2026-10-18
These are separate sources; they are not added together and each counts something different.
- BBB. The profile for Cordoba Legal Group PLLC., Boca Raton, shows BBB Accredited Business and a BBB Rating of A+. The complaints tab says '276 total complaints in the last 3 years' and '79 complaints filed in the last 12 months'. BBB notes that the complaint text displayed may not represent all complaints filed. Several displayed complaints are filed under 'Billing Issues'. In the text we read, complainants describe not being kept informed of settlement progress, disputed fees, and delays in refunds after cancelling; these are consumers' allegations. The firm replies on BBB (for example on 2026-10-02 and 2026-10-07), generally saying that it negotiated settlements, that fees were earned under the signed retainer agreement, and that it is willing to review the account with the client directly. The reviews tab shows '4.82 /5' and 'Average of 3,241 Customer Reviews'; the displayed reviews include both praise and criticism, for example one reviewer describing a $60 monthly charge and a fee of 25 percent on settled accounts, which is an unverified consumer statement.
- CFPB. The CFPB database lists the company as 'Cordoba Legal Group, PLLC.' with 76 complaints received from 2024-01-16 to 2026-09-23, 41 of them in the 12 months from 2025-10-18. Products: debt or credit management 66, debt collection 8, checking or savings account 1, payday, title, personal or advance loan 1. Issues selected by consumers: didn't provide services promised 30, confusing or misleading advertising or marketing 13, charged upfront or unexpected fees 9, confusing or missing disclosures 7, false statements or representation 4, problem with customer service 4, unauthorized withdrawals or charges 3, other issues 6 in total. Company responses: closed with explanation 68, in progress 5, closed with monetary relief 3; timely response shown for 75 of 76. The database shows the consumer's category and the company's response type, not whether the allegation was proven; CFPB does not verify the facts in each complaint.
- Trustpilot. The profile shows 5.0 from 66,843 reviews, a claimed profile since February 2022, a 'Paid Trustpilot subscription' label, and Trustpilot's note that it does not fact-check reviews. Some reviews carry an 'Invited' label. The page states that the company invites customers to review, whether positive or negative, and shows 'Replied to 84% of negative reviews' and 'Typically replies within 1 week'. The most recent review we saw was dated 2026-10-17. Trustpilot's AI-generated summary is not used here.
No complaints about this company were found in our own archive: searching approved posts for 'Cordoba' with word-boundary matching returned only two unrelated 2012 posts (one about a different website, one about an individual with a similar surname), so this page links no archive posts and shows no complaint themes.
Federal court dockets that name the firm
On 2026-10-18, Justia's docket search for the party name 'Cordoba Legal Group' listed 20 federal docket entries from 2022 to 2026 (one case appears under two docket numbers because it was first filed in the wrong venue and closed administratively). The list may be incomplete and state courts were not searched. Dockets are allegations and procedural events, not findings of liability; Justia's copies of dockets were last retrieved on the dates shown and later events may exist that we did not see. The claims in each complaint were not read; the nature of suit or cause of action is what Justia lists.
- Consumer filings naming the firm (2025). Palmer (S.D. Fla., filed 2025-02-05); Thompson (S.D. Fla., Fair Credit Reporting Act per Justia, filed 2025-01-13); Alarcon and Atkins (S.D. Fla., filed 2025-01-08); Glass (N.D. Ill., filed 2025-01-29, with Daigle Law as co-defendant); Moore (C.D. Cal., filed 2025-01-30, with LeJeune Law Office PC); Evans (E.D. Mich., filed 2025-01-30, with Stratton Law Office PLLC); Soberanes (E.D. Wis., filed 2025-02-05). In Glass the docket shows a motion by the defendants 'to dismiss and to compel arbitration' filed March 18, 2025; in Alarcon and Atkins the court denied motions to dismiss (and in Atkins to compel arbitration) as moot after the plaintiff filed an amended complaint.
- Telephone Consumer Protection Act filings (2022-2026). Justia lists TCPA suits by Rojas (N.D. Ill., 2022 and 2024), Salaiz (W.D. Tex., 2022 and 2024), Gonzalez (W.D. Tex., 2022), Harris (N.D. Ala., 2026) and Moghadam (C.D. Cal., 2026). The 2022 Rojas case was closed after the plaintiff filed a notice of voluntary dismissal, described on the docket as with prejudice, as to all remaining defendants.
- Other. Pfeifer et al. v. Forward Funding Group, Inc. et al. (S.D. Ohio, filed 2024-12-17, five named plaintiffs, FCRA cause per Justia); Grayson v. Cordoba Legal Group, LLC and Alfredo Enrique Cordoba (D. Mont., contract case filed 2024-09-26, dismissed on the plaintiffs' notice of dismissal); Callier v. Cordoba Legal Group PLLC (W.D. Tex., legal malpractice per Justia, filed 2026-05-07); and a case the firm itself filed on 2026-08-18 against Duo Studios Incorporated d/b/a The Credit People under the Lanham Act (trademark).
Defendants including the firm moved to compel arbitration in at least three cases (Atkins, Glass and Harris); that is a procedural position, and in the docket copies we read the court had not ruled on it in Glass or Harris. No judgment against the firm was identified in the dockets read. The number of dockets is a count of filings that name the firm, not a finding about it.
Is Cordoba Legal Group Legitimate?
Florida's Sunbiz record shows an ACTIVE Florida limited liability company filed 06/06/2019 with annual reports for 2024, 2025 and 2026. BBB lists it as a BBB Accredited Business with an A+ rating, with accreditation dated 2022-01-20 in BBB's page data, and gives a Florida Bar license number for the firm, which we could not confirm on the Florida Bar site because it blocked our browser. The CFPB database, BBB and federal dockets also contain consumer complaints and lawsuits about the firm; their counts appear in the complaint and litigation sections above and are allegations. No regulator enforcement action (CFPB, FTC, state attorney general or state bar discipline) against the firm was identified in the web searches and pages checked on 2026-10-18; the Florida Bar disciplinary record and state attorney general sites were not read, so this is a statement about what we checked, not a clean bill of health. Readers choosing a debt-relief provider can compare written fee terms, ask how and when fees are earned, and check the lawyer's license on the licensing state's bar website.

Frequently Asked Questions
Who is Cordoba Legal Group?
Sunbiz lists CORDOBA LEGAL GROUP PLLC., a Florida limited liability company filed 06/06/2019 at 102 NE 2nd Street, Boca Raton. BBB lists Alfredo Enrique Cordoba as Managing Owner. The firm's website lists contract law, creditor defense, estate planning, litigation defense and tenant/landlord practice areas.
What phone number does Cordoba Legal Group publish?
The firm's website shows (888) 988-6815 in its header and footer, and BBB lists the same number. The website also has a Client Login portal and a contact form.
How much does Cordoba Legal Group charge?
The pages of cordobalegal.com we read on 2026-10-18 did not state fees. In a BBB response the firm referred to a 'performance fee' disclosed in the signed Retainer Agreement and said (BBB response dated 10/07/2026): 'Cordoba does not collect an earned performance fee on a debt unless a settlement has been successfully obtained on that debt.' Fee terms therefore sit in the client's agreement. In other BBB responses the firm refers to estimated program terms of 'approximately 60 months' (08/31/2026) and, in Spanish, 'aproximadamente 38 meses'; and in a Spanish response of 09/01/2026 it says it 'no proporciona servicios de reparación de crédito'. These are the firm's statements about individual clients. One BBB reviewer describes a $60 monthly charge and a 25 percent fee on settled accounts; that is an unverified consumer statement. Ask for the terms in writing before signing.
Can a debt relief company charge fees before settling a debt?
The FTC's business guide to the Telemarketing Sales Rule says debt relief companies covered by the rule cannot collect fees before they have settled or otherwise resolved the consumer's debts. The same guide says attorneys have no general exemption but that most are likely to fall outside the rule for at least two reasons. Whether the rule applies to a particular firm depends on how it sells its services, and we have not made that determination for this firm.
How do I cancel Cordoba Legal Group?
The firm's website pages that we read did not describe a cancellation procedure. In a BBB response dated 2026-10-02 the firm said one client cancelled on September 16, 2026 and the remaining available balance was refunded the next day. Check your signed agreement, cancel in writing, keep a copy, and confirm any refund amount and date in writing.
