How to reach BHG Financial, what its pages say about payoff, fees and payments, and where to complain (checked October 6, 2026)

These are the company's own channels and the outside routes, checked on October 6, 2026.

Contact BHG. The company's Contact page says: "call 866-588-7910 or email at [email protected]." Listed hours are Monday to Friday 8:00 am to 9:00 pm ET and Saturday 9:00 am to 12:00 pm ET. The FAQ gives 866-413-4669 for the lending department about refinancing or additional funds. Existing borrowers sign in at the customer portal (portal.bhgfinancial.com/login); a separate link on the site goes to a credit card account login (bhg.myapexcard.com).

What the company's FAQ says about loan paperwork and payments.

  • Loan agreement: "After your loan documents are signed by you (as well as any co-borrowers on the loan), a copy of your completed loan agreement is emailed to you via DocuSign."
  • Early payoff (FAQ): "Many loans allow additional payments or early payoff, though terms vary by loan product. Your loan agreement outlines whether partial payments or early payoff are available, and how payments are applied to your balance."
  • Prepayment penalties (personal loans, newer marketing pages): BHG's personal-loan application guide says "There’s never any unnecessary back-and-forth, application fees, or prepayment penalties," and its $75,000 personal-loan page says "Many providers, including BHG Financial, charge no prepayment penalty ... Policies vary, so this is worth double-checking." These are company statements about personal loans; the signed loan agreement controls, and the pages do not describe business-loan products.
  • Origination fee (personal loans): the $75,000 loan page says "At BHG Financial, the origination fee can be conveniently financed into the loan itself." A financed fee is added to the amount borrowed, so interest accrues on it; the dollar amount of any fee appears in the offer and loan agreement, not on this page.
  • Automatic payments: "Automatic payments are typically set up during the loan application and funding process, using the bank account you provided."
  • Changing the payment bank account: this "is completed with assistance from our Client Services team," you may be asked for a voided check or bank letter, and updates "typically apply to future payments, rather than payments scheduled in the immediate billing cycle."

Rates, fees and who lends. BHG's personal-loans page says annual percentage rates for personal loans "range from 6.49% to 28.89%, with terms from 2 to 10 years," that loan amounts go up to $250,000, and that "Consumer loans funded by Pinnacle Bank, a Tennessee bank, or County Bank." A footnote to its savings example says the monthly payment "includes an origination fee"; the pages read did not state the fee amount, so check the fee line in the loan agreement. The footer says "Not all solutions, loan amounts, rates or terms are available in all states."

Calls and texts. BHG's terms page contains an authorization for BHG and any collection agency it hires to contact the borrower by automatic dialing, pre-recorded messages, email and text. It says opt-out is possible by emailing [email protected] or calling 866-297-4664, and that texts can be stopped by replying STOP.

If the problem is not resolved.

  • CFPB: its Submit a complaint page says it accepts complaints about "Personal loans like installment, advance, and title loans" and that "Most companies respond within 15 days." Submitted complaints appear in the public database counted in the complaint record below.
  • State regulator: BHG's disclosures say it holds California Financing Law license 603G493 for personal loans made or arranged in California, and its state-disclosures page lists South Carolina Department of Consumer Affairs registration CGC-164389 for Pinnacle Bank. Complaints can also go to the attorney general or financial regulator of the borrower's state.
  • BBB: complaints can be filed on the BBB profile for BHG Financial, Davie, FL.

Regulator actions: North Dakota order (2025) and Connecticut consent order (2026)

Status as of October 6, 2026, from the agency documents named. These are regulators' findings or consent terms in their own words; they are not court judgments.

North Dakota Department of Financial Institutions (order dated March 31, 2025). The Department issued "Findings of Fact, Conclusions of Law, License Denial, Order to Cease and Desist, Civil Money Penalty, and Notice of Right to Request a Hearing" against Bankers Healthcare Group, LLC (d/b/a BHG Financial, LLC). It is a Department order, not a consent order. Among its findings:

  • The order says BHG "by its own admission" brokered loans in North Dakota since at least 2018 without a North Dakota money broker license; the Department says it told BHG in a letter of December 23, 2021 that a license was required, and that BHG's letter received January 31, 2022 said it would stop until licensed.
  • It finds that BHG then brokered 106 more loans totalling $7,291,850, and sent North Dakota residents at least 117,704 mailers since 2018. It lists 297 brokered loans totalling $21,473,760.
  • Of loans brokered as commercial loans, 87 "appeared to be consumer loans"; 17 of those customers responded to the Department and 10 of the 17 said they did not own or intend to start a business. The Department concluded that routinely brokering such loans as commercial loans, without Regulation Z disclosures, is a deceptive practice under North Dakota law.
  • It finds contractual late charges above the state maximum, and BHG's own March 20, 2025 response admitted charging and then refunding one late fee above the statutory limit. It also finds BHG failed to provide customers account or payoff statements, and that BHG "made misleading statements to an examiner."

The order denies BHG's money-broker license application, orders it to cease and desist money brokering in North Dakota, and assesses a civil money penalty of $7,115,895 (loan fees of $816,026 on 191 loans, $6,182,165 on 106 later loans, and $117,704 for mailers). It states that failing to request a hearing in time makes the order final. The Department's press release on its enforcement-actions page says "BHG may appeal the order." In the sources checked on October 6, 2026 (the order, the Department's enforcement-actions page and BHG's press-room page) no later Department decision, hearing result or settlement was identified, and no BHG statement about the order was found.

Connecticut Department of Banking (consent order issued August 4, 2026). The Banking Bulletin of August 7, 2026 lists the Consent Order, and the order itself is published by the Department. The order recites that BHG "has never been licensed as a small loan company in Connecticut" and applied for a license on July 11, 2025 (application pending when the order was issued). The Commissioner alleges that from October 2023 to April 2025 BHG, without a small loan company license, offered, solicited, brokered or arranged 181 small loans to be made by Pinnacle Bank to prospective Connecticut borrowers, purchased or acquired approximately 181 of those loans, and received payments on approximately 4. BHG represents that it did not engage in licensable activity before the October 1, 2023 change in the licensing threshold (from $15,000 to $50,000) and that it ceased the alleged activity in Connecticut as of June 11, 2025. BHG consented "without admitting or denying the allegations." The sanctions are a cease-and-desist term covering small-loan activity in Connecticut without a license, a $10,000 civil penalty and $800 in back licensing fees. The order states it "shall become final when issued" and, once complied with, resolves the matter without further enforcement on those allegations.

What this means for North Dakota residents. The North Dakota order denies the license application, meaning, in its words, BHG "may not engage in any money brokering activities in the State of North Dakota." North Dakota residents with questions can contact the Department at [email protected] or (701) 328-9933; the Department's enforcement page also points residents to NMLS Consumer Access to verify that a company is licensed in the state. BHG's own position on the order, and any appeal or later resolution, were not identified in the sources checked.

On October 6, 2026, no additional action against BHG was identified on the CFPB, FTC and state-attorney-general pages that could be opened, or on the North Dakota and Connecticut agency pages cited here. That statement is limited to those pages; the NMLS Consumer Access site was not searched, so it is not covered. The Connecticut order itself says it is a reportable event for NMLS regulatory disclosure purposes.

For personal loans, BHG's newer marketing pages say there are no prepayment penalties (the application guide: "There’s never any unnecessary back-and-forth, application fees, or prepayment penalties"); that statement is the company's, is not stated for business loans, and the loan agreement, which BHG says is emailed through DocuSign after signing, is the document that controls.

Does BHG charge an origination fee?

BHG's personal-loans page says the monthly payment in its savings example "includes an origination fee." The pages read on October 6, 2026 did not state the amount, so the fee for a given loan is found in that loan's offer and agreement.

The Department's press release says BHG may appeal; no later decision was identified on October 6, 2026.
