Bear411 is a long-running site: its domain has been registered since 1999. Its Terms of Service and Privacy Policy name an identifiable operator, Blue Data Technologies Ltd of Northwood, England, and Companies House lists a company with that name and address as active, with accounts filed for the year to 30 September 2025 (company number 10378893). Payments go through two third-party payment processors, Verotel of Amsterdam and CCBill, which run their own cancellation and consumer support services.

Points to weigh before paying: the Terms say a paid subscription runs for at least one month, cannot be cancelled once it has started except by ending the membership, and earns no refund for unused time (sections 2.2, 7.1 and 8.1). Reviewers on SmartCustomer describe lock-outs after a membership lapsed, trouble deleting profiles and, in two 2016 reviews, charges after cancelling; these are unverified individual accounts. In 2018 a trademark claim against Webid Consulting Ltd., a different company that a court filing named as doing business as Bear411.com, was dismissed after a settlement, without any court finding; the filing does not involve the current operator (see the court records section). Before you subscribe, note which processor handles the checkout, because that is where you cancel.

  • two 2016 reviewers say their card or bank account was charged after they had cancelled or had their profile deleted; one says the $9.95 charges came through CCBill;

Bear411 membership, cancelling and contacting the operator

Bear411 calls itself 'The #1 Bear Site'. Some services are free; others need a paid Member subscription, and any subscription 'is subject to a minimum contractual period of one month' (Terms, sections 2.1 and 2.2).

Cancelling and refunds under the Terms. Section 7.1 says membership services start as soon as you register or subscribe and that, 'subject always to Your right to terminate as set out below, You will not be able to cancel the services after this point.' Section 8.1 says that if your membership ends at your request before the period you paid for runs out, 'you will not receive any refund.' Section 8.2 adds that no refund is paid when Bear411 ends a membership because the member broke the Terms, and section 8.3 lets Bear411 suspend or close an account 'without notice at any time'. In practice, the paid period you are in cannot be cancelled or refunded, but you can stop it from renewing: cancel with the payment processor before the next charge.

Your card or bank statement shows the date and amount of the last charge and how often it repeats, so you can see when the next one is due.

Where to cancel. Bear411's support page lists two billing and cancel sites, Verotel and CCBill. Check your card or bank statement to see which one billed you.

  • CCBill: the CCBill consumer support site has a Search/Cancel a Subscription form. You choose how you paid and enter two identifiers, such as your email, card number or subscription ID. Support is available around the clock at 1-888-596-9279, by email at [email protected] and by chat.
  • Verotel: questions about card or bank charges, including charges you do not recognize, go to www.vtsup.com or [email protected], or by phone: 1-877-872-9246 (toll-free from the United States), 00-800-44229999 (toll-free from the European Union) or +31 20 5315777 from other countries. Verotel's contact page also has a Cancel subscription link.
  • Bear411: general support at [email protected]. Complaints go to [email protected]; section 11 of the Terms says reports of non-consensual content are removed within 24 hours and other complaints are 'investigated and processed within 7 business days'.
  • Your data and profile: the Privacy Policy says you can email Bear411 at any time to see the data it holds about you, correct it or have it deleted; privacy questions go to [email protected].

Because the operator is a UK company, a request to delete personal data is covered by UK data protection law, and an unresolved privacy complaint can be taken to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).

  • Account removal by Bear411: section 6.2 lets Bear411 remove any profile, including photos, that it considers inappropriate or suspects to be illegal, and suspend or close an account without notice.
  • Liability cap: section 10.4 limits Bear411's liability for direct loss to the subscription fees you paid in the 6 months before the claim; section 10.3 says nothing in section 10 restricts your statutory rights.

If you were charged after cancelling. Ask the processor first and keep its reply, the statement line, the date and the amount. If that fails, dispute the charge with your card issuer. For U.S. credit cards, the Fair Credit Billing Act gives you 60 days from the date the issuer sent the statement with the charge to dispute it in writing; debit card and bank account charges fall under different rules (the Electronic Fund Transfer Act), so contact your bank as soon as you see the charge.

If your card was issued outside the United States, use your card issuer's dispute (chargeback) process and act quickly, because issuers set their own time limits. You can also report the practice to the FTC at ReportFraud.ftc.gov (the FTC does not resolve individual reports) and to your state attorney general.

Governing law. The Terms are governed by English law, and disputes fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales (section 12.3).

Court records naming Bear411

Bear Omnimedia LLC v. Mania Media LLC, case 2:17-cv-01478, U.S. District Court for the District of Nevada, filed May 24, 2017. Bear Omnimedia, publisher of BEAR magazine, sued several businesses using the word bear in their names, including Webid Consulting Ltd., which the filings describe as doing business as Bearworld.com and Bear411.com. The complaint alleged trademark infringement, trademark dilution, unfair competition, cybersquatting, false description and injury to business reputation. These were the plaintiff's allegations.

More on the lawsuitsShow less

On February 6, 2018, Bear Omnimedia and Webid filed a joint stipulation saying they had reached a settlement and asking that the case against Webid be dismissed with prejudice. The court approved it on February 7, 2018: all claims against Webid were dismissed with prejudice, with each side paying its own fees and costs. The settlement terms are not in the filing, and the court made no finding against Webid. The case continued against other defendants: a court order of May 22, 2018 ruled on motions by Mania Media and Instagram and noted that Webid had already been dismissed. Blue Data Technologies Ltd, the operator named in Bear411's current Terms, was not a party.

Who operates Bear411

Bear411's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy both end with the operator's name and address: Blue Data Technologies Ltd, 40-44 High Street, Northwood, HA6 1BN, United Kingdom. Companies House lists Blue Data Technologies Ltd (company number 10378893) as an active private limited company incorporated on 16 September 2016, with its registered office at Hartfield Place, 40-44 High Street, Northwood, Middlesex, HA6 1BN, and its business described as other information technology service activities (SIC 62090). The domain bear411.com was first registered on November 22, 1999, through Network Solutions, and is registered until November 22, 2030, according to the public domain registry record, which does not name the registrant. The domain is older than Blue Data Technologies, and a 2017 federal court filing named a different company, Webid Consulting Ltd., as doing business as Bear411.com; that filing does not mention Blue Data Technologies (see the court records section). Members must be 18 or over (Terms, section 3.1). Some services are free and others need a paid Member subscription (Terms, section 2.1); the support page lists billing under the heading Priority Access.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who operates Bear411?

Bear411's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy name Blue Data Technologies Ltd, 40-44 High Street, Northwood, HA6 1BN, United Kingdom, as the operator. Companies House lists Blue Data Technologies Ltd, company number 10378893, as an active private limited company incorporated on 16 September 2016.

How do I cancel a Bear411 subscription?

Cancel with the payment processor that bills you. Bear411's support page names two: CCBill and Verotel. Check your card or bank statement to see which one charged you. On CCBill, use the Search/Cancel a Subscription form at support.ccbill.com, or call 1-888-596-9279 (24/7). For Verotel, use the Cancel subscription link on its contact page or the end-user support site www.vtsup.com. Keep the cancellation confirmation. Under the Terms, the current paid period is not refunded (section 8.1), so cancel before the next renewal.

Does Bear411 give refunds?

Terms section 8.1 says: 'If, at your request, your Membership ends before the expiry period you paid for, you will not receive any refund.' Section 8.2 rules out refunds when Bear411 ends a membership because the member broke the Terms. Section 10.3 keeps your statutory rights. For a charge taken after you cancelled, or one you do not recognize, contact the processor named on your statement (CCBill or Verotel) first, then your card issuer; U.S. credit card holders have 60 days from the statement date to dispute a billing error under the Fair Credit Billing Act.

Is there a minimum subscription period?

Section 2.2 of the Terms says any paid Member subscription 'is subject to a minimum contractual period of one month'. For prices and subscription options, the Terms refer members to the site's Benefits of Membership page. Section 7.1 says a subscription cannot be cancelled once it has started, so cancel with the processor before the next renewal date.

How do I contact Bear411 or file a complaint?

For general support, email [email protected], the address on Bear411's support page. Complaints go to [email protected]: section 11 of the Terms says reports of non-consensual content are removed within 24 hours and other complaints are investigated and processed within 7 business days. Billing and cancellation questions go to the processor that charged you, CCBill or Verotel.

Can I get my data deleted?

Bear411's Privacy Policy says you can email it at any time to see, correct or have deleted the data it holds about you; privacy questions go to [email protected]. Put your member name and the email on the account in the request and keep a copy. The operator is a UK company, so if the request is ignored you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk. Some SmartCustomer reviewers say they could not get a profile removed after their membership ended; these are unverified individual accounts.

What do reviews of Bear411 say?

SmartCustomer shows 94 reviews of bear411.com with an average of 2.2 out of 5, posted between May 2011 and August 2025, and 85 percent of them are 1-star. Reviewers describe being locked out of messages or profiles after a paid membership lapsed, trouble getting a profile deleted, messaging failing in the evenings and, in two 2016 reviews, charges after cancelling (one names CCBill). These are individual, unverified accounts. Bear411 has not claimed the listing, and SmartCustomer shows no replies from the business in the last 12 months.

Which country's law governs the Terms?

Section 12.3 of the Terms says they are governed by the laws of England and that disputes fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales. The operator, Blue Data Technologies Ltd, is registered at Companies House in England. Section 10.3 says nothing in the liability section restricts your statutory rights.

Where can a U.S. consumer report a business practice?

The FTC takes reports of fraud and bad business practices at ReportFraud.ftc.gov. It uses them for investigations but does not resolve individual cases. Your state attorney general's consumer protection office also takes complaints. To get money back for a card charge, use your card issuer's dispute process, which is separate from an FTC report. Privacy complaints about the UK operator can go to the UK Information Commissioner's Office.
